While Arashi had certainly been expecting speed and some level of strength as described, she wasn't exactly prepared for what came at her as the sudden move set seemed to blend together and give way to her direction. The quick, rabbit like movement, along with the sudden burst of speed had been more than enough to raise her brow, yet as the chop slammed against her side, her sand field would quickly pick up the slack in defending her, showing the indent along it's edge as it soon began to refill itself within moments. "Huh? Guess ya weren't kiddin..." With her expression calm, the teen would then move in as well, allowing chakra to move through her limbs as she'd lurch outward to meet the monk head on. Though she was counting on the increase in speed to allow her to counter much of what Hitsukai would throw, she'd also leave what looked to be trances of dust along the surface of the ground and in the air, letting them meld into the area beneath their feet as she moved in. In closing the gap, the young female would slash her hand forward in an attempt to force the shinobi back, yet she'd keep one hand free as a means to call forth a defense. Arashi was by no means a close range fighter, but she had learned a long time ago that often the best way to push through a heavy defense was to get in close. Though she wasn't exactly using everything right now, she was trying to gauge Hitsukai's technique and strategy, which meant testing his own offensive with her own. SPOILER: Click to show -S.A Used- Will of Sand Will of Sand- Adding the element of her own chakra into the mixture of sand, Arashi is capable of faster and stronger sand manipulation and attacks. The extent of this control is due to the supply gathered within her gourd, granting the bonus of power, but limited to only the amount contained within it. This ability makes her constructions more dense and harder to break down, and the swiftness of their creation is instant rather than requiring the prior time of build-up as before due to the strengthened bond between Arashi and Shukaku. Ultimate Defense A Skill granted by her continued use and developed relationship with Shukaku over the continued use of his control over sand, Arashi has a stronger connection to the element, allowing her to use it at a much more intensive rate than before. As such, her defenses are much more adapt and capable of taking on stronger attacks and reinforcing itself at faster speed. This adaptation to the sand shield allows for it's reaction time to have increased and make it more challenging for attacks to connect and break through the first layer, while acting still on the natural inclinations of auto-repairing itself for the next strike. Sand Control Arashi is granted two forms of defense by the Ichibi. The first one is a subconscious ability granted by the Bijuu is that there is constantly a barrier of sand clinging to Arashi’s skin. This barrier acts as a shield against her skin, absorbing heavy blows and protecting her. Her sand defense is very tough, being very difficult to break through. The sand has been likened to steel and concrete. The second form is one which pulls sand from her surroundings and the sand piled on her skin to form a visible barrier and dome like barrier around her. The sand is typically pulled from the ground and any nearby source. Arashi’s various dogs often have a plentiful amount of sand carried in their thick coats. As such, the sand is often pulled from their coats to be used to protect the girl. Through the course of her training, Arashi has learned to control both of these forms of defense to a degree, making her much more capable of mounting a defense in a variety of ways. But she still at times must incumbent some cooperation from Shukaku to ensure of it's sustainability. Arashi can control sand and wind around herself to whip up sandstorms with powerful gusts. The sandstorm often appears when she’s emotionally strained and damaged. If there is no sand around her, powerful breezes will still gather around her. Shukaku enjoys teasing the girl to the point where sandstorms appear. But with the course of time, Arashi had grown more comfortable with this and developed a thick skin towards such actions by the Bijuu. While Arashi had previous had little to no control over her other sand related abilities, she has a somewhat capable hand at this one. Because of the trauma of her sand attacking her classmates at a young age, Arashi has managed to reign in some of this power. Learning to bend the sand to her will, Arashi can keep it from hurting those she doesn’t want it to hurt. Sand will be gathered from nearby sources to be used as a weapon when this ability activates. This ability typically only activates when Arashi is in severe danger, but it has now become possible for her to do so with ease. Though it is more prone to activating near or on full moons. The sand takes the form of blunt objects or tendrils to bash or choke enemies. During moments of extreme strain, Arashi loses all control over this ability as well. -Jutsu Used- NAME: Sokudo [Literally Meaning Speed] RANK: B CHAKRA USAGE: High [Continuous] CLASSIFICATION: Taijutsu ELEMENT: - HANDSEALS: 0 DESCRIPTION: Sokudo is a method of using chakra passively to reinforce the body's physical capabilities. Such things are movement-based rather than just brute strength would. It gives the user's muscle stimulation, allowing increased hand movement, wrist, arms, and even the legs. This can be used to just have everything work more proficiently. Though, after being used for more than seven posts, the user's muscles will be sore as if they just did an extensive workout. IF continued to be used, eleven posts will begin to break down muscle. Intense pain followed, forced technique shut down. NAME: Sunano Senshingu[ Sand Sensing] RANK: B CHAKRA USAGE: Low CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu ELEMENT: Jiton DESCRIPTION: By dispersing chakra enhanced sand into a specific area, the user is able to discern the presence of bodies that come into direct contact with it. This sensing sand can be spread across a wide terrain of 100 feet, or even float in the air allowing aerial foes to be detected for an extended range of 150 feet due to it's lack of being stationary. Once the sand comes in contact with a person, it will wrap itself around them, rendering even invisible targets, visible. NAME: Inu no shirushi [Mark of Dog] RANK: D CHAKRA USAGE: Very Low CLASSIFICATION: Taijutsu ELEMENT: N/A DESCRIPTION: A basic technique that is similar to that of a slashing motion, the user is capable of extending their hand in the direction of an opponent. It involves the hand being clenched slightly to the point where it's fingers are bend to resemble a shape close to that of a claw. The clawing strike strength is capable of breaking the skin, and can also act as a defensive action in redirection of a physical strike by use of the extended forearm. -Items Used- -Familiar Used-

