Starting Grounds:
Roar of the Arena!

Takigakure's chunnin exams would take place in a hidden tournament room underneath the villages massive tree. This was where the main village was and without signs to guide spectators, it'd be hard to know such an arena would exist here. There was elevated stadium seats surrounding what looked almost like a fighting arena in the center. However the arena had a strange design to it, almost looking like a child's drawing of a flower. A center circle surrounded by evenly sized oval leafs. A total of eight petals, which would be easily noted by them numbered up to 8. The number drawn at the ends of the petals farthest from the very center circle. Large enough to fit most of the petal even.

In the middle circle would be a small wooden table, it'd have a large black pot in the center of it. Surrounding it were camera's clearly designed to be strapped to a person's shoulder. The event was well prepared, as the crowd would be well aware of the exams start, as well as in a surprise notice the exams end. Supposedly the events of this exam would happen before their eyes in one day, it'd be quite the trying task for sure this year! Once the seats were settled in, then it'd be announced the start of the exams would commence.

Upon this announcement the first participant was to be called up, but they'd be summoned in a very unsubtle manner. Speakers surrounding the stadium would burst out the shinobi's name, their chosen nickname, their village and their present personal nindo. This would help round the crowd up, as the contestant was informed to walk to the center table. Upon reaching the table the contestant is to take a ball from the pot in the tables center. Presenting the number on the ball they'll be expected to take and equip a camera to the table, then proceed to that number on the petals.

It'd be once all eight contestants took their spots that the announcer would explain the rules of the first exam! "This first exam is a test of your wit, you'll be proving it by solving a maze. The fastest to navigate the maze will win, it wasn't built to be destroyed, so expect any attempts to fail. Everything you need to escape will be presented at the start of the maze. There's danger at every dead end, so please treat this like your life is on the line, because your lives will be on the line. Make us proud and prove your worth for the chunnin title!" The announcer would finish with a raised arm presenting a flag, a sign for the exam to begin.

Each petal that the contestants stood upon would begin to sink into the ground, they'd seem to move under the stadium and below the crowds seats. Each petal rotating the same way turning the narrow end of the petal from inwards at the center circle to outwards to where the crowd had once been level with them or higher. Now everyone was well above them, the roar of the confused crowd, as large monitors would drop to display what the shoulder's of each contest portrayed. Each had been instructed a specific camera prior to being even announced, so the large displays would be previewing mostly to that village's spectators and other takigakure citizens just free and interested.

It'd be dark in the sunken pits, but it'd get a lot darker, as a loud clank would be heard below them. It'd sound just before the petal suddenly turned into a slide. A slide ejecting each contestant into their own room, it'd be their entry to the pre-mentioned maze. . . It'd be there exit to this thread ~ !

OOC NOTES HERE: Posting order for this thread is first come first serve. The contestant will be making one post each, in it they'll deliver their version of the announcers introduction for them. They'd grab their camera and take a ball of their leisure, this is to be an at random deal. But unlike normal potluck, this thread will be determined by contestant response. First to post gets to pick first number. That'll be the one number contestant two can't pick and so on until all numbers are taken.

After all eight posts or the first exams completion and hence closing of entrance, then this thread will turn into the thread in which people spectate the exam. They'll be seeing it from the shoulder view of the given camera, as well as some camera's strategically placed along the way. This will in fact remain a desired means the shinobi is watched, if anyone lets their camera get damaged. It could significantly decrease their chances of promotions.

Above all, everyone just try to have fun ~ !

Chuunin Exams

Everything for the past six months lead him up to this moment, where all of the contestants stood. Chuunin, all of the failures he had to endure to get here. But despite them, he still mustered enough confidence to arrive. Equipped with a new arsenal of knowledge and techniques, he was finally ready to engage and take this as his best attempt. Did the exams spew false hopes into him like everything else had? Perhaps he was truly ready to take on the world, but he wasn't sure of anything anymore. The illusion of safety was lifted the instant he became a member of the exams, now he just had to survive. The others around him seemed like strangers, not a single personal being around him. At least that made competing against them easier, but they won't be holding back against him either. If there were alliances among them... Well damn.

