Just think what I could do to you

It had been a day since he had arrived in Byakuya, the participants were given time to recover from their respective journeys, explore the town, and make last-minute training attempts to better prepare. Toru had settled in nicely in the housing, it was a decent little hotel with all the necessary amenities. Everyone was designated to this housing area, mostly to keep the genin and their guardians in the same place. This was, after all, meant to be a gathering of villages and a sort of... Unification. Albeit, Toru believed underneath all this, there was a certain amount of tension that hung in the air. Everyone was here to fight, to bring honor to their clans or families, to show their overall skill, and most of all to be eligible to rank up to chunin.

Toru was here to bring honor, to show that he was worth to fly the banner that he had been adopted into. Although becoming a chunin would have been a nice perk too.

Either way, he stood in his hotel room looking out a window, it was so cold out there. He almost did not want to go out, but he was a bit hungry and wondering what kind of local snacks Yuki no Kuni had to offer. If any. He could not imagine anything of use growing in this part of the world.

So he pulled on warm clothes that he had brought along for this trip and for the exams, yanked his sword onto his belt and stepped out the door. Though immediately having to press up against the said door when someone rushed past him in a hurry.

"Stupid, watch where you're going."

He cursed under his breath, nostrils flaring momentarily in irritation as he attempted to regain his posture.

The travel leading to Byaluya was definitely an interesting one. Out of all the missions he'd been on none of them to this point could measure up to this experience. The best part was that nothing had even happened yet. Being the presence of Shinobi from enemy Shinobi and allies alike was the craziest thing he'd ever seen. It was odd seeing someone from a village your parent fought against in war, and probably killed.

He was sure that others who weren't lucky enough for their parents to make it out felt the same way. Although, they were probably more like to be hostile than he was. He understood his position, but it wasn't personal to him yet if that made any sense. On the train they met a few people, but more noticeably that Suikazura person from Iwagakure. Her enthusiastic personality was strange for lack of a better word, but he could understand to a degree why she might be so happy.

It wasn't everyday you got to communicate with your villages enemy, or competition before things went underway. Nonetheless, that day had gone by and he was up ready to begin a new one. The plan was for him to meet up with Kazui and then they were probably going to do some traveling themselves. Maybe see more people. Scouting out the competition was pretty fun. He and Kazui had already gotten a few looks from others based on their clan.

As much as he hated to admit it knowing his clan carried that big a reputation was something he was proud of. It wasn't like he didn't respect, or even care for his clan, but the weight of their reputation up until this point did nothing for him but cause problems. Especially on a social spectrum.

When Issei awoke he realized almost immediately based on the view of the outside that he was late to meeting Kazui. "Crap! She's going to kill me." And by that he meant through her gaze as the likelihood she'd actually scold him verbally was low, but the look in itself was deadly enough to the point of not wanting to deal with it.

Isseis outfit would be much similar to what he had on yesterday except his clans robe wasn't black as he intended his other one to be. This was the more traditional purple blue-ish color. The robe was high collared like all of their clothing with the clan emblem on the back. His outfit though was black. A 3/4 sleeve gray compression shirt was worn underneath covering his torso, gray cargo pants were worn underneath cutting off at the midway point of his shin.

Bandages were wrapped around the rest of his leg and foot while he wore his black traditional ninja sandals. Once he grabbed his gear Issei attempted to rush down the hallways were he almost ran into a kid leaving his room. He was going to apologize before the kid said something first. Immediately he'd stop to turn around to face them.

"Stupid? Is that what they teach you were you are from kid?"

"And if it is?" She spoke coldly as she emerged from her own lodgings. For the most part, the young Kirigakure kunoichi has maintained a low profile since arriving to this wintry wasteland. Ducking off from the rabble had its own perks - getting a chance to catch up on some well deserved rest.

The trek across the world had taken a lot out of Okōhime, and it wasn't a help that she absolutely hated the conditions here. That disdain resonated with her tone as she slowly addressed the foreign shinobi from behind.

