Description:
To the west of Sunagakure no Sato is an untapped resource that hadn't been touched due to the breakdown of trust between the badlands and mainland Sekara. We need teams of Shinobi to investigate information learned of potential resources hidden in the mountains east of Sekara. Though, the problems there are rife: the further one goes into these lands, the more trouble they are to encounter.

It is this team's task that they are to both survey, identify if there are any rare minerals, mines, gemstones or anything that can be used to bring money into Sunagakure. Additionally: there is bound to be trouble from lack of proper routes, to criminal hideouts, natural wildlife and more!

Risuki stands atop a dune in the badlands west of Sunagakure, ensuring that the Hung Gar rings she typically wears on her wrists and ankles are firmly in place. Her knuckle dusters were also ready, and the brown wolfdog pelt across her back was floating on the rare and blessed breeze that plays and dances across the tops of the dunes and also tousles her short red hair. It was a bit annoying, but she waits until the breeze dies down, then runs her hands across her clothing, the white buttoned shirt and her suspenders, then her brown slacks. She wanted to look her best for the companion on this mission, although she'd never heard of him. This job sounded like an odd one for her, but she was prepared for it, though she wondered what her partner on this mission would be like. Her blue eyes scan the horizon around her when she sees a figure traveling along the dunes towards her.

Thankfully, it was nearing the end of the day, though not quite sundown just yet, so the sunlight and the heat was not nearly so harsh as it might have been. It was the perfect time of day to work; not too hot, but not freezing from the night before. In this desolate landscape, the heat from the day doesn't last all night, and there's no moisture to trap the heat in the atmosphere. As hot as it is during the day, you can freeze to death in the night, and so once the sun begins to set, one needs to work fast in the desert. Risuki turns back towards the mountain range that would be their surveying point, the Sunagakure headband hanging from her belt flashing in the dim red light of the setting sun, making the distant star seem like an angry, glaring eye that set the sky above ablaze in its rage.

"Easy, Sota. Easy, boy. We'll get in there, find the ore, and get out. I'm sure there aren't as many criminal hideouts as the Kazekage thinks there are..."

As she speaks, Risuki pats her shoulder, speaking to the pelt as though it were a living pet. To her, it was something close to that, but she quiets down now, as she's sure that her partner is approaching soon.

Walking through the land of winds deserts, Yosen could only bring his mind to wonder on how today's mission was like most of the ones he participated in back in his younger days as a shinobi. Leading him to wonder if he had ever been in the same position as the Genin he was currently on the way to meet was. As Yosen was more than sure he had probably been scouted by the likes of the sapper corps and other special operation units in Sunagakure as a Genin just as he was doing now. Especially when it came down to the fact of who his main sensei was, though now wasn't the time for Yosen to steadily ponder the past as he found himself slowly nearing the meeting point for today's mission.

With the sun setting in the west, it would be directly in the front of Yosen as he entered what was known as the badlands to those of Sunagakure. Moving silently and swiftly through the desert sands, Yosen would make no sounds as he moved on the sand like the dessert winds itself. Dressed in his casual Suna attire today to blend in with the regular Jounin of the village. Yosen would be in his standard Suna flat jacket, with some black hakama’s and a standard Suna cloak, to help shield him from the dangers of the desert. His ninja head band would be slightly in a strange spot for most, with Yosen wearing his near his sword belt on the left side of his body, in a way to help keep his two swords more secure to his side.

Shortly after entering the badlands, Yosen would see a woman standing atop a dune not too far off into the distance that was to be the meting spot. Moving swiftly but just as quiet as the wind, Yosen would make his way towards the girl on the Dune, with her red hair easily letting him spot her, he could only wonder what type of Genin he had been partnered with today, as she would be one of the first, he would be starting the evaluation process for future opportunities, though he currently knew little to nothing about her to begin with having never took the time to look over all the files he had recently inherited. Reaching the Genin woman, Yosen would stand in complete silence as he found himself a few paces back from her. Looking almost like a giant in comparison to the Genin, he could tell was not much younger than himself. As he proceeded to observe her and give her the opportunity to start the encounter.

