It had been a few weeks since the end of the exams, with Taki just barely passing, it was enough for Midori to consider handing her position to the girl so that she could enjoy the rest of her time with her son and lover. However, her days of rest and relaxation were short lived as she found herself being called back to Tsuchi no Kuni just days after she had finally settled within Takigakure. In an instant, the former sage would find herself traveling through space and time, a dull grey-ish blur was all that the woman saw as she was seemingly pulled through dimensions before suddenly reappearing at the feet of one of her most loyal and trusted summons.

An exhausted look worn on the woman’s face would indicate that she was a bit upset about being summoned back to the land of stone so soon, but nevertheless she was happy to see their familiar faces. Dressed in an elegant white silk dress that were from detached on the sides - something that Midori wouldn’t normally wear but she had to adjust to her life in the swamps of Takigakure.

"Ketka.” The woman spoke her greetings, looking around the area to see a few notable beings, the most important being her former student. Nevertheless, Midori was expecting a run down of everything.

"Sorry for bothering so soon Lady Midori, but as you know there is a dire issue that we’re faced with, and we need your assistance.”

The giant gorilla explained, holding a small scroll with the tips of his giant fingers - handing it to the woman to look over. "Yes. I see, thank you Ketka.” Midori spoke as she collected the scroll and began reading.

"Yoichi. Hiroshi. Sadao.” The woman read the names of the summons that needed to be handled before rolling the scroll up and putting it out to her side for the chunin to collect. "Taki.” Since she would be taking over as the sage, this was her mission mostly, Midori was only there to make sure everything went smoothly. "Ready?” The woman asked.

Looks like the hits just keep coming, Taki had only really taken on the mantle of sage for about 3 weeks and just when she figured it’d be training there was already dissension, three gorillas had attempted to breach the contract and escape the compound but with the power they had and their intentions unknown it was up to Taki to track them down but she wasn’t exactly too sure where to start and needed to get some help so asked a few of the elder apes to summon Midori.

It had been a while since they’d spoken and since then Taki had changed quite a bit trying to make herself more so look the part, long grown out hai a new longer coat and a new attitude, more like a grown woman rather than a small child. She had also grown quite a bit now just about 6 feet tall, she stood a few inches over her new master. "Good ta see ya, Miss Midori, sorry to pull ya out of retirement so suddenly, nice dress by da way." After a moment the girl would craft a few handseals and summon forth Aki, who would perch himself on his shoulder.

"Alright little buddy think ya can help us, track em down?” Aki would hoot and holler letting his sniffer do the work to try and track down the other apes who had gone missing 3 in total each one posing their own series of challenges. "Of awl da apes it had ta be dose three, sheesh.” the girl would say as she waited for Aki to sniff out the location of one of the three apes. "Yoichi and Sadao I think had been particularly hard to woik with and they seem ta be good buddies with Hiroshi I'm surprised I didn't see the writin on da walls." the girl would say lamenting her naivety. "But don't worry Ketka I'll bring our boys back!" she'd say looking to the large ape.

To say that the woman didn’t miss her former student and all of the summons that she had known since she was 17 would be a bold face lie on Midori’s part. Seeing how much they’ve all grown almost moved her to tears, but there wasn’t any time for her to truly reflect on each and every tiny detail that she noticed. Taki now stood well above her, which was more or less expected, giving the impression that she may have matured a bit as well - but only time would tell.

"It’s always a pleasure to see you too, Taki, there is no need to apologize. It is what I’m here for after all.” The woman spoke, giving the blue eyed angel a heartwarming smile as they continued on. As for the compliment on her dress, well Midori would just laugh.

"Yeah, I suppose it suits me well enough.”

Ryu ensured that she would be taken care of in all regards, and the man truly kept to his word. Nevertheless, there were some last minute adjustments that Taki needed to make, the first being summoning her trusty companion, Aki Aki. Midori waved at the small thing, though there always came great danger when bringing a smaller summon along. Despite the concerns however, the former sage had enough confidence in Taki to let her make her own decisions.

"In all honesty, I can’t say I’m surprised. There have been many disagreements throughout the years but I never expected Yoichi to take it this far.” The woman sighed as she shook her head shamefully. Perhaps she wasn’t as great of a sage as she thought herself to be, which was the reason they were having to right this wrong now.

Ketka would escort the duo to the front gates, ensuring their well deserved send off out of respect for his former summoner as well as his current.