Regardless, the announcer was calling them up in a rather loud and somewhat annoying manner. "OMORIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII *gasp* REIIIIIIIIIIIIIKI of KUMOGAKURE!" Yay, he just got doxxed! But it didn't stop there. "KNOWN AS THE CHILD OF THE STORM AND ALSO VERY FAMOUS FOR-" Very famous for? Child of the storm? What...? "HIS STATEMENT, 'Life is precious because it is limited, live as long as you can in the short life you have.'" Wow, well... Sure? Yeah, sounds like something he'd say, not that he could recall himself saying it specifically like that. How did the announcer know so much about him anyways? Oh well. Reiki just shrugged as he stepped when he was called, looking to the pot and the camera that was obviously designed to be on his shoulder. And so he would do as such, equipping it on his left shoulder so that his dominant arm had the comfort of moving freely. Once it was secured nice and tight, he would then reach his hand into the pot daringly. It could have been a trap for all he knew! Fortunately, the exams didn't start THAT early, and he managed to pluck out a ball from the pot a few seconds later.

Oh.

It was his lucky day apparently, number seven it is! A small smile lapsed on his face when he saw it, perhaps there was good fortune in this after all. Now all he had to do was step towards the petal that matched the number. Calmly and carefully, that was what he did. Nothing seemed too out of the ordinary for now, but awareness was key, and genjutsu training made him very aware of fallacies and contradictions. Paranoid perhaps, but the last six months drove him into it.

Eventually, his feet were placed on the seventh petal and he stood tall and confident in front of the crowd. What was once up to level with them soon became lower to them, for the petals seemed to be sinking. Reiki felt himself inhaling and exhaling through his lips to keep his nerves calm, fortunately to much success.

And now for the drop, the petal then became a slide. Aw hell yeah! But where did it lead to? The answer is at the bottom of this slide.

i think you're slipping
i bring you pain, the kind you can't suffer quietly
So the day had finally arrived, eh? Nervous was an understatement but excitement was also equally coursing through the boys veins. He had longed for this opportunity for quite some time now, a chance to further his shinobi career but also to prevent falling further behind Yoshiko and Sabishi which may have been an even better motivator. That was dependent, of course, on doing well enough to be selected for advancement but negative thinking wasn't going to get him anywhere. The young Nohime had battled, completed missions, and trained with the best; he was ready.

Ouritsu hadn't much time to explore Takigakure --or what he believed to be Takigakure-- before the exams started which left him a little upset. He enjoyed getting chances to leave Iwa and explore the world around him, so traveling to an entirely different hidden village and not getting to look around bummed him out. But he was here for business so the tourism would have to wait.

So there he stood, in a tunnel waiting for names to be called. They'd be announced to the waiting crowd one by one as an official start to the exams, and it was clear that the spectators were ready to see some action. He could hear their cheers rumbling above him. "Without further ado, let's continue the introductions. Our second competitor has a will as strong as the ground beneath him, fitting since he hails from Iwagakure. From the prestigious Nohime clan, I present Nooohiiime Ouritsuuuu."

A smirk crossed the boys lips as he heard his name called, walking out from the tunnel to behold quite the view: he was in the bottom of an arena, high walls surrounding him and a raucous crowd spazzing about. It was like nothing the genin had ever experienced before and he could feel himself tensing up. But a little nervousness and a crowd wasn't going to stop him now, no, he had come to far; it was better to take this head on. The Nohime would thrust a fist into the air as a large grin would encompass his features. They were here for a show and he was going to give 'em one.

making his way to the center of the arena revealed a small table with a not-so-small pot sitting on it along with the cameras they were supposed to wear. He'd take a couple moments to affix the device to his left shoulder before reaching into the post and grabbing a ball. He'd stare at it for a moment before lifting it into the air so the crowd could see: "4". "The young Nohime has picked number fooouuuur." Spoke the announcer. The boy would turn slightly to locate his petal before taking his place on it.

--

After all the contestants had been introduced and picked their numbers the announcer would explain the design of the first exam: it was a maze and the first to clear would be the winner. He hadn't heard of anything like this from past exams but it figured that they would want to switch things up so no one would have an upper hand, and also to prevent things from getting stale. With a rumble the petals would begin to lower into the ground, sinking lower and lower under the stadium. Where the boy once stood facing the center of the arena he was now standing in the complete opposite direction, but not for long as the once stable petal transitioned quickly into a slide sending the boy flying down until he came to an abrupt stop in a dark room. There was little use in looking around to try and get bearings considering the lack of light so Ouritsu would just have to wait until things got started.

It was a sudden realization that she certainly wasn't in Konoha anymore. Still, the short haired brunette managed to keep her composure, releasing a breath before looking around as it seemed that her name was the next to be called, leading to a sigh frown as she began to walk out towards the center table at the heart of the flower stage set.

