… Huh. At first, Kumori rose a brow at Kobashi’s rather sudden facial change at his question. He was just wondering if the lad had gotten any new ideas throughout their travel to this place, knowing that Kobashi’s eye for detail was nothing to scoff at. What was so wrong with-

The infrared vision of his ENES would definitely be able to pick up the redness on his face, which he swiftly hid by turning away for an instance to relax again. Following that, the sourest taste rose up from his belly and almost burned his throat, but he held it in. The pain was immeasurable, but it wasn’t exterior, nor was it tangible.

… Am I actually going senile? At this hour?

A lot of thoughts, considerations, life-changing decisions ran through his mind, but ultimately, he had no time to filter through them all. The humming was physical, no Genjutsu involved, and Kumori had the idea that a person was utilizing the Underground Submarine Voyage to tail them all along. The humming sound passed right under them and exited the clearing towards the front of the village gates where a woman arrived, rather confident given by her body language. Her taunting paid tribute to that arrogant provocation, too.

But Kumori didn’t reveal himself from the clearing – Sora got his back and planned to move first, letting the elder shinobi gather his thoughts again after his slip-up. And he was supposed to be a Hunter-Nin… how utterly pathetic. O young foe of mine… I may actually let you kill me. But not these two.

Kobashi’s objective was to infiltrate the town, and the two others were going to cause a lot of trouble to the villagers in order to draw attention. But first, one of Kumori’s clones used the Transformation Technique on itself, this time transforming into a masked, ‘third’ Konoha-nin of lower height than Kumori’s present form-

-And then, with the clone resembling Kumori moving towards the clearing, and the clone resembling a random masked Konoha-nin in tow, the real Kumori stayed hidden under the woods, his ears open to try and track down another piece in the puzzle… for one reason or another, he had his doubts on whether the woman at the front gate was the Genjutsu user that had messed with them from the start.

The clone of his that resembled himself had already begun weaving handseals while moving out of the clearing, while the random Konoha-nin clone stood further behind Sora, covering her blind spots. Its purpose was to convince any who had successfully overheard his mortal mistake that 'three' enemies were right here in the open. The clone resembling Kumori made their best attempt at tracking the female enemy’s movements, moving around Sora's position and finishing the number of handseals required to ready up a Lightning Release: Shocking Dragon Bullet Technique that would leave their gullet and glide through the air towards their enemy. A loud, violent Jutsu, and a very taxing one for a clone of his, regardless of the massive reserves of chakra that the real Kumori had.

Shinobi are limited to transforming into objects roughly their own size, preventing them from turning into a fly while being able to carry items far greater than their transformed state.

By channeling Raiton chakra in their gullet the user will open their mouth and release a large, Dragon shaped projectile that is still connected to the user through a single bolt. Buzzing and crackling with electrical energy the dragon once fully formed reaches 20 feet in length. While active the user is able to manipulate the dragon in any way they wish, letting it twist and turn through the air to hit opponents. When the dragon asses a living being those next to it will find themselves shocked and paralyzed for a few seconds. Those actually hit full force by the projectile will find themselves blown away from the concussive blast as well as badly burned and paralyzed, the effects of the paralysis lasting for about five seconds.

[Sourei Kobashi]

Kobashi waited, forcing himself to slow his breathing while he waited for some signal that the distraction had began. He definitely did not love the idea of trying to sneak into the town and to a certain extent would have oddly felt safer being part of the distracting force. Still, his abilities did indeed make him the best suited for this part of the mission so there was nothing to do, but steel himself as best he could, hope for the best and prepare himself for the worst.

The moment that Sora let off her arc of electrically charged chakra in a blast Kobashi immediately began to move. While others might have beelined for the walls, Kobashi took the extra time to move through the treeline so as to make a lazy arc to the right side going away from the direction they had came from. The extra distance would definitely cost him a little time, but it was his hope that moving past where the distraction was taking place and making use of the *Chakra Suppression Technique that just maybe the enemies might assume their attacking force had been halted near the front gates or remained in the forest further back.

As soon as he managed to navigate around the fighting relying just on his natural speed, his ability to move silently, the fake uniform blending with the surrounding forest and his chakra being suppressed Kobashi would hopefully arrive without being intercepted. Were he to make it to the wall his plan from there would be simple, drop the Chakra Suppression Technique just long enough to lower his density and pass through the wall before blitzing through the city streets.

His goal from there was to head towards the center of the town and try to find any large warehouses or the like, places that might house large amounts of supplies that he could destroy and with their destruction hopefully provide further chaos to distract individuals from whatever building might serve as an administration building or town hall. After all their objectives here were many. Cause destruction, seize any intelligence, get suspicions cast upon Konoha and most of all don't let it lead back to Kiri.