[Karamatta Risuki]

Risuki turns to look at the shinobi partnered with her for the mission, but is a bit concerned when he doesn't even introduce himself, or even give her a hello. Not a great start for her, but she gets right down to business as well as a self-introduction. If he's with the Sapper Corps, he's perhaps more used to people knowing exactly who he is and being addressed first as the specialist. She gestures towards an open mouth cave that was actually angled away from them; someone would have to move around a hundred meters forwards in order to actually see inside the cave, but it also meant that Risuki was out of view for anyone who might be inside the cave, while letting Risuki herself catch sight of anyone who steps out.

"Hello, I'm Risuki. The mission is to track down or find any kinds of mining tunnels that we can use to enrich Sunagakure's bank vaults in these mountains. So far, I haven't seen any miscreants walking in or out of this cave, but that doesn't really mean anything; for all we know, they're avoiding the heat of the desert and moving around with an extensive cave system through the mountains. I haven't been able to scout out the inside of the place yet, and I've only been here about an hour."

It's a short situation report, but that's genuinely all the information she has just yet. She's not sure if she's supposed to come up with the plan first, or if the sapper wants to come up with a plan based on that information. For the moment, the plan might be to stop wasting time and to get in there, which she was somewhat hoping might be the answer, or to sit and watch a while longer, just to make sure the coast was clear, or some third option that he would come up with on his own. While she recognized that the second option was most likely to be the most safe and cautious choice, she'd also already been standing around and doing very little for an hour. She was anxious for some action, and practically raring to go; the excitement that flashes in her eyes betrays her eagerness to do rather than watch.

Letting the Genin take the lead for this encounter, Yosen would instantly notice the first mistake that the Genin would make today in his mind, though it would be a small one, one Yosen would notice it indeed. With the Genin known as Risuki failing to do a proper introduction, only giving her first name and not her clan or sir name. Something that Yosen would see as a small miss formality, but a missed formality none the less. Though Yosen would show no emotion as he listened to Risuki, not even the slightest of facial movement. He would take the time to look over in the direction that the Genin pointed in, allowing him to take notice of the cave entrance that the Genin strategically positioned herself from. A move that Yosen would consider a smart one on the Genin's behalf and show him that she was adept enough to be aware of her surroundings, giving her a few points in his books.

Listening to Risuki, Yosen would learn that the Genin took the initiative to arrive to the meetup location an hour early and start the scouting process of the cave entrance. And informing Yosen that she had yet to see anyone leave the cave during her scouting, informing him that she felt the head of the dessert what was keeping them inside as she had yet to enter the cave herself, something Yosen was ready to change this very moment.

Keeping his same militant posture and straight face, Yosen would proceed to follow up Risuki’s the moment she finished speaking. "I am Yosen Kyokujitsu, Jounin member of the Sapper corps, and the assigned lead of today's mission. Give me a quick rundown of your skills and strengths as we move, keep it quick and stay alert Genin”. Finishing his quick and straight to the point speech, Yosen would instantly start to make his way towards the cave entrance moving as silent as the dessert wind, and not even taking the time to turn and see if Risuki was moving with him, as he more than expected her to get the point when he moved, slightly forgetting that he was dealing with a Genin of the village and not those he found himself in the normal company of on missions.

[Karamatta Risuki]

Risuki is quite surprised to hear the Jounin announce himself to be Yosen Kyokujitsu, and she realizes she should have recognized the Blade of Dragon's Spine much sooner. She almost stumbles on her words and in her steps when he orders that she give a quick rundown of her skills and strengths while moving, and although she bristles a little at being referred to by rank and not by name, she doesn't call him out on his rudeness. After all, Sappers were apparently a different breed, a type all their own, and she didn't know much about them or their usual manners of address. She puts the rudeness aside anyway because they're on a mission at the moment, and already on the move. Risuki could complain all she likes after the mission, and she probably wouldn't anyway.

While she's able to speak and move at the same time, she isn't really able to move as silently or as gracefully as Yosen is clearly able to; after only a few steps, each one causing rivulets of sand to slip down over the dune, she resigns herself to stop trying to be completely silent in her movements and to simply walk more carefully, with her body dropping lower on the dune as they start to approach the mouth of the cave, allowing her to continue moving towards the cave without standing out as a silhouette above the dune.

