As the stone receded and Yamatsu gained control over his body and chakra once more, Oki and Ino crowded anxiously around him, licking at his hands and legs as if to reassure themselves that the boy still lived, was hale and whole. Don’yokuna huffed, a heavy breath of moist air that blew over Yamatsu’s face and hair like a warm, humid breeze. The stone dropped from his maw with a heavy thunk; where it had been pale and luminescent before, it was now radiating with power, though that brilliant light was beginning to fade as the nature chakra it had siphoned was cycled back out into the world beyond. "It is promising,” Don’yokuna allowed, "that you are able to so intuitively cycle Nature chakra within yourself. It speaks to your potential—but also to potential danger. You are fortunate that we were here, where the tools of your rescue are close at hand. You will not be so fortunate in the future. Come.” He turned and led the way deeper into the cavern—though darkness grew, so too did the warm, shallow light of bioluminescence, giving the den a serene glow as they delved deeper into the mountain. Before long, stone statues of wolves were visible along the cavern walls—some stoic and accepting, others in various states of distress and fear. "These,” he said, "are my apprentices who were not so fortunate. Commit their image to memory, and understand the totality of the risk you shoulder as you walk on this path. Then you must rest. We have done enough today.”

The Young Pup

Yamatsu follwed the Wolf King, Oki and Ino by his side. They made their way further into the cave before he started to see strange rock formations. They almost looked like wolves, no they were wolves. The great wolf explained that these were his past apprentices. He was instructed to remember, to remember the looks of peace and anguish the statues showed. He had almost joined the ranks of these poor souls just moments ago. The young man followed contemplating how he had reached out to the nature chakra without even meaning to. It was late now, Yamatsu could not sleep laying there on his back staring at the ceiling of the cave. The road ahead of him seemed tough maybe even impossible making him wonder if he was the right choice. A huff to his right caught his attention, Oki who had been laying by his side was staring at him. He did not need to speak Yamatsu knew what he was thinking. The road ahead would be tough but he would not be alone. He reached out running his fingers through the wolfs fur. Oki rested his head back upon the ground as Yamatsu closed his eyes a smile on his face.
