Don’t just weather the storm.

Here she was again, in the middle of the training yard with not much else going on around her. She often found herself alone during these times, save for the instances where team one were scheduled to gather for group exercises or things of that nature. Other than that it was just Kazui and the world around her. The young girl preferred it this way honestly, the peace and quiet was undefeated and the fact that she didn’t have to carry anyone else’s slack but her own made it so much more enjoyable.

As the wind blew ever so gently, rustling the trees and bushes as it passed, Kazui would stand to her feet, looking to learn another jutsu, this one being much more difficult than any other she had attempted previously. But that wasn’t anything that weighed on her conscience, and it definitely didn’t prevent her from giving it a go. Whether she failed or not, and she was definitely expecting some bumps in the road, the girl would return the next day and the next day until she finally got a grasp on it. It was something she was known for, and she often received criticism for training so hard, but Kazui did not care.

"Where do I even start?” The young girl asked herself as she laid flat across the rather soft blades of grass. The wind cooled the area for a bit as she thought. There wasn’t a real plan of action for learning this technique, it was more or less just do it until you perfect it. Or something like that. Kazui dislikes that there wasn’t anyone there to help her brainstorm through this, part of her wanted to reach out to Hanabi but surely the girl wouldn’t know anything helpful to her, instead, the young Uchiha would simply just prop herself up to her feet and begin to think a bit harder.

Sighing softly beneath her breath, she would begin kicking the grass beneath her feet. "Think Kazui, think.” It was then that an older Uchiha would find his way into the training yard. Seeing the girl standing there made him wonder just what was going through the girl’s mind, why did she look so distraught? As he approached closer, he would inevitably end up grabbing the young girl’s attention, for a moment Kazui would stand there a bit startled that he had managed to sneak up on her, but she soon realized just who he was.

"O..Oi, Mr. Noboru.” The girl spoke softly with a smile curling around her lips. She would then take a deep bow before returning her gaze to the man. Noboru would simply smile and wave his hand dismissively, he was one of the rare Uchiha who didn’t really think that he was better than everybody else just because of the symbol that he wore on the back of his clothes. Despite the fact that he was a pretty decorated shinobi, back in his time he fought wars without even awakening his sharingan, and others may have looked down upon him for that reason but he surely had the respect of most within the clan.

"Kazui-chan…” He would speak joyfully, the same smile remained on his face. His voice was raspy, shaky even, a voice suited for a shinobi who had lived a full honorable life. "It looks as if you need some company.” The elder man added on as he sat upon a rock just a bit off away from Kazui. The girl would simply smile at the words he had spoken, he was more or less correct about his assumption, which was pretty funny to Kazui to say the least.

A playful sigh would escape from her breath as she gently shrugged her shoulder in response to the old man. "Well, I guess you are right, like always Noboru-Sama.” The girl voiced with a grin on her face. Perhaps it was his wisdom, or maybe it was the fact that he has come to know Kazui both as a shinobi and a human being, from current and previous experience with the girl’s family. So it has become rather easy for him to tell when the girl was distraught or down.

Gently scoffing the man would slowly nod his head, "You know…” He began, a beat of silence taken as he gathered his thoughts together. "I was the one who trained your father. Every since he was a small boy, I helped him with everything from his ninjutsu to giving him the courage to speak to Kazuya for the first time.” He explained before laughing at the latter portion of his saying, it was true, he helped with everything. Kazui would laugh as well, but her laughter would quickly begin to fade as the many memories of both her father and mother returned to her thoughts. The good and the bad, it all clouded her mind.

"You are more or less like your father, did you know that?” The man’s tired voice spoke to the girl. She didn’t want to acknowledge that, she felt as if she was a way better human being than that man could have ever been. Whether or not she was correct was unknown. That was for the world to decide, not her. Her hands began to form into fists, her nails digging into the palm of her hands as she took in a deep breath and exhaled, tryna to erase the thoughts from her mind.

"Yep...just like Ha…” Noboru would begin to say before Kazui quickly interrupted him. "Mr. Noboru can you help me learn this technique?” She would blurt out as quickly as possible, in which in return would cause the old man to chuckle behind his grey beard. "And what technique is that, if I may ask.” The girl would ponder for a bit. She didn’t know how to explain it or even if the man would be able to help her with this. A moment passed before she spoke.

"I want to surprise my mentor by learning a technique that he has.” She explained softly before continuing on, "It's just that, the thought of learning it is a bit daunting.” Kazui explained to the man.