"FROM KONOHAGAKURE!!! THE HOT HEAD!! THE FORGOTTEN APPRENTICE AND FALLEN PRINCESS! LETS HEAR IT FOR ADACHI MIHO!!!"

In truth, Miho hadn't realized that she actually had a title, let alone that many. Still, it seemed enough to get people to cheer, leading to her holding up her hand, yet still maintaining her stride. She had to focus, and even something as simple as picking a number had to be done with as much determination as any fight. Though it seemed as though that wouldn't be the first step in this test. With her hand reaching into the bowl, she would soon retrieve the object from it's hold, holding it before the monitor as they would then nod to the commentator as they announced it with as much vigor as they had her name.

"And her number is......6!! SHE WILL BE TAKING THE NUMBER SIX SPOT!!!"

How he managed to hold so much energy was startling, though it didn't phase her as much the second time. Looking over at the others as they began to settle in their own spaces, the teen would continue to listen to the explanation of just what they were going to be doing, a blank expression crossing her face at the idea of this being a maze run. With a camera now attached to her shoulder, she would soon feel the spot start it's descent, leading her to remain still.

This was it...time to see what laid ahead...

The boy honestly didn't want to leave, forget doing the exams. The weather was so much nicer than Suna that it would be a shame he didn't get to spend longer enjoying the much less arid environment. There was still heat, of course, but there was equal amounts of water and shade to go along with it which made this place... paradise. Alas, Asahi had waited for some time to be eligible to participate in the exams and perhaps if passed the ensuing promotion would allow him to travel to places such as these. If he passed at all...

The genin was nervous, that much was apparent. He had no idea what to expect during these exams and had nothing to fall back on except himself. No sensei, no Arashi, just the skills he had developed over the last few years. It'd be a great exercise in getting his confidence up and having to think quicker and act faster, which had been an area marked for improvement since nearly birth.

A few had been introduced before him, all from different villages and equally unfamiliar. That was good, no ties to be tested and strained, yet a host of unfamiliar skills would surely present themselves at some point. Asahi was now up next, the rumbling of the crowd unnerving the boy. Hopefully the announcements wouldn't last too long as standing around being gawked at would only serve to make him more nervous. "Coming out next we have Sunagakure's own 'Soft Sun': Kyokujitsu Asahiiiiii!!!!" The announcer blared signaling it time for the genin to make his appearance. The arena would roar in applause as the boy made his way out of the tunnel, giving a slight wave in response. It was cool that such a stage existed for young ninja to be recognized by the larger shinobi world, but maybe it was just a bit too much for a bunch of teenagers.

Asahi would make his way to the table in the center of the arena, a black pot and shoulder mounted cameras waiting for him. He'd take a moment to affix the device to his right side before reaching a hand in and plucking out a ball. "Number 5 has been picked!!" Spoke the announcer as the genin would make his way to the correct 'petal'. After all the contestants were announced the rules of the first exam were explained: it was a maze. So they wouldn't be fighting to the death right off the bat, eh? That was a relief. Just then the petals they stood on would begin to sink under the arena, turning so that the exam participants would be facing the crowd as they descended. Just then the shape would morph into a slide of sorts sending Asahi careening down until he landed in a dark room. Now things were going to get interesting...

Starting Grounds:
Spectating Begins!

All contestants would soon be ejected from the main stage and dropped into their mazes armed with a camera. There were eight sections of seating each positioned to face a large monitor. The display was each provided from the shinobi in the maze. Each stadium seating would be labeled with a contestant, as each contestant had been ordered to grab a specific camera. This would mean that most would be sitting at the section specific to their shinobi, each section is labeled with a letter. Going up from A based on when the shinobi entered.

Our heroes who'd entered first will be watched from the seating sections, A through D respectively; A being Omori Reiki of Kumogakure, B being Nōhime Ouritsu of Iwagakure, C being Adachi Miho of Konohagakure and finally D being of Kyokujitsu Asahi of Sungakure. The other seating sections would be equally packed with their respective villages, but as the first exam came close to an end some would lose hope. Some over thought the maze and others under thought it, but not everyone would even make it through the maze in the end.

Despite the contestants not being able to hear their villages cheers and shout outs, there were certainly people who couldn't contain themselves sitting at the edge of their seat watching the exams unfold. Others might find this the perfect time to mix mingle and strike up controversy. This was one of few times everyone came together for the same thing.

