It was just a little something he'd had built: admittedly, a bit of an indulgence. The workers'd built it in nearly no time at all, a simple wooden rectangle outcropping from the side of the Kage's residence. Roofless, it was just three simple walls and a pitted dirt-sand floor.

Kiyoshi'd paid for it personally, and when it was done he'd used Haton to create a large domed glass ceiling and some glass doors. He'd had some workbenches set up along the walls, comfortable furniture added, and of course - had it converted into a greenhouse. A number of arid plants grew in the middle, their branches and leaves overhanging the pathways that ran around the outside.

He'd never been much of a gardener, but Kiyoshi did have an appreciation for beauty. A number of foreign seeds he'd collected on his voyage had been planted here, and bloomed into a variety of stunning exotic flowers.

It was evening now, the sun teetering over the horizon. The greenhouse-study was dimly lit with a few braziers, the air misty and calm. Kiyoshi sat in a low couch in a corner, across from a duplicate with a low foreign coffee table in the middle.

He'd called for Oonakayama Arashi to join him for a meeting - the one-tail Jinchūriki and his 'new' Jounin Hancho. He'd instructed the messenger to give her directions to the new construction, but he assumed she wouldn't find it hard to find given the situation - she had lived here for quite a while.

"I get ya doin ya job but...seriously?"

As she spoke to the messenger with a raised brow, Arashi would watch him bow and leave before rolling her eyes with a calm expression. Outside of the Kage Tower, she had just been given the request to meet with the Kazekage at the Kage Manor. More than that, the messenger was asked to give her directions as well.

Considerin I lived there most my life...pretty sure I know where it is...

In truth, there hadn't been much time to really take stock of the situation since she'd returned from her trip with Asahi. In fact, aside from her family having to move, nothing had really been established in terms of just what she was to expect. Honestly, first impressions were everything. Not that it mattered as Arashi was almost determined not to like the man regardless...

He was a former shinobi, having been retired and dragged back upon getting an offer to lead Sunagakure. His bloodline was linked to past kages, and he was clearly living off his own financials and that of his Clan's legacy.

He was a royal from the capital...what wasn't to dislike?

As she made her way down the familiar streets of the village, Arashi began questioning just what was preventing her from quitting right there and then?

Pride....duty...the fact that there was a major leadership change? Her father had it easy, he just moved to a position in the War Council, she had to actually work with the guy.

Still...maybe she was overthinking it...

As she looked down towards Nai, the wolf would bark before feeling her companions hand brush against her fur, soon seeing the manor in her approach. Oddly, having to be escorted to Kiyoshi was different, but then what wasn't now, allowing herself to release a breath before following the guard as Nai remained behind out of courtesy.

That was when she saw it...the glass like structure within the yard...right where her dogs kennel used to be. That was enough to make her want to go off, but she was doing her best to remain impartial to the destruction of her childhood memories.

While the look on her face displayed some shock at this, she'd quickly cover it as she coughed into her hand.

In seeing the Kage seated, Arashi would then stand there with a serious expression, looking at him before then bowing politely.

"You wished to see me Lord Kage?"

Kiyoshi smiled and waved an arm towards the open chair. "Good evening, Arashi. Feel free to take a seat, I'd just like to catch up." A press pot sat at the end of the table, with two glass teacups beside it. Kiyoshi sat forward, reached across and pressed the plunger down. "Coffee?" he asked her as he poured.

He sat back with his own cup, taking a long and satisfied sip. The heat didn't seem to bother him one bit. "It's from Taiyō no Kuni," he said. "Brought the beans back with me. Very nice taste. There's some milk and sugar, if you'd like." He gestured towards a carafe and a small plate near to her side of the table.

Kiyoshi set his cup aside. "I've been wondering about something - I'm sure there're plenty of expectations for you. From your father, from your role as Hancho. But I'd like to know something." Kiyoshi looked to the left, to a copy of the large map he'd commissioned on his voyage. Some of his books sat below; author: Ōshi Kazuya.

He glanced back at her. "If you could do anything - if you had no burdens, had nothing holding you back, what would you do?" Kiyoshi asked with a smile.

"Umm...sure..."

Arashi would make her way over toward the available seat provided, seeing the offer of coffee as she sat. There was a brief moment where she began to examine her surroundings within the space. As she began to add milk to her provided cup, she'd note area as he spoke of the origin of the beans, a raised brow as she then declined on the offer of sugar as she breathed in the aroma. He wasn't lying, the scent alone was rather exotic, yet still didn't have the strong after odor of what was normally from Kaze no kuni. The taste wasn't bitter either, though she added milk to make it far more smooth as she sipped.