I would know him in death At the end of the world Sora Minami Shouki Kumori Sourei Kobashi

Between Sora and the clone there was needless to say not to a lot to say. It was an almost immediate overkill. Particularly, the two combining their two Raitons made for an extremely explosive first attack upon the woman standing there. Alas she wasn't that easily killed, and there was a reason for the rank of the mission itself. However with Sora's close proximity to the enemy in the moment, there was more than a solid chance that she would take on some of the impact from the raiton dragon that was summoned, sucking up the clones chakra and as a result some of Kumori's as well.

But their enemy apparently was capable of very fast hand seals as she sunk into the ground in a flash disappearing from view immediately and re-appearing just behind Kumori, not directly behind but just enough distance where it would be awkward to both react and find her behind him. Four rapid hand seals later she was spitting out a fire ball at the old man's backside - well he was a teenager now, but she did not care one way or another. She was going to put him out of his misery now, oil and fire raining down upon Kumori if he was not quick to move.

Kobashi moved quickly and though a blip of his chakra signature appeared it seemed that whatever he was doing, was in fact working, as he snuck into the village without any resistance. The center of town was pretty obvious too, and there were warehouses here and there, scattered mostly sporadically but it became obvious where all the markets were when he reached them. The landscape of any town would change in accordance to this.

It was just up to him to decide what he was going to do now, with so many warehouses to choose from, left right and center...

The clone resembling Kumori still had the electric dragon’s tail connected to his maw, an ability bestowed upon the user of this Jutsu. While such a large, powerful Raiton Jutsu could be dangerous to use in close proximity to an ally, Kumori had the option to redirect the dragon’s slithering trajectory once its target fled underground – Sora’s Raiton Bukijutsu, itself, also held quite some range and even reached the front gate, so Kumori immediately redirected the Shocking Dragon Bullet towards the front gate in order to avoid harming Sora. It’d intend to slam into the nearest building and cause further destruction, which would aim to draw more attention to the two- no, three Konoha-nin outside.

Their enemy did make use of the Underground Voyage Jutsu again, and Kumori recognized the sound of moving rocks, dirt and debris underneath himself as the enemy reappeared behind him – this was the same sound that had followed their movements earlier, or at least just similar. If she thought that she could fool them with the same trick again and again, then… he’d let her believe that. Draw her into a false sense of security… but not now. He immediately performed one handseal once the sound of rumbling underground travel passed by him, and before her orb of fire could hit him, he disappeared almost as if by phasing out of existence.

In reality, he’d performed the Body Flicker Technique, moving up to a tree branch with a direct view down towards the earth-voyaging kunoichi. He'd hoped that her Katon Jutsu would cover a chunk of her field of vision in front of her, but if she could travel underground with such profession, then certainly she had ways of sensoring their positions. Perhaps a Sensory-type kunoichi, after all, but since she made no attempts at awaiting reinforcements and sought to kill them both herself, it was likely that Kobashi's infiltration went without their realization.

If his clone succeeded in redirecting the Shocking Dragon Bullet earlier, it’d dispose of itself with a single handseal, leaving only the clone resembling a random Konoha-nin near the front gate where Sora was.

DESCRIPTION:
By invigorating one's entire body with chakra, a shinobi can seemingly disappear and reappear in another location faster than most people can see. Often times one's movements are disguised with the use of an extra element, be it a smoke bomb, leaves, water, sand, etc. in order to hide the user's trajectory from those with skilled eyes. Though it mimics teleportation, it is important to remember this jutsu merely boosts the agility of its user. As useful as this technique is, it can only be used 4 times in a battle thread, compounding in exertion and difficulty each time. with any more usages beyond that result in muscle tears in the legs from overexertion. The hand seal for this technique must be held until the shinobi reaches their destination, making it impossible to utilize other techniques regardless of any preparation.

[Sora Minami]

Sora felt, physically felt, Kumori’s Denkouryūdan slide around her frame, twisting its original path to slam into front gate which, when combined with her Samidaregiri, served to further wreck the already broken structure, splintering the walls and setting fire to half a dozen houses as flaming bits of wood and charred stone where strewn about in a massive conflagration of electricity. And for all of that, for all the power she had put behind her strike… the Jounin knew it wasn’t over. Their foe had proven far too wily to be taken down so easily.

So when the noise settled, the black-haired Jounin wasn’t surprised to see no one standing in front of her, nor was she caught off guard when a blazing ball of fire exploded to life behind her, targeting where she knew Kumori had been. Instead, the woman simply turned to face her foe, Samidare flashing as she sheathed the weapon and formed three simple hand seals, taking an Iai stance as she stared the woman down, not moving.