Much as might have been expected, Hitsukai's attack had not managed to actually land against Arashi, having been stopped short by a shield of sand. Still, the monk at least was able to take some consolation in the large dent he had managed to put into the sand shield before it began to repair itself. He had little time to enjoy his minuscule level of success however as Arashi immediately launched into a counter attack against him. It seemed she intended to stick to taijutsu for the time being and her incoming strike was surprisingly faster than the old genin had expected.

He sincerely doubted he could have dodged it even if he had tried and the fact that Hitsukai did not even so much as make an attempt may have even given the impression he had already given up if not for the slight smile on his face. The moment Arashi's hand connected with Hitsukai's body all the significant amount of force she had tried to strike him with was absorbed. With as much speed as he could managed, Hitsukai attempted to make use of the physical contact Arashi had initiated to grab hold of her arm with one of his hands while grabbing towards her waist with his other in an attempt to use the *Rocket technique; the idea being to hopefully use her striking at him to get past her shield and redirect her strike's energy into the motion of his toss.

If Arashi had used any of her other techniques, Hitsukai was entirely sure he would lose in moments. When it came to a battle of pure taijutsu however, he had a distinct advantage from Bishamon's gift that he hoped would be enough to help at least partially level the vast gap in their skill levels.

Arashi was not a Taijutsu specialist, so in truth such a move to get in close would likely have been seen as ill advised against someone who was. Though this was indeed something that did make things more challenging, it also held a bit of excitement to it as well. Especially when she realized just how quickly the monk was able to turn to the tables. She had given him an open invitation to make contact in her reaching for him, and as such, he was quick to mount an assault. Of course, Arashi wasn't without some tricks of her own. As he took hold of his hand to attempt to use her own momentum against her, the shinobi would use her own enhanced speed to counter. Considering the weight difference between them, along with their sizes, her motion would appear as if she were on a swing, using her lower limbs as she extended her legs out just as the flick came to connect against her. As a means to distance them both, the blow was meant to slam against Hitsukai's chest, knocking him back just as he did her. With her soaring through the air, the female would readjust her position, drawing her body backwards as she landed upon the ground, her feet sliding across the sand as a cloud of dust surrounded her. Reeling slightly from the blow, Arashi would feel the sting of his grip and watch as the sand began to move and cross the surface of her flesh to renew her sand armor. For just a second, Hitsukai believed he might have actually managed to get a good hold of Arashi which would have both literally and figuratively given him a firm grasp of the situation, unfortunately for the older genin he had not fully accounted for the disruption Arashi's sand armor would cause. While most people would be unable to escape a servant of Bishamon's grip once grabbed, the best he could figure after the fact was that the sand armor had acted as enough of a barrier where his grip strength just compressed or possibly ground off a bit of the sand and gave her enough room to slip through his fingers.

