HA MOMOCHI
THE FELINE BLADE

BASIC INFORMATION

NAME: Momochi Ha
AGE: 147
GENDER: Female
BIRTHDAY: 04/27, 876
VILLAGE: Iwagakure
CLAN: Ha
RANK: Jounin
POSITION: War Council
OTHER ALIAS:
Toshi Ha [Clan]
Despite her feline appearance and childish mannerisms, Momochi's known as the oldest member of their clan and acting Toshi Ha of the Iwagakure branch of the Ha. She takes great pride in leading them away from the lies of their sister branch in Kumogakure, having pushed the narrative that the accusation of murdering the late third Toshi Ha was a ploy to remove her from power so that the clan could be ruled under a single person. It was through her keen eye that she saw this for the betrayal that it was and led her people to their new home in Iwagakure.

Momo | [Friends]
A sort of pet nickname for her, first given to by her brother. While it had once been met with elation and a cheerful smile, it now sickens her and only irritates her. She gets upset when called this now and will get incredibly angry when called this.

Neko-chan | [Village]
Of course, leave it to the general populace to come up with a title for a woman that just so happens to be shaped like a cat. A lot of the villagers refer to her as Neko-chan, a title that she's been reluctant to really adopt in full. Momochi has more patience with the children of the village and even allows them to pet her on some occasion.

APPEARANCE

HEIGHT: 3'5"
WEIGHT: 30 lbs

『Avatar Form』
While Momochi is in her Avatar form, she takes the appearance of an anthromorphic cat that's roughly the size of an average child. Her fur color is a light, beige color, with darker shades of brown going across her body in a striped pattern. Across her white furred chest is the symbol of a cat paw that's to symbolize the woman's affinity for felines. In addition, she also possesses whiskers and cat ears to complete the look of a walking, talking cat.

She's not one to embarrass herself without proper clothing, as Momochi dresses in a specialized uniform that was once popular back from when she was still training under the previous Head of the clan. This purple colored kunoichi gear is light to move around in and offers flexibility and freedom of movement due to its lack of pants. Momochi insists that this is essential to move to her wielder quicker, though refuses to elaborate. It's also custom made to offer her ears some protection during journeys to colder environments.

『Weapon Form』
Momochi's weapon form comes in the shape of a lavish looking katana, with the blade stylized to contain the silhouette of flowers that Momochi once used to find enjoyment in tending to at her home before the clan was split into two. The metal parts of the handle shimmer with gold, owing much to the woman's vanity that even her weapon form is a marvel to be use,d let alone seen. Beyond this, pink colored fabric is fashioned around the arm rest and topped off with a guard that runs along a short distance away from where the blade meets the tsubasa of the blade.

PERSONALITY

NINDO: "Find your meaning and never let go, no matter how hard life pulls."

Momochi is anything but flowery. She's blunt in nature and doesn't shy away from making people face the cold reality of any situation. Her analytical nature comes in part from the decades of service to her clan as a lieutenant onwards. She's always on the lookout for something noteworthy or that could help with any problem she may be having. When not on a mission, she's far more social and approachable than when on the clock. Her voice commands a certain respect given her position, although she doesn't take advantage of it. Momochi wishes to see everyone beneath her flourish and takes responsibility for trying to take care of everybody at once, even if what she preaches is quite the opposite.

Inwards, Momochi suffers from depression but hides it by her noticeable workaholic tendencies. She's usually busy on a mission or patrolling around in some vain attempt to ignore the feelings and thoughts inside of her head. These are kept secret from everybody and she's known to explode on people once pushed far enough on a bad day. This feeling of irritability lasts for a while and is then followed by a sulking period until Momochi eentually returns to her usual demeanor.

HISTORY

I. Sprout
Momochi grew up in a militaristic household, with her father's side of the family being well known for their combat prowess. As a child of the third generation of the Ha, she viewed her bloodline's potential on the par with the greats of the ninja world. Her brother, Masahiro, had shared these sentiments with his younger sibling, the two becoming close with one another as they both set their sights on joining the names of the great shinobi in the world. Their parents, both leased by their children's resolution, were quick to enlist both into training for joining the academy when they were able bodied. It was harsh, troublesome work to physically adapt their bodies against the forces of what they would one day go against, but to the two, they saw it as no higher honor.

