Don’t just weather the storm.
Dance in it.

A gentle smile curled on her lips as the girl went through the motion of unhooking the fish and holding it proudly in her hands. Kazuto explained that the catch was more or less an eight out of ten, rather than ten out of ten because she had a little struggle getting the little guy out of the water. He had a point of course so the girl wouldn’t really try to fight for anything higher than the eight. "You know what, I’ll accept that.” She said followed by a soft chuckle as she tossed the trout into the bucket alongside the other one that Kazuto had managed to catch.

Listening on as the Senju spoke, Kazui would playfull roll her eyes at her mentor’s joke, "Oh har har, well make sure they frame it.” She joked along with Kazuto as she grabbed a seat back on the wooden stump and proceeded to cast her line back into the waters in front of her. A chuckle escaping her lips as she turned to face the Senju. "It’s alright, I forgive you.” She joked, "Just keep practicing, remember.” The teen continued.

With that said, her focus would return to the task at hand, and that was fishing. While Kazuto managed to get two more, Kazui on the hand only managed to catch one and was mostly out of luck on catching a second one. Nevertheless, she was enjoying her time. Her eyes shifted to her master as he spoke and asked if she had received any news on Miho’s bachelorette outing and what not.

"Eh, I haven’t heard anything. She’s been working a lot so..I don’t think it’s been on her mind as of late.” Kazui explained with a shrug.

"Yeah..." Kazuto replied at the knew of his wife to be not having decided anything yet. "Sounds like alright." If there was a truth about Miho, aside of her grace, patience and beauty, was how dedicated she was to her position within the village. In fact, he could guess that she would be the sort to work extra hard now that the likelihood of she becoming a Chunin and therefore have access to a great more deal of responsibility after she became a medical officer. "Guess it's normal that two workaholics like us were meant to be together." He joked, as the two of them would be busy and find the other collapsed on the bed or the couch, sometimes even a chair on their dining table.

But the revelation that she had not considered anything to do did remind him that he really didn't desire to have a bachelor party. He supposed that it wasn't something that appealed to him. Or well, the idea about what he had heard a bachelor party to be. Specially if Shikajin and Yuuta were involved, he suspected that there would be an element of surprise that he wouldn't really like whatever they had planned. Part of him suspected that he would have to spend the night just trying to avoid him if he wanted to be lucid enough for the rest of the day.

"So." He said looking at her and then at the basket filled with the fish they had caught so far. "You think you're ready to clean them and get them cooking?" Kazuto asked her, his hand fetching a one of the fishes they had just caught. "Have you gutted a fish before, Kazui?" He asked the girl with genuine curiosity. He would imagined that it wasn't something she had necessarily learned in the midst of her survival training.

"Mmmhm..” The girl hummed gently in response to Kazuto’s words. Miho was definitely a hard worker, one of the hardest workers that Kazui knows so of course she would be dedicating this time to her position within the village. She goes beyond her role and even takes on so much more than what is expected of her, it’s a reason why Kazui looks up to her so much.

A soft smile curled onto the girl’s lips as she reeled her line in before casting it out again. The teen wasn’t knowledgeable when it came to love and intimacy within a partnered relationship, but she could definitely tell that Miho was lucky to have a guy like Kazuto behind her and vise versa. "Yep, you guys were made for each other. Like two peas in a pod, you two share the same heartbeat.” Kazui spoke softly, trying her best not to sound too cheesy, but it was true nonetheless.

Reeling her line in again, with one final fish hooked, Kazui would toss the little guy into the bucket before eventually calling it quits. The bucket was full, and the two of them had plenty to eat. Dark eyes shifted towards the Senju as he suggested that they clean and cook the fish before following up by asking the girl if she ever gutted a fish. Shaking her head gently from side to side, Kazui would give him his answer. "I’ve cooked a fish before but it was already prepped when I did.” The girl explained.

