Konsho walked slowly across the lands of Yuki no Kuni, wrapped in heavy layers of clothing as he seemed to constantly be draining chakra to both keep his feet attached to the ice and stop them from freezing to it. One would think moving from one humid environment to another would be easier than moving from an arid one to a place of high humidity. Konsho had experienced first hand the whiplash of moving from a dense humid forest to the arid heat of Iwagakure. When his family uprooted themselves to start a new life in Takigakure it was almost relaxing to return to the wet heat he had grown up in during his time with the apes. Yet it seemed all humidity did was add to the natural feelings of an area- meaning moving from a warm rain forest to a frozen snow coated land was all the more extreme in change. Because of this one assumption- even with prior research- Konsho had failed to supply protective gear of a comfortable level. His research did give him just enough to properly protect himself, but having failed to factor in that he had little exposure to the frigid temperatures of such areas meant the blue haired shinobi was still feeling the all-too-occasional shiver move across his body.

If one had never met Konsho, the young adult would appear to be some heavy robed hunter; a thick white cloak with a furred hood covering a majority of his body, a thin line the only hint that it could open from the inside. Obscuring his face, a combination of a ribbed white mask and blue visor gave the illusion of the secretly red eyed shinobi's head was fused with the hood of the cloak. At least you're not making the trek alone. The Takigakurian Shinobi noted to a small amount of comfort. "Any estimates for how long until we reach the village?" Konsho had been trying his best to not ask this question, but at this point the cold was feeling a bit more notable than it had earlier. The young man wasn't sure if this was just an effect of constant exposure- or if it was actually getting closer. Just reading books did not suddenly make one an expert on an environment, and he would not dare to claim he had knowledge of the way this land behaved.

T'was sometimes hard to remember Raimaa was even there. A lack of any sound, the drift of the snow, and a hood covering the only aspect of her being that really stood out, she was certainly living up to the other part of her title. Though, her lil Genin would ask her a question - the question - and so she would crack a smile. Whatever reason he had given her for being here, he was not the first youngling she'd picked up.

The cute little sand girl had invaded a few years ago to revenge herself the humiliation she suffered trying to capture Raimaa in the hotsprings. And there had been another who was wildly professing being a Nuke and having run away from her evil village, only to return in a few days after the stress had died down. So she'd play along with this guy, be him true or false.

"I dunno. You are the one who didn't want to take the train. And I've never walked from the port to the city before. So we might be a week away. We might be two hours away"

That certainly sounded like Konsho's luck when it came to these choices. It was amazing how much time one could spend studying, yet mere minutes after arriving make a foolish mistake. This would not bode well for any diplomatic ties he was seeking to make. No matter how this occurred, Konsho would be seen as either stubborn or foolish. There was no way to spin this where it reflected well on his upbringing or village. Hopefully, he could write it off as a young man making a moronic choice and be forgiven for his ignorance. Regardless, he had essentially forced both him and his escort into a long perilous trek into the land. On the bright side; her was certainly going to learn about the land whether he wanted to or not. Besides, perhaps he could try training in intense cold.

As the reality of their situation began to set in, Konsho would turn slightly towards his current traveling companion. "Any suggestions as to what we should do? I assume we're a bit too far to just turn around, and I doubt we'll be alone out here for the entirety of our journey." A small part of Konsho was certain he was about to hear something along the lines of 'probably should have used the train.'

Almost turned into a statue before getting rescued by Kuroneko, and Saya then had one of the guards give me their thermals and get a new set from the armoury. Was awkward and hilarious in equal measure"

Konsho could feel quite the annoying conundrum playing around in his head. On one hand, to go back would mean that quite literally each step this far would have been a waste. The idea that the currently heavily cloaked Shinobi had wasted several minutes- maybe even an hour at this point, just to turn around sounded so utterly wasteful. His brain managed it's own equally logical counter point; questioning why that mattered to him so much? At what point did he fall prey to the sunken cost fallacy? He had seen countless shinobi break their skulls against metaphorical brick walls and criticized them for it, so why was he falling for that exact trap now?