Her left hand held the saya beneath the hilt of her blade, thumb pressed against the tsuba, ready to twist the sheathe and flick the blade forward in one smooth motion. Her right hand gripped the tsuka just below the menuki neither firm nor loose, each finger coiled in a perfect state of readiness. Her legs were bent slightly, body half-turned so that her right shoulder was facing the woman. Every muscle in her core and upper body was loose, ready to coil in and explode out in a single breath- and all the while, she poured Raiton chakra into and through Samidare, pressurizing it within the saya until…

Now. Only a few seconds had passed since the woman had cast her fireball, but that was all Sora needed to prepare her technique. Moving forward in a burst of Fuuton chakra enhanced speed, the Jounin drew her blade, Samidare a blur as she put every ounce of speed she could into the strike, enhancing her Iaijutsu with the compressed power of the Raiton chakra within. If the blow hit, it would definitely cut the woman in half. With her weapon’s sharpness, the inherent power of the jutsu, and its sheer speed, that was an almost immutable fact. The question wasn’t what it would do if it hit, though. The question was… what would Kumori do with the distraction she was providing him?

REQUIREMENTS: Chakra Conductive/Raiton Reactive
DESCRIPTION: A powerful technique capable of cutting through solid steel like paper, Shishi Sonson coats the users blade from tip to hilt in Raiton Chakra while the user holds it within the saya, building pressure within until the user draws the blade in a flash of extreme speed and power. The ensuing cut extends out quite a bit further from the tip of the blade than normal (up to 15 meters), and is supremely lethal if it connects anywhere vital, though its strength does wane the further out you get, with the leading tip making shallower cuts, while just a meter down it cuts a deep gouge into even sturdy materials.

The technique, like many Iaijutsu, is limited in its use, having to issue out from the side that the user draws their blade from, which makes it predictable. Additionally, the technique takes a brief moment to charge, thus essentially announcing to any informed combatant what the user is about to do, making it impractical for use as anything other than an opening move.
Special Abilities:
The Kunoichi That Goes On And On And On… [Endurance SA]
Perhaps part of her genetics or simply a random quirk of fate, Sora is unnaturally resilient, be it to physical pain or the toils of extended combat. While most Shinobi would collapse in exhaustion at having used all but the smallest sliver of their chakra reserves, she pushes on; while most Shinobi would wilt beneath the weight of sleepless night after sleepless night, she keeps going. This does not mean she does not feel pain/the strain of extended combat, but rather that her threshold for shutting down because of it is far higher than others. To give an example, if she were to be stabbed through her abdomen, she would still feel the pain of the injury, and it would hinder her ability to move/act, but it wouldn’t stop her, whereas a normal ninja might freeze up or shut down from the pain.

Bet You Didn’t See That Coming [Speed SA]
A byproduct of her enhanced endurance, Sora (despite what many would think) dislikes being injured- and with that dislike comes the intense desire to avoid getting hurt, a desire that has pushed her to hone her body until it could move faster than most others of her rank. In short, Sora is fast- very, very fast.

POWAH! UNLIMITED POWAH!! [Chakra Reserves SA]
After a lifetime of utilizing nearly every ounce of chakra in her body just to survive, Sora’s chakra reserves have expanded a considerable amount to compensate- while she’s no Jinchuuriki, her ability to toss out jutsu after jutsu and still have enough chakra to keep going is quite remarkable, a testament to just how much of the stuff she actually has.

I Am Not Left-Handed [Kenjutsu Mastery SA]
Sora is not merely a Kenjutsu specialist- she is a master when it comes to the art of the sword; after over two decades of training, her skills are unrivaled within Kirigakure, falling short only to the Seven Swordsman themselves… some of them, anyway. This mastery allows her a distinct advantage when fighting other Bukijutsu specialists of similar or lesser rank.

Beyond being a master of Kenjutsu, Sora has practiced for decades to become the faster swordswoman she can be. As such, her Kenjutsu techniques come out faster and move quicker than those performed by others of her rank.

Unbreakable
Whatever metal and forging process was used in the creation of Samidare, it worked; Samidare is utterly unbreakable by most any means, capable of being engulfed in an S-Rank Jutsu and remaining unscathed. Though it is possible that the blade could potentially be broken by a sufficiently powerful attack (such as, say, a Bijuu-dama), this has never been tested, so it is not known if it would survive.

Sharper Than Your Average Blade
Due to its nature as an unbreakable blade, Samidare bears a cutting edge that is of particular note, which allows it to slice through even steel with little in the way of resistance, so long as the proper force is applied. Additionally, this edge never needs to be resharpened, as it never grows dull or rolls, thus making it perfect for frontline combat.

Light as Spring Rain
Perhaps a quirk of its forging (or perhaps an intentional feature), Samidare is considerably lighter than a blade its size and length ought to be; while this would normally result in a less effective weapon, Samidare loses none of its integrity or cutting power, as it is somehow able to leverage the same amount of force through less mass. This lightness allows the user to swing the weapon about with much greater speed for the same amount of physical exertion.

