DESCRIPTION:

This jutsu requires an expertise in genetics that has yet to be fully realized by even the most skilled medics of the shinobi world; it specializes in altering clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR), which are the repeating DNA sequences that house the genes responsible for Kekkei Genkai and other physical traits. In short, through the use of this technique a shinobi can grant themselves a Kekkei Genkai, provided they have a usable DNA sample: blood, hair, bodily fluids, etc. This is done by splicing the Kekkei Genkai’s genes into each individual cell's bundle of DNA, which requires hours of focus, making this jutsu impossible to use during combat.

Awakening a bloodline or advancing a bloodline to a new stage causes minor changes to the DNA sequence, that ultimately limits this technique to granting the bloodline up to the level available to the person the DNA sample came from; so using this jutsu with a sample from a person with an unawakened bloodline trait would yield no immediately noticeable changes to the user, requiring them to awaken the bloodline in character. This means that the best candidates for this jutsu are either Kekkei Genkai that manifest early or obtaining a sample from stronger shinobi.

In addition, Kekkei genkai often compete for similar sections of the genetic sequence, making it impossible to obtain a dual bloodline using two DNA samples. In addition, attempting to utilize this jutsu when the user already has a Kekkei Genkai will cause the new DNA sample to overwrite the user’s old bloodline rendering any techniques they may have learned for that kekkei genkai worthless. Due to the amount of minute control required though, this jutsu cannot be used on someone else.