Blood and gore wasn’t really something that she was fond of, but she knew they would have to do it regardless so there was no reason in running from the inevitable. Scooting closer, Kazui would pay attention, waiting for Kazuto to show her how it’s done.

"I wouldn't say we're peas in a pot, she's far more sociable than I'm." The Senju told his apprentice. The fact was that at some point both of them had been rather recluse when it came to deal with people. If she had not come along he might as well have not met Kazui or anyone else that made his life much more rich and compelling. But where Kazuto was stubborn, Miho was headstrong it could be said that she was more outgoing than he was. "I could.... hmmm that she completes me." He added as he would take one of the fish they had caught and a cutting table and placed it on his lap and plucking a carving knife from his holsters.

"Cleaning a fish is not terribly hard, but you need to be careful to get everything out otherwise you will ruin the fish." He said as he would take a whetstone and began to scrape the knife in order to hone its edge, holding the fish in his hand, he would expose the belly and slowly slide the flesh open, releasing dark red blood before he would twist the knife and pushed in and with a wuick move he extracted all the guts from the carcass and placed it in a basket along with the rest of the wastes. Then he would begin to scrape the scales from the fish, making the flesh more accessible before nodding to himself.

"Now, if you wanted, you can filled the fish." He said, pointing out the section behind the neck, mimicking the cut and then turning the fist on its back. "You can also take the belly, it was good muscles, if hard pressed you can eat the head too, or use it to make broth, it is rather tasty, you need to debone it of course, but, just like this would be fine I think." Kazuto said before producing a stick and skewering the fish and sprinkling salt, pepper and lemon juice on the fish before going into the next one in the basket and looking at Kazui. "Want to try?" He asked her, offering her the fish and the knife.

Kazui would chuckle at the Senju’s response. In her eyes they were two peas in a pod, they were made for each other, but of course Kazuto would praise Miho more than himself, that was expected of him. There was no question when it came to which of them were the most sociable, Miho definitely was a bit more outgoing and open to those around her, whereas Kazuto was a hardened soul that was sort of tough to crack, but when someone managed to get close they would notice just how caring he really could be. Kazui was the same way to say the least. "I would say so as well.” The girl said with a smile. It was clear that Miho was the half that made him whole.

Watching closely, Kazui’s eyes would rest upon Kazuto’s hands as he wielded his knife and grabbed one of the fish from the bucket. Nodding her head at the words he said, the girl would lean in a bit closer to watch as the Senju began to gut the fish and scrape the scales off. Normally, Kazui would be kind of grossed out, but after the first round of the chunin exams, nothing really phased her that much anymore. The smell of course wasn’t the best, but that was a part of the game. Once Kazuto was finished he would explain different parts of the fish to eat, before seasoning the fish and skewering it on a stick.

"Hm, I’ll give it a try.” Kazui spoke as she grabbed the carving knife and the fish. Taking the blade, the girl would slide it into the fish’s belly, copying everything that Kazuto had done, step by step. She would make sure not to get blood on herself as the liquid rushed from the fish’s wound. She would then twist the knife and push the guts out as well, tossing them into the waste bucket before she began to descale the fish. If Kazuto paid close attention, he would see all the faces that Kazui was making as she went through the process of preparing the fish, she was grossed out - but she continued on nonetheless.

Once the fish was ready to go, the teen would sprinkle some salt pepper and lemon juice onto the fish before skewering it onto another stick and handing it to Kazuto. "Yuck.” She joked as she stuck her tongue out and made a face of disgust. It was her first time cleaning a fish, maybe it’ll become more enjoyable sometime down the line.

Kazuto would watch the girl and chuckle softly as she would show her disgust at the mere act of cleaning a fish so it can be eaten. It was something that he had struggled at first with if he was honest with himself. Had life not being crueler to him he wouldn't have learned such skill at such a young age, taking one of the fishes he would repeat the process, his sight on the fish as he worked to remove the entrails and then looking back at his apprentice as she would try. The cut wasn't perfect but for being the first time she tried to do this he had to say that she wasn't doing terribly at it. "Watch out with your fingers there." He said, pointing out the way she held the knife and the fish giving her the correct motion on how to slice the fish.