Chakra Conduction
Being Chakra Conductive, Samidare is capable of channeling all types of Chakra for use in Bukijustu, and, more particularly, it has a slight affinity for Raiton chakra thanks to Sora’s constant use of the blade for that purpose. This affinity does not do anything of real note, but it does feel as if the blade were more eager to drink in Raiton Chakra than other types.

Once he was through the wall and had continued on in a mad dash towards the city center, the jounin was pleasantly surprised by the lack of any immediate interception team. It seemed that despite the moment he needed to phase through the wall that he had somehow remained undetected. While he was definitely grateful for the small blessing, Kobashi did not allow it to put him too much at ease; after all for all he knew there could be an entire team closing in on him this very second.

As he rushed forward and into the center of town he began to see some of what he had been looking for, warehouses of various sizes scattered here and there. Unfortunately there was no real way to be sure of what they housed with his only real aid in determination being the sizes of the doors on them. Ideally he would try to choose one with a relatively wide, but not particularly tall door; something that might imply a lot of volume going in and out, but of items that were not themselves particularly large. At the very least he hoped it would help in avoiding any warehouses holding large bulky items with the ideal prize being textiles, oil, lumber or even bricks whatever might help maximize the damage of the explosive rolls he was planning to place.

Assuming he had not met any resistance up until that point and managed to find a warehouse at least somewhat approaching the ideal he had in mind, Kobashi's next move would be to break into the place. While he could not mold any other chakra while using the Chakra Suppression Technique, he still had his own physicality from a lifetime of pursuing bukijutsu. Hopefully he would be able to force the door open with just that, but if it proved too secure and reinforced then he might be forced to drop the suppression in order to cut through with his sword enhanced by the Sabre Technique.

The moment he could manage his way into the warehouse, if he did not meet immediate resistance then his plan was to rip the tags holding replacement rolls for the Shibuki to release them. At that point it was as simple as piling them in the center of the warehouse, grabbing the end of one scroll and running out of the warehouse. Once outside he could ignite the end of the scroll that was being spooled out behind him and the chain reactions of multiple explosions would hopefully give him enough time to escape what was sure to be a massive explosion when it reached the main scrolls.

I would know him in death At the end of the world Sourei Kobashi Sora Minami Shouki Kumori

The double attack from Sora and Kumori caused the gate and structure to fully explode, and rumble. It was hardly holding itself up after all of that and the stone by which the gates were made of was definitely shaking from the impact and even after that impact and shockwave was gone, it still shook and still crumbled and continued to do so long after their attention was diverted from their attacks in question.

The woman was definitely highly irritated when the oil and fire raining down upon this part of the forest missed Kumori, it did show that there was some skill to the shinobi she was facing. But she hoped that her efforts would be enough and if not maybe her stupid partners could show up in the near future.

The clone near the gate would have to deal with the crumbling gate itself, dodging rocks and such and would likely be distracted.

For Sora, there would be no woman to stare down as she was hidden by the oil and flame that she herself had cast upon the forest. This area would now burn hot and plenty, making it impossible to use this part of the forest to hide for more or less anyone, including their opponent who was quick to move outwards and Sora moved forward attacking the area with the flames blindly - a distraction indeed as she would find that the electricity blew through the oil fuel fired but also heightened its state as electricity could easily create fire... Now there was more fire.

The woman exited the forest from the side where Kobashi had been last seen by the allied duo, she was sneering annoyance but having stepped out into the clearing once more she would utilize the brief moment as she came out to draw something swiftly upon the ground with her feet. It appeared as if she were preparing some kind of taijutsu stance with the way she moved - it was done in a flash...

It was something else though, but neither one of the two jounin were close enough to yet see what it was and yet the woman was not moving from the circle she had created.

As Kobashi rushed towards the center seemingly untouched by any opposition, he did eventually find several large warehouses. Not tall ones, but squat wide ones. The doors were made out of wood and were easy to lift up and down if necessary. It did have some reinforcement that made it difficult to break through without making any noise but eventually he would manage to do so with a good shoulder thrust through the wooden structure. Perhaps a little too easy, if Kobashi was alert he might think something was amiss or perhaps he was in too much of a rush to notice this.

Either way he would get in.

As Kobashi set up the explosives in a chain, he got just enough time to set it all off creating chaos and derision in the area unlike before. Now, he had to escape but the problem was that he was the only one currently not fully running for his life or screaming as some people started shouting and running for their lives or crying out for help.

"Heyo!" Someone called from some ways away, a voice unafraid above the explosives and unafraid of what was happening all around. If Kobashi looked he would see the very young boy from before, but he wasn't crying anymore. "What's all this for, mister?"