Still, she wasn't so caught off-guard to not continue to be aware of who she was sitting with. A large map with markings all over, and a stack of books from the author Oshi Kazuya. In hearing the question, she'd blink for a moment as she lowered the cup from her lips.

If she wasn't obligated to do what she did, if she had little to no responsibilities, what would she do?

It was certainly an off setting question, but not one she hadn't asked herself more than once in her life. In truth, she wondered the same thing but it wasn't possible so she did her best not to think of it. Still, what would she do?

"Honestly?....I don't know....maybe travel..."

With a shrug of her shoulders, the young woman would blink as she saw his smile, doing her best not to mimic it as she held a sheepish grin.

"I've always wanted to try and explore other regions of the world....think the furtherest I've gone is Yukigakure...still...its not like I can go too many places..."

Looking to the side, she'd then release a breath.

"I'm guessin you've done a bit of that also?"

Gesturing her head toward the map, a smirk crossed her lips as she then spoke.

"Usually a map with markings means someone who has plans or had plans..."

Kiyoshi smiled wistfully at the map. "I did, yes. But those times are over." The red thread on the map worked its way from Roran, to Oetsu, Sekara, Yuki no Kuni, and on and on - wrapping all around both continents with smaller threads attached to each nation's capitol.

He turned back to face her. "But all my plans revolve around Sunagakure and Kaze no Kuni now. This is my home, the place that made me into who I am. I've yet to pay my dues." He grinned.

Kiyoshi sipped at the fruits of his labor. His smile didn't fade, though he wondered to himself how strongly her convictions went. Perhaps she was just scared to enthusiastically reveal the things she truly wanted for fear of... something. Kiyoshi didn't know her all that well to say.

"You've still got many years ahead of you, Arashi. Perhaps there'll be time enough for that once you're my age." he laughed while tracing the age lines of his face with a finger. "But I'll keep that in mind - maybe slip you a few missions that'll take you further afield. I've got a role for your father in mind that'd do the job, perhaps you could tag along with him?"

The sun dipped behind the horizon. Kiyoshi stood up and lit the nearby fireplace with Katon, closed its glass door. He sat back down and looked her in the eyes. "What're your plans, Arashi? Surely you have some?" He glanced over at the wall behind him and the framed pictures of his predecessors - Sumiye, his grandfather, cousin, Takato. He wasn't prideful enough to have hung his own picture with them.

Arashi listened as the man whimsy spoke of his previous ventures across the globe, mentioning how those times had come to an end and now his focus was on Sunagakure. To give up such goals was at least admirable in it's own way. Though in saying that she was still young and had time to do the same was a sign that he was at least trying to get to know her. Though the implication being that she'd have to wait till she was older sounded like something you'd say to a child.

It was a hit, but not enough that she'd say anything, not yet...

As she watched him move across the room toward the fireplace, lighting the wood with a flick of his wrist, she'd hear his next statement in regards to perhaps giving her a chance to do just what she wanted, through use of her father's new station. Narrowing her gaze, she'd wait for him to look at her once more so that her eyes revert to normal, relaxing a bit before then taking a sip from her cup as she released a small breath.

"If ya have plans to use me sir, please don't lump me in to an assignment with my father and hope that will be enough to satisfy me..."

Her tone was a bit harden, but she'd then allow a breath to be released as she shook her head.

"Though I imagine he'll be thrilled to know that he still can serve at the pleasure of the village..."

Or your pleasure..

She was probably twisting his words, but honestly the way he was speaking of giving her father a job felt like pity. Still, to travel aboard was something that she knew he enjoyed, and it had been some time since he'd done it.

As he asked just what her plans were, his gaze seemed to shift away from him, looking toward the wall of pictures that was present at his back. They showed the faces of the leaders that had come before him. Each one different from the next.

Her ancestor, his grandfather and cousin, and lastly her father...

She'd seen this wall before many times, looked upon it, dreamed of the meaning to be lined next to such figures. They were indeed the foundations of the village, something she had spoken of before. Each one a representation of their time. While their actions varied, each one had a defining moment. Though she did not see his picture there. Perhaps it had not been made, or simply he did not see himself on it just yet.

Perhaps he felt that he was not ready to be among them...

Still, the question was of her plans...and as her gaze drew away from the faces behind the man that was now king in a way, she'd find herself speaking calmly in response.

