At times, being a shinobi required that you had to get your hands dirty. A situation like that usually called for thinking outside of the box. Granted, she wasn't fond of the method, but she had managed to pick up a few tricks being undercover within the capital for months. Not that it was any easier when it was usually just a face that could make your identity in mere moments. Of course, within the right lighting, a heavily crowded area, and a lot of cover, you could appear as just about anyone off the road. Or in this case, the desert itself. Not to mention, if you showed more than just your face, you'd gain more attention to other aspects of your person. Seating herself across a table, the Outskirts were a good testing ground for this tactic. Plus, it never hurt to keep in practice. Not to mention, when it was around people that were more seedy than most. As a western game had now become part of the range of play, the faced down cards were dealt between three other players and soon the deck was placed in front of them at the table's center. With each individual holding their cards to themselves, Arashi would do the same as she eyed the gazes around her, listening in to other conversations as she allowed her attention to split from her position to everywhere else at once. Tapping her heel against the floor, her own traces of sand would spread out lightly, taking on the appearance of dust, yet seeming to feel out and give a vibrational effect that clued her into every movement. "Fold...." The footsteps presented images in her mind, giving her traces of chakra as she could sense their whereabouts. "Ain't got shit..." Not much so far, but at least it was a start, and maybe she might be able to clue in on something that was amiss...if there was anything at all. "Nothing...crap I'm gonna go broke!" Not that she was looking....well...partially she was, but only to test what she was trying to do here... "Hey! Ya in or what!?" Snapping back to the table, her crimson gaze would turn to the one calling to her, prompting her to close her eyes. Her legs crossing each other, tan flesh revealed as a distraction, the young woman would then lean back as she released a soft breath. "Whatcha rushin for? Half of ya ain't got nothin..." Clicking her tongue, she'd watch one player show their hand, revealing what was known as two pairs of similar cards. "Whatcha got? You in or out!?" Closing her eyes, her attention would move down toward her hand, yet her ears would pick up on a conversation close by. "I'm tellin ya...it ain't much...but its there! Auramite was a rare, but limited resource. The fact that someone might have found it within the mines could prove either as boon to the village, or someone access to the kingdom. In truth, it could have been either depending on the person and if they were generous. Arashi had her faith in people, but it was limited to just how bad they were off. Speaking of... In seeing her hand, the young woman would sigh as she laid her hand down, keeping it face down as a sign of her defeat. With what looked like part of her savings now being shoveled off into another's hands with the collected pot, her eyes would look to the side before continuing to listen in on the conversation close by. The rest seemed to be little more than idle banter, but it was enough that she was curious to see just where that trail might lead. With a slight shift, her hand would raise a bit of dust from beneath her palm, sending in the direction of the prized finder and causing it to stick to his leg. At the very least, she'd be able to track him later on. ------------ The night would seem to grow colder, and soon enough, the young woman would find herself less off than when she had come in. "Shit..." Narrowing her eyes, she'd finally find herself rising up from the table, her expression calm before then tossing her cards down. "Ya got me...I'm out..." "Shame...but thats the game...try again next time ya got somethin to weigh in..." Rolling her eyes, she'd find her way toward a counter, leaning against it before then noting her target was finally on the move. With a raised brow, she'd see him stumble out the door, prompting her to begin a slow, yet distant pace after them.

She could probably leave this to someone else...after all, it wasn't as if they were committing a major crime against the village. Hell, as far as she knew, they might very well sell the stuff back to the village for a hefty sum, leave it at that. It would make sense, considering the worth of any small despoit of the material. It's rarity could never be discounted. Granted, she knew how to convert it, but it was still worth a large amount to many that might want to try and replicate the process. Even if it were unsuccessful....which, had nearly come to pass a few times before. Which, would lead to disaster. Though as she followed the man from the distance, her hands resting in her pockets, she'd start to see less of a need to as his stumbling continued through the streets. Maybe he was just a rambling drunk? As he turned into the market district, her body would lean up against the wall, her eyes turning upward to the night sky, allowing him to attempt to check his attire and groan as he drew up his pants. Maybe this was just a mistake altogether. Even if he had found something, there was a good chance that it was nothing more than fool's gold. How many people really knew what Auramite looked like? All they saw was gold dust, and that could be shavings off any kind of rock. That in consideration, the light blonde female would prepared to turn back around, though stop as she saw two figures beginning to move passed her, determined to keep in pace with what looked to be the lucky miner. Watching them with a blank expression, she'd hold her position where she was, her expression shifting to a frown as the duo would seem to move right in the same direction as the man, their movements swift enough to show that they were indeed following him. Likely with the same interest as she had, but probably less likely to just watch and wait. This was the outskirts after all, and just about anything went here. Or at least, as long as no one was watching...