Oil… and fire… it covered such a broad area, but Kumori had avoided it just in time. However, knowing Sora’s speed, the elder shinobi didn’t react immediately after, instead staying on the branch he’d sought to while the familiar sound of air and thunder being cut in half traveling towards their location. The cloud of fire was cleanly swiped in half, resulting in even more fire manifesting – however, Kumori took this as a cue to move towards the clearing once more with a leap. I got to make a proper opening for Sora to strike her… but with her Underground Voyage Technique, our adversary’s not easy to distract.

The enemy had also exited the forest a bit earlier than him, once again revealing her faster reflexes – those on top of such a convenient Jutsu meant that she was difficult to catch. The clone of his resembling a random Konoha-nin was busy escaping the falling gate in these moments, but it also meant that it was further away from the forest than the rest were… including their enemy, who was stationed in the clearing with strange actions in play. The clone was attempting to exit the gate and reach her without causing too much noise, too…

Upon exiting the clearing, Kumori had a plan – it relied on his clone from behind their enemy, but it’d have to take time before it escaped the gate, and every second counted. The real Kumori would have to make sure that their Earth-and-Fire foe still had her attention aimed at the real him and Sora, glaring towards the forest and not towards her own gate… and up until now, she wasn’t moving away from her current position, and Kumori spotted the circle she’d drawn on the floor – when she drew that was a mystery to him, but more than enough to raise his guard. And yet, her not moving yet meant…

She was, for one reason or another, staying still in this moment. He had his eyes on her, but even their adversary could tell that he was wary of whatever she was planning to do. Kumori merely had to force her to stay still – it’d be risky, but if he could get his clone to reach her in time, then he could make sure that Sora’s third Iaijutsu would land.

Okay, old man – there’s not enough water present on the ground for Suirou no Jutsu… but Suiton: Kageōda can be performed merely with the water in the earth…

Finding a way to manifest water without the use of a Scroll, Kumori stayed at a distance and slammed his hand on the ground – while an obvious move, he attempted to convey to their enemy that she’d make a mistake trying to voyage underground again as a katana-shaped blade of water quickly extended upwards straight from the rocky ground beneath her feet, aiming for her chin. Kumori would repeat this Jutsu three more times to cut off the enemy's escape - capable of causing a blade to shove through the ground below even if she voyaged underground again - merely buying time for his clone on the other side to reach her, and for Sora to escape the forest too. He didn't intend to hit her at all - he was setting up Sora's successful strike.

Which required a Water Prison Technique.

And should he succeed in keeping the enemy occupied with avoiding blades, then his Clone's priority was to approach her from behind and cage her with the Water Prison Technique, signaling to Sora that the third time was the charm.

Shouki Clan Hijutsu - Dokuyoke Master
Kumori possesses his clan’s secret ability to store, produce and release deadly poisons from his own body thanks to the ritual of Dokuyoke. Said ritual has also granted its clan members an uncanny resistance to local poisons and toxins found all over the Land of Water - however, with the decades that Kumori has had to practice their craft, he’s become a master of the offensive Dokuyoke – both in the secret but simple Taijutsu that takes advantage of the release of poisons, and also in the regards of being able to mold and create forms from the poisons released. Only a master who’s had decades to train the clan’s Hijutsu is able to utilize the poisons with this much efficiency and creativity.

Medical Training
Kumori was taught practical, medical skills from a young age – this was to honor his clan’s past as medical experts before the ritual of Dokuyoke changed them forever. His in-depth understanding of human anatomy grants him the ability to treat his own wounds as well as the wounds of others with minimal effort despite the lack of Medical Jutsu in his arsenal. When it comes to surgeries, then he’s confident and very experienced in cutting open as well as patching up human bodies for various purposes. This has definitely flourished during the trials that he witnessed in his clan… and despite his distancing from them, their books and notes did grant him a deeper understanding of human and animal biomechanism. Kumori is able to use this knowledge in combat as well, capable of easily identifying weak spots on the foe's body where critical organs or blood vessels (arteries, capillaries etc.) are located, thus targeting them for the most optimal killing chance. Medical knowledge isn't solely for healing the body, in the end... not in the hands of a shinobi.

Enhanced Chakra Reserves
Old as he is, Kumori’s decades of training and fighting has made his body robust physically, but it has also increased the available pool of chakra that he can draw from. He possesses enormous chakra reserves - much more than the typical shinobi, and he can release Jutsu after Jutsu for much longer periods of time before tiring out. This especially aids him in performing high-ranked Jutsu that usually cause other shinobi casting them to stagger or lose focus due to the huge loss of chakra as a result. The enormous concentration of chakra can also cause visible outbursts from his body upon welding or releasing chakra.