A similar issue arose when she pushed off of his chest. Normally the kinetic redirection would have leeched all the force from the kick and kept her from properly being able to kick away from him, but likely the sand armor compressing as she kicked away had given her just enough resistance to push away before his ability could absorb it properly.

While Hitsukai did not go reeling back from the kick as his god's blessing allowed him to redirect the force into the ground, Arashi did manage to jump some distance away. With there a clear gap between them Hitsukai's opening to go on the offensive was also now lost. He could close the distance again, but so long as she gave him no blatantly easy opening for him to make use of as she had before then it was in all honestly something of a hopeless fight.

Listening to Arashi's words, Hitsukai's right arm went up to the back of his head with his hand being run up it making his slight embarrassment at the compliment clear.

 "If you hadn't let me get close I don't believe I could have done so much. Bishamon's blessing is a great gift for close range combat like this; although our lord does make sure to keep us humble by not just protecting us from everything."

"Heh heh...I wouldn't sell yourself so short...but thats just me..." The truth was clear that he certainly was indeed modest of his skills. If Arashi didn't have such a strong defense, she'd likely be in trouble right now. Not only was he fast, but he was clearly using much of her momentum against her and reversing it against her with each strike. It was much like each impact was just bouncing back against her and it was proving to be more of an obstacle to overcome. If anything, it was something to be proud of. Though that didn't mean she was through just yet. With the sand she had placed down prior in effect, she had the advantage of being able to at least detect him, and move in a way that could keep his offensive at bay. But getting close would just prove to be as dangerous for her as it was for him. Shifting her weight to the side, she'd place herself within an combative stance, her expression still holding a smirk as she inched her foot forward, twisting into the dust as she raised her brow. "True...guess ya gonna need to ready for this next part..." Moment Music From there, the sand beneath the monk would begin to shake, revealing four tendrils made of hardened sand as the appeared on all sides. Much like a living cage, the objects would attempt to slam down upon him, lashing their weight against him as an attempt to crush him. Yet as this happened, Arashi was around on her next step, performing eight seals before her hand raised itself into the sky. The wind across the area would pick up speed, creating a wave of sand as it rushed through the area, creating the cover of a storm and a challenge to see. Yet in doing this, Arashi would seem to vanish within the sand storm herself, the area seeming to increase with it's collection of dust and wind, her body fading into it. Her form now dust, she'd begin to move with it, keeping in time as she watched to see what he would do in this situation. All-Covering Forests and Ten Thousand Things Assimilate Technique A technique that Arashi learned from Shukaku, it was grafted upon the creativity and consumption of a variety of different environments and adapting them to the needs of the user. When Arashi first learned of this, she used them simply as a means of allowing her to move with the usage of her sand, traveling among the currents of the wind from one place to the next. Though over time, she has adapted to them and made that very nature part of herself and learned to manipulate it to more than just the desert itself. With this growing understanding, comes her ability to use it to better suit her needs. Such as assimilation of Steel into her skin, or ash to the very minerals that build up the sand she controls to her will. This knowledge grants her the means to take these parts of her environment and impart them into her very being. While this is a short lived experience, they aid her in her ability to control the situation and to protect herself from threats that her Ultimate Sand Defense can not predict and allow for her to better protect herself. NAME: Suna Makihige [ Sand Tendril] RANK: C CHAKRA USAGE: Low CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu ELEMENT: Jiton DESCRIPTION: The user will create multiple thread-like constructs from sand and use them as if they were their own appendages, guiding them with chakra. These can be compressed to create powerful spears or simply as a way to trap or grab objects or persons within a range of 100 feet. NAME: Suna no sōzō: Sunaarashi[Sand Creation: Sand Storm] RANK: A CHAKRA USAGE: High I Medium Drain CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu ELEMENT: Fuuton HANDSEALS: 8 DESCRIPTION: Summoning a wave of sand, Arashi is capable of splintering it off into a haze like dust. Though in adding the element of fuuton, the dust is allowed spread out, becoming much like a screen. This acts as a cover for not only herself, but those that are within the epicenter of the event. Making it much more difficult for an opponent to attack or even see where their position is at a radius of two miles But the longer it is held upon the field, the more it drains Arashi of chakra. -Items Used- -Familiar Used-