"At the moment...my plans involve ensuring that you have the tools and options to make the village as successful as possible, along with keeping it and the people I care about safe...thats all I need to focus on..."

Arashi would then cup her hands in front of her as she continued.

"I don't mean offense...but I don't know you...and your linage is about as diverse as mine when it comes to leadership within the village...but the one thing I could depend on was the knowledge that whatever my father did, at the very least I knew enough about him to understand the conditions in which he did them. You...are still a mystery to me..."

Questioning the leader of the village wasn't exactly ideal, but he had wanted a meeting and this may be one of few chance she'd get to confirm just who she was dealing with.

Was a he royal fool who managed to just barely get out of the village to claim fame or was he someone trying to live up and reclaim something lost to his family years ago...honor and retribution...

"So why don't you tell me your plans and maybe I can share more of mine..."

Kiyoshi nodded serenely and reached over to a shelf next to them. He gently picked up a small glass dove and cupped it in his hands. In a moment, the dove was glowing a dull red and it floated up from his hands and across the room. It clutched his grandfather's portrait in its small claws and ferried it into Kiyoshi's hands before settling into its groove on the shelf and fading.

"Did you know your-" Kiyoshi cut himself off, laughed and grinned. "Sorry. About me." He looked down fondly at the picture of the Second. It was a depiction of him from near to his inauguration, nearly 80 years ago. He looked remarkably similar to Kiyoshi - younger, lacking the blonde of his grandson, but they practically shared the same face.

"When I was young, I looked up to my grandfather - as did many in the village. He was my hero." He smiled wistfully. "Everything I did, I did to impress him. But I was just a boy." He set the portrait down on the shelf, next to the dove and in front of the books he'd penned about the Third Shinobi War.

"I didn't understand him. Didn't know why he was always away. Didn't grasp it all till much later." He looked back at Arashi. "But anyone in the village could say it was clear he loved it. He passed that down to me."

"I want to live up to their legacy," he said with a nod towards the wall. "I want to protect the things that make our land special, want to protect its people. And to do that, I need to make sure no one can ever march here and put our home to the torch again."

Kiyoshi cleared his throat with a slightly pained expression; he poured himself a fresh cup and took a sip. "Your father's a good man, with good ideas - but appeasing enemies and making friends can only go so far. We need to fortify the borders, secure the seas - expand, if we have to, to gain access to the necessities of life. We cannot merely rely on trade."

Kiyoshi smiled at her, settled back into his seat. "Those're my plans. I'd like your help."

Arashi would watch the display of the man's manipulation of chakra and machinary, intently waiting on his response as she sat there. The warmth of the cup began to gently pulse against her skin, yet with hardly any real sensation, it may as well have been a nothing. Still, it appeared as if the Kage struggled at first, yet soon redirected as his questioning of her stopped and then returned to that of himself. With his grandfather's picture in hand, he'd give detail into his inspiration.

He spoke of the man and how he had wanted to impress him in his youth, how he had loved the village and has such, he had gained a similar nature from him. It was certainly a strange notion to think that The Second Kazekage was no more than a man with ambition. Of course, history had a way of coloring people in different light and she certainly couldn't attest to their truth. At best, she could only slightly comment on the Third, but only by a small margin as she was barely capable understanding half of what was happening during those times.

Still, all her own research into the man had been that he was attempting to recreate something of a reconstruction of Sunagakure and bring about a second age of progress and prosperity.

Which ended with him being killed...

Kiyoshi wished to be protect this land, and to do that, he wanted it to progress into such a state where none could dare tread upon them.

Raising her brow, Arashi would continue to listen as she held her hands in front of her. She certainly was getting the look into the new Kage and honestly, she was starting to see more and more of something that had been bugging her for the last few months.

What made a great leader? What was it that the previous Kages had that made them so special? What was it that they gave back and what foundations were each one building upon?

Among some of Arashi's personal fears, aside from an unexpected promotion, was the concept that a new person in leadership would place them all in danger. While it may not have seemed like it, and though Kiyoshi seemed to praise her father's efforts during his time as Kage, he did not agree with his ideas on policy. Nor the concept that he was appeasing their enemies and relaying on trade as the only means of contribution.

He wanted them to expand, to go to using the sea, to fortify their borders and to gain access to the basic needs in life. She could only imagine he meant a stable water source.

In hearing this, Arashi began to see just what she was worried about...

Also having a strange feeling of a dejavu...