"Let the knife do all the work, you just guide it." The Senju advice, continuing the process as he did exactly as what he had told Kazui. Placing his fish ready he would begin to skewer them, getting ready for the fire that would come later. He supposed that four fishes for each of them was a little bit too much, but he considered that it would be something that they could eat later after he showed her how to preserve food that had not been eating in the midst of the field. All skills that could help were worth the trouble to teach and learn.

"Well done, Kazui, that's a nicely cleaned fish." He said as he looked to the last one she had worked one, giving the girl an approving nod before he would raise and stretch, moving to the branches and twigs that they had gathered and began working on getting a flame by scrapping two flints together until sparks had flown and he was able to get some smoke and later fire.

Kazui worked as best as she could while also heeding her master’s instructions. With the blood and good running from the fish, it was kind of difficult for the girl to keep her hand steady, even though she was skilled with blades and things of the sort, she was still a bit squeamish when it came to blood pooling from a carcass. "Hai..” The young girl would say as she continued forward, she wasn’t going to cut herself, she’s too smart for that, but the way she held the fish was to avoid coming into contact with any of the fish’s insides as she dug the knife into it.

Nevertheless, she would tighten her stomach and hold her breath as she held the fish properly and continued cutting. Gross. That’s all that could run through the girl’s mind as she continued working on the more and more fish, however once she was done, a sigh of relief would escape her lips as she quickly made her way towards the lake to rinse her hands in the water.

"So gross..” She said to the Senju as she watched him handle the rest of the work that needed to be done, skewering the fish and starting the fire for the camp with pieces of flint. Once everything was set in place, it would leave the two with nothing to do but watch the fish roasting over the open fire.

"So. Are you ready? For the wedding?” The girl would ask as she leaned forward and rested her hand gently in the palm of her hands. "You aren’t nervous, are ya?” She asked with a soft chuckle beneath her breath. He didn’t look nervous, but he seemed to be pretty good at burying his true feelings.

"As ready as I can be, I suppose." Kazuto would reply as he would poke the twigs and stir the flames with a branch, sparks flying as the flames turned brighter and the smoke rose in a thin line from the fire. He looked down as he pondered whether he was nervous or not about the big day coming, of the unlikely chance of Miho not showing accompanied by Lord Chono at the beginning of the ceremony or that something else had caused her to not come or even if he felt a creeping sense that maybe they shouldn't marry. He grimaced slightly, his lips turning into a wry odd smile at the thought. "No... Honestly I'm not nervous for the day. She will be there in all her beauty and splendor and... I will consider myself lucky that she saw something in me worth of her love and affection." He confessed.

In truth, he didn't feel anything less but assurance that intertwining his life with Miho, the chance to spend his life with her, to even the possibility of having a family of their own and passing down the will of fire to his children so the next generation would take charge of the village defense. It was all a man could ask from life. If there was any doubt within him was that, he feared to ever hurt Miho, to be the cause for her sorrow or grief. "I just want to make her happy." He said as he stared directly into the flames, hands coming together, fingers interlacing as his grip turn hard enough to turn his knuckles white with the effort. Speaking more to himself than to the girl, but deciding that Kazui would be a good as any person to tell him how he felt about the woman that he loved.

"Before I met Miho... I was convinced I would die unremembered. Just doing what the village asked of me. I... I had convinced myself that I was ready to accept that... But now... Now if faced with the choice of dying with my honor intact to live and face dishonor... I'd rather live." He admitted as his smile slowly widened as he imagined how silly his words might've struck his student, sure that he would never hear the end of them so long he lived. "I guess she's to blame that my father noticed me so she spurred the beginning of the change in how I look at life... Although I think that old bastard wouldn't have accepted her much like my brothers did."