"I'm a member of the Karamatta clan, so I can use my Nuime in a close-quarters fight, where I'm at my most effective. I hit hard and I move fast, as does my friend Sota here. I use Wind Release to help me attack and move faster, and I use my natural strength and my Hung Gar rings to smash people really hard."

As they move closer to the cave mouth, she makes sure to move closer to Yosen so she can drop her voice lower, although she still avoids moving up to the top of the dune any further. She'd done some hunting in the desert before, back when her Nuime had still been her pet instead, she knows that the top of the dune is where someone gets found out first. She feels a bit silly when almost her entire toolbox involves close quarters combat, and she resolves herself to learn more long range Wind Release techniques, which should help her quite a lot in the future.

Never even considering to turn around as he gracefully moved towards the cave entrance, Yosen would listen to the Genin Risuki as she listed her combat information like Yosen asked. Though Risuki would instantly circle back to the first mistake with Yosen in her introduction. As now the Genin found herself telling Yosen of her clan's name, a clan Yosen was slightly familiar with having been a part of the land of wind for many years, as well as having some nomadic roots like his own clan the Kyokujitsu. Though Yosen wasn't completely familiar with the likes of the Karamatta clan, Risuki wouldn't be the first one he'd meet, though Yosen was sure she was probably the first Genin one he interacted with.

Listening to Risuki speak Yosen would also take note that the Genin wasn't able to explain her skillset in the quickest of ways possible as he instructed, though Yosen would have to do his best to remember that he was dealing with a shinobi still somewhat on the beginning of their path, and not one who had also partaken in special operations training like Yosen had started doing at a young age. Though Yosen would take note that the girl was a close-range combat fighter like himself, even if she was a user of Taijutsu instead of Bukijutsu and even had one elemental nature in common, though Yosen was sure many in the land of wind had the Fuuton elemental affinity.

Reaching the mouth of the cave slightly before RIsuki, Yosen would try his hardest in making sure not to forget about the Genin and rush ahead leaving her behind. As he would slightly turn as he waited to see that she had taken on some weird crouching method in what would seem to be some method to better hide her shadow from over the Dune. A move that Yosen could relatively see as a smart one on the Genins part, and one that would give her the first positive mark today with Yosen on his evaluation of her today.

Keeping the same lacking of emotion tone that was the natural voice of Yosen, he would give his next orders to the Genin Risuki. "Once we enter the mouth of the cave stay in the broken three-man formation and keep your eyes on the lookout of anything that seems out of place”. Keeping his orders straight to the point, Yosen not even take the time to confirm if Risuki understood everything he said before he would turn around and start to walk the entrance of the cave, keeping himself alert and aware of his surroundings as he proceeded to look for anything that could help progress their mission.

[Karamatta Risuki]

Risuki herself nods once as he quickly describes his orders, although... his description leaves little for her to understand. Such as: what a three-man formation, or a broken three-man formation, looks like, and what should look out of place inside of a cave. The Karamatta had never engaged in clandestine operations after all, and she'd only really spent much time out in the desert when she wasn't in Sunagakure proper. The Genin can only hope that it should be somewhat obvious where she should stand, though, because before she can ask any questions about what he means, he's already on the move. Risuki bites her bottom lip a little in annoyance, but she doesn't let too much of her emotional state show. This Jounin was far more stoic than she was, and she determined that stoicism was something that this ninja was looking for.

Instead of trying to stop him and ask for clarification, she follows after him to the mouth of the cave, moving immediately out of the entrance and along the wall nearest to her, as a silhouette in a doorway made for an easy target, she felt. She wasn't really here to intimidate anyone if they were there, and if anyone was there, she would prefer to take them as silently as she could. Thankfully, since they were doing this mission around dusk, the light outside wasn't much brighter, allowing Risuki's eyesight to adjust somewhat swiftly to the darker zone of the cave, though she had her hands at the ready for handseals if she needed to perform a jutsu at a moment's notice. There's no immediate attack, so she slowly lowers her hands, though the smell of the cave was... odd. After a moment, she realizes what the smell is, one she'd smelled a rare few times when she'd been too tired after a workout to clean out the contents of her gym bag, only to open it the morning after. Her remarks are quiet in the dark, careful to keep her voice from being carried by the echoing walls

"That's human body odor. That means people haven't just been visiting this cave, but living here as well."

