With Life There Is Always Another Chance

In The Light There Is Always Darkness

Iwagakure… It was a place she had never been and to be accompanied by people she held close made it all the more exhilarating. Her mentor and her friend, both having come to Iwagakure along with her in order to accomplish their own goals. Her own? She had written ahead to the Village, specifically to the Tantetsu clan, to ask for permission to study among their clansmen. Her clan’s ability specifically focused around weaponry and their creation, Master Kirei had even shown her how to create and forge weapons with their own craftsmen. Here? They were supposed to be world renowned and exceptional. So getting here was just the first step…

The next? Find them. Escorted to them? She had asked her teacher if she could take care of things on her own and check in for their business which ultimately lead her to the Assistant. Lady Takara surely had her own business to attend to which made the village business fall to her assistant next, right?

The young girl adorned in her weaponry and armor would have found that official building made of stone and manuevered through the halls. It was so different from her home in the North… Innocent blue eyes slowly taking in the building and people around her in a silent and subtle awe. She remembered visiting the exams in Suna… the heat there. Iwagakure was totally different.

Directions had been asked once by the quiet girl, wondering where to proceed for the Assistant’s office, and then slowly making her way there with a light clink to every step as her boots hit the floor. Ponytail softly swaying back and forth with every turn of her head to take it all in, and then, one final door.

A knock given though somehow just as subtle and gentle as the young female seemed to be. A pause and wait for someone to answer, though no matter if one had or not she’d respond. Giving her intention if they asked, or proceeding inwards. But her name surely given.

"Masahiro Kaiya, Chūnin of Yukigakure. I request an audience with the Assistant.”

The girl known among her family and clan with the nickname of fragile flowers would be showcased, quiet song of a lark was her voice as it almost seemed to coo even when carrying her name in to that room… An out of place little Yuki indeed, but subtle and soft all the same.

After a Civil War, one would believe that their job would get easier. In Rentaro's case, it wasn't. Not long after Lady Takara was elected to become the Iwagakure's Tsuchikage. He was chosen to become her assistant, it was a job he accepted, since he had a desire to rebuild the village's strength. Little did he know that the job would involve a lot of work. Rentaro had to deal with issues that the Tsuchikage wasn't able to deal with, they were normally low priority and didn't require her presence. Although, a part of him was lazy to do that much work. He would definitely prefer this over a civil war, it didn't require the same amount of effort as fighting other Shinobi.

Rentaro spent the day on his office dealing with paperwork and some daily problems that the village faced. Lady Takara was busy doing her job, so he was left to handle the low priority issues and sort the one the real problems that required the Tsuchikage's presence. After all, being the highest ranking person in the village meant that she was on a tight schedule, at least, most of the time.

Suddenly, he was interrupted by gentle and subtle knock on his office's door. A few moments he heard the sound of a young woman, stating her name and rank. Masahiro Kaiya, a Chunin from Yukigakure. If he remembered correctly, he was informed about the arrival of a Chunin from Yukigakure earlier. "You can come in." He said, addressing the woman that mentioned his name and requested an audience with the Tsuchikage's Assistant.

Once Kaiya entered the office, the first thing she would be able to see was a black-haired young man behind a desk. Piles of paper could be seen on top of the desk toward his left. "Masahiro Kaiya... Right?" Rentaro looked at the young female that had entered his office. His facial expression was monotonous, it was as if he was bored. "Welcome to Iwagakure... My name is Takeuchi Rentaro, Lady Takara's Assistant. What brings you here today?" He introduced himself and welcomed the young lady to Iwagakure, assuming it was her first time on the Stone Village. It was uncommon for Shinobi from Yukigakure to come visit, so he believed there was probably some important reason for visiting the village.

A request given and an answer received. A voice from the other side of the door beckoned her in and the young Masahiro would find herself opening the door and taking steps into the room. Closing it behind her before standing tall and before the man quite a bit older than her. He sat… bored? The young girl unsure how to read him though admittedly had heard she was rather hard to read herself. The calm and flowing young girl with an expression that was often watered down or neutral even would be the one to face off against the bored male.

A nod would be given in confirmation to the man at him restating her name and allowing him to continue. A welcome and asking what she wanted, simple enough. "That’s right. And I thank you. I had written previously about meeting with those of the Tantetsu clan to further understand their forgery practices. I was informed to report to this building for what I assume is documentation and direction?” Perhaps a tour, though likely to get official matters settled with her presence in Iwagakure documented fully.

Approval of the Tsuchikage had at least been given, at the very least, but officially getting to lay her eyes upon those practices? It was a bit nerve wracking. She wondered how they might differ from the skilled individuals in her own clan and what she might learn. Things came in steps though, and hers carried her here. Simple back and forth waiting, but no less important to further herself on her journey. He could help, right?

The day in the office for Rentaro was always monotonous, there was nothing to be happy or excited about so for the most part he remained with a bored expression. He spent most of his days behind a desk with a pile of paperwork that seemed to have no ends. Iwagakure was one of the Five Shinobi Nations and out of all hidden villages they had the biggest military, so they were always a lot of issues that had to be addressed.