As he settled himself back into his seat, he'd state that those were his plans, and that he wanted her help in doing them.

With a calm expression, Arashi would remain silent.

She could already see her thoughts racing, but honestly, the one thing that kept coming to mind was the idea of expansion....

"Ya want me to help you come up with an idea on how to do all that? The last attempt was by your cousin, and that didn't go well...No offense..."

In saying this, Arashi would then rise up as she spoke again.

"As for sea fairing...at best, we'd have to deal with Kiri...which likely little aid from Yuki since they are neutral..at worst...ya have Amegakure, Kiri, and Iwagakure responding with war...we'd have a battle on two fronts and even then...we'd have to rely on our allies in Konoha, Kumo and Kusa to aid us..."

Arashi would then grow silent as she rose from her seat with a serious expression.

"Our people have only now started to forget what happened here and those that can even remember it have only now made peace with it and ya want us to put them through that again?"

Kiyoshi raised a brow at her - evidently the closest he'd get to angry, despite his everpresent smile. "I have no intention of repeating Saburo's mistake. Or those of my grandfather." Even if he'd thought otherwise as a youth, he'd had many years to realize that his relatives were hardly perfect men.

He met her serious and concerned gaze with an understanding one, but one that pleaded for her to sit back down. Her worries were understandable, very. The implication that he didn't know or care pained him, more than the dull ache in his lungs. "I lost my grandfather to war. My aunts and their children. Friends that I'd grown up with."

His amber eyes looked into hers, asking her to empathize. "My cousins and most of my clan in another. I want to prevent that - prevent it from happening to any of our people, ever again." Even so long after the fact, the losses he'd suffered in those wars still haunted him. He would never willingly subject his countrymen to that - to losing their best friend and love, like he did - especially not Arashi.

"Ending up in a war with any Shinobi nation is the very last thing I want." He gestured for her to take her seat. "I know the consequences of that better than anyone."

While his expression hardly gave any reason for her to think that he heard her words, the response that followed gave indication that he had. As he gestured for her to sit back down, Arashi would remain where she was, realizing only now that her hands were firmly placed upon the table. She'd see the marks etched upon it's surface much like scratches, the wooden shards imprinted on her fingernails. She had made a promise to her Aunt that she would never forget that she was not only a Commander, but she was the voice of the people, the ones that could not speak for themselves.

She recalled the nights she spent on the streets, the state of the outskirts all those years ago. The faces, the families without homes and having to live in ruins. She'd walked those streets, lived on them by choice. She'd seen the faces, she'd watch them every day.

She had the luxury of a Manor thanks to her family, but others didn't get that.

Similarly, so did Kiyoshi...

But the difference between them was that while Arashi had never seen war first hand...he had...

He acknowledged enough that he did not want to loss any more people to conflict, like he had lost so many friends and his family...and that he knew the pain of that better than anyone...

A smirk crossed her face as she then sat herself down...

A war was the last thing he wanted...but what did he think would happen with such a move?

"I don't know what ya want me to say...."

Arashi would then allow her smirk to fade as she shook her head.

"Should I say yes?"

The fact was clear that Sunagakure would probably not last long the way it was going. This much was true. Granted, they were doing well enough, but Kiyoshi held a valid point. Trade couldn't be their only source of income. More than that, even with how many people they trained, it still would not be enough to defend against a full scale attack if one came for them. But to do that, they needed what came from possible extension of their region.

But the risks almost ultimately outweighed the reward of such a venture...

Still...if she put her feelings aside for a moment...she could see the logic behind it and understand the need to try.

Leaning back into her seat, Arashi would sigh before then closing her eyes and taking a breath.

"If you do this....you can't overreach...the moment someone realizes what your doing...you put everything we have at risk...The village, its people....YOU...If you remember that...then it's...possible for you to do this..."

Kiyoshi nodded. "You're right - it'll be like a tightrope. One wrong step and we'd risk destruction." He'd seen the perils of that with his grandfather and cousin. Strong leaders, sure, but they'd believed they could do everything by themselves.

But Kiyoshi had never been adverse to asking for help. "That's why I need strong hands - people who will help keep me balanced and on the right path." He'd spent his entire career as a team leader. No one person could do everything, especially not guide a nation and village. "I want you to want to help me." he said with a smile.

"And," he continued, "I want to know what you'd like to do. I have no intention to keep you confined like a caged animal." He wasn't sure (or, caught up on) the exact details of the situation between her and her father regarding her status as a Jinchūriki - but inferences weren't hard to make, especially given how most villages treated the hosts of their Bijuu.

