So, missions are fun. I'm not debating that. But sometimes you want to just go on an adventure for the sake of an adventure. Whether it's venturing to discover new lands or traveling in hopes of new power, many Shinobi have a heart and reason to adventure. As such, I want to suggest a Quest and Event System. Though Quests and Events would be different occurrences, they both follow the idea of adventuring. Quests are usually requested and only affect the party in question. Events, however, can be site wide and can have an impact on multiple places at once or just one village. I will outline my suggestions as such:

  • Quest System
  • Event System
  • Appropriate Rewards

I am going to explain my reasoning and suggested implementation for each of these things.

  • Quests are more like missions geared towards adventure. Quests are more than likely going to be requested by a player. Depending on the quest it can be a [Group Quest] or a [Solo Quest]. While players will mostly be the ones asking for quests, [Quest Moderators] are also capable of creating [Open Quests] where any who wish to join can do so. Moderators can be chosen by staff or be members of staff, either is fine. Instead of Ranks, Quests will be categorized as [Minor Quest], [Major Quest], and [Legendary Quest].

Minor Quests are available to anyone as they usually center more around adventuring for the sake of adventuring, even if the material rewards may not be that much. They tend to give out minor items but might have a surprisingly useful reward, even if its not largely combat related. However, Quests in general are longer than missions and as such grant much more EXP than Missions do.

Major Quests are for dangerous adventures and usually pay out high level materials and rewards. These quests are not for the faint of heart and are usually reserved for more experienced Shinobi such as Chuunin and up, though Chunnin might be barred from doing a Solo Quest. Exceptions can be made at Staff discretion.

Legendary Quests are only for Jounin and Elite Jounin. These quests are not for the faint of heart. All Legendary Quests are DE by default and this cannot be changed. These are the hardest of hard quests and the Moderators will genuinely be trying to test your character's merit so dying is not only a possibility but a very likely reality. These quests produce the strongest of strong items in return for their ridiculous levels of tribulation. All quests grant more EXP than Missions by their lengthy nature and all quest threads will be tailored to the individuals participating.

  • If Quests are players actively seeking for adventure, Events are those that come to the Shinobi. Events are created by Staff, planned, and outlined ahead of time. As such, while Quests tailor to the characters in a thread, Events are controlled with a bigger plot and theme in mind. This means that if characters aren't careful, their actions might actually set them up for failure later on in a thread.

For Events, players have to think and try to predict the master plan while acting as their char would IC. Anything can happen in an event so you really do have to keep your eyes open. Events are also more vaguely described, only those moderating it and staff really aware of the bigger picture.

Events are classified the same way as Quests but Minor Events are much more rare. Minor events usually only pertain to a village or perhaps 2 but are rarely site wide. These events are usually driven by story and socialization than anything else.

Major Events are typically site wide and can be as big as a War or something similar. Major changes in the stories of characters can occur here. Major Events are usually site changing events and tend to be things that will leave an impact on the site's history.

Legendary Events are not likely to occur very often. These events are not just site wide but cataclysmic in preparation. These are Infinite Tsukiyomi, United Shinobi Forces type of events. These are the events when enemies and allies may have to come together and where village boundaries cease to exist. In these events, the Shinobi fight to survive. Unlike with quests, even Academy student can technically play a part in Major and Legendary events, though it might not be much.

  • Rewards can be pretty vast in range but I have opted to include some guidelines. First off, Quest Rewards are always geared towards the participants of the thread. Though Quests can be created for specific items, whenever there is no item listed, the Quest Moderator will create rewards fitting of the participants. The Quest Moderator can also increase or decrease the rewards based on how the participants performed on the quest. That being said, there is no guarantee that you will get the exact item apped for, it is possible it can be stronger or weaker. The Quest Moderator can also choose to create rewards for participants  of a quest who served mainly to accompany and help the main Quester. Rewards do not have to be items. The Quest Moderator can be as creative as they'd like, with staff discretion.

Events differ than Quests in that often times the Rewards are decided ahead of time. This is because Event Rewards are usually designed so that they are powerful or useful to a multitude of Shinobi rather than a specific individual. That is to say then that a Major Event Item might, and may very well often be, be superior to an item attained from a Quest of the same level just because the Event Item is more generally powerful instead of being designed for a specific character.

Reward level/intensity will usually vary based on the classification of Minor, Major, and Legendary. Minor rewards, if items, will usually but not always be of average or below average strength/level. It may be easier to allow for a higher reward if not actually an item. Major rewards are usually thinks of great influence and power, even if they are not an item. A major reward might be an additional SA, making it possible for a Shinobi to go past what they might ordinarily be limited to, or an S rank weapon capable of slicing through armies, etc. Legendary rewards are the stuff of envy. Getting one shows that you are one of the best RPers on the site and the rewards reflect as such. Whether it's an SA, access to a restricted Ability, a Legendary Weapon, or more, it is all within your grasp.

There is currently work being done to clarify our events and chapters. While your version of questing is interesting, we encourage people to stick towards the mission system, as they can mostly achieve the same goals.

Thank you for your input.