With barely a moment to collect himself, the prior bar fly was stumbling across the floor, his body pressing itself against the dust as he seemed to be trying to collect himself from being struck against the temple. He'd begin by cursing aloud, but soon realized he was no longer allowed as the market was soon a distant memory as he was dragged into an alley. "We heard ya talkin in there...Say ya gone and found Auramite...worth quite a lot these days ain't it?" As the stranger would speak toward his companion, their target would seem to rise back up to his feet, brushing the dust from his sleeves before then finding himself pushed up against the wall by the throat. "Ack! I ...I only saw a bit! But...yea yea...I've seen it! Or at least...think I've seen it..." His words would soon find a response as a fist collided against his head, knocking him down once more before feeling his body become weightless. "Oye! Don't be shy now...you was pretty sure before when talkin to your friend..." Struggling only slightly, the drunk would cough slightly, feeling his lungs straining for air under the man's grip. "Now now...it be in the mine...but where in it?" "I would hold off on givin that kinda info..." A voice would speak up as a young woman would seem to be standing across from them. Their appearance was enough of a surprise to catch them off-guard, but hardly do little more than cause them to look in the woman's direction. "Typically ya don't get to live long once ya do..." "What business is it of yours...stay out of it!" Leaning slightly on her hip, she'd release a breath as she looked upward. "Kinda wish I could..but I'm technically following a lead on somethin and now that ya ruined it...I have to step in..." Granted, she'd have stepped in anyway, but she wasn't exactly just passing by upon this. Still, maybe it was the ancestors' will...or she was simply just pulling at straws to find an excuse. Seeming to ignore her, the two would return their sights back on the now unlucky miner, seemingly preparing to continue, only to find something begin thrown directly into the man's shoulder. As a kunai balanced itself into the man's shoulder, prompting his grip to release, the miner would scramble to the ground, shuffling away as he began to rapidly make his way into the streets, running for his life. "See now...that wasn't a cue for ya to ignore me...that was me tellin ya to stop..." As the attacker held the hilt of the blade, his friend would quickly rush to his side, causing him to yell out as the weapon was pulled out. "Ugh! Ya just walked in on someone elses business bitch! That'll cost ya...ya hear!!" Screaming this out, it appeared that the alley wasn't exactly as empty as it seemed. More men seemed to come out from hiding, clearly lying in wait for the other two to finish. As the odds became six to one, Arashi would click her tongue before then allowing for a small smirk to cross her lips. "Send me the bill...after ya clear off..."

This was perhaps a waste of time, but considering that she had somehow managed to get a bit more than she had been looking for in her hunt, it was only appropriate that she finish what was started. Even if the information might have been nothing more than a loose end, she could also just have someone else watch the character later on. Still, now wasn't the time for planning too far ahead. After all, she could just as easily pick up the trail once she was done here. Seeing the six individuals in front of her now, it was obvious that they weren't going to just leave now. Especially after one of them just had a dagger thrown at them. At the very least, they would attempt to make an example of her before going after their target. Such was life in the Outskirts, something that was changing, but not fast enough. Transform ya "Grab this bitch so I cut out her fuckin tongue myself!" There was hardly any need for further words after that, with one of his friends rushing in to meet her head-on, Arashi darting inward briefly before raising her knee, allowing sand to coat its surface before slamming it directly into their chest. With the air knocked out of him, the next one to follow after he found the young female rolling across the kneeled position of their companion, clapping her hands together as she slammed her palm against his chest. Within seconds, a gust of Fuuton would surge out from its surface, sending him soaring backward into a wall. That was two down but still left four, each one seeming hesitant after the display they just watched. Yet as the voice of the bunched egged them on, one finally decided to answer the call as they drew out what looked to be a club, swinging in the female's direction. Dodging the first swipe, Arashi would then stand still as the second struck at its supposed mark, yet seemed incapable of breaking through an invisible field around her. The sand picking up around her, Arashi would prompt the field the rupture outward, sending small sand bullets outward to pelt against her target, knocking him over onto his side. Another one was down, and it looked to be as if the remaining three would try once more. But in seeing what they had, the young female would watch as they darted away, likely to find someplace to hide as their three fellows were left behind. Releasing a breath, she'd look around, resting a hand on her hip. From there, three shinobi would appear down beside her, looking over the scene and then back at her. "Don't ask....anyway...these three might have some information to share. I'd take them back to the Manor to ask about some of their dealings in the past...I have something I need to look into..." That said, Arashi would leave the masked shinobi to their work, proceeding back out into the market as she began to scan the area. While the Bar fly was out of sight, he wasn't out of reach....