Konsho may be lacking in practical information, or any political and social sense, but he was not dumb. He could see when a decision was ill advised, and when it was best to use one's brain over one's gut. Staring off silently for a brief moment, Konsho would turn around at his guide's suggestion. "Fair enough. Let's go." As they walked, the young man's brain would begin to catch up with what the tall woman had said. "Lady of Kusagakure? I'm sorry I'm not very familiar with that village. Are they also allies with Yukigakure?"

Her response was a rather vocal one, surprising Konsho in her strange mirth at the young shinobi not knowing the place she supposedly ruled. Her further statements were even more perplexing, and Konsho was certain that if his face was visible she'd notice the furrowed confused brow. Chances are she was either lying to him initially, or there was some sort of grudge hidden in her past. As tempting as further investigation was, Konsho knew it was not his business, and would let the subject fall.

The phrasing of herself as a 'taxi' was more confusing to Konsho, although also a mite amusing. "I'm quite fine walking the rest of the way to the port. If anything given my current predicament I should be the one offering to carry you." For Konsho the offer was less a chivalrous proposal and more so that the young man knew he needed to continue training even whilst on diplomatic missions. The regime he had the fortune to learn of required such dedication from it's practitioners. It began to dawn on Konsho that carrying any extra weight would actually serve as quite the lesson in proper control of his body- a skill he would require if the crimson eyed shinobi ever desired to move beyond the first step. Perhaps this joke could turn into a stroke of genius.

"Ohh?" Raimaa would comment, with a smirk. He didn't seem to be lewd or sultry in any way, so his comments to carry her were probably just machoism. But, that was fun. Raimaa was a lot heavier than she looked, what with all the shinobi tools she carried, the prosthetic, and the muscles that she had honed throughout her body. Plus, snow-shoes weren't capable of handling that level of weight and would sink him.

"Well, if you think yourself capable of such a feat, I shall not stand in the way" Raimaa would reply, stepping over to let him carry her.

Konsho was stronger than he looked, given that his sole skill lied in taijutsu such strength wasn't really a surprise to him. Between running several hundred in a suit of heavy armor and constantly competing with himself in order to force improvement, the young man had grown to be quite strong even for a genin. The matter of attempting to lift someone with one arm was it's own challenge, but the young man was certain he could achieve it if he uses his back or legs instead. A small amount of pressure would be exerted, moving the crimson eyed man's cloak to the side so that his arm could easily remain at the ready to hold the built woman. The young man would also begin bend his legs and while keeping his back as straight as possible, in order to lift with her weight as evenly distributed as possible.

As the weight on the blue haired man's back, the takigakure shinobi would slowly begin to move as he began to trace their way back the direction the duo had departed from. Konsho had intended this proposal as an extra bit of training, and it certainly was working. Raimaa was indeed heavier than she seemed, and Konsho was easily able to tell it was due to skill and equipment. It took a few of his steps to measure his bodily spread of weight versus her own, and then adjust for it before he returned to normal speed. At least, as normal was one could bee when they repeatedly sank into the snow bank. Still, Konsho didn't regret the offer, as even lifting these piles of snow added extra challenges to his exercise. This was going to be interesting.

Being a few inches taller than him, and weighing over two hundred pounds with all her accessories, she was quite the bitch to pick up, let alone carry over difficult terrain like this for an extended period of time. So she would put her arms on his head - fleshy one on the bottom as not to hurt - and lean on them.

"Though make sure not to push yourself. Medical ninjutsu can only go so far, and every day you spend in a bed is a day you lose training. A good regime over a week is better than a wild burst in one day and the rest of the week recovering"

Praise, at least verbally, was a rare experience for Konsho, one that inspired him to do even better than he already was. So his pace would increase ever so slightly, enough to shave a few minutes off of their trip if maintained. The young man was aware that in his home, this increase would likely lead to overheating before the exercise was completed- which would in turn defeat the entire purpose. With his current location however, Konsho was certain the extra heat generated by his movement would be beneficial.