She reaches up and grabs hold of the pelt on her right shoulder, fingers ready to fling it out and surprise any bandits that might come slinking out of the shadows with her Nuime. When nothing happens for a few moments, she slinks further into the cavern before finding an odd discrepancy in the wall; most of it was wet, dripping with the rainwater that occasionally gets trapped inside the stone and then weeps out for a long while, but there's a dry spot on the wall that she drags her fingers across; about three meters wide, and three meters tall in an oblong shape. Risuki keeps her eyes on the dry spot, raising a hand and waving Yosen closer.

"I'm no geologist... but this ain't the right kind of rock for this part of the cave, I reckon..."

Entering the mouth of the cave that was seeming to be the central location of their mission, the smell would instantly hit the nostrils of Yosen as it was a peculiar one that Yosen was easily able to recognize the first part of, though it's strange mix with another smell was one that caught Yosen for a surprise. With it being one that was a very rare smell in the inner parts of the land of Wind, and possibly the cause of their mission today if Yosen could guess with the smell getting stronger and stronger with each step deeper into the cave Yosen took, before stopping due to the voice of the Genin Risuki. With Yosen only taking the time to stop and listen to the Genin, in the hopes of not putting too much distance in between them just for the fact Yosen was sure the Genin wasn't trained to communicate in situations such as this one. While stopping to listen to Risuki, Yosen would proceed to slightly turn his body allowing for him to be able to glance at the Genin from the bottom corner of his eye while still being alert to what was going on in the front of him.

Hearing Risuki, speak of the strong body odor in the cave, Yosen could see that the Genin was able to grasp one of the two strange odors in the cave once they entered. And it would seem to have her on alert as Yosen managed to catch her grasping for the pelt on her shoulder, no doubt preparing herself for the possible outcome of attack as she took silence one again. Yosen took this as a sign of her inexperience in situations such as this one, though he would let it slide as he proceeded for her to resume and finish speaking before, he proceeded onward into the cave. Knowing that putting too much separating between the two of them when the Genin was already showing nervousness was not a good idea in the long run.

Though this time when Risuki would begin to speak, she would start to wave over Yosen as she proceeded to speak of the strange rock in the cave wall. Stating to Yosen that she felt that the rock in the cavern did not belong and was off to her. A statement that would slightly get Yosen’s interest, though he felt the Genin needed to do better at first inspections, especially in a scenario like this one. Taking several small steps back towards Risuki, Yosen would still be aways back from the Genin and the strange spot on the wall. "Give it further inspection.” Yosen would say in the same emotionless tone he had had been speaking in since he met Risuki, as he proceeded to put himself in a better position to react if something did happen once Risuki further inspected the wall.

Risuki frowns when it seems like her Jounin compatriot was giving her very little in return for her own statements, but she didn't exactly know him that well, and didn't know if this was normal for him or if he was just trying to use this mission as a teaching moment for her. She takes a deep breath as she steps back from the rock wall, observing the stone in the low light and then reaching forwards to run her fingertips just barely along the wall until she actually finds a seam, just a little smaller than the thickness of one of her fingernails, where the natural rock wall of the cave meets with the dryer rock, and she decides that this dry rock must be hiding something. Perhaps whoever had done this was a user of Earth Release, because she didn't think she saw any kind of mechanism.

The Genin then decides on a more brash action, and she starts fitting the knuckle dusters over her fingers; combined with the Hung Gar rings and her natural enhanced strength, such tools were exceedingly helpful in improving the damage her simple Taijutsu could do by focusing all that force into a much smaller surface area, but then she figures it'd only be fair to tell the leader what she was planning, simply so he's not surprised by her sudden violence.

"This wall is either made by Doton users or there's some kind of mechanism to open it. I don't know where the mechanism is and I don't even know if there is one. If there isn't, we'd waste a lot of time on a wild goose chase. If there is some kind of mechanism, it might still be a trap. So instead, I'm gonna drill my fist straight through the rock and break faces, because people are definitely living in this cave, and if they can use Doton, then they're probably missing nin."