She fixed her face to show that she sort of understood what Kazuto meant when he said he was as ready as he could be. Could anyone be completely ready and prepared, surely there had to be some sort of doubt or fear of certain scenarios playing out on their special day. The human mind is the greatest tool at a person’s disposal, yet in the same breath it can often be the biggest hurdle for one to overcome as it tends to leave traces of insecurity, doubt, and negativity in the way a person thinks. Nevertheless, the girl would shrug her shoulders as her gaze fell upon the flame as the Senju continued to probe it with a stick.

"I suppose that’s one way to look at it. You’ve probably acted out the day a million times over in your head.” Kazui said with a smile as she quickly glanced over to the Senju before her gaze would fall upon the fire once again, her mind slightly wandering off as the flame continued to flicker. There was no doubt that love was a powerful substance that everyone sought after, regardless if they thought so or not. It was strange, when the girl had first met Kazuto she felt as if he were just as stern as some of the Uchiha elders, stone cold. But since time has passed, she noticed a softer side to him whether if it were with Miho, Himawari, or any of his friends - she could tell that he cared for them deeply.

Though the love he shared with Miho was much different than the rest - it was love love, which left the heart in a somewhat vulnerable state. The girl couldn’t pretend that she understood anything about it, but all that she did know was that if the two of them were happy, then she was happy.

"You always have, I can tell.” Kazui explained with a cheeky smile on her face, a soft chuckle escaping through her breath as she sat up straight and began to stretch her arms out above her head. Returning back to her original position, leaning forward towards the fire, the girl would listen to Kazuto go on and on about how Miho changed him and his outlook on the world, even going as far as saying that he’d much rather live with dishonor than dying with his honor intact, which were powerful words coming from him. His words left the Uchiha speechless and wandering within her own thoughts for a brief moment.

"Hmm..” The teen hummed, "I’ve never really delved that deep into it, I suppose it just takes the right person to help you see your true worth, and uplift you.” She was mostly rambling to herself more than anything, her gaze still focused on the fire as it burned.

"Heh." Kazuto chuckled after the answer from his student. He guessed that his words were either something that she didn't expect or that they simply the concept that he had expressed where something that she didn't care to understand or if she didn't have the capacity to understand. He looked at her for a brief second as the snapping of the twigs due the flames and the sizzling sound the fish cooking over the flames along with the accompanying scents that came with the food. He wondered then, if she had ever spoken about the feelings that had stirred beneath her heart, if she had ever spoken aloud the things that gnawed at her very core, almost as if she had been rather guarded about how she truly felt.

"With time, perhaps you will feel that way." He added. A part of him wondered if it was something with the Uchiha that made them so guarded with their sentiments. As quiet as he was, he still gave in into the showing of expressions, but for Kazui he had never seen her beyond quiet, razor focus or the slight light hearted tone. She had seen her wept for her grandmother but in a sort of contain way that didn't allow her to fully express the weight of emotions she surely must have been feeling. There had not been any showing of frustration beyond a glance. At least not that he had seen. He decided not to press the issue further, at least not to break the mood that had settled between them. "Surely there are some of your peers that consider you cute."

Kazuto said jokingly. But it was a truth. There must've been some of the boys of her age that thought in such way, or girls for that matter. He didn't want to generalize. As his hand went forwards one of the fishes, admiring it and finding that the eyes had turned white after the fluids had boiled away and solidify, he passed it to the young Uchiha. "So, anyone peeking your interest or is that thing something you haven't thought about?"

A feint chuckle would escape her breath as she looked over towards the Senju and saw him chuckling as well. She was awkward in these regards, and she was more than aware - still what she said was mostly true, and maybe reminding herself of that wasn’t such a bad idea. But doing so would mean that she would have to open up to others thus making herself susceptible to the same heartbreak that she had faced earlier in her life.