"I will hold you to that, little one.”

Making their way out of the forest’s gates, Midori would take a few steps ahead, drawing blood from her own thumb as handseals flashed quickly just before she’d slam her hand down to the earth - there was no reaction to be had. "This is bad, but nothing that we can’t handle, right?” She reassured the sage.

"I’m ready to move whenever you are.”

As the two were escorted to the gates Taki would look to the large Ketka. "Don’t worry I got dis.” the gates would be opened by Ketka and the two would be allowed out the gates. From there Midori would note that she hadn't expected things to get this bad, Taki would offer a comforting shoulder. "Hey it ain't your fault, people and I guess in dis case animals have disagreements." however in response to that her little chimp companion would wrap his little hands around her neck to which Taki would chuckle. "But, These summons dere can be dangerous so we can’t just let em run loose and I ain’t keen on fightin em unless I gots too.” the girl would say. She’d then look to her small chimp companion. "Anything little buddy?” Taki would say Aki Aki would then point towards the north. "Alright den…in the meantime…you know what to do.” Aki would hoot an holler his description and Taki would look to him raising up three fingers.

"Alright buddy who is 1 for Yoichi 2 for Sadao and 3 for Hiroshi.” Aki Aki would tap on Taki’s middle finger of the three. "Sadao eh…aw’right, let’s go.” as the two of them were on the move Taki would head forward alongside her teacher. "So from what I rememba Sadao was particularly good up close, he used to toss me around like a rag dawl when I foist got ere…” the girl would think to herself and attempt to formulate a strategy as she moved along with her teacher.

"But he’s also da weakest o da trio so he shouldn’t be too hard, I say we try to tawlk him down foist and if dat don’t woik we wrangle em up!” Taki was almost always one to let her hands do the talking rather than to try and negotiate but it would seem in Midori’s absence the girl developed something of a cooler head. And while truth be told she’d much prefer a good scrap she knew she was better off trying to bring them back unharmed since she knew she needed to rely on them in the future. Who knows maybe if she was able to hear their grievances then maybe they could resolve things peacefully or at least she’d like to hope so.

Come to think of it, Midori did recall Yoichi threatening to leave once before, but she never thought much of it, though this was years before she had even met Taki. Looking back on those times the woman often felt as if she were a bit too lenient and was a push over to some extent - though now after suffering major losses, that couldn’t be further from the truth. In all honesty, Midori could’ve handled this on her own had it happened whenever she were still in charge, but for now she would Taki run the show.

The former sage watched as Taki and her summon interacted with one another, truly wholesome, it often made the woman feel bad that she had to be so brash just to get them to listen to her. She sighed as she watched the blonde haired child keep good spirits - even when Midori had once threatened to kick them all out.

"So Sadao is the closest?” She spoke gently. Midori was aware of what they were all capable of doing, and underestimating any of them could easily lead to an untimely demise. "Do keep in mind that they are just like us, they move in troops, so if one is nearby then the others aren’t too far ahead either.” This was considered a B Rank mission by those in the sage compound, but with the amount of manpower the gorillas had, it was easily closer to an S Rank at least in terms of the amount of danger they could possibly be faced with.

"I agree the best course of action would be to use our words first, as we are diplomats for not only the sage compound, but Iwagakure and Tsuchi no Kuni as well.”

Though the chances of things ending peacefully were slim to none. Nevertheless, she’d give her former student a smile as realization dawned upon her that the young teen was thinking more like a sage - which was great news and a huge relief for Midori.

Not before long, the duo of kunoichi would stumble back onto the main road. The group continued down the path, trying to find any clues or traces that may have been left behind. She could’ve used her sage mode to help their cause, but the woman wanted to reserve her energy…just in case. They were close to the border, so they had to be close. "Be aware of your surroundings, do you see any clues or evidence indicating that they might’ve gone this way?” She asked, almost reverting back into her teaching ways. There were a few clues that Midori herself found, the most evident being a sole handprint in the dirt that led off-road and into another dense forest nearby, the least evident was well the fact that there was another forest.

As the girl prepared to make her move forward her teacher would give her some extra instruction about the situation at hand and that they likely move in groups, Taki would look over towards Aki. "Right, so we betta be careful den eh?” the girl would remark with that the two would head off and after relaying her plan Taki felt proud that her teacher concurred after all. "See, I got dis.” she’d say patting herself on the back in her usual overconfident fashion but then came another good question while the two of them traveled together asking if there were any clues as the girl made her way forward she was careful to observe her surroundings in order to see if there was anything she might notice.