Once her identity was confirmed, he looked further into the documentation that was provided to him. The young female had written ahead of time that she was going to come to Iwagakure to visit the Tantetsu Clan. One of the more influential and renowned clans in the village, known for their Steel Release. "You must really have an interest in learning from them if you came all the way here... After her reasons and identity was confirmed, the piece of paper with her documentation and placed on a shelf that was below his desk with other papers. "As for the directions, don't worry... I was ordered to personally escort you there." Rentaro nodded to her the moment she asked for the directions. Considering she was a visitor from another village coming to visit the Tantesu Clan, he was told to escort her to at least show some courtesy.

He raised both of his hands up for a brief moment to accommodate his coat and stood up from his desk. The man walked towards to door that lead to the exit of the building they were in and opened it, turning to look at Kaiya. Rentaro left the door open for her and waited for her to come out of the door first as if he was showing courtesy to a visitor. After all, he was the Tsuchikage's Assistant and had to do this, even if he wasn't the happiest person doing so. "Please follow me."

Patient and silent, the small blonde freely allowed him to leaf through his papers without a peep of her own. In no time her identity would be confirmed and a comment towards her desire to learn, something she’d give a small nod to in confirmation.

"The Tantetsu are known for their unique and resilient practices, my own growth can directly hinge on the intimate understanding of such trades.”

With speech that was always just a little too serious for a girl her age, strung together in a polite and official set of words yet quiet and smooth to the ear. He wasn’t about to hold her back though, much to her relief. There were always little moment of tension where one had to wonder if something might have gone amiss, gotten lost, or misunderstood. It was no small trip to come this far and to not have come for her goal would have been disheartening. So, perking up, even if just a little, bright blue eyes would focus on him with a slightly more energetic nod coming his way.

A quiet return of ‘yes, sir’ at him mentioning he’d show her and the girl easily following him. Obedient thing… quiet and smooth, her aura was ever calm and settled even if she couldn’t possibly be that way constantly. And even through the door and meant to follow him, her words quietly expressed "Of course.” would have followed through. Not a pair of many words, though not something she disliked… The calm and silent nature of people could be reassuring just as much as a talkative individual, though she did wonder if she might be rude to say nothing at all.

"Your village seems well organized and kept with strong leadership. Our trip was well met.”

Compliments would be okay, right?

Rentaro nodded to her statement, as it was the truth. They were one of the most renowned clans in the entire village, primarily for their Koton, that combined three nature transformations. They were artisans and impressive blacksmiths, their weapons were regarded as one of the best. His best guess was that the young lady from Yukigakure shared the same interest as the Tantesu Clan and what a better way to learn from professionals. "That makes sense to me... I take it your clan has some similar practices to theirs?" He asked, they were probably not the only clone out there that specialize in such, but he decided to ask out of curiosity.

The two made their way towards the outside of the villages through the dirt path, buildings made out of stone could be seen just about anywhere. It wasn't called the Stone Village for no reason, but despite its size, it was quite organized. Rentaro briefly looks back to the young woman that came all over from Yukigakure. She was young, a teenager it seemed, despite her small height she was quite mature and composed. But, that was to be expected if she held the rank of Chuunin in her village, she was a more experienced ninja compared to the genin.

"Things have changed the last few years and it's all thanks to Lady Takara's leadership... Iwagakure stands strong, despite its previous losses." Rentaro stated, things have changed ever since Takara became the new Tsuchikage. The Civil War resulted in a lot of losses for Iwagakure, but despite all of that they managed to move forward. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and the village's growth after the Civil War was proof of that. They've become the Hidden Village with the biggest military and stood strong to defend themselves and their allies. "Good to know... The climate here must be quite the change for you."

"My clan is made of people with many talents. All strive to be great in their own way.”

The Masahiro… They were ones to take in anyone they could gain all with the mindset to better themselves in some way. They had people of all trades invited into the clan, into their family… But it was only those with the deepest connections that actually shared in those new arts their current leader had discovered. It was likely what the man was talking about, but the girl didn’t want to make it seem as if the skills of the few compared to that of the many. All of the Masahiro were important.

"The more specialized abilities of my clan, what I suppose are ‘secret,’ aren’t exactly metallurgy… but it benefits from knowing the composition and intricacies of weaponry.”

The girl attempting to explain, quiet words cooed out in explanation with the calm down the young thing always spoke in. She followed him along easily, their path set out and he was accommodating in pace.

"I’ve heard some of Lady Takara… I am not incredibly familiar though. I am glad she has the faith of people like you.”

Faith. Ironic wording if Kaiya had only known that the Kage was indeed a woman of faith. The history of Iwagakure was a brutal one, but what village wasn’t? Kirigakure had its own Civil Wars. Yukigakure was one of bloodshed and mercenaries. Kumogakure underwent a plague. A shinobi village was a difficult place to be…

"Yes…”

The climate. It was incredibly warm. A bodysuit that was meant for heat lay beneath that armor, something that wasn’t quite needed in this village… far too late to shift from that though, her day had begun. Her other outfits weren’t quite as official either… But knowing that he brought up the obvious as if she might be embarrassing herself brought a tinge of pink to her face.

"It’s quite warm here. It’s nice. I don’t mind Yukigakure’s cold either, and this isn’t quite the heat of Sunagakure, but it’s still much warmer…

Do you prefer warmer climates?”

Attempting to continue conversation since he would have started it… but maybe a hint of curiosity. Was tehre anyone who actually preferred cold?