Hitsukai gave a slight nod at Arashi's first statement telling him that he was selling himself short. The nod was just a polite means of not disagreeing with her, but the truth was he had been told by the monks over and over that Bishamon's blessing was not proof of their own strength, but instead proof of how much Bishamon regard for their lives and that as such it always should be used with humility on their part. While likely unintentional, this had given Hitsukai and a great many other monks difficulty in accepting compliments especially when it came to their combat capabilities.

As Arashi finished her second statement, the genin listening was honestly a little confused at first. Hitsukai had expected some explanation as to what he could have done better or maybe a suggestion of something entirely different to try. It seemed however that Arashi fell into the school of the best teacher was direct experience, the evidence of which was her immediately moving into a renewed attack!

Hitsukai, caught slightly unaware by the sudden return to combat attempted to move backwards and away from the spear like tendrils which approached from his front and both sides only to run straight into the one behind him. Thankfully as they were meant to pierce through their targets, their energy could be absorbed and redirected. Unfortunately however, just because he absorbed the kinetic force did not mean they were not solid objects. He struggled for a moment to try and get free, but at this point the shaped tips of the sand spears and wedged themselves into the gaps between the weighted plates underneath his robes in something of an upside-down t-pattern given his earlier step backwards had made more distance from one.

While the spears could not immediately hurt him, it did put him at a severe disadvantage by immobilizing him. While Hitsukai was not the most experienced fighter in the world by any means, he at least was competent enough to understand how bad a position he was currently in as well as understood now was not the time to worry about efficiency.

Immediately Hitsukai's hands grabbed hold of the spear that was pushing into him from the front, redirecting the energy the spears were actively placing on his body, the weighted plates pushing down on him and began to force it into the sand which started to compact, but did not immediately give. Shifting his hands to be on either side he started what was his greatest achievement with Bishamon's blessing, making use of the *Heavenly Feedback Loop. While it took a few moments, the multiplying power of the technique was likely to eventually break through the sand spear in front of him.

By that point the figurative damage was done, with a large sandstorm now kicked up around him and Arashi unseen in his eyes. He assumed she was simply at the edges of the sandstorm somewhere waiting to strike as soon as he escaped from the sand-tendrils. As soon as the spear in front of him was broken Hitsukai moved forward, the other tendrils tearing through his robes slightly as his movement forward dragged the fabric across the tendrils that still were actively trying to push inwards.

As soon as he managed to get out of the vice he had been in Hitsukai idled for a second, uncertain how to go on the attack when he could not even see where Arashi was. With few other tools in his arsenal, the monk did the only thing he could think of and violently clapped his hands together to use the *Burst of Wind technique in a somewhat desperate attempt to clear away the sandstorm long enough to get a line of sight on Arashi