Of course, if there were Doton users, Sunagakure would have already sent hunter nin out to look for them, track them down, and exterminate them if they could. Risuki might not have been thinking it through, but at least she was decisive about it. She turns back towards the rock wall, pumping both arms in quick motions to ready her biceps for the great force needed for the job before she moves forwards, pushing from her foot against the rock floor to concentrate all the muscles in her body into a straight punch directly into the rock face.

Still standing back at about twenty meters away from the Genin Risuki, Yosen would calmly watch as she did her investigation of the strange piece of wall that she had spotted upon their entering the mouth of the cave. A find that Yosen would mark as a good one for his evaluation of Risuki. Though he could only wonder what she would do next as he instructed her to further the investigation of the wall, a task Yosen would assume seemed to discomfort or frustrate Risuki due to his hearing of her taking a deep breath before proceeding with the task at hand. But it was only customary for a shinobi to get used to situations through real life experiences in Yosen’s opinion, and seeing what Risuki already knew without his input or direct help, seemed the best way for him to evaluate her.

Listening to Risuki, speak of the wall, Yosen would take note that she felt the strange spot she had noticed on the wall was either made by someone using chakra with the doton nature, or something hosting a secret mechanism like device, that she felt they did not have the time to locate or want to possible use to alert anyone possibly on the other side. Showing to Yosen once again she did have some knowledge on how to deal with situations such as this one, giving her another positive mark in her evaluation. Even if Yosen did feel she took too long with her response, especially if she felt the possibility of missing ninja in the cavern.

But Risuki’s, way of handling the situation of the wall would be the most interesting note yet for Yosen to take, as he watched the Genin take a proper stance as she proceeded to punch straight threw the wall with her fist using her pure strength and not a jutsu of some sort. A feat Yosen would mark as impressive and bold, especially if she managed to do it with one single punch, as Yosen was sure he knew chuunin and Jounin that wouldn't be able to accomplish a feat as such as this. But he could only watch in silence as he waited for the finished outcome of the punch.

[Karamatta Risuki]

Risuki's first punch certainly caused a lot of damage, though not quite enough to punch all the way through, but she immediately follows it up with a second punch in the exact same location, the sound of the steel knuckle duster smashing into and then through rock ringing throughout the cave as the Genin finally manages to break through the few inches of rock wall behind an open cavern. Of course, like all rocks, as soon as she actually manages to break it a little, the stone crumbles, giving Risuki enough of an opening to tear the rock wall away using just her sheer strength. The scent inside the cavern causes her to wrinkle her nose; whoever had been there had been hiding out there a long time, and the eyes staring out at her in wide-eyed fright was enough for her to know she'd had quite an impact, and not just on the rock wall.

"Gotcha."

She reaches her arm in, grabs hold of what she can, then yanks the person through what remains of the rock wall, tossing the figure to the ground to crumple at their feet. With the doorway now fully open, there's a lot more light pouring into the cavern, revealing two others that had been sleeping until very recently. the one Risuki had seen had been sleeping the closest to the false wall, having apparently fallen asleep during his own guard duty, since he'd been surprised by Risuki tearing through it like sheetrock. Risuki now throws down her pelt, making sure that it lands within her shadow so with a quick motion where she flings off her knuckle dusters, she performs the single handseal required for her to meld her shadow with the pelt.

The normally brown pelt turns a minty green as her shadow takes on the form of the giant wolfdog that was Risuki's Nuime, and with some effort, the beast launches itself at one, then the other of the two vagabonds, pushing them out towards Risuki for the shinobi herself to take them on. With both hands balled back up into fists and the Hung Gar rings rattling around her wrists, Risuki herself is giving them a nasty-looking glare, topped off with a smirk that shows her willingness for violence as well. Now they were trapped between two great beasts, and Risuki seemed intent on making them surrender or getting a pound of flesh from each of them.

"Yer dead meat! Yer dog food!!"