Enhanced Strength
Kumori’s muscle mass contributes to his massive size – it allows him to not only depend on the deadliness of his poisons, but also overpower his opponents with brute force. Every swing of his weapon is like a ravine charging into the target, and the toughness of his musculature alone is able to absorb quite a bit of blunt damage. It’s unheard of to witness a poison user like the Shouki to be this physically fit, but Kumori is something else… he has enough strength to punch holes in the ground, break weaponry with ease and utterly destroy an opponent's body and turn their bones to flakes with simple, heavy punches. Landing on the ground from great heights can cause soft tremors to travel across the ground, and he often deliberately lets foes land hits on him just to flex.

Kumori seems to just know his way around any sort of weapon that he’s handed. Whether they be a sword, spear, bow, kunai, shuriken, kama, axe, club, staff, chain, knuckle-dusters, metal claws or even blowguns – of any shape and any size – when he wields and utilizes such any weapon, he does so with nigh unmatched skill. He may still have his preferences, but give him any weapon and he’ll kill with style.

Enhanced Hearing
As a result of his tracking missions back when he wanted to become a member of the Oinin Butai, Kumori developed a sharp and unnatural sense of hearing. He usually carries special Ear Protection plugs with him if enemies want to take advantage of this trait, but when freed of those, his ears can catch and distinguish sounds and their sources from long distances. He’s able to recognize usually muffled sounds with ease; the sound of a person’s heart beating slow or fast, the sound of insects crawling on the muddy ground, the sound of a hiding shinobi’s breathing etc.

Description:
Suirou no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu that utilizes water to imprison an opponent. The ninja forms the necessary hand seals which causes the water to form around the target into a spherical prison which only allows for limited movement. The ninja must keep their body touching the water prison to maintain its existence. If the contact is broken, the water falls away and their target is released. When combined with a bunshin technique, the ninja can imprison their target but still allow for a clone to attack others nearby.

[Sora Minami]

Sora felt, rather than saw, her attack miss, the enemy having escaped the range of her Iai by using the fire and smoke as a cover for her retreat. The black-haired Jounin frowned, but didn’t let the miss get to her; she had expected the woman to dodge something with such an obvious set up, after all. Sheathing Samidare in a flash, the woman moved, catching sight of her quarry just as she exited the forest, her sky-blue gaze narrowing as she came to a screeching halt ten or so meters before enemy Shinobi. She had formed some kind of circle in front of her- a seal maybe, or some kind of reactive barrier jutsu, though it was hard to tell what given the woman wasn’t facing her.

Well alright then. She thought, shifting back into the same stance as before, Kumori’s clone charging towards the woman as she pulsed chakra into her blade once again, building it up even as she formed the same hand seals as before, plus three more. This was going to take a serious bite out of her reserves, but if Kumori could keep the woman pinned down for just a few seconds, it would be enough to end it.

Pouring chakra into her saya, the Jounin tensed, every muscle in her body ready as she twisted the Raiton around itself, building pressure inside the sheath while tensing the lightning like a spring, fueling its destructive potential. Kumori summoned blades of water from the earth to attack the woman, his clone rushing in an attempt to imprison her with the Water Prison jutsu… and in that moment, with her chakra surging, Sora moved, stepping into the cut as she drew, Samidare a blurring streak of metal and lighting as she cut through the space the woman occupied, every ounce of speed she could muster poured into the attack. If it hit, even in a glancing blow, the woman wouldn’t just be hurt- she’d be dead. Very, very dead.

DESCRIPTION: A vastly improved version of Shishi Sonson, Shi-Shishi Sonson is, essentially, the same technique in form but not in function: the user still holds the blade within the saya while simultaneously building up Raiton Chakra along its length, but with an added twist: the user mixes a second stream of Chakra into the techinque, flowing it around the blade in a spiral that courses in the direction of the draw from hilt to tip, which then uncoils when the blade is fully drawn, massively increasing both the end products draw speed, cutting power, and range. Whereas Shishi Sonson had a maximum effective range of roughly 15m, Shi-Shishi Sonson double to 30m, and is full strength the entire length of the blade.

That being said, many of the same limitations apply to Shi-Shishi Sonson as the original: it still must issue out from the side that the user draws their blade from, and takes a full post to use (the user begins the technique at the beginning of the post and unleashes it at the end, doing nothing else), making it even more predictable, though if utilized in the right context, it can utterly destroy an enemy with even a glancing blow.

Perhaps part of her genetics or simply a random quirk of fate, Sora is unnaturally resilient, be it to physical pain or the toils of extended combat. While most Shinobi would collapse in exhaustion at having used all but the smallest sliver of their chakra reserves, she pushes on; while most Shinobi would wilt beneath the weight of sleepless night after sleepless night, she keeps going. This does not mean she does not feel pain/the strain of extended combat, but rather that her threshold for shutting down because of it is far higher than others. To give an example, if she were to be stabbed through her abdomen, she would still feel the pain of the injury, and it would hinder her ability to move/act, but it wouldn’t stop her, whereas a normal ninja might freeze up or shut down from the pain.