For a moment, Noboru sat idly as he thought over the words that Kazui had said. He knew exactly who she was talking about and what jutsu she meant. "Senju Kazuto.” He spoke softly before continuing on. "Why don’t you just ask him to teach you? It would be more useful than asking an old geezer like myself.” The elderly man would joke, chuckling gently after his statement. And in honesty, that made more sense, but that wasn’t what Kazui wanted. She wanted to learn it on her own, so that she could surprise Kazuto.

"I want to do it without his help.” The girl explained softly, holding her hands closely to her side. "So will you help me, Mr. Noboru?” Kazui would ask politely, and for a moment the older man had his doubts. He questioned if someone like Kazui could even learn a technique like that at her level, but then again she did manage to learn Katon from Hiruko. Nevertheless, the man would stroke his beard gently, humming to himself as he thought over the options. At this point he knew it would be dumb to doubt Kazui, seeing how far she had came.

"I’ll try.” He would answer through a gentle sigh.

A smile quickly grew on the girl’s features as the joy radiating from her demeanor could be seen by the man who simply smiled in return. "Thank you, Mr. Noboru, you won’t regret it.” The young Uchiha would say happily as she clenched her fist even. The older man would simply nod his head.

"First things first, we have to see your progress. To see how close or far you are from actually being able to perform a technique of this caliber.” He spoke to the girl as he continued to watch on from his seated position. He knew that this would be a bumpy ride, so to ensure that he wouldn’t disappoint Kazui or have Kazui getting mad at herself, then he would show the girl her progress along the way. "Go ahead...attempt the jutsu.” He said softly, motioning his walking cane at the girl. Kazui would simply nod her head and lower her stance. The girl did not know jack squat about the jutsu other than the actions that her master would take as he prepared the jutsu, so the best that she could do at the moment is mimic ever action that Kazuto took, and so that’s what she did.

So, Kazui would lower her stance and begin to build her chakra as best as she possibly could. Her eyes were closed, and in her mind she would focus on visualizing her chakra to ensure there were no mishaps, she learned this from the Senju long ago, and it never failed her. Her breathing was controlled, and she was very calm as she continued to focus.

With her hand outstretched in front of her, the girl would begin to focus her chakra towards the center of her palm. It took a ton of control to do so, but somehow, someway she managed to do so. Noboru watched on through the lenses of his glasses, and the more he watched the more he realized that Kazui was wasting her time trying to form the chakra in her hand, but he didn’t intervene in the off chance that Kazui somehow managed to have a break through and actually form the ball of chakra within her hand.

"You’re doing great..” The man would voice quietly, but Kazui didn’t exactly hear him. She was too focused on the task at hand, forcing everything else around her to fade away. All there was in the void of her mind, was herself and space.

The longer this continued, the more fatigued Kazui could feel herself becoming. Noboru was surprised at her beginning progress, despite the fact that the girl was still a long ways away from even getting close to perfecting the jutsu that her master had made look so easy. Nevertheless, she showed that she was a bit more advanced than your typical genin, as a rookie genin at that.

The girl continued on, feeling the exhaustion overcome every inch of her body the longer she tried. Kazuto made it look so easy, yet it was not easy in the slightest. Matter of fact, Kazui would even go as far as saying that it was the single hardest jutsu that she wanted to learn. She knew this of course, if her mentor was wielding it then surely it was a very powerful jutsu of high caliber that could serve many purposes. The more she thought of this, the more discouraged the girl became. Doubt began to fill her mind, and soon enough the girl would begin to ask herself...what the hell was she doing. She couldn’t do it without Kazuto, she did not even know why she was trying at this point.

One moment things felt as if they were going well, the next moment Kazui would find herself exhausted. Dropping to her hands and knees, and breathing heavily, it was clear that she was pushing herself too hard. Grabbing the grass between her fingers, the girl would pull the blades from the dirt before slapping her hand against the ground. She felt so close yet so far at the same time, Kazuto’s guidance was definitely what she needed if she wanted to learn this particular jutsu.

Noboru would stand to his feet as best as he could, his age showing as he tried to make his way over towards the girl and stoop down to place a hand on her shoulder. "You tried your hardest, and honestly even when you failed, you managed to surprise me.” The man would say wisely before pushing himself back up to his somewhat full height. "If you keep practicing you’ll have it down packed in no time, kiddo.” He would add on cheekily. That advice was not much Kazui could really fall back on to make herself feel better, and the compliment fell upon deaf ears, nevertheless she would nod her head in agreement to keep trying.