Still standing in silence and as though he was a statute watching the Genin Risuki demonstrate her pure physical strength with the wall punches. Yosen would be intrigued to see her attempt the motion in one attempt, though no surprise to him when her act of pure strength failed in the task. He could only give the Genin some partial mental props as he watched her follow through with the second. A feat he would have considered truly impressive had it not been for the many other negative possibilities an action like that could bring to a mission of this sort, especially in their current situation. Though he knew the most dangerous of outcomes wasn't possible in this area currently with his morning reports on missing ninja activity in the land of wind, Yosen could not lead the Genin to believe that this mission was any less important or life threating. Wanting to get the best possible evaluation that he could of Risuki today.

Watching Risuki break through the strange spot of the wall that she had noticed, Yosen would take note of the parts of the rock and stone that broke from the force of the Genin's punch. The breaking of the rock showed Yosen, that the secret spot they had found was not made of chakra but of actual real stone. And probably had some secret mechanism to open it that they didn't have the time to look for, as Risuki had mentioned earlier. Yosen finally taking the time to move closer, would do so, as Risuki managed to reach in for the first culprit inside of the hiding spot they had just discovered.

Seeing as Risuki threw the young boy on the ground while also preparing her pelt for combat, Yosen would take note of not only the Genin, but the boy that was now in the front of them both. With Yosen taking some time to notice some things about the boy and the other two now cowering in the open hole Risuki had made, as she proceeded to threaten the child. Yosen easily recognized the markings and dress style of the children, as one of the few nomadic tribes that still found itself in the land of wind.

Not wanting things to escalate too fast, Yosen would proceed to speak in his same rather dry and lacking of emotion voice. "Risuki hold, can't you tell these are children of one of the nomadic tribes of the land of wind, look at their markings and clothing style. Get the other two out of the whole and proceed to question them, we need to figure out why these children are here, and if any other members of their tribe are nearby”. Finishing his statement, Yosen would then start to move around the area looking to see if he could find anything else of interest.

[Karamatta Risuki]

Risuki decidedly stops herself from attacking even before Yosen instructs her not to engage in combat with them; they are children, after all, possibly children that only found out about this strange rock cave during the kind of exploration that children often engage in. With the Nuime helping to ensure that the children don't try anything too rash while she works, Risuki tugs one child out of the wall, and then the other; while she's firm, she's not trying to hurt them this time around, only give them the idea that she'll hurt them if she gets mad, and that she's aggressive enough to do so if she's given half a reason to. She now stands with her arms crossed in front of her as she separates them, with Sota licking the surprised and scared faces of the children in order to calm them, gradually, while also keeping them away from Risuki's one-on-one interrogation.

Risuki at least knows enough about the work that one should separate those they intend to interrogate, not allowing them to corroborate or get their stories straight with one another. She thought it odd that Yosen himself wasn't going to get involved further with the interrogation; it was often better to question multiple at the exact same time, thus making it impossible for them to focus on the answers each of the other members give to certain question, since they'd be stressed out during their own interviews. But she assumes he's busy with some work of his own, so she decides to leave him be.

"Any other secrets I oughta know about this cave or any of the other caves nearby? Don't bother lying about it, either; you're gonna stay with me until I find it all, and for everything I find that you don't tell me about, I'll give you one right in the face."

Risuki clenches her fist to make it clear what "one" she'll be putting in his face. This is apparently more than enough to get him talking, with Risuki occasionally having to tell him to stop crying and sobbing because she can't understand him. The more information he gives up, the gentler she treats him, even cleaning off his dirty face by the end of it, and when he finally can't think of anything else to tell her, she tells him that he can go ahead and leave. He seems a bit surprised with that response, but she shoos him off, making sure the other two can see it. Then she's back to her rough, harsh self, grabbing another of the two remaining children and setting them down, the sudden change in her demeanor likely giving this one a bit of emotional whiplash.

"Yer buddy already gave me a lot, so you're gonna have to spill a lot more if you want the same rewards he's gotten! So start spillin'!"

It actually continues in a similar fashion for the last two nomadic children, with Risuki starting off hard and mean, but gradually softening until she sends them away, with far more information about the cave they're currently in as well as its bounties, and several of the nearby caves as well. There was even one a few kilometers away that they said really did have bandits hiding out, but Risuki decides that's a job for another team some other time; with the last one sent away, she returns to Yosen with the information she's managed to gather.

"This was a pretty easy job. I guess ya could call it child's play."