OOC NOTES: Alright everyone this is the stadium from which everyone will be viewing the exams. Unlike past exams all three tests will be held in one day ICly and will be spectated during all tests. So not only are their actions to obtain a goal, but under the constant scrutiny of their higher ups and those potentially interested in that shinobi lot.

Depending on the shinobi you're watching I ask you post with that seating section placed in your posts title. If this doesn't work I'll just make new threads.

Also keep in mind! Until everyone completes the maze you have no idea of who got out first. So please don't assume the first person done with their thread is the first person out of the maze. Results shouldn't be too long, as most participants are closing in on the end. I believe, maybe.

Above all, everyone just try to have fun ~ !

a falling star fell from your heart.
Watching from the stands with the rest of the crowd, Arashi would see the contestants walk into the arena and draw their numbers. With a calm expression, she saw Asahi go up and seem to pull out the number five from the drawing. It was soon down to simply watching him descend into the maze, a blank expression on her face as she honestly didn't remember this being part of the exams of the past. Still, it was likely a test, just like any other. Now it was up to them to go through with it and complete it. With the first one out being up to them, it was now simply a matter of just hoping that he managed to get through it.

If it had been her, she might have panicked a bit. Especially with her experience with closed spaces. Still, thankfully hers had been along the lines of trial by combat. But as Asahi seemed to be finding his way, she could hear the cheers of many of the Sunagakure's observers, joining in with them as she raised her hands in the air before bringing it back down.

"Come on! You got this Asahi!!"

This country felt wrong. There had been a ever present sense of unease from the first time that he had placed a foot on the country. The air had felt heavy and unwelcoming just as much of its fauna and its plant life. In many ways the deep jungle and the forests that covered the entirety of the country reflected this. The songs and melodies that he had always attributed to Mokuton had felt discordant, deviant and lacking any rhythm that he had encountered on the more familiar forests around Konoha. The song of these forests was one of death and chaos and it had taken effort to ignore the sensation.

He did his best to put his mind. Replacing one concern after another as he left that creeping sensation slip. He stood under the shade, his hood pulled up and arms crossed over his chest as he heard the names be called, a genin after the next as they were called upon, their accolades and monikers made bare to the world in between the thunderous applause and the deafening roar of the attendants around the arena. He heard the names and recognized none only noting their villages and making theoretical about what their abilities could be be just their appearance.

It was however when she heard the name of his beloved when his solemn feature cracked, showing a bemused hint of a smile perching upon his lips. She has more titles than I do. He reflected as she followed the other hopefuls. As ever she was more than met the eye. Kazuto gave a slight applause, consigning himself to give a silent prayer for her victory to whatever deity would hear him, or for the very least for her to return to him unscathed. A sense of dejavu dawned on him as he had been in this situation before and bitter thoughts emerged, reminding him of how powerless he was in this situation.

Resignation settled with a sigh as he did his best to ignore the pain that still had not passed since he had seen his sister die. No, Miho wouldn't take unnecessary risks. She is headstrong but she's more prepared than I ever was for this. He quietly reminded himself and hoped that his faith would be repaid.

"Do you best, Miho."

He finally said in a hopeful whisper.

Akira was also one of the spectators among the massive arena in section B- for Nohime Ouritsu. Akira had not been able to see Yoshiko but fairly - it was a large stand of people. Unlike the other people, Akira was content to seat himself in the second row to the front and was here to see Ouritsu perform. It was a great opportunity to see and watch any upcoming talent and whomever was left would be left to peform - the others perhaps not passing.

"Oh come on..." Akira would watch him as he came through the maze, watching him through the various stages. It was watching a high stakes match; this was Ouritsu's future at stake. 'Come on.'

One by one they would come out and would watch. Akira was sat on the chair, arms crossed, watching almost resolute-ly. Looking around the schools of people, which, slightly difficult with the monitors around: nobody caught his eye. It was all too busy here and there were more civilians than shinobi who did not often get the chance to catch their abilities in daily life. But it was a busy stadium as well.

So, Akira was also in the crowd and cheering silently for the boy.

Midori had been here a week before the exams had kicked off, taking the opportunity to handle business with the Taki Lord, Lord Ryu, she was beginning to get used to the land. It was very different than Iwa’s dry terrain, the moisture in the air was the biggest difference, the jungles, it was all so foreign.

An arena sat in the village, the arena was packed with shinobi and villagers alike, all from varying nations. They all sat in almost unison, though it probably sat on the mind, there wasn’t any reason for hatred to be displayed to those from rivaling villages. They were all here to support their respective shinobi, the future of their village as they chased their dreams of becoming the finest shinobi they could possibly ever be.