She knew Toru, and knew that he could well enough handle his own business. However, freshly rested - she calculated it was a good enough time to test the mettle of the competition. "Would you have an issue with that?"

She said as her arm rested softly on the hilt of one of her blades. Her Tōsōchi would follow up with a sharp clink - it seemed her steel itself was begging to be whetted with an exhibition. But she'd hold back the urge...

Toru was not about to respond to Issei, but it seemed that he did not need to speak for Okohime showed up to speak for him. His lips drew thin, he didn't want someone else speaking for him like this, but he also was not one that cared enough to protest a step in. He just shrugged towards Issei's remark and made absolutely no comment towards Okohime. He knew her well enough, and he knew that she knew that he could take care of himself without her stepping in. But, perhaps she had another motive. It seemed that this was the case when a click echoed through the hallway from the sheath of one of her swords.

This was where Toru and Okohime differed, the youth had no intention of showing off his skill or testing the skills of others at this time. He wanted everything he knew to be a mystery up until the moment he revealed it. So his sword would remain sheathed, and he would not touch it as he often did. He stood there, bundled in a thermal jacket, trousers, and a scarf that spoke of the clan he intended to honor during this event. He said nothing, did nothing just waited to see how this would pan out.

Would Okohime attack the unreasonably tall boy? Or would her words cut into his pride and cause him to attack? If nothing else, it would be fun to watch...

As if things weren't already starting out bad enough someone else came out of their room looking to start something with him. A sigh followed as he briefly focused his attention on the girl, and then back at the boy. The boy seemed to have no interest in saying anything to him, but the girl that came out had plenty to say. It was safe to assume that the two already knew each other.

Her words were very inviting, but Issei would not respond to her comment. Not just yet. He was more so interested in her body language than anything else which seemed to speak more volumes than her mouth did. The sound of her sword being unsheathed, even in the slightest bit told him everything he needed to know. A sort of nod followed before looking at the boy. He couldn't tell if he wanted to do the same, or if he was just sticking around just to see what happens.

"Nah. Its not my problem what they 'teach' you.."

It was clear there was a lack of discipline on the part of these two. He wasn't here to get into some useless fight in a nation he'd never been to before. All the action they were looking for was going to begin in a number of says. If they were looking to test their might against the others days ahead of the exams then they were going to be sadly mistaken.

She was clearly itching to scratch her own ego. Something he had no interest in whatsoever. Plus entertaining the girl would do nothing but provide the very person who was responsible for this with something to watch. Kiri nin. The Uchiha thought to himself looking at the boy. It made since why the two of them had swords on hand. Their village was popular for their elite swordsman.

"It would behoove you to relax... Starting a war over a childish exchange would do little to benefit either one of us..."

"Relax?" She put a rise into the shinobi by just placing her hand against the handle of her katana case. Not even a blade drawn yet - and her fun looked to have a stopping wall already in place. She'd keep her void expression as her tone spoke greater volumes than her facial expression could. "Is that what they teach you where you're from?"

Impudence in her retort, her gaze averted towards Toru. Knowing him as well as she did, she knew he was carefully analyzing the situation. He had insight into her own particular resolve, however she gained that he'd be interested to see how the foreign shinobi handled pressing agitation. Completely self-aware, she knew she could excel in that category.

"Sounds like a viable enough stratagem for your lot, to lay down." A wicked wry smile escaped and pasted itself onto her face. A haughty barb to throw, and something she hoped the shinobi standing before her, had the spirit to disprove. "Please excuse my sincerity."

"I’m freezing my butt off.”

The young girl would mumble to herself as she stood at the meeting spot that Issei and herself had agreed on the day prior, the coolness of the air and the warmth from her breath creating a poof of smoke with every word and every breath she took. The weather was harsh, the snow was unforgiving and in most scenarios it was able to render some of the most capable shinobi useless. But the thought of Issei standing her up to hang out with other shinobi was enough to boil the girl’s blood to the point where the cold did little to bother her. She was normally a very chill person, but how dare that boy do something as low down as that.