Her tone is dry and and the only betrayal of the humor was that her mouth is twisted into a bit of a smirk, as she releases her shadow from the pelt and places it back over her shoulders, acting rather like a cape.

Keeping both his hands near his waist in a fashion that would allow for the quick drawing of either of his swords, in the slight chance that these nomadic children weren't the only surprise he and Risuki would find in this cavern today. Yosen would proceed to do a quick scan of the nearby area while also keeping a slight bit of his attention on Risuki to see how she would handle the children she had moments ago almost made dogfood to her pelt when she discovered them hidden. Though it would seem the Genin was able to show some restraint to Yosen. Being able to stop herself before the heading of his voice to the situation, as well as extracting the children without bringing them any harm. Giving her yet another positive mark in Yosen’s evaluation today. Even if some might have felt she was a little too rough in her overall handling of the children, treating them more as suspects than actual kids.

Yosen would proceed to move around and pay more attention, and examine the walls around them, and the hole Risuki had made. Noticing that the cave walls had many strange markings and signs that showed this had most likely once been the entrance to a mine for ore that was deeper down into the cavern and most likely closed off long ago, leaving no resources for the village to currently collect. But at least finding its initial location would be of some benefit to the village, as it would allow them to not only potentially open it back up. But use it to find a potentially larger vein of ore in this area that would be of even more benefit to the village and the Land of Wind as a whole. Making this a successful mission in the opinion of Yosen.

Hearing the last of the children leave the cavern as Risuki made her to him, Yosen could only turn and give the genin a slight nod of approval as she proceeded to make what Yosen could only assume was her attempt at a joke. A joke that would get no reaction or response from Yosen as he would only give Risuki what most would consider a blank stare before he would proceed to turn and make his exit of the cavern, expecting Risuki to follow in suit as he started speaking before ever even checking to see if she was following him out. "Karamatta Risuki, overall evaluation positive, shows some potential with natural instincts, further evaluations needed”. Yosen would say in a tone that almost made it seem he was more making a mental note for himself than actually speaking to Risuki.

Risuki feigns being wounded when Yosen doesn't react at all to her joke, not even to tell her to stop making jokes. Still, she follows him out when he steps out towards the darkening sky from the cave, with the Genin blinking a few times as they step out, shivering a bit as a chill runs down her spine. In the cave, their body heat had been reflected back to them by the stone, allowing them to stay warm despite the chill of night, but the low humidity of the desert would have meant that the air didn't hold onto the heat of the day for very long past the time the sun has sunk below the horizon. That's not to say there isn't any heat at all, only that the heat is already starting to run out from the ground and the air around them, as the sky to their east is already starting to populate with stars and the sky to their west is changing from the red that reflects the staring orb of the sky to the more purple hues as the world fades to night.

She raises an eyebrow when this Yosen fellow seems to be talking more to himself than to her, as though he's taking down verbal notes about her performance. Her chest still puffs out with pride when he states that her overall evaluation remains positive and that she shows potential. Although he does state that more evaluations are needed, Risuki figures this means that she's made a good first impression. Since he seems to have been taking notes on her, however, she mentally goes over what she knows about this Yosen person in her own head, instead of stating it aloud. She knows that he's a famous shinobi of Sunagakure, and that he's a member of the Sapper Corps. She also knows that he makes use of a sword for combat; she'd seen him holding onto it more seriously out of the corner of her eye between interrogations with the children. He probably uses the sword more than other techniques, since he hadn't kept his hands free and ready for handseals. She did know he was a Kyokujitsu, but whether or not he had the clan's special kekkei genkai, she had no clue, since he hadn't used it. Of course, his high rank and status as a Sunagakure shinobi and a member of the Sapper Corps made her wonder if he was perhaps looking to recruit her into the Sappers. It was an interesting idea, but she supposes she wouldn't know for certain until after these further evaluations were performed.

This was honestly fine with Risuki; after all, she was likely too young and too low in rank to be a member of the Sapper Corps just yet. She felt that she absolutely could get there, though. Of course, she had no clue that Yosen was a member of the ANBU as well; ANBU members weren't exactly outed very often, and when they were, they weren't ANBU long afterwards.