As they kept up the pace Taki would eventually note on one of the trees in front of her a distinct footprint, she’d stop to analyze it for a moment recognizing it as a gorilla track. "Dis enough of a clue?” the girl would say looking to her teacher. "Dey must be close.” Taki would stop for a moment in order to consider her options and would craft a shadow clone in order to move ahead. "Go awn ahead we’ll keep behind.” she’d allow the clone to race ahead of her, and then position herself to move.

"We use da clone to try and draw em out, ya know negotiate. Den if da deal goes bad we spring em!” the girl would say seeming rather confident in her plan as she pounded her fist into her hand. Aki Aki would nod his head concurring with the idea, once the clone was far enough out Taki would keep pursuit. "C'mawn let's move." she'd say moving ahead.

Midori would give the girl a single nod, confirming that she indeed picked up on one of the clues - and that it must’ve meant that their targets were nearby. Watching as the sage formed a shadow clone, Midori would move along as well, making sure to stay aware of her surroundings. The forest was a bit scattered out in some areas, and in others the forest was dense enough to conceal many people who may have been hiding in shrubs.

In regards to Taki’s plan, it very well could’ve worked, but there wasn’t much of a chance of them listening to Taki at this point in her career. "We’ll give it a try, but do be ready to give it your all at a moment’s notice.” Midori stated quietly, she couldn’t stress enough just how dangerous this was for them and others who may stumble across them. She was a bit worried and upset for allowing something like this to happen.

As the two continued on, there grew a strange feeling in the woman’s stomach.

The clone that Taki sent ahead would be the first to run into one of the apes. In a flash he’d appear, leaping from the trees and onto the clone once it’s back was turned, digging his fingers into the girl’s face - attempting to rip it apart. Though it was simply a shadow clone, and nothing else - which was something Sadao was unaware of.

The rustling of the leaves and the scattering of birds was enough evidence for Midori to know that they were just up ahead. Taki on the other hand, wouldn’t exactly know unless her clone was destroyed by the attack - relaying the information back to her.

Midori kept a calm demeanor and continued to walk albeit in a somewhat brisk pace, she knew trying to rush ahead would be foolish as they would get to them soon enough, however she did want them handled immediately in case others who frequented the forest wouldn’t stumble across them and not be torn apart in cold blood.

As Taki’s clone would move ahead Taki’s clone would look around at the environment and would find itself jumped by one of the gorilla’s that would latch onto her and attempt to tear her face apart which caused the clone to be destroyed the memory would be burned into Taki’s mind mentally causing her to flinch to a degree. "Yeah they’re nearby.” she’d say looking back at her small chimp stopping a safe distance from them, taking time out to meditate and gather sage energy.

"We might wanna be prepared…dey don’t sound like dere gonna give us a chance to catch out breath, but still we stick to the plan, we tawlk foist den attack if dey don’t listen.” She’d say looking back at her teacher, and then darting her head over towards her summon to give an order. "Imma need you to be gathering on standby okay little buddy?” with that the girl would take some time to gather a small amount of sage energy, hoping that maybe Midori’s clone might be able to buy them some time.

This was one of her first big tests as a sage and she needed to make certain she got this job done and done right. Sage animals were dangerous if left unattended but she needed to make sure to keep them in line, even if it meant using a bit of force.

Midori would come to a stop in order to listen to her student and allow the girl and her companion the opportunity to collect as much energy as they needed. Although they didn’t have a lot of time to spare, Midori was willing to take a minute or so. Light brown eyes watched over the blonde, thoughts running a mile a minute. Midori had once been in her shoes, though at a somewhat older age, so she understood the pressure of what it was like handling their first mission as a sage. There was little room for error, and it seemed as if Taki was aware of this.

Midori would sigh gently beneath her breath as she ran her hand through her hair. Once Taki was ready however, Midori would continue moving, albeit a bit ahead of Taki and her companion

It didn’t take long for Midori to reach the point of interest where Taki’s clone had been destroyed. Looking around would show that they might have moved on….or. Before Midori could give much thought, both Sadao and Hiroshi would leap down from their trees, attempting the same assassination attempt as before, however Midori was no easy target, and surely Taki had knowledge of what they were planning as her clone had already suffered the fate, nevertheless the two would miss it by a mile.