Having a subservient - a yes-man - at his side wasn't something Kiyoshi was interested in. Arashi was her own woman - and anything that made that less so was utterly unnecessary. He had no desire to meddle in her life or her choices, or to try and control her. Allowances could be made - she was the Jounin Hancho, and if she accepted, an important part of his inner circle.

"Wait...so you agree?"

There was a bit of disbelief on her face as she said this, of course, she managed to recover from her shock by then looking off to the side as she collected herself in hearing the rest of just what the man had to say.

"Sorry...Just a first time for somethin new today..."

It was different from usual conversations with those that were in high positions. She couldn't vote herself out of that either as she usually tended to want to be right. Of course, she had enough humility to admit that she wasn't. This was something completely opposite as Kiyoshi didn't want to walk this path on his own, he was looking for allies within the village and he was gunning for her harder than most.

Just hearing him want her to want to help him was probably one of the few times that someone just straight up asked. Though she wasn't so easy to sway, and it was because she knew that he knew just what she represented in regards to both being his Second and the One Tails.

Though it was certainly inspiring to imagine that he was trying to get more out of her than just a vote of confidence...

"You know that my job is to the people....If ya can manage to get them to agree I don't see any..."

This wasn't about them though...as he quickly implied...

He wanted her to want to help...not out of obligation or job services...

I want to know what you'd like to do. I have no intention to keep you confined like a caged animal..."

A life that wasn't caged...

It was an interesting notion to make...despite him not knowing exactly just what kind of binds she actually had...

Arashi had felt caged before...it wasn't simply a tower that kept her stuck...it was everything that she knew being here.

Granted, there had never been a need for her to want more than what she had gained over the years since her years of isolation within that place. She took her responsibilities to the people she loved, her family and friends, and to the security of the village seriously.

Sure, there were moments when she considered just what she would do if she didn't have those things...Honestly, worst cases in those moments where that she might be someone that she didn't recognize. In others...she saw freedom unlike any she'd ever known.

The ability to shape whatever she wanted into reality...the chance to actually see the world in ways she never experienced...

"What I'd like to do...and what I'd want to do....you can't give me...."

Narrowing her eyes, Arashi would then release a breath before then shaking her head.

"I want to be a part of something...that I fully believe in....that I'd die to protect...and I can wake up in say that I was a part of something that greatly changed...everything...."

Allowing her gaze to shift toward Kiyoshi, she'd then kept it centered on him with a calm expression.

"You're just a man with another idea....just like my dad...so the best ya gonna get from me is that I have no intention of gettin in your way...because I don't believe in you..."

In saying this, Arashi would then close her eyes before looking to the side.

My father once told me a story....of how he had watched your cousin die on the battlefield....He told me of how he would have done anything to protect him....to take the blow for him....he didn't need to say how much he believed in him to give off the impression that he'd die for him, but that amount is something that can't be given...it's earned..."

Arashi would return her gaze as she nodded her head.

"You say you don't want me placed in an convenient cage...fine...because we both damn well know I'd not go into one willingly...."

There was something to be said about wishing someone to try something and expecting the worst. If she was playing into something, she was allowing it to be known that she'd die before it happened.

"That isn't a threat...thats a promise...and it will take some time before ya find another person that will match and you can't afford that with what you want to do..."

Saying this, Arashi would then hold a serious expression as she continued.

"So what I'd like...is for you to make me not have to even consider what I'd need to do if you do put us in danger...I want you....to make me believe...."

Ultimate Defense

A Skill granted by her continued use and developed relationship with Shukaku over the continued use of his control over sand, Arashi has a stronger connection to the element, allowing her to use it at a much more intensive rate than before. As such, her defenses are much more adapt and capable of taking on stronger attacks and reinforcing itself at faster speed. This adaptation to the sand shield allows for it's reaction time to have increased and make it more challenging for attacks to connect and break through the first layer, while acting still on the natural inclinations of auto-repairing itself for the next strike.

She was right - it wasn't something he could give her. As far as Kiyoshi was concerned, there was only one person in the world that could do that for her - herself. Yet he merely smiled without saying anything and continued to concentrate on her words.

Patiently, he listened until she'd finished. With an affirming nod, he leaned forward wordlessly and filled his cup once more. The room was lit only by the light of the braziers and the fireplace now, the sun having fled behind the cliff. Kiyoshi savored the taste of the tea.