Light feet carried the Uchiha across the pure white snow that provided a bit of cushion beneath every step she took, a trail of footprints followed behind her, the design of her sandal left in the prints as well. ’Issei when I get my hand on you I swear I’m going to kick your butt in front of your new friends.’ She would think to herself knowing well enough that she would never lay a hand on Issei. It was just a thought in the spur of the moment. Nevertheless, she was still angry at him, and the two of them had been around each other long enough for Issei to know whenever Kazui was mad just by looking into her eyes, that cold stare was nothing anyone wanted to be on the receiving end of.

The girl passed through a group of shinobi who were standing around talking to one another outside of the compound. It was still a bit of a shock to the raven haired girl, seeing all these different types of shinobi, enemies, talking to one another as if blood hasn’t been shed on both sides. Still, Kazui would brush past them all without saying a single word to any of them, even fellow leaf ninja were ignored as she bumped through the group of genin, making her way towards the housing compound. As the girl entered, the words that were spoken were barely heard, they were almost muffled as Kazui walked lightly through the establishment. A familiar voice was among them however, yet when she went to investigate the reason behind Issei’s tardiness, she stumbled across two mist shinobi, hassling him for whatever reason.

Kazui wasn’t one to pop off for no reason. The Uchiha was actually pretty calm in nature. She had no clue why there was any confrontation to begin with, but there was one thing she did know and that was no one was going to disrespect or lay a finger on someone she considered a friend. The hand resting on the stranger’s blade was something that triggered the Uchiha’s anger.

"Hey bitch...”

Her soft yet bland voice would call out across the room as she placed a hand on the hilt of her blade, drawing it in its entirety. The cold dark glare that was meant for Issei, would in turn be casted upon the brat who stood across from him. Her focus was on the kunoichi, she quite frankly didn’t give two shits about the other kid since it seemed as if he were mute, she decided he wasn’t worth her time of day, but for the chatterbox, it was a different story. Pointing the tip of the blade at her, Kazui would go on to speak.

"If you even so much as think of laying one of your pale fingers on him ... then I’ll kick your teeth down your throat .. along with anything else you have to say to him.”

The girl would say softly before shifting her gaze towards the white haired boy. Her voice was far from threatening, however her body language and expression told a different tale. She was ready to pounce at any given moment.

"Ditto for ’player two‘ over there.”

She would say, gesturing her head towards the other mist shinobi. Kazui wasn’t one to back down, no matter what, there was no defusing the situation when it came to her, and there was no tough talk, only action. Whenever an issue arose, she had a strong urge to solve it; by any means.

Just think what I could do to you

Well whether it was Issei's problem what they were taught or not remained to be seen, the exams had yet to start. But Toru couldn't help but note the tone, the use of words. He was properly educated, it seemed, far beyond that of what Kirigakure could afford even within clans most of the time. It was the type of speech that Toru despised, as it represented the wealthy. It fueled his anger, yet he still did not say anything or express anything, he just stood there staring at the other two. Normally, Toru would have left the situation as it was a bit of energy waste. But he couldn't leave a village comrade, it would have shown a distinct amount of lack in solidarity, and even Toru as tactless as he was, knew this. He stood to represent the Mizukage, the Kaguya, the village, his new mother - although he had not yet managed to start calling her that - and a part of that was to show village solidarity, even though currently it was just silence unless things turned really bad.

"Hey bitch...”

An internalized groan, what could possibly make all of this worse? He was hungry. Not that he could not fight off hunger, it was something he grew up with naturally, so his hunger now and desire to fix it was nothing but petulance.