His mind would be temporarily pulled from his calculations as his escort turned training weight had placed her hands on the top of his hood. She was a strange one, yet there was a certain casualness to it that invited the young man to lower his guard; a luxury he rarely got to indulge in when living in Takigakure. It was certainly a welcome change of pace, in fact Konsho was at this point fairly certain he was most comfortable with people who didn't follow the made up laws humans often enforced on each other. This brief introspection would be pulled back to reality by the Yuki shinobi's advice, which cause a small amount of conflict in the blue haired shinobi. On one hand, he was more than aware that Goro insisted the Eight Gates Training Regime was one that through it's nature demanded a great deal of pain in learning to utilize it. Even with the young man's brief brush with the first gate, he had felt a great deal of exhaustion. On the other, his escort's argument was logical and practical. It would be idiotic to simply dismiss it. "I'll take that advice into consideration and compare the results to my previous method by the end of the week."

"Hmm. I've seen people push too hard and lose the chance to be a Shinobi. To be fair, my clan's Hijutsu is dangerous as fuck even for us, but still. It took me about a year and a half to get back to where I felt remotely comfortable in my own body after I had my brush with dead. And I don't think I've ever truly gotten back to where I should be given my age"

"I'll be sure to inform you if this becomes too much." The ape raised man would continue their shared journey to the port town he had first arrived in. Usually, Konsho would remain exclusively focused on the task at hand, as doing so increased efficiency. The young man also had been trying with great struggle to avoid his inherent curiosity with the world around him, fearing that being too internally obsessed would lead to stagnation yet again.

But the idea of a clan hijutsu that was actively detrimental to their practitioners was so strange it demanded investigation. That- and there was not much to occupy himself with on the return trip. "You said your clan's hijutsu is detrimental to its members. I'm curious as to how this could be possible. From my understanding even the most dangerous of hijutsu gradually caused their practitioners to adapt to it over the generations. What did yours do that prevented such changes?" That was to say nothing of Kekkei Genkai- which could create such drastic changes in biology that some were able to craft entire fighting styles that worked without their Bloodline Limit- and was then enhanced with by it's inclusion. He had heard stories of Hyuuga using their strange brief touch based style without activating their byakugan- although it was less damaging than when they had it active. On the other hand, the visual change from an active and inactive byakugan was supposedly exceedingly subtle. Konsho had no real hands on experience, so perhaps it was merely hearsay. Still that didn't mean this Futago clan- or at least what he assumed was the Futago clan from his escorts name- was any less strange if it was untrue.

"Heh. The fact that it doesn't kill us stone dead, is the adaptation over the generations. That's mostly why it's a Hijutsu rather than just Kusagakure's general trick. We tried spreading it around after the Second Shinobi War, and realized that it was a dangerous thing for anyone that wasn't us.

If you have ever swung a sword too hard and pulled a muscle, or been running and stepped wrong, twisting your ankle in the process, then you'll be in the same boat as us. The Hijutsu requires precise use and care to not overload us and cause any damage. Most of us don't care about that and go hard, but at least one person a generation ends his career doing that"

Konsho's pace remained steady and measured as they grew closer and closer to the village they had initially departed from, listening to the explanation of this strange Hijutsu of theirs. It seemed remarkably similar to the adult genin's interactions with the Eight Gates, although where the Eight Gates damaged one merely by utilizing them, this one seemed to be a matter of mismanagement and abuse. "The fact that such an ability has managed to require such control speaks well to it's power." Still, there was the fact that she had been the Lady of Kusagakure. Yet she was firmly here within Yukigakure, able to be assigned as an escort to the village, and if Yukigakure was anything like Takigakure trust of an outsider. Although perhaps that wasn't the case in this land. It was not a guarantee that just because the two shinobi villages he had personal experience with were totalitarian military run nations did not mean all the various hidden villages did the same, nor did it mean that Yukigakure possessed the amorality of Taki or zealotry of Iwa.