All-Covering Forests and Ten Thousand Things Assimilate Technique

A technique that Arashi learned from Shukaku, it was grafted upon the creativity and consumption of a variety of different environments and adapting them to the needs of the user. When Arashi first learned of this, she used them simply as a means of allowing her to move with the usage of her sand, traveling among the currents of the wind from one place to the next. Though over time, she has adapted to them and made that very nature part of herself and learned to manipulate it to more than just the desert itself.

With this growing understanding, comes her ability to use it to better suit her needs. Such as assimilation of Steel into her skin, or ash to the very minerals that build up the sand she controls to her will. This knowledge grants her the means to take these parts of her environment and impart them into her very being. While this is a short lived experience, they aid her in her ability to control the situation and to protect herself from threats that her Ultimate Sand Defense can not predict and allow for her to better protect herself. DESCRIPTION:
After charging Fūton chakra into one's hands, the caster will clap their hands to initiate this technique. The clap causes the Fūton to compress and transform into a powerful gale. The gale itself has enough force to knock a human off of their feet; however, this technique's true power shows when used in correlation with shuriken, as it increases the wounding, piercing, and killing potential several times over.

Sitting atop a roof, the young Jounin would watch and wait. The chill of the night air would easily take out most from such an extended stay outdoors, but Arashi had more or less lost such sensations years ago. That wasn't to say that she couldn't feel such a difference in temperature, but training and an extra layer of skin had more than given her resistance to them. Genetics and a bit of the demonic could do that. According to most of the studies she'd read from the previous One Tails, many individuals in possession of a Tailed beast found alterations in not only the mental but the physical over long periods of time. Of course, didn't need a long list of scrolls to figure that one out. As she watched the small shack closely, her eyes would twitch along with her nose as she swiftly summoned a kunai from one of the seals on her palm, yet soon enough, that sensation of discomfort faded upon recognition of the smell. "Ya realize that the point of having a guard on me is sorta mute within the village right?" In hearing this, the figure would take a seat next to her, stroking his short greying beard before pulling out a book. With his good eye scanning the pages, the other would remain covered behind a black patch. "That display in the market proves otherwise..." Kuroki-sensei was one of the few people that was generally aware of the nature of the girl. It made sense, considering the length of time he'd been friends with her father and mother. He had watched the girl grow up and looked out for her in more ways than she probably knew. Such was the way of things when you were considered royalty. Still, the fact that he was still shadowing her at twenty-one meant that he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, despite his age starting to catch up to him. "Wise man once said if you go lookin for trouble, you find it one way or another..." "Technically I wasn't lookin...sorta...I was testing out my stealth and ability to blend in..." Funny how even as a Commander, she was still finding herself explaining her actions to those that she greatly respected. Even though she didn't have to. "So that was stealth?" "I didn't say it was perfect..." Shrugging her shoulders, the girl would rise up to her feet as she began to stretch her arms into the air. "It would have worked if I hadn't come across the guy who lives there...apparently, he's found Auramite in the mines..." "Not a crime..." "No...but a resource that could be used for anything..." Kuroki would set his book down on his lap, pulling out a cigarette and placing it between his teeth. "Then ya should be deligating an investigation...not pulling an all-night stakeout..." Rolling her eye, the young woman would cross her arms as she remained silent. He wasn't wrong. The truth was that Arashi wasn't just a shinobi anymore. She was the Commander of the Militia. She had the authority to use the resources of that position to send out people to do these things. Not to mention, her job was to ensure the safety of the village and to be able to send the right people out to do it. "You were lucky those punks were too stupid to realize who they were stepping up to..." "Speaking of...and totally not tryin to change the subject...what did your people find out about em?" Raising her brow, her expression took on a toothy grin, though soon seeing the hardened expression on the older man was enough to make her stop. "Nothing out of the ordinary...a lot of the local groups in the Outskirts have started to become more brazen of late. Something to do with being attacked by someone...we're looking into it...but nothing that would suggest their doing something more than being a nuisance..." As he reached further into his pocket to pull out a lighter, he'd light the end of the object in his mouth, inhaling the smoke and slowly exhaling it. "Okay...so they were a dead end....doesn't mean this guy isn't...sure...I have my doubts...but it's worth at least lookin into before I call in the troops..." Raising his brow, Kuroki would shake his head before then allowing a smile to cross his lips. "You're bored...." "What?" "You're bored...thats why you did this...."