The girl drew her sword, a part of him wanted to laugh but that wasn't something that he really did. So he didn't. Drawing a sword though, prior to the exams didn't seem like the smartest move regardless of what the girl had for her beliefs. Toru believed that the rich should all be pummeled to death, yet he somehow managed to restrain himself on a daily basis. It wasn't productive. But now she was threatening them, had she even been there for the entire conversation to be drawing her blade? He was certain that he had not seen her, for all she knew Okohime was resting her hand on her blade out of pure comfort.

He didn't like being called player two, but he had been called names before and was able to restrain himself from saying anything overly rash. Toru wondered what he should or should not say... What would Minako say? Would she say anything or take action if this situation were to occur? The girl was being quite antagonizing, after all, the blade out on neutralized territory would have been a declaration of war anywhere else...

Was Toru to be the diplomat? That seemed entirely absurd as he was usually the antagonistic one. What would Minako say? He searched his mind. It was not that he was not angry, he was plenty of that and the girl had stepped on the wrong toes - as far as he was concerned. He had no opinion of Issei to this point, he seemed generally neutral by comparison if not just a pompous prick.

But pompous prick Toru could withstand. He dealt with those in his home village, it was nothing to start a fight over.

His mind continued to fly through the options of reactions he believed his mother would have. Mother, not Minako... It was still hard to think of her as such.

Ultimately, she would no doubt neutralize the situation, she was the Mizukage... War was not in her best interests, not always anyway. Toru decided to put a hand out in front of Okohime, to prevent her from acting on the sword that Kazui had drawn. This was a waste of their breath, time, and overall energy.

"We weren't even thinking about it," He murmured glancing between the two, his gaze stopping on Issei. He didn't say anything, but he hoped that his planted gaze spoke enough, the confrontation had occurred almost entirely because Issei had run into Toru, and while Toru had called him stupid, he would have said the same for anyone else. Granted, Issei didn't know this but it did show his character the kind of response that he had.

"We'll see you at the exams," He added, unknown whether he was goading the other two to attack them, if it was a veiled threat, or if it was just that - a fact being stated. Looking over at Okohime and he would nudge at her to join him in a collective retreat. They could go to eat together, in silence.

"No point in this, come on, I was just going to grab food."

Placing all of the contestant Genin in a shared accommodation was never going to go off without a hitch, not when old blood ran in all of the children's veins. Still, though, they were that: children.

It had befallen the Jounin Hanchou to ensure the security of Byakuya while the rest of the leadership prepared for the exams. And she wasn't against the idea, either, she had welcomed the children at the train station and had shown them to the boarding house. She knew precisely who was in what room, what each child was capable of according to their application and the temperament of each.

It was why, as Okohime placed her hand on the hilt of her sword, a vice grip would come to rest atop the Genin's hand. The woman had appeared, barely a flicker, so suddenly and so quickly that it would have been beyond any of the children to work out where she had come from.

Gone was the cheery face she had given at the train station, her face upon first Okohime who had her hand upon her sword, then to the girl who had spat back with a threat. And then eventually to the two boys. Her taller than usual stature was not one to fuck with, nor was it one that presented itself as an easy jibe. The staff that rested upon her back could have quite easily snapped the girls sword in half before she'd managed to get it out of her holster. Not to mention her hands themselves, being imbued with ranmataru steel.

Her golden brown gaze would stop any argument in its tracks and any attempts to turn the sassing physical. Rivalry or not, the city of Byakuya was under truce while the exams were on and none of the leaders would tolerate any kind of bickering or fighting before they were let loose into the exams. The pressure upon Okohime's hand would tell the girl she would not condone any kind of violence.

"Let me remind all of you: Byakuya is under truce. You are here as a representation of your villages and so far you are failing - terribly," the woman still spoke with her foreign lilt, but gone would the cheery attitude. This was the Jounin Hanchou speaking and their senior, regardless from where they hailed, "violence of any kind will result in a less than comfortable fate for any of you."