From out of the entrance of section-B walked a brown haired woman with red markings below her eyes and a blue marking just above her brow. Her eyes scanned the crowd quickly, picking up a ton of familiar faces along the way. Even those whom she had saw at previous exams before. A sigh would exit her mouth as she began to make her way to her seat with her students. With her arms folded, she would take a seat on the first row. Her eyes watched carefully as Ouritsu chased his dreams.

"Let’s go Ouritsu..Show them the will of stone.”

The sage would say softly to herself, silently cheering the Nohime on.

First Exam Announcement!

All played contestants have made it out of the maze, there's a clear sign of discouragement though. Four monitors worth of people seem to be starting to funnel out of the buildings, it soon becomes clear that their champion had fallen to the first exam. Most likely chakra exhaustion, so there weren't screams or tears, but just a feeling their village might not of shown it's best colors this round.

Those watching the played contestants now get to feel the pride of those they're watching succeed. However surely pride and bets would start causing a slight ruckus. Konoha's shinobi coming out first, followed by Iwa's and almost at the same time Suna and Kumo's genin would emerge from the maze. Some hardly touched by the maze others definitely in a position of slight dismay. It'd seem the proctors would then bring Konoha and Suna's shinobi together, as well as Iwa's and Kumo's. Each brought to their own platform outside of any sort of building and right next to a massive tree.

The next exam would begin soon! Watch and see what happens.

a falling star fell from your heart.
It certainly had been touch and go since the group had entered the maze and watching from every screen that was presented, it was clearly a game of wits and testing the waters for many of them. Asahi was no exception, and with each of his turns, it felt as if Sunagakure was taking them with him. Arashi could only watch from the edge of her seat, seeing him progress through the labyrith and to that final blockade that had been left to hold off any advance.

But in the end, he had managed to come through. While not the first, it was still enough to see him press on to the next part of the exams and to continue forwards.

This was getting pretty intense, and she could only wonder what the next part of these tests would take them. All he had to do was get through it...she knew he could.

Yet, it was strange that she felt like she had so much at stake here..even more so than him. It wasn't as if she were the one taking these tests, but she felt as if she were trying to figure them out as much as the contestants. Arashi imagined that everyone in the crowd was doing the same.

But for Asahi, this was the most important step towards him becoming a Chunin. Something that he wanted more than anything. He had come so far without having a team or even a teacher to show him the way. Much like she did herself. It was as if he needed to prove it to himself now. That he could go to the next step. But then, why was she so worried?

Looking over as he had injured himself as a means to get through, at last, it was clear that he was hurt. Would that cause any problems for him going forward? Everyone else was in the same boat in some fashion, though what was the point of such a part in the test? To push them to the breaking point?

Asahi could do this...

It was something she had to remind herself

He could do this...He could anything if he put his mind to it...

No Remorse, No Fear!
Senju Kazuto Avatar
groupLeaf Shinobi
age 25 years old birthday 03/20 rank Jōnin occupation ANBU Captain

The seconds turned into minutes and the minutes became an eternity. A sense of fear crept onto his mind and grew stronger as the fear turned into dread and dread emerged as desperation and self doubt. During the training, they had not prepared for something as abstract like these. His ideas was to shake the rust of combat, to see how her combat abilities had evolved with the experience she had accumulated. The exams had changed quite a lot from the time he had taken them, it seemed. Kazuto had leaned against a wall, crossing his arms before his chest, his index finger tapping against the flesh of his forearm as he tried to be patient and just hope.

Standing without moving was just too difficult however. The weird sensation that this country gave him did no cease. And it only made him more unease to what he was without the added preoccupations of how Miho was faring in the labyrinth that the organizer of this exam had decided to put all the applicant Genin through. He didn't know what it was, but his beliefs that there was something fundamentally wrong with the Bonchi no Kuni was slowly being cemented by every second that he passed in the land.

When the murmurs of the crowd turned into cheers as the first participant exited the personal labyrinth that had been assigned to, the Senju would led out a sigh of relief at the sight of his beloved. His eyes focused on her, at the distance trying to find any signal of impairing wounds or other form of injuries. But of what he could see, was that she remained whole and more than ready to continue. The fact that she had come out first spoke even more of the endurance of her will and how far she would go to win. With that his own doubts were dispelled, as the second participant escaped his labyrinth.