"This was not outta boredom..." It was out of boredom... The truth was, while she did love the village and she did understand the need for her to be here and to be just as effective behind a desk than in the field, she had come to find that she got more out of the experience the more she went out. The fact was, in the end, she didn't so much like the aspect of writing reports all that much. In fact, it took up so much of her day, she barely had time to get to any of her own training or things she wished to do. "Don't get defensive...Boredom is a good thing....it means you're doing your job. No wars, no breaches, means that people are safe to live out their lives and we can continue to serve...in peace..." There was value in what the old shinobi was saying. The last thing anyone wanted was a conflict or world-ending threat. Not to mention, her not having to deal with sending words of comfort to people who's lives were lost because of it. Boredom was a good thing, but she felt as if she were being consumed by it. "Besides....your off duty until next week...why not do something that isn't related to this? Go on a date with your boyfriend, or pick up a hobby..." "Do you have a hobby?" "I knit..." A snort escaped her lips as she looked at Kuroki with a smirk on her face. "Seriously?" "Every chance I get...if I'm not working...I knit...or I read...which I was doing until I saw what YOU were doing..." Pointing toward the book in his lap, the Jounin would grin sheepishly before then releasing a breath as she sat down. "I would bug Asahi...but I don't wanna interrupt his training...he's working really hard at it...and I honestly have read nearly ever book I have twice over...hence why I went out to just...work on my art of the deception..." A grunt would come from the man as he then took another drag from the paper-wrapped stick in his mouth. Looking on at him, she'd raise her brow. "Ya know those things will kill ya right?" "Not before you do I'm sure...my point is...you do what you can during your time away from the job...it will provide balance..." "Ya sound like my dad..." "Where ya think I got it from?" Meanwhile, in the distance, a smaller version of it would begin to construct itself, appearing no larger than a pebble. As it scanned the area of the roof, it would return to the site of the house, looking on as the man seemed to be leaving at least, proving that perhaps her need to remain there wasn't exactly warranted after all. If nothing else, he looked disheveled, waving goodbye to his...mother? The Bar-fly seemed to have family living with him, seeing the older woman wave toward him as he prepared to make his way down the road, a pick in hand before hopping onto a wagon. A large wolf seemed to be bearing down on top of him, surrounded by four other dogs, yet what drew his attention was the approaching figure that was parting the crowd. As the remaining members of the group rushed outside, they'd see who was there and seem to instantly raise their hands. As the question remained airborne, a masked shinobi appeared beside Kuroki, disrupting the moment as he seemed to hold something in his hands. Dedicated to the Moonlight "Message sir...Jounin Hanchou...it's about the investigation into the target you requested...they were spotted headed toward the Mines north of here...and he was being followed..." "Report?" "You were taking too long..." "We're gonna have a long conversation..." Raising his brow, Kuroki would then place one hand on his hip as he looked over the scroll before tossing it in her direction, leading to the young woman catching it and looking it over. "Description of the tag-a-longs?" "Similar to the group that was brought in yesterday night...likely same party..." Looking toward the masked shinobi, Arashi would frown before placing the scroll back in the man's hand, closing her eyes as she began to walk out of the alley. "Where are you going?" Dakuri Iado was not expecting much from today. In fact, in leaving home, he had only one real goal on his mind and that was to reach the spot within the mountains he had found two nights ago without anyone hassling him. He barely remembered the encounter from the night before. His head was still foggy from the event, mixed with the hangover from way too much sake. Still, it had been enough to rattle him to act on his plan far faster than expected. Especially, if people had managed to hear him talk about it. Scratching his short beard, the young man would check his surroundings, seeing the others working in their sections, signaling that he was going to take a break as he disappeared down one of the tunnels. What was he thinking? Telling his friend about what he had found? Maybe to have a far easier time getting it out than by himself? Sure, splitting the find would hurt a bit, but not if it was worth more than the gold itself. The mountains were filled with more than just salt, if you knew were to look. Granted, much of the good stuff went to the village, but if he took a bit for himself, it didn't hurt anyone. Besides, no one would miss what they didn't know about. Plus, no one would believe him even if he did tell more people. Auramite was rarer than gold and worth twice as much. The village was hard on cash, sure. But this was the break he and his mother needed. Finally, he'd be able to get them out of the outskirts that his father had placed them in. Back to the way things used to be. His father died in this place, he had no intention of following such a fate. Skirting through and ensuring that he wasn't being followed, he'd stop short of a crossroads, a split between the paths before squeezing his way through one of them. It was narrow, dark, and hard to see, but that was the point. No one would come and check this way until it was opened further. Which was all the time he needed. No one would see what was down this way until they did, and that would take weeks. Not like there were many shinobi working here..and they were mostly there to guard the small settlement at the base of the mine. Falling through to the other side, he'd see it. A slight glimmer of Gold embedded into the rock face. His fortune and his new life were right in front of him. Seeing the pickaxe he had left behind, Dakuri grinned as he lifted the object with both hands, swinging it down against the stone before him, chipping away at the surface as more and more of the substance revealed itself. "This is it..gotta be quick...get as much as I can...then pack it away til the end of my shift. Then I'll report it to the others. The finder's fee alone will take care of rent and food...but with what I take home...we can move and live like royalty..." As more and more of the substance came into view, the shimmer of gold reflected upon him and he could only laugh lightly as he chipped away.

