Yamamoto Eri

Eri looked up to see Hana perched on the table staring down at the seal, the Yamamoto raising an eyebrow at this for a long moment before the arrival of the Academy Instructor who seemed equally interesting. Honestly, at this point Eri was starting to feel a little embarassed at so many people being involved in her struggles with Fuuinjutsu, it felt like she should at least be able to use Hikin by now after all. Unfortunately that wasn't the case, and now she was trying not to blush too much in her shame.

Watching the instructor pull out abrush and try and demonstrate what she was doing wrong definitely didn't help her embarassment, it made her feel her age in a way that was rather uncomfortable. It had been a while since she had been treated like just a regular student.

Still, it helped to have someone show her the actual way to draw the dang thing, and so she picked up the brush and carefully followed the pattern in the way she was shown, trying to ignore the mnemonic she'd been given because that was just a little too embarassing. Still, she felt she had managed to get the whole thing after one viewing. It was now just a matter of seeing if she was right.

Turning to Akane, she managed to quietly ask "how is that?" without letting her shame show too much. She didn't want to try it without being sure so best to ask. She couldn't look over at Hana, that would become too embarassing.

FUJIYAMA AKANE
ACADEMY INSTRUCTOR

Blissfully ignorant to Eri’s embarrassment, having never apparently experienced the emotion herself, Akane nodded enthusiastically as she watched Eri make another attempt at the Hikin seal. Her brushstrokes were slow, careful, methodical, displaying an excellent imitation of Akane’s demonstration.

"Good observation, Hana-chan,” the instructor said, peering at Eri’s prior attempt again. Then, in response to the Murahira’s question: "I like to make the rounds after classes let out. Some of my students have clan mentors they train with, or just like to get extra practice in on their own, so I poke my head around to see if anyone needs help before I go home for the day.”

Eri, meanwhile, had finished writing her seal, and softly asked for Akane’s evaluation. She looked it over carefully, examining each brushstroke with laser-precision, before nodding decisively.

"Looks good to me!” she said brightly. "Nice work, kiddo. Charge it up and then do it again, just to make sure you’ve got it down right. Anything else you girls want help with?”

Hana fixed her vibrant blue eyes on Akane while she spoke, and once she had finished her explanation, turned her attention back to Eri with a mumbled sound of acknowledgement. It had been sufficient to sate her curiosity.

Her captain was focused on perfecting the seal for use in the future. It would be a valuable asset for her, especially as a puppeteer, so Hana understood the desire. She knew Eri would succeed, even if it was not on the next attempt, because her expression was not one someone on the verge of giving up would have.

Once Eri was finished and Akane suggested she test it out, Hana plucked a kunai from inside her kimono, and after a quickly flourish and twirl along her fingertips, set it on the table.

"Use this," Hana suggested.

For a small seal like Eri had been practicing on, a single kunai would be an excellent test object.

"I think I've done everything I need to for the moment, but thank you, Sensei."

Hana would undoubtedly practice more. She wasn't the type to call it quits so early in the day, however, it would be spent refining what she had already learned, rather than trying to learn something new. There was still plenty to master, and mastery took time and effort.

Yamamoto Eri

Turning to look at Hana for a moment, Eri took the offered kunai and placed it on the seal, putting a little chakra into it and watching the weapon disappear in a puff of smoke. A moment later and a bit more chakra had the kunai reappear in another puff of smoke. Taking the weapon in hand, she examined it carefully to make sure that nothing had been damaged by the seal, but it seemed that she had managed to successfully create a functional seal.

Nodding slightly at the instructions, she took up another piece of paper and tried to redo the seal again, careful, slow movements allowing her to make sure that her efforts were replicable. Once again the kunai disappeared into the scroll and was retrieved without any difficulties or destruction of the weapon.

"Thank you for your assistance, Hana-san, Akane-san" she said quietly with a bow before returning the kunai to Hana and putting together another couple of attempts to do the seal, just to make sure that she really had it set. When she could make the seal quickly enough to satisfy her own standards the Yamamoto got to her feet and nodded to Hana and Akaen.

"I have other duties to attend to, I thank you again," she said as she made a single handseal and disappeared in the burst of shunshin. She didn't actually have anything else to do, but she had reached the end of her embarassment and needed to get away. Socialising was hard...