"Hai.” She would say softly, her head still hanging lowing as she pushed herself up to a seated position. His words did not mean much to her, she still felt like a failure. Well, she was a failure, and Noboru’s words did not do much to help her think otherwise. It did however make the girl not want to give up so easily. She wanted to learn the jutsu without Kazuto’s help, to show him just how strong she was. But it seemed as if that was only a dream that was far away from being reality.

Noboru would dig around in his pouch for a brief moment before pulling out two items which seemed to have no correlation with the situation at hand. An empty balloon, and a rubber ball. Kazui wasn’t sure what the hell he planned to do with those items, but she didn’t really want to question him. He had more knowledge around these things than she could ever dream of. Without really saying much, the elderly man would walk over towards the small stream of water that was flowing through the middle of the training yard. Stretching out the balloon, he would then fill it halfway with water before using his breath to fill the rest of the balloon with air.

"Here.” The man would say as he handed the girl the balloon that was filled with water and air. For a moment Kazui was a bit hesitant on what the man was getting at, but she would accept the balloon nonetheless, expecting some sort of explanation on what she exactly needed it for. Humming as the balloon sat in her hand, the contents motioning back and forth within the rubbery latex, she would look up towards Noboru just as he began to speak.

"If your chakra disturbs the balloon enough, then it will burst..” The man would explain. Kazui on the other hand would simply just look up to him, confused on what bursting the balloon had to do with her learning the jutsu. Noboru would simply smile before adding onto his previous explanation. "You see, the jutsu you are trying to learn requires you to mold your chakra beyond normal capabilities. In fact, you’re simply molding your chakra into a ball, much like that balloon you have there.” Taking a moment to look at the balloon, Kazui would simply just nod her head, and to an extent it actually made sense to her. She understood that part, but was still confused on the concept behind it.

It was obvious to the old man that Kazui just wanted him to hurry up and get to the point behind him handing her a wet balloon, so he wouldn’t waste much time beating around the bush. "When the balloon pops, it means that you are one step closer to molding your chakra the way it needs to be.” He would say before continuing on, "Then after that, you’ll move on to this.” Noboru would toss the rubber ball up before quickly catching it. "Same concept, it’s just much … much harder than the balloon. Easy enough to understand?”

Kazui understood, but she had doubts of just how she would be able to burst the balloon just by simply molding her chakra. The old man made it sound so simple, but when Kazui gave it a shot she quickly found out that was far from the case. Noboru would simply return to his rock and take a seat as he watched the girl struggle for minutes on end. With both of her hands wrapped securely around the balloon, she would focus her chakra as best as she possibly could, giving it her all just to mold her chakra to mimic the shape of the ball of water and air.

For a moment, nothing much really happened. The girl simply sat there, here eyes resting as she tried to control her breathing as well as her thoughts. In her mind there was nothing there, only herself and the water balloon. The various sounds of nature seemed to fade away, from the chirping of the birds, to the running waters of the river cutting through the training yard, it all seemed to disappear as Kazui shifted her focus to only herself and the task at hand.

Her chakra wasn’t really doing much, despite the fact that she was doing alright earlier, but now her chakra wasn’t even disturbing the water within the balloon, let alone shake the actual balloon itself. The longer she sat there, the more aggravated she became, despite that fact, the girl was still trying her best to keep a cool and collected mindset.

"You are doing great, Kazui. Just keep at it.” The old man would say, but unfortunately the words would fall on deaf ears. The girl wasn’t paying much attention to anything other than finely focusing her chakra into the palm of her hand, hoping that it could cause just enough force to pop the balloon and send water flying everywhere.

Noboru for the most part understood that Kazui was in her zone, so when his compliments went without much of an answer from the girl, he was concerned about it in any way. Actually, when it came down to it, he was actually quite proud of the young girl in a way. Whenever she wanted something, she put it in her crosshairs and attacked until her goal was achieved. It was the way she was, Kazuto often had talks with her for this reason, saying that it’s okay to relax. However, she felt different.

Dark hues focused on the girl as she continued training, a bead of sweat rolling down past her brow as her concentration remained unyielding. Standing up again, the man would make his exit. Leaving without saying any goodbyes or anything of that nature, he didn’t want to disturb the girl as she was training. However, before he left the man would roll the rubber ball right towards Kazui, it’s momentum carrying it just beside the girl before it’s roll came to an end.

The girl wouldn’t notice anything, but she did feel a sort of emptiness overcome her. She wasn’t able to tell if he was there or not.