"Look what we have here, Hiroshi!” Sadao exclaimed as if there was humor in the situation. "I think Master Yoichi would love to see their heads roll? What do you say?” The gorilla asked, looking towards his higher up.

"Indeed.” Hiroshi responded blandly. "But I don’t think he’ll be able to do so, because I’m going to tear them both limb from limb here and now.” Cracking his knuckles, the more experienced ape would prepare for battle. He talked a big game, but bestowed no fear amongst Midori, and surely not against Taki she assumed. Midori would simply look towards the young blonde, seeing if she still wanted to try to talk things through, and more so seeing how the girl would respond knowing their intent. Would she follow through with the plan? It would be best practice.

As the girl would attempt to gather some sage energy Aki would do so as well not sacrificing any to Taki herself however and after a moment the girl would begin her transformation as she overheard their words, the girl was slowly becoming furious the glass mindscape she had slowly breaking. And as the transformation completed the girl would turn and face them the transformation looking noticeably cleaner than before her fur now only covering a portion of her body and some of her human features being retained it still wasn’t perfect but she was getting a sharp handle on the form.

"After everything we did for you guys…dats how you treat us!” is what she thought and what she wanted to say. "Why’re you doing this?” the girl would ask looking to the two with a stern look much like the one Midori would often shoot them, Aki who was busy meditating didn’t look them in the eye but he could hear just fine and did his best not to let Taki’s words distract him.

"You guys are supposed to be our companions, so tawlk…you betta have a damn good reason for dis.” her words were a bit rough and the gorillas would more than likely understand that the words while somewhat genuine weren’t indicative of Taki’s true nature in truth however she was stalling for time even if it was just a little bit taking them on would be a tall order and she was going to need all the sage chakra she could get.

The two apes broke away from one another, slowly and methodically, almost as if they were planning on circling the kunoichi - sizing them up as Taki asked the question of why. Midori could tell by the look in their eyes that the two had no intention of answering, but much to the lady’s surprise Sadao would give a half-assed explanation as he continued to prowl. Previous experiences would cause the jonin to rotate herself with each step that the apes took, never letting either of them get a clear look at her back.

"Well you see..we never liked her. We never liked you, and we never liked any of those so-called apes who oh-so casually bow their heads to the likes of you two.” He hissed, large fangs showing as the young gorilla continued to grow more and more hostile. "We were never your companions. That isn’t what we decided to be, it’s what you and all those other humans forced us to be.” Hiroshi explained, his voice growing softer and softer as both he and Sadao came to a complete stop across from one another with Midori and Taki in the middle. The experienced ape would draw in a deep breath, before his eyes shot daggers toward Midori.

"But not anymore.”

In what felt like an instant, Sadao would spring towards Taki with ferocity, more than likely causing her to break away from Midori, and on the other hand Hiroshi would spring towards the former sage. Naturally, the woman would bring her guard up, shielding her throat and face with her forearms. She was expecting an impact of some sort, but failure to feel anything whatsoever brought an even greater concern, quickly coming to the realization that the two looked to eliminate Taki first, before eventually turning their attention to Midori. They tried to hold her down, and even attempted to tear away at Aki Aki as well.

Spinning on her heels, Midori gritted her teeth, even more pissed off than before that they would do something so low down. But they were criminals after all, and it was in their best interest to eliminate the girl first. Chakra poured into the woman’s hair as 5 dark brown tendrils shot forward, wrapping around Sadao’s neck, wrists, and ankles. Restricting his movements before slingshotting him into the depths of the forest.

For Hiroshi however, he would continue his assault towards Taki, using his speed and strength to his advantage, trying to get ahold of her so that he could sink his fangs into the girl’s neck - promptly ending her life.

As the girl would listen to the creatures talk she made sure that Aki kept up his meditation buying herself some time for him to give her something to work with, they would speak but Taki could tell by their intentions they were up to no good as the two would speak she’d hang on to their every word but the moment their intentions changed Taki kept her guard up her sage mode allowing to not only sense the amount of chakra that the two had but also gave her a semblance of a danger sense that allowed her to know that something was coming.

