Newbie Guide | AU Pokemon | Tabletop Inspired | No Word Count

Long ago, it was thought that Arceus created both humans and pokemon alike, imbuing humans with intelligence and a strength in adaptation, and giving the gift of power to the Pokemon.

They’ve been fighting ever since.

As time past and generations rose and fell, the creatures refined their abilities, fought harder, and in time, found new ways to grow stronger. The pokemon learned to devour. By eating other creatures, pokemon could slowly gain their powers, even to the point of changing their own typing. By eating humans they could gain an anthropomorphic or humanesque form and the ability to communicate with human language.

People, on the other hand, learned to steal their predator’s power. Weapons and armor were fused with pokemon, granting them great advantages and strange symbols known as glyphs were learned. These glyphs were made by killing peculiar creatures known as Unowns, and with a small blood sacrifice, the strange symbols would do things. Some glyphs could hurt others, and some could heal, but most importantly, they allowed for pokemon to be caught in balls, forcing domesticity.

With this turn, many pokemon were captured and bred into being pets or companions and this closer connection allowed for humans to unlock the ultimate weapon. A human with pokemon powers, known as a Pokemorph. This seemed to allow humans the advantage, but their tendency to fight among themselves leveled the playing field. League members fought for order and control, while an intimidatingly huge network of criminals known as the Right People fought for freedom from rules. Culture wars also began, with much of the tension blamed on the curious devices planted under peoples skin by an unknown force. These devices, known as pokedexes beeped and warned people of danger and helped to identify enemies.

This brings us to now, where tensions are high, people are power hungry, and a powerful, zombie like disease is beginning to infect pokemon across the board.

Will you be a monster? Or man?