Dakuri spent the entirety of his break chipping away at the wall of gold, realizing his dreams before his eyes and the image of wealth clear in his mind. He need only take enough to put into his pack and leave the rest to be found by the others. Of course, with his claim to it of course. The village wouldn't miss a few bits of gold, and there was more than enough in this space to provide for it. He did his part, and he managed to get something for himself so that he could get out of this place. He and his mother would have what they had lost, and the rest would have what they wanted from the score. Plus, no one got hurt. As he prepared to make his way out of the cavern, he'd hear noises echoing through, clearly yells of some kind. It was likely the boss looking for him. Shoving what he could into his pack, he'd release a breath before squeezing his way back out into the tunnels. Dakuri expected to get an earful, but he'd deal with it for a few hours before showing them what he had found. After that, any chance of him being in trouble would be washed away by his gold discovery. As he emerged back to his section, he'd realize the emptiness of it. No one in sight.... Had there been a cave-in? Maybe someone had found something and it was enough to make everyone have to leave. "Shit..." Gritting his teeth, the young man would quickly rush toward the entrance, hoping he wasn't the last one out. Yet as he drew closer, the yells grew louder and less familiar. Slowing his pace, he'd stop short of the opening as he leaned out and saw the miners kneeled down, and surrounded. Pressing his back against the wall, he'd look at the men seeming to hold his coworkers, hostage, noting their numbers were at least in the dozens. "Raiders..." That had to be it...or...no way... "The punks that jacked me up last night...how did they..." This was hardly the time for questions as he soon felt someone grab hold of him from behind, pushing him out into the open as he tripped onto his face. Coughing as sand entered his nostrils, a large man loomed over him, yanking him by the collar of his shirt and pulling Dakuri to his feet. "This the guy?" With stares aimed at him, one of them would nod as he held a smirk on his face. "Jojo's gonna love this...this is the golden boy..." His co-workers would look at him as well, holding confusion as they shoved him forward. "Right then....now... where the stuff?" Scrambling Dakuri would blink as he shook his head in a panic. "Look! I don't..." "DONT...BULLSHIT US!"