Once fully in the academy proper, Momochi and Masahiro made themselves quickly known through their merit as shinobi in different ways. Masahiro has been skilled in the art of ninjutsu, as he routinely read ahead in class and tended to try his hand at genin level jutsu when he believed that he was being held back by his teachings. Conversely, Momochi was well equipped to handle herself in a fight, with the kusarigari being her weapon of choice. Her agility and flexibility offered her ample opportunity to turn the tides of the most handicapped fight. She was by no means a weapons expert or the strongest in her class, but she could give them a run for their money.

Academy staff gave them favorable marks, but cited a lack of willingness to learn from one another. They constantly bickered about whether Masahiro's ninjutsu were stronger than Momochi's physical methods, and it was common to see them fighting in the schoolyard over it. They did, however, praise the two's capabilities when they set their differences aside and fought as one unit. When a group of upperclassmen had ambushed both for a remark levied at the star pupil when they had ruined Masahiro's project intentionally, Momochi wasted no time in coming to the aid of her brother as the two fought off a group as best they could before staff became involved.

II. Bloom
Once out of the academy of their clan, Momochi and her brother had been quickly accepted into the armed forces of the Ha with open arms. Their missions began as innocuous as just fetching supplies or offering protection while out delivering good and supplies across the land. While their personalities tended to clash against one another, their trademark style had led to both shooting up the rankings in record time. Masahiro enjoyed the fame and power that their newfound status in the clan had given them, although Momochi had remained somewhat unmoved from it. To her, the best reward was to be in service to the Ha, even if she was a bit stubborn to move from her stance on bukijutsu.

They were both in their mid 20s when shinobi forces had attacked the bulk of the Ha's forces. Masahiro had been absent from the attack and left Momochi in more than capable hands by herself. While the front facing defenses were active, a debilitating poison had been used to disable the bulk of the forces. In a heroic attempt at preventing damage to her clan, Momochi charged forward towards the enemy's poison throwing backline by herself. The chaos had interrupted the flow of the invasion and moved the momentum to the Ha as they pushed the invaders out.

Momochi, unfortunately, had been badly poisoned during her fight alone and suffered tremendous injuries alongside her cocktail of poisons. The potency had made mundane treatments ineffective and prolonged her long recovery with her likely career ending injuries. She was placed in an infirmary to rest while stuck with her vulnerable, painful body.

Momochi had grown weary and faced a fear that she had never thought of before, having dying before she had achieved anything noteworthy for her people. She wasn't entirely religious, as much as anyone else, but the thoughts on death had began to eat away at her psyche. Momochi couldn't stand facing what came after life out of a fear there would be nothing. With Masahiro preparing for his own Bloodforging to become part of the Hyōjun, she wished to rid herself of this sickly body and rejoin him in the field. The idea of becoming bound to sit on the sidelines for the remainder of her life and allowing her name to be forgotten was what made her quite the rowdy patient.

Instead of following Masahiro into the Hyōjun sealing method, her eyes became set on the Densetsu ritual, requiring the more intensive care and materials but effectively making the Ha into a weapon who could rival that of the finest blacksmith's masterpiece. Her brother, while reluctant at first, agreed to help scrounge up the reagents needed for the ritual, and after several months, her sickly form lied before the blacksmiths and was infused into a replica of her brother's blade.

With the loss of her humanity weighing on her mind, Momochi was happy to finally end the full year of grueling pain and rejoin the battlefield in a new way. She couldn't become a great shinobi directly, but she could become a legendary sword to be wielded by only the finest in her clan.

III. Wilting
Despite the differences that faced the pair, both Momochi and Masahiro continued to serve their clan the best they could. While getting used to her new life as a weapon primarily, Momochi did enjoy that her avatar form allowed her to be able to participate in normal day-to-day functions. Although teasing at times, her brother was glad to work with her again in some capacity. They continued to work their way towards the top of the food chain and even were placed together in charge of their own little squad of younglings.