She'd remove her hand from the Kirigakure Genin's hand, leaving a red pressure mark where she'd held at a fraction of her ability.

"You all uphold your village while in this country and you would do well to remember that," her eyes would trail across the four children, "all of you."

"If you cannot be civil in the same room then I suggest some of you leave it. Byakuya has eyes and ears that extend your capabilities. We hear all and we see all."

With a sigh and one last glance, she'd take her leave, flickering from view again and entrusting the Genin to do something far more productive than fight on their first run in.

OOC:

Ola, Aika here to ruin your fun.

Byakuya is under truce while the CEs are on. Violence of any kind will result in disqualification and the perpetrator being yeeted by Kaiyo's staff removed from the exams.

By all means have rivalry and snark, but no fighting before the exams!

Kaiyo is in and out to warn you all ICly.

Have fun~

"..." She rose her wrist up in observation. A small little test in the response timing of village proctors. It was impeccable, and the Suiteki could only smile at the cuff of her grabbed wrist - before quickly letting her arm drop to her side. "Just one moment." She spoke in response to Toru. Getting insight into the quality of food this place provided was definitely on her striking list, but also was reinforcing some manners.

She turned towards the crusading kunoichi that had bared her own steel. A miniature smirk curled on her face as she took a few steps closer - "For a second I was concerned as to why the proctor didn't take the measure to remove your blade." She spoke as she stepped precariously closer.

"And then it struck me," A small laugh escaped under her breath. Another step closer - now with the flat of her chest walking into the blade, letting it's tip dig ever so slightly poke into her chest cavity. "You're playing with toys, not tools of war. A pity." She lingered there a second short of being awkward for anyone's modest tastes. "Food Toru?" She leaned and made a swift rotation, facing the newly minted Kaguya.

Turning her back on the foreign kunoichi.

Just when it seemed like he was going to have the situation back under control things got even more out of control. Issei didn't really care for any of the insults that were given outside of the first one, and even that response wasn't suppose to nothing more than size up someone potentially from a different village. He could tell the guy didn't really care for their encounter. Despite his rude manners it was something he could respect about him.

The Shinobi, presumably a Kiri ninja too was about all of the actions. Her hands were on the blades grip and everything. She must have been even more eager than himself to test out the competition. If there was anything he could take from this it was that they were competitive and extremely eager to prove themselves. They would have their chance soon just like they would. He'd do well to keep a special eye on them as their intent appeared more violent than what he was use to seeing.

Issei worried for a moment when Kazui showed up to the hallway. He couldn't tell whether to be more afraid of the fact that she was up here to possibly kill him for being late, or that she directed that energy straight to the female opposition. "Shit." The Uchiha muttered under his breath before spreading both arms out in a motion that he hoped to signal peace. However, that job appeared to be taken. Finally the boy made his presence known by stepping in between them just in case things escalated between him comrade and Kazui.

In a flash of an eye one of the elite chaperones appeared in what seemed like outta thin air. He hadn't seen anything move that fast before, and to be honest up until now no one around him who possessed that speed never needed to. Much like himself she was hellbent on reenforcing the treaty that existed between their respective village as to prevent moments like this one.

He wanted to nod his head sarcastically at the Kiri ninja, but he felt her presence in elaborating on what was already said by him was more than enough. And just like that, she was gone faster than she came. "Geez." Issei hoped that someday his eyes and body would be able to keep up with the likes of that kind of speed. The way she gripped the girls hand was kind of cool.

A sigh escaped from the Uchiha as the girl begin making last minute comments just as she was attempting to leave with her male counterpart. It was frustrating because he wanted to say something back, but the part of him that was groomed and responsible from his training with Yuuta would not let him. Instead he'd make sure to focus his attention to Kazui who was probably going to stab him instead.

"Yeeeeah... About this? My bad..."

So. We can either end the thread here possibly after this rotation, OR have our next destination be the same. There probably wouldn't be another close interaction like this one, but the two sides could engage in conversation about what they thought of the other group.