There were no words he could say to make her believe. Only actions would do that - and time. Time to prove he was committed to the village, that his words weren't idle promises. "Then I will." he finally said, lightly.

A contemplative moment passed. He considered saying more on the matter, decided against it. "There's a lumber shipment coming from Sekara." he said. "I had it escorted here by some Chuunin, but I want to see it personally to Roran." Kiyoshi didn't mention the somewhat sensitive origin of the lumber, or her father's role in seeing it here to Sunagakure. He'd tell her during the trip, if she agreed.

The importance of the shipment couldn't be understated though. "As you know, lumber is a precious resource for us. This shipment in particular is incredibly important to my - to our - future plans." He hoped his sincerity was evident in his voice and words - it was very important to him. "I'd like for you help me ensure it reaches its destination."

WORDS. xxx

NOTES:

It wasn't an easy task to make someone believe in someone. It wasn't a gift or an object that was granted upon approval. It was earned through their efforts and how they presented themselves. Arashi had certainly had to do so in a lot of different ways. It had taken her years to prove that she wasn't some monster that stalked the village, even more so that she wasn't a pampered princess that got her way with just a snap of her fingers.

Kiyoshi was indeed Kage...that much was true...but to many including herself, that title rang hollow if there wasn't some kind of effort behind it. Something the showed that he was the leader that people coudl look to...

While she had disagreements with her father and didn't always see eye to eye with him on everything, he had certainly earned the respect that he got and the belief of the people in the village to do what he had to in order to secure it. Not many could say that...

So as the man remained silent in hearing her statement, Arashi prepared to make her leave and likely her resignation, only to hear him comment that he would.

Raising her brow, Arashi would then look at him as he made mention of a lumber shipment that he had escorted here and that he wished taken to Roran.

"Seems a bit of a waste of manpower...especially if it came from Sekara..."

Granted, getting anything out of Sekara without guard was risky, but still to send Chunin as a means to secure it seemed excessive. Not to mention odd for simple lumber. As he continued to speak on his intention of seeing it taken the rest of the way, noting how important it was to their future plans, he'd state how he would like her to be there with him during the outing.

"Pretty sure I should mention how it's a bit weird for a Kage to be doing an escort run...not to mention how dangerous it could be..."

As she said this, she'd then smirk before then releasing a breath before resting her hands upon her lap.

"Course..if its important to our future than I guess I can't argue...I'm in..."

There was still much about the man that she didn't know...but if this was his way of trying to prove his desire for the faith of everyone under him, she wouldn't deny him that. Nor would she ignore it...

After all, if it proved that he wasn't anything that he was making himself out to be...she'd probably have to kill him...

Not an easy thing to consider...

It is for me...

Still she meant what she said in wanting him to make her believe...a strong part of her needed that...

She had to have...something...anything...to make this worth it...Because then what else would being a Kage mean if all it was to be just another individual that had an idea that went nowhere?

If her father had fallen short, then what did Kiyoshi bring to the table that was different? Only time would tell...and she'd apparently be along for the ride.

"Guess that means I hold on to my resignation letter a bit longer..."

He smiled. "I guess so," he said in jest. Kiyoshi set his cup back on the table, stood up and hung his grandfather's portrait back up on the wall. He tapped it level.

Kiyoshi asked her to wait a moment as he disappeared behind a plumage of vegetation. There was sounds of snipping, sand being disturbed, and then a warm orange glow spread across the back wall. The Fifth reappeared with a small glass globe in his hands. He sat back down and - after shaking it - set it in front of Arashi, gestured that it was for her.

It was a small glass dome, filled partially with sand atop a sandstone base. There was a miniature replica of Sunagakure formed from glass in the center, the buildings and wall half buried and obscured by the floating grains - like a picture of the village during a sandstorm.

Cradled in the middle was a pink-and-white flower - "Adenium obesum," Kiyoshi explained as the flurry of sand settled, "from the southern coast." The Desert Rose shone vibrantly, encased in a thin layer of glass which - he explained - would prevent it from decaying. "Just a small memento." he said with a smile.

"I'll see you tomorrow then, at the gates." he concluded after giving her a moment. Kiyoshi lent over and grabbed a stack of books that he'd been reading prior - texts on Hayashi no Kuni and Kaminari no Kuni. "Hopefully the night'll be restful," he said to no-one in particular. "we'll both want to be at our best." he grinned.

Kiyoshi bowed a small farewell to her, expected she'd have no trouble finding the exit.