The two weren't exactly qualified to be teaching the next generation of Ha everything from their own academy, but Momochi and Masahiro did their best to show them the ropes of becoming a ninja in their own unique ways. her sibling would proudly tout that ninjutsu was far superior for a certain situation while the loving weapon argued that bukijutsu and taijutsu were fundamentally useful in any situation.

While butting heads more often than not, the siblings did make a fine pair of teachers for their ninja rookies. They went on missions, went on training exercises and participated in examinations to see their pupils move onto better things. Life seemed so simple to Momochi this way. She wondered if they would be stuck as academy instructors after a year of doing this, having better aspirations than to sit on the sidelines.

It was supposed to be another delivery mission like always. Just a service that the clan did for targets needing some defense from bandits. It was a quiet sort of mission with their genin level students, though the precise contents of their cargo were a mystery to them. It wasn't until they were attacked by a group of rogue ninja that their buyer revealed what they had been hired to protect: chests full of valuable gems to be gifted to some trade prince somewhere as a payment past due.

The lack of details had Momochi urged her brother to reconsider the offer and return to the village, but he cast aside any worries. A job this big would surely have a great sort of payout at the end, wouldn't it? They took a vote with their students and won 3-2 on whether to continue or not. She had her reservations but Momochi honored the vote and continued.

The attacks grew more common and towards the end of the trip, a large-scale ambush struck the group. Masahiro and Momochi fought as best they could, but the sheer numbers overwhelmed them all. She panicked and made the call to retreat for her students’ safety, only for their escape to be rigged with explosive tags. The ensuing chase back to safety had been costly, but effective.

Momochi had gotten away with most of the brunt of the attack due to reverting to her weapon form, though everyone else wasn't so lucky. The students present each had sustained serious injuries as a result of the fighting, including her brother. Masahiro had used his body to shield another few from the blast, at the cost of his health. The path back home was slow and maddening. With hunters on their tail and carrying or helping wounded, she blamed herself for the ensuing fallout.

Along the trek, some students passed away without advanced medical aid, with the two siblings having to continue on with a subpar burial. Masahiro himself had fallen victim to his injuries and as their hunters closed in on them, opted to stay and buy the group time. Momochi refused and adamantly demanded to stay with him, but was carried off with her students against her will. The last sight she ever saw of her brother was him leaning against the bough of a tree, blade drawn and readied for the oncoming assault.

When they finally did return home, four students had perished on the way there. The wails and cries of their families upon learning of their demise echoed endlessly in her ears. She despised herself for failing them and worst of all, abandoning her brother. Some days later, his body was recovered as her worst fears were confirmed.

IV. Decay
Momochi took her brother's death hard. She was inconsolable and often had to be dragged to her duties. Numerous scolding, punishments and other things had weighed heavy on her mind. The fear of ending up dead before his prime like her, the stress of caring for kids that would likely die for a meaningless cause, everything seemed like a misery to pursue. She left her position teaching and instead, opted for a career in the village’s main forces as a surprise for everyone involved. People congratulated and wished her well, but she was numb to it all.

She fell into the faceless masses once more. No longer boisterous and cock as before, but silent and cold. Her status as a Densetsu made it easy for her to find a partner to bring up the ranks with her. Momochi met many faces, names, even histories on her up through the ranks.

Every time her wielder fell, she threw herself into the frenzy of their battle in some vain hope that she could be slain and end this suffering. But every time, something inside of her forced herself to fight back or flee to another member of her squad. Momochi didn't even know if she could die, but continued to exist and drown herself in her work, with some hope that something could end her.

The decades of military service had grown her name as she quietly rose up the ranks of the Ha. Her deeds and service to the Ha had put her name as a candidate to study under one of the Ha elders as an advisor, soon graduating to become a fully fledged elder of the clan. Wielded in full with her assistant, Momochi focused entirely on the clan's matters in martial affairs. While honored, she couldn't help but feel the sense of guilt that seemed to follow her. What kind of elder would send their youngest to be butchered?

V. Burden
When their home nation had pushed them out in full, the clan was put at a standstill of where to go. Momochi had been partnered with her assistant, an Iwagakure ninja, and fully supported moving the Ha there, though with the other two elders wishing to move to Kumogakure and remaining neutral, the clan was at a standstill. With neither budging no matter he arguments, Momochi felt as if she could not stand by idly any longer. If she could not change the mind of the elder siding with Kumogakure, she could ensure that they would not be able to cast their vote.