Kobashi turned to face the voice that spoke out amidst all the chaos which surrounded him, his eyes coming to a rest on the younger boy they had seen earlier who had been sniveling. As expected it appeared the earlier display had been merely a performance on the younger man's part. Immediately Kobashi dropped down into a slight crouch, his dirt covered right hand darted to the hilt of the ninjato at his side as if he was preparing to attack the young man.

Hoping this movement would put his opponent into a defensive mindset Kobashi's left hand slipped off of the sheath and to his belt where it primed a smoke bomb and dropped it behind himself. As soon as the smoke began to eminate Kobashi turned letting go of the sword hilt and rendered a handsela to make use of the *Body Flicker Technique. While the younger man might have expected Kobashi to be closing the distance to initiate an assault the truth was that Kobashi used it to move as far away as he could into the crowd. Once there he immediately began to use his significant running speed to move away while forcing the chakra in his system down as much as he could with the *Chakra Suppression Technique.

His plan was to dip into any alleyways he came across and to move in as erratic a route as he could manage while still making his way in the general sense towards the center of the city. While many shinobi would have felt the need to fight the boy, killing the shinobi defending this area was not his goal. Kobashi's goal now after having caused some amount of mayhem was to acquire what documents he could from the administration building of the city and such buildings were typically in the center of the town. So long as he could get those documents and escape without giving any inclination that it was Kirigakure behind this and he would succeed. The young crying shinobi was of no importance to him beyond an obstacle to move past.

The issue was dodging out of the way of the swords now, one that was coming towards her chin and otherwise... She couldn't get underground now it seemed either with the blades coming from underground it would compromise her ability, so she thought. The jutsu she prepared wouldn't work well here either. So she just had to dodge, left right and back to try and not get stabbed.

"Tch..."

What she did not expect was to suddenly feel water to encompass her. In fact, the woman had expected that these blades were summoned and the man fighting her had extremely poor aim or something. It had been a trap. She tried to break out of the prison but she couldn't and it wasn't easy to breathe in here either.

Ridiculous!

Her eyes widened as the woman from before came at her with the blade, powered with Raiton. She made one last ditch effort to get out of the prison before the blade struck into the water, which only amplified the shock causing her to fall limp - though the attack itself would likely dispatch the clone too which meant the two had a corpse on their hands.

Kobashi did the right thing, but it wouldn't stop the boy from following him.

"Hey mister! Come back! I got a bone to pick with you!" He started to follow him, even with the chakra suppression, even with the smoke bomb. He was coming in from the rooftops and was trying to get a visual on him.

Regardless of if he did Kobashi would come under the fire of something strange.

The way he was running would change, sending him in circles as if the world around him was being manipulated. If he was not careful and turned the wrong way he might even run straight into a very real wall.

Sora knew, almost from the moment Samidare began to move, that the woman didn’t have a chance. The speed of her cut, the water prison flaring up around her, the smoke and chaos of the battlefield… everything came together in a perfect storm of circumstance that ended with her death. Lightning flashed, the water prison evaporating as it channeled the raw energy of her jutsu, Kumori’s clones dissipating in a puff of smoke as her cut plowed through it, the burning forest behind it, the woman, and anything else that might get in its way until, like a thunderbolt, it vanished, leaving only destruction in its wake.

"Check the body. I’m going back in." She said, knowing the old Shouki had to be nearby, even if she couldn’t see where he was. With his experience, he would know what to do if the enemy was still breathing- not that they should be, given the sheer force of chakra behind her last technique, but still. Better to be cautious than careless, especially at this stage of the mission. There was at least one more enemy about, after all.

Sheathing Samidare with a breath, the black-haired Jounin turned back towards the gate, blasting off in a burst of Fuuton-enhanced speed, blurring away from the burning forest and towards the now ruined gate. Kobashi had, hopefully, made it inside the walls by now; wherever he was, however, the man would still need them to distract the remaining defenders, however many there were. And that meant moving in again, sword ready to be drawn at a moment's notice and, if need be, to be used for its deadly purpose.

… And then, she bit the dust. As soon as a shinobi’s plan worked, death was imminent. Kumori’s clone didn’t have much chakra returning to him, but it did its job well – Sora landed that final strike, and their enemy fell limp to the ground with a huge gush of blood, smoke and debris from such Raiton proficiency.

It was usually at this point where winners dropped their guards. Their enemy was dead, let’s move – and shit like that. Well, remember that they were delayed in their tracks by a Genjutsu user, and that even the imminent victory shown right in front of them could be a mere façade. However, the previous Genjutsu likely only altered their perception of terrain and not the actions of other people… besides, they would’ve been killed had all of this been one, big illusion.