As they raced towards her the girl would leap back before Sadao could get the chance to do any lasting damage, but after a short moment when she readied herself to strike Sadao was snatched away by Midori’s tendrils, with the momentary reprieve she looked to Hiroshi who was gaining but using her sage mode to her advantage the girl would grab hold of his arm and use the momentum of her motion to spin him around in mid air sending a surge of lighting into her body whilst simultaneous snapping his arm with her titanic grip.

After completing her rotations she’d throw him into a nearby tree which when added to the velocity of her titanic throw would create a colossal impact as he collided with the tree, if she managed to keep herself safe from his onslaught the girl would land on a nearby tree branch and look to Aki. "Keep holding on buddy.” the girl would say encouraging Aki Aki to continue to mold chakra for her. Taki would keep her senses honed in on her own foe checking his chakra signature to see if he was still alive, taking the moment to give herself a reprieve whilst her foe laid in the rubble, Midori would be fine on her own…right?

Hiroshi would get to Taki’s location with little to no problem, his speed and taijutsu prowess along with his overall higher rank would work in his favor as he closed the distance. Though Taki was stronger than before and amped with sage mode, these apes however knew everything about it and understood that they didn’t have much to fear when it came to Taki as she was young and still very inexperienced. Regardless, as he got up close, Hiroshi would lower his body and rotate himself with a single leg stretched outward - looking to sweep the girl’s legs from under her. If successful, he would look to drag the teen by her ankle and sling her into the trees with all his might.

Meanwhile on the other hand, Midori couldn’t help but to shake this strange feeling, there was a feeling of more power coming. Her heart sank like a rock for a moment as it felt like they were being surrounded and watched, yet there was no one else in sight. The woman understood that Sadao was thrown into the woods, and she had a fair understanding of his location, so the only other explanation there could be was Yoichi making his way towards the battlefield.

Midori gritted her teeth as she looked up towards the sky, but she couldn’t see anything beyond the tall trees. As she was looking however, a fireball erupted from the guise of the forest, igniting the trees and all other vegetation in the area as it was shot near her with ferocity. The fireball itself died down just before it could reach Midori and Taki, but the forests around them quickly went up in flames. Sadao himself didn’t bother returning to the area, but instead quickly turned away and went for back up.

Smoke filled the area, making it difficult to breath and see clearly. Branches from the surrounding trees fell from the sky, covered in ash and flames. Seeing the walls of fire and realizing that this was bad for him, Hiroshi would try to make an escape as well, perhaps distracting him from Taki.

With the momentary reprieve as Hiroshi would close in on her but with her honed reflexes the girl would note his low swinging leg and would leap into the air and smash him in the chest with a powerful dropkick that would hopefully knock him off of the branch and send him plummeting after landing her strike however the girl would use the momentum from her kick to launch herself towards a branch. But as this happened the orange plume of flames could be seen his leg and then release him, using the tree climbing technique to keep her balance on the branches of the trees. But as this happened the bright orange hues of flames would rain down but stop just short creating a large plume of smoke.

With that the girl would look around noting that her teacher was in trouble but it was getting hard to see and but with the last vestiges of her sage mode she managed to see Hiroshi fleeing would make her way towards him in order to pin him down. "Eyy Miss Midori I’m going after Hiroshi!” if she managed to make her way out of the battle she’d attempt to try and keep up with the gorilla as Aki would continue to gather sage mode energy.

Taki's honed reflexes allowed her to avoid the attack and put her in a good position for a counter attack, which the Okada did with a powerful drop kick. Hiroshi was sent down to the ground, grunting loudly in pain from her attack, sending him down to the ground, just as the flames started engulfing the area. Hiroshi is injured and winded, struggling to get up as the fire spread out around him, filling the area with thick smoke. The ape started coughing, both from the attack and from the smoke; the kick wouldn't be enough to take him down, but the lack of oxygen was doing a number on the ape.

With no other alternative, Hiroshi spent all of his power and energy to try and flee. Noticing that, Taki told Midori that she would be chasing him, hoping her master would be able to take on the other two opponents on her own. Midori was a strong, experienced sage, if anything could do it, it would be she, and so, Taki started chasing after Hiroshi.

It was hard to see and also to breathe, but after a few minutes chasing, they both managed to get out of the smoke, and the overall situation improved. Taki could see the injured ape leaping from branch to branch, but the injuries were taking its tools on his speed. If the Chuunin pressed a bit further, she was likely going to be able to catch him.