"Meh.” She would reply to Kazuto with a shrug of her shoulders. That wasn’t exactly her thing, but maybe he wasn’t wrong. One day she might change and feel different - but as of now Kazui wasn’t seeing what her mentor was seeing, and that was fine she was still young, there was no rush. She would remind herself of this as she grabbed a stick and began to poke at the fire herself, just to keep herself busy while the food continued to cook. The aroma was making her stomach dance in anticipation - fish was one of her favorite foods, mostly because of how light it was compared to other things.

Continuing to inspect the fish as the flames flickered ever so slightly, Kazui would have her mind occupied - until Kazuto went on to speak about how some of her friends might’ve found her cute and asked if anyone had her attention as well. In that moment the girl’s eyes widened as she looked towards the Senju, a slight blush to her cheeks as she tried to hide her want to smile from ear to ear. Quickly she would turn her attention back towards the flame as it burned.

"N-No..” She spoke softly, returning to poking the fire. "My focus is on my work .. and becoming one of the greatest kunoichi there ever was.. That’s all.” Her tone was bland as her mind was wandering while she spoke, almost as if she were lost in her own thoughts. Well, that’s because she was. Regardless of how much she tried to ignore it, the answer to Kazuto’s question was answered instantaneously in the girl’s mind, but she would never mention the boy in such regards because they were best friends - and that’s it. As far as she knew, Torashi thought of her in the same light.

Snapping back into reality, Kazui would turn to face Kazuto once again as she spoke, "Besides..boys are weird.” She would say in a joking attempt to throw Kazuto even further off of her trail, but doing so would inherently confirm to the jonin where her interests lie.

"Yes... We're weird I'll grant you." The Senju replied with a chuckle, giving levity to the conversation. Although with her statement she had confirmed what she preferred although he felt that he wouldn't really get much from her in that regard as either she didn't felt like telling him what she felt for a certain person or simply she couldn't find the words to express her emotions in a concise manner. It was something that he could understand, after all, he had problem expressing how he felt unless he was close to people he was comfortable with such like his apprentice. "Look Kazui, I... I didn't meant to tease you. But we're just people, we aren't machines. Sometimes... sometimes we need someone there to be waiting for us."

Kazuto said as his hand went towards one of the fishes that roasted against the flame, plucking it from the ground he would take a look, the eyes white as the liquid inside had boiled, the skin crispy and darkened by the flames and the scent of the herbs and lemon they had sprinkled on the fish. Nodding to himself in approval he would pass the roasted fish to the young Uchiha. "Now, I don't do this all the time, but I think that fish is really good. Be honest however." He said as he picked another of the arranged fishes and gave it a bite, the crunching of the skin over the soft meat that almost melted in his mouth made him almost want to hum at how delightful it tasted.

"Don't mean to brag... But I think this is pretty good." He said as he looked at her, hopefully she would be enjoying the food as much as he was. "So, you never done this before? Camping outside missions?" He asked, genuinely curious of what was her experience in this instance.

"Heh.” The teen chuckled at her mentor’s statement, agreeing with what she had said. Did she really think boys were weird? Sort of, Umetaro was a strange soul and so many others were just flat out difficult to understand - yet this didn’t give the girl a negative outlook on them seeing as Kazuto was more relatable to her in a sense than any other girl that she had ever met, which was a bit sad to know but that’s just how she was. Nevertheless, she was strange herself and she was aware of it to some extent. The feelings she felt in her heart and mind towards the white haired Uzumaki wasn’t something she completely understood - so she handled them in the best way that she possibly could, ignoring them. "I suppose so.” She replied to Kazuto’s words, her eyes still focused on the flames.

As the fire burned - searing the fish, Kazuto would remove one of the sticks from the fire and Kazui would accept the first bite. A thin line of smoke rose from the roasted fish, the smell of spices, herbs, and lemon lingering in the air as the girl inspected it for a brief moment before pinching off a piece and proceeding to eat it. The smoky and charred flavor wasn’t something that Kazui was used to, but it was definitely a delight nonetheless. A smile curled on her lips as she nodded and agreed with the Senju.