So Kumori went to the corpse and remembered his Hunter-nin training – carve the throat and chest open, and rid of the corpse as quickly as possible. Experienced Hunter-nin in days past utilized the natural decomposers to make sure that no trace of a body would remain – crows, insects and other scavengers would do the dirty job for them, and nobody would know what had occurred here. However, they weren’t Hunter-nins from Kirigakure right now – they were Konohagakure shinobi and had a fraud to play out. Therefore, he did only one of the above – check for a pulse, and if none, pull up a kunai and make sure she could never breathe again.

With that dealt, Kumori knew he should ready up a rendezvous with the two others – Kobashi had entered the village prior to combat here, and Sora entered just now. And with the chaos they made at the gate, others were definitely on the way here. He decided to move out, circle the outside of the village for another, perhaps more-or-less guarded entrance.

[Sourei Kobashi]

As Kobashi rushed forward his priority had been speed and thus he was rather unprepared for the younger shinobi to keep up with him and even more unprepared to run into a wall where there had apparently been none. Blood immediately poured from his nose from the impact, but the pain was negligible overall. Still unable to trust his eyes and seemingly unable to escape from his pursuer with speed alone it became clear that Kobashi needed to remove the threat. Still, it was already clear between the most recent incident and their earlier encounter in the woods that his pursuer was likely skilled at illusions. There of course was the chance that he had applied some sort of barrier technique, but it was unlikely given the lack of time the young man would have had to prepare such a thing.

With his course decided Kobashi moved away from the wall and darted to one of the nearby buildings, he cared not if it was a home or a business his priority was to break line of sight for a follow up attack and he doubted if his opponent would have expected such a move. If he were in the boy's place he would have expected either another attempt to escape or a direct attack rather than this option which laid more in between the two. Assuming that Kobashi managed to successfully enter the building he immediately would drop another smokebomb from his pouch behind him at the doorway with his left hand and proceed further within smearing some of the blood from his face on the wall with his right hand.

His plan now was to throw down additional smokebombs in an attempt to fill as much space inside as he could with the obfuscating clouds. Given his chakra suppression earlier he doubted his enemy was tracking him with just sensory abilities; it was not impossible, but at least it was more likely to be some other skill such as scent like Toru or hearing like Kumori that was tracking him.

The acrid scent of smoke filling the air and smears of blood would hopefully mitigate the risk of the first while his training in silent killing would hopefully limit the second. Creeping through the building Kobashi rendered two sequences of handseals. The first was a big risk, but he needed to give himself some advantage and the one he needed to counter illusions required use of the *Hidden Mist Technique. It was definitely a risky tactic, but with the amount of smoke filling the area, the mist would hopefully not be noticed immediately and if everything played out well his opponent would not be capable of speech much longer. Once the mist formed Kobashi focused his senses to also make use of the *Mist Sensory Coating.

If all went well the younger man would pursue him out of fear of Kobashi making use of the building and smoke to escape. The moment he touched the mist Kobashi would be able to feel where his body was and launch an attack on his real body with a well placed use of the *Rising Tide Fang.

Sora would enter the town through the broken gate telling Kumori to take care of the body before disappearing beyond in a haze of boosted speed. She was not met with any objection in her entrance, in fact everything seemed strangely normal if a bit empty in the area since it seemed that all of the civilians were running for their lives, hiding or mostly escaped at this point. Sora would have to follow what little noise there was, but after a certain point she would find herself running into walls and taking turns that would circle her back to where she had once been...

Kumori would make certain that their first enemy was dead before circling the village and finding another gate to enter. It was not guarded and much like Sora he would find himself having to move towards the *sounds* of what was going on, though Kumori would have a much easier time... Unfortunately just like Sora he would find himself in a bit of a pickle at some point, going in circles, running into walls that were not previously there...

That said all of this would be happening in a twenty meter radius and if they managed to get OUT of that radius then things would be back to normal.

Kobashi was still being pursued by the talking youth, yada yada, something something, he had ten bones and they all needed to be picked. He babbled about something and nothing all at once, a prattling brat who wasn't even thinking it seemed when he entered the warehouse and was very suddenly killed, his body falling to the ground unceremoniously.

Was it too easy?

Perhaps...

Something was wrong because the second Kobashi would leave the warehouse he would find himself moving around in circles again all within that same radius.

All three jounin are facing a very annoying and persistent imposition of reality. Leaving the radius works to get rid of it... Their final enemy however MUST be somewhere in that radius and thus means they have to face it and figure things out.

DESCRIPTION:
The technique is triggered by the user holding a handseal and continually pushing out a field of chakra (much like a sensor might) in order to form a bubble of sorts. This in turn causes any who come into the area of the bubble (twenty meters) to come under the affect of the genjutsu. This illusion allows the user to change piece of the environment to their liking. Generally this might be making a doorway appear like a wall or causing a room to appear empty when their are occupants. [Is only effective once upon a target unless recast]
