The little girl's room turns out to be the very hotel they'd been surveying. Ume is quiet, standing alongside her comrade as he asks for a room and pays for it in double full. Idly, the chuunin wondered where exactly all those funds were coming from, but it's not like she would ask. Instead, she expresses gratitude for the upgrade, though laments the wasted chunk of her own funds she'd used on their dingy inn.

"Leave it to me," Ume had said confidently, but she did indeed make a few trips back and forth between the two inns only once to transfer their things. Ume travelled light as it was.

The surveillance continues in such close proximity that it's almost impossible to miss out on details. Ume takes the first night to watch, taking too the balcony of a mirroring building in the dead of night. She can't tell if the room within is a home or something related to civilian work - but she goes unbothered; as does their target.

The days blend into one another and though they detail every step their art thief takes, there is very little to learn, very little to leave him suspect aside from their very first day with him. Ume finds it almost too clean, and wonders how much of this business actually involves him. In one of the brief moments they have alone together in the night, a crow's eye on the sleeping target, Ume hypothesizes with Risi. "Just a peddler," she'd called their target. "Obviously at the lowest wrung of all this. An acolyte of something bigger then...?"

The week's end was over the horizon, and Ume was certain something was amiss. Her mind continuously wandered back to the man in all black. She ruminates it over the course of their mission.

Risi ends up mostly bored for almost the entire week, although he had been trained to stake out targets in such a way without letting the boredom of the job get to him. It didn't stop him from letting out the occasional sigh whenever they switched their watch duties between one another. It was often quiet, and he was apparently laying low, with only an occasional excursion here and there outside of the hotel, but always acting more like a tourist than as if he was there for some kind of meeting. Ironically, this only made the first visit of the man in black even more suspicious to Risi. At the very least, Ume made the surveillance job much more bearable, although he had no real interest in her beyond as a coworker. The crow eye technique at least lets them discuss their options for the mission and what they can expect.

"Definitely the lowest rung. He's way too spineless for this line of work anyway. Maybe he's being strong-armed into it? Probably not even a willing participant at all."

Willing or not, that would be decided by people with far higher ranks than they held. It was entirely up to them what happened to this lowlife and whoever he's meeting with. It was now the final day of their observation, and they had little to write about other than the first day, and he's starting to wonder if that first meeting had been the only real meeting he would have had with whoever was in charge of this art dealer when he sees that same man in a black suit arriving in the penthouse suite, walking in as if he owns the place. It had already been a bit odd, with the art dealer packing up his suitcase a bit earlier than he needed to, since the hotel would let him stay until 2pm, quite generous really. He's not really able to read lips even with the crow's better vision, but he's at least capable of reading their facial expressions, and he taps at Ume's upper arm to wake her up and get her attention, not aware that she was actually already awake and just thinking to herself.

"Company, comp-an-yy..."

He watches as the man removes his jacket and then slowly rolls up the sleeve on his right, then his left arm to expose that both wrists and forearms are covered in tattoos, a rare sight even in Kumogakure, but it's clear that the tattoos continue even above his elbow, likely going all the way up his arms.

"Yakuza..."

The word is almost whispered, said in a surprised gasp as the gang member lets the door close behind him before he starts intimidating the art dealer. The meeting is short, though, because they both turn towards the door. Since Risi can't actually hear through the crow, he also can't hear what's going on at the door, but he can see that the henchman is unrolling both sleeves, and looks disappointed, but then he puts the jacket back on and opens the door. Risi can see that it's the housekeeping, ready to clean the room in preparation for the art dealer to leave. The yakuza stalks out the door, leaving the fat balding man to collect his suitcases before taking a moment to look busy before running out, apparently still trying to put on a show that the yakuza and he are not affiliated. He deactivates the crow surveillance technique that had been so useful during their mission, turning towards Ume with a naughty kind of smile.

"Alright, Ume, I think we've got plenty of info. Let's write it up and turn it in..."