The plan was made to take the life of the elder with her wielder. It was against everything that she had been raised to do for, but the Ha would perish if they bickered for so long. She knew how to use her reach to ensure no evidence could be traced back to them, as much as it pained her. Yet it was a necessary evil for the good of her clan. They would grow flourish from her suffering. It would all be worth it in the end.

The elders met again to call another vote on where to go. This time, however, the elder siding with Kumogakure had been mysteriously absent and was declared missing. Momochi heavily pushed for joining with Iwagakure under the ranting and raving of the neutral elder, who now had accused her of being responsible for the death of their fallen leader.

And with that one accusation, the Ha were split in two. One half siding with the neutral elder and believing she was a murderer and the other coming to her defense in that the allegations made against her were insane ramblings. Momochi, pained, took her sect of the Ha and began to long journey to Iwagakure.

VI. Aftermath
After arriving at their new home, Momochi was quick to lend aid to her people and reassure them of her innocence. Their fiery and easily prodded spirits made it simple to manipulating them into believing such a falsehood. She was at the forefront of showing her gratitude to the people that had taken them in from nothing, pledging herself to serving the village well. Her background and expertise in conflict had granted her a seat on the War Council of Iwagakure, which she proudly sits at today.

The road forward is long and strenuous. She wonders if somebody will discover her order of an assassination someday, though nobody ever had come forward. Momochi sat comfortably at the top of the Ha, though battling with the demons of her past.

FIGHTING STYLE

True to her nature, Momochi is a perfectionist, even while in a fight. her goal is to finish the fight as quickly and effortlessly as possible. This pragmatic mindset is due in partial from her decades of experience of handling fights with her previous wielders, and extends to the person who may currently hold her. While strict, the woman is fair and willing be help teach them when necessary. She's supportive but doesn't tolerate any excuses as for reasons something didn't work or pan out. Every failure is just another lesson.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

『 Blood Forged: Ha Densetsu 』
Momochi's weapon form comes in the shape of a lavish looking katana, with the blade stylized to contain the silhouette of flowers that Momochi once used to find enjoyment in tending to at her home before the clan was split into two. The metal parts of the handle shimmer with gold, owing much to the woman's vanity that even her weapon form is a marvel to be use,d let alone seen. Beyond this, pink colored fabric is fashioned around the arm rest and topped off with a guard that runs along a short distance away from where the blade meets the tsubasa of the blade. The woman's avatar form appears as a humanoid cat who possesses the trademark abilities of a feline. Like other Densetsu, Momochi is unable to cast ninjutsu outside of her weapon state and her personality remains permanently fractured into being borderline childish in terms of her stubbornness and general demeanor. In exchange, genjutsu is rendered ineffective against her due to being too "simple minded" to process it. In addition, Momochi is immune to all forms of poisons or toxins while in her weapon form. When struck with an attack, she reverts back into her weapon form.

『 Brother in Arms 』
Like many other Ha, Momochi is able to interweave her chakra system with her wielder in order to amplify their combat abilities. When bonded with her wielder in this way, she becomes almost weightless and grants them further control over themselves. This bond is strong enough that the two can communicate with one another nonverbally, though is only in effect once Momochi and her wielder have a close relationship with one another.

『 Chakra Reactive 』
Like any legendary blade worth its weight, Momochi's learned through many battles of how to work in tandem with her wielder in order to support their abilities, so long as they share a chakra nature. Momochi infuses her weapon form with doton chakra across her form and enhances her wielder's abilities. This allows her to perform unique bukijutsu relating to her weapon form to command over her weight, build or size of her weapon.

『 Chakra Conductive 』
Not every body is going to share the same types of Ninjutsu as Momochi has. It's just another blunt fact of life. Although she can't extend the same amount of control and support as they would with matching elements, she's diversified herself to allow her weapon form to allow for slightly more benefit in their efforts. While in her weapon form, Momochi can have any chakra nature channeled through her for jutsu.