"Yep that’s pretty good.” She spoke before tearing off another bite. "Nope.” The girl answered the Senju’s question as she finished chewing the small piece of fish. "Who would I go with? I’m not sure Hiruko likes to camp, besides she’s never at home. I never got to have a true father, and my grandmother was far too elderly to do anything by the time I landed in her possession.” Explaining softly to Kazuto, the teen would shrug her shoulders and take another bite as if she didn’t care about all the things that she had stated - as if it were normal, but on the inside it broke her heart a little. but Kazuto already knew that. Having been robbed out of her childhood, her free time was often spent taking care of her father, grandmother, or herself.

"What made you start to like camping and things of that sort?” She asked.

Kazuto lowered the skewered fish, looking down as steam would escape the bitemarks that he had left and pondered the question that she had asked of him. It was hard to believe by his mannerisms that he hadn't always lived under a roof, that he had survived without the touch of sheets and blankets and pillow to rest his head on. Back then he had done it to save himself, having little else but three changes of clothes on his knapsack and the food he could scavenge or buy with what little his made from his missions. He thought about that time, those years in which the clan he ruled seemed to detest him or ignore him.

"At first I didn't do it because I liked it, I did it, because I didn't have much choice." He explained before taking another bite, chewing on the flesh and then continue. "My mother died when I was young, I didn't knew who was my father until I turned your age, we were poor, so... I had to sell her stuff and live on my own, I wasn't really ready so I camped in the woods. It wasn't until I was fifteen when I was given a place to live." He replied, leaving aside the fact that when his father had confirmed his heritage, he had done nothing to help him, nothing to give him a more comfortable existence.

He had to wonder, if it was a coincidence that the two of them were children of horrible parents. His father had decided to ignore him and release his brothers to belittle him and Kazui's own father had done little else but belittle her and blame her for something that wasn't her fault. "I think, I haven't yet gotten used to sleep on a bed after that." He said before looking at the Uchiha, a wry smile appearing on his lips. "I guess Miho stealing the blankets doesn't help either."

Don’t just weather the storm.
Dance in it.

"Mmhm.” The girl hummed gently behind her lips as she pinched off yet another bite of the fish and placed it in her mouth. The smoke continuously rose from the meat and dissipated as the wind blew. "That’ll do it to ya.” Kazui added on with a shrug. She was far too used to the concept and the similarities that Kazuto and her shared was scary, though it’s why they got along so well she supposed. Why did she enjoy knitting and things of that nature? Because she had to do it in order to get money to buy food. Though, she wasn’t much of a knitter anymore, having been short on free time ever since she graduated from the academy.

A chuckle escaped the girl’s lips as Kazuto went on to say that he doesn’t think he’s gotten used to sleeping on beds and went on to mention the fact that Miho often took the covers which didn’t help the case. It was good to know that Kazuto managed to find his source of peace in a world so hectic, even if she did steal the covers from time to time.

For a moment things would go quiet, the flickering of the flames and the sounds of wildlife remained persistent - yet Kazui’s would simply watch the fire yet again. Mostly using the time to reflect on everything that she had gone through, though it wasn’t hard to tell that she was beginning to grow a bit tired as she often found herself staring off into the distance. A gentle yawn escaped from her breath as her attention was drawn back towards everything around her, her gaze falling on Kazuto as she spoke.

"You know...this is the most fun I’ve had in awhile.” She started softly before grabbing another bite of the fish. The girl was grateful to have the Senju as somebody she could count on - he never failed her in terms of being there for her, it was like she had another older brother. "Next time we should go hunting or something...that sounds like fun.” The girl added on. If she enjoyed fishing and camping, then she would love hunting - at least that’s what she thought.