Controlling the flow of the battlefield was no easy feat, it took more than just a chakra. It was being capable of sensing out the movements of your opponent and using the area against them. Match their strengths and find the weaknesses that came with them. Holding the monk down with such an offensive had been part of the play to figure it out, along with testing his limitations. Which, was indeed an asset that she hoped he would take with him in the exams. Still, she wasn't going to make it simple for him. Adaptation was key, and the exams were never short in surprises. With him having managed to break free, his next move appeared to be trying to clear the storm around him. A valiant effort, at least in a way to seek her out. Though the burst of wind helped in giving some clear vision, it was only due to the lack of maintenance that it would dissolve itself. The dust broke as it scattered into the air and across the area. The land itself was covered with it, each particle now giving a full picture of the field. Each move, each action, now capable of being predicted. As the field cleared, Arashi would begin to reform on the side of him, keeping her distance as she held her ground with a calm expression. "Nice...ya cleared the field....sorta..." The trap was set, and as she swiped her hand forward, the ground beneath the shinobi would begin to sink in on itself, starting slow, but rapidly starting to try and pull him in. The sink hole would start to grow, spreading out further and further and creating a gap between herself and him. It would be a challenge, but perhaps there would be a way to get through it to her. This knowledge grants her the means to take these parts of her environment and impart them into her very being. This sensing sand can be spread across a wide terrain of 100 feet, or even float in the air allowing aerial foes to be detected for an extended range of 150 feet due to it's lack of being stationary. Once the sand comes in contact with a person, it will wrap itself around them, rendering even invisible targets, visible. NAME: Sunao Maisou [Sand Burial RANK: C CHAKRA USAGE: Low CLASSIFICATION: Ninjutsu ELEMENT: Jiton DESCRIPTION: By manipulating sand and dust around them, the user attempts to pull opponents in a large amount of chakra infused sand, beneath them Immobilizing them. Great! I can see her, now I just need to close the distance!

Hitsukai was just about to take a step forward when suddenly he felt. . . heavy? Just as the realization hit him a burst of wind escaped from his mouth, bringing with it a smattering of blood that sprayed out onto the sand around him. While he had felt as light as a feather just a moment ago, suddenly now all the weight of the plates covering his body was pushing down on him and causing him to sink into the sand. Judging by the sensation of the weights and more importantly the violent expelling of air he had collected in his lungs which shredded his throat on the way out; it seemed Bishamon's gift had been suspended. Valiantly he tried to trudge forward, but every single time he tried to raise a foot to take a step forward his other foot sank a few more inches downwards.

In a mild panic, Hitsukai stripped off the top part of his robe revealing the steel plates that had rested below it. Quickly the monk's hands scrambled to undo the buckles that affixed the plates to his body. As they fell off he continued to try and take steps forward even going so far as to toss the plates ahead of him to try and use as stepping stones, but to no avail. Before he managed to reach even halfway across the spreading sand trap below him the monk had sunk up to his armpits and decided moving any more was futile.

Hitsukai was beaten; the mere fact he had managed to get this far was impressive even when considering Arashi holding back so much. It was quite likely that if Arashi had taken the fight seriously that Hitsukai would have been deep under the sand and gasping for air while choking on the blood that was even now coating his throat.

Arashi's first statement had Hitsukai go through quite the range of emotions in only a few seconds; embarrassment at having to strip his top off because he had no other options, indignation that she would suggest he use ninjutsu which was forbidden to his and most religions, gratitude that she was even after his moment of panic still trying to help him and finally guilt at the irritation he felt towards her suggestion when she was only trying to help.

He understood that she and the vast majority of warriors within Sunagakure made use of at least some amount of ninjutsu and chakra manipulation. The Monks of Bishamon had for generations now stuck to the belief that it was not their place to force others to abide by the laws set for worshipers of Bishamon and that so long as they might help enforce justice on behalf of both citizen and faithful alike that it was enough to warrant some understanding their way. So, for her to now suggest something so definitively against his beliefs was almost hurtful, although he highly doubted she had intentionally done so.

"If I need more than Lord Bishamon's gift, then I deserve to lose, as for ideas..."

His voice was hoarse and little more than a whisper. Such pain in itself was a valuable reminder to Hitsukai the dangers of using something that was not perfected. He had used a skill meant to aid in meditation and general training of redirecting force through ones body in a combat situation, controlled combat, but combat all the same and he had paid the price for his arrogant decision. After the brief pause he finally shrugged his shoulders and croaked out a few more words.

"Be less predictable and think ahead more?"

It was not the sudden moment of divine insight and understanding he had been hoping for, but it had at least given him some more confidence in his skills overall. While Arashi was still dramatically ahead of him in pretty much every facet compared to where they had been less than a decade beforehand; this training session had at least still proved that Hitsukai was definitely a threat for any other genin.