The young Uchiha stood motionless with her blade drawn, no tremble or twitch in her muscles as the point of the steel was aimed precisely at the girl standing before her. Kazui could tell Issei wasn’t having a good time, and based on the opposition's body language, Kazui could almost tell how eager she was to test her strength. That was fine and all but there was only one problem with that, and that was she was threatening one of her friends. Kazui doesn’t normally behave in such a manner, Hiruko and Kazuto both teach her to calm herself, and most of the time she is very calm. Had it been the two mist shinobi messing with her and instead of Issei, then the two would’ve never gotten a look from the girl, not to mention a reaction of any kind. But with her loved ones in the center of it all, it lit a fire in her heart that made her just want to kick the ever living shit out of the brat who had the most to say. This wasn’t the first time this had happened, a similar incident with Roku showed how much the girl truly cared about her friends. And even then it ended in the same way, her friend trying to de-escalate her anger.

In a flash, one of Yukigakure’s elite appeared in between the group of genin, wrapping her hands tightly around Okohime’s hand and blade. This didn’t shock Kazui however, and it wouldn’t get much of a reaction out of her. The Uchiha knew that it was only a matter of time before the superiors stepped in, yet still the woman was fast. The words the woman spoke fell on deaf ears, in all honesty Kazui didn’t care what she had to say, her sword remained pointed at the girl who she dared to test her luck.

Even with the jounin there, it seemed Okohime still had a lot to say. Approaching the blade that Kazui held out, and leaning into it like some kind of mad person. The Uchiha would just scoff before quickly pulling the blade from her chest and dropping the sword gently back into its sheath. Her eyes looked upon the boy who accompanied the brat. His reaction was more respectable than not, and his silence was something that Kazui could respect as well. Nevertheless, the girl allowed them to make their leave, and as they did the raven haired girl would turn to Issei, a look of disappointment on her face as she sighed.

"I didn’t come here to make enemies.”

The girl would mumble softly. A part of her felt as if she overreacted, especially since now that the situation was handled peacefully. But little did she know, the love she held in her heart wasn’t something she could just control. It was a curse that plagued the Uchiha, but it seemed to be more prominent with her.

"It’s fine, we should just go.”

Adding on to her statement. Kazui wasn’t mad at Issei about being late, in fact she completely forgot about it. Nevertheless, the child would lead the way gesturing for Issei to follow along so that they could go on about their day.

Just think what I could do to you

The woman showing up was not expected, but perhaps it should have been expected. The two girls were escalating it. At least he didn't have to do anything, he would be remiss if he had to actually show any of his skill off this early on before the exams got even a good start. A small sigh left him when the woman warned them, and disappeared as quickly as she had appeared. That warning had better not have been for him, as he had hardly done anything aside from calling a stranger stupid. Either way his shoulders dropped a little when Okohime spoke more and then turned to him to inquire about food.

He nodded briefly wanting to get away from the situation. What an annoyance.

So, he would wait for her to join up to his side and begin to walk away down the corridor in his intended direction to where he knew the food hall to be. Today was turning out to be quite interesting, to say the very least.

If there was anything else positive that came out of this situation it was that Kazui was not mad at him, or at least not mad at him anymore. The two of them could just go on about their day as if nothing happened. Out of all the things that could have happened today this was definitely the least likely outcome. On another positive note at least the two of them had not succumbed to the pressures of being an Uchiha.

There wasn't any annoying talk and slander about their people and their abilities here. Everyone here had something to bring to the table that they wanted to show. For once they would not be the ones draining all the attention. He and his counterpart Kazui were not interested in those encounters and Issei hoped that it stayed that way. "Right."

The Uchiha nodded before walking off in the opposite direction. Thankfully their goals was different from one another because having to exit from the same point would have been awkward. "This is probably going to be a silly question, but uh, Is it still cold outside?"
