Opting to explore both paths, Toru created a clone of himself and send it towards the steel door at the end of that hall, while the original one went to the left where the smell continued to grow stronger the closer he got. The clone would approach the door and be able to examine it. It was made of solid steel, almost like the door of a safe. It was almost impossible to be forced open by most, but that door was not beyond Toru's abilities, if he made an effort. Obviously it would create quite some noise. Speaking of which, he could hear someone mumbling on the other side of it. Due to how thick the door was and the fact that they were underground, it was hard to understand what was being said, but if he focused enough, he would be able to at least notice that there were a minimum of two different voices, it was a conversation.
Meanwhile, the original Toru continued down the hall for a minute or so, until the path he was walking on became a bridge of sort. On the floor below, six large steel tanks with a neon-green liquid inside of it. Occasionally, the liquid would bubble up, and a thin fog came out of it. Those tanks, more specifically, that thin fog, was the source of the smell he had been following so far.
The room was rather large, the ceiling seemed to be at least 10 metres above the walkway Toru found himself at. The walkway continued through through this room, leading to a longer path, but it was too dark to see the end of it. The room below, where the large tanks of boiling liquid were seemed to have a door at the right side of it, near a computer of sort that seemed to be controlling the temperature and other functions of the tank.
