PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT,

But she did, because there weren't that many shinobi who had both the time and the ability together to fight against Akira or aid him in his training, it usually was one or the other: both in short supply. So Akira was thankful for her aid in the matter.

But what she was telling him was nothing that he hadn't already heard. Those who fought against Akira once were bound to find it easier the second time, he just had to try as hard as he could himself to improve his other arts that gave him a fighting chance when Genjutsu didn't work.

Akira gave an amused 'heh.' It was the truth. It would matter a lot less when he was fighting ninja that didn't know his skillset and he could instantly finish a fight. But for those who was able to fight back made it significantly harder, and he had been on the blunt end of smoke bombs and ninja who hid. There was no end to them at all.

"I'm learning a technique to rid myself of that problem." he was looking out as he spoke, giving an assessment as best he could. But he did listen to the woman.

Just as before Akira would shake his head, agreeing with her. Takara didn't need to know. He took a breath in, closing his eyes and steeling over before "It's fine..." Akira looked down at his arms, feeling as though if he'd rubbed his skin too hard it would fall off. The reason he was hesitant to even bring it up was because he needed the control, needed the ability.

Even if he'd known, Midori's assertion that things were getting better was comfortable coming from a sage. Akira watched as the gorilla pattered back to Midori, perhaps even a bit weary of Akira himself? With good reason, of course.

He was a little surprised with her question. That wasn't something he felt was a big thing. "Well the easiest way I can explain the tails is how far I can open up a tap. More chakra means more water - I have control over how much it is opened. Less control means how easily I can shut the tap off. And how I can jump from nothing to something." That was how he'd made the argument convincing to himself, or if he needed to explain it to other people, as he'd always viewed the Bijuu. While it wasn't a great thing to be viewed as water or chakra, it was for the purpose of the allegory. He looked over Midori - almost better than she'd went in to the fight. "Didn't look like there was much damage in your hand, then."

Akira didn't know the fully extent, or power, that Sage mode was able to provide with Midori being his main sole source of understanding o the ability. Akira was still wondering about how he could better his relationship with the Bijuu, even if that made it easier between them it was also for his own peace of mind.

The sage leaned back as her arms propped herself up, her legs were outstretched as she tried to relax for a moment. Trying with a Jinchuriki was tough work, even for someone like her. But it was good to gauge her strength to a degree, albeit neither of the two were fighting with true intention to kill, but they were going all out good enough for one another to learn and better themselves. Iron sharpens iron so they say, and that was the case between the two.

Midori would share a chuckle along with Akira as he was amused at the fact that she said his genjutsu was a bit scary. She was sure he already knew that, but the woman wanted to tell him personally, she normally didn’t waver from the art, besides she had different ways of handling different situations, but she meant her words towards her student.

"Good.”

She would say as she sat up completely, a smile perched on her face, as she looked around and took in the amount of damage. The woman was glad that he was going to those measures to improve, the idea resided in her mind but she didn’t want to suggest it herself. She felt as if she would come off too mom-like and would be nagging him to use fuuton to disperse the smoke and what not.

As for the wound on his hand, Midori wouldn’t worry too much over it. He was fine, so he said, and the woman had every reason to believe him. What did get the woman’s attention however would be his explanation of his power going from one tail to another while skipping certain stages in between. It made a lot of sense actually, but she was extremely impressed by the feat. She wasn’t a Jinchuriki so she didn’t know if that was normal or not, but she herself felt as if it were a big deal.

"That makes sense..pretty cool if you ask me.”

She would muse as he brought up her well being. It appeared as if she were in better shape than when she started, and the truth was, she was much better. A chucked softly as she looked at her left arm that was being carried in a slingy during the fight, it was now completely healed.

"Oh this. Well..natural chakra gives me a pretty decent healing factor, so when I allowed the natural energy to blend with my chakra it allowed me to heal the damage that was taken. Nothing too complicated.”

She would explain with a sigh, but as she promised earlier she would help with the bijuu, and so their training was far from being over.

"So.”

She would start off quickly, her tone changing from joy, to seriousness.

"We still have some work to do, so….shall we?”

She would say as she turned her body towards Satori and extended both her hands out for him to grab.

PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT,

Akira nodded at the satisfied look she'd given towards his explanation. It had been understood, and it meant that he was getting better at expressing the ideas inside his mind. Or he'd just been coherent enough, or she was smart enough to simply understand.

Midori had also explained her sage mode: or rather, the benefit it provided her. Healing a damaged arm? Pretty cool. He wondered how much.

Well, that was unfair. Akira was fully pulling from the strings of hypocrisy in the benefits she got from her Sage Mode. Akira knew from experience the bare faced additions it gave to their natural abilities - but for simply... sitting there and gathering chakra? Damn. "Natural energy sounds strong." Akira would comment. He'd remembered Midori's stronger words on the subject, that it wasn't easy to use. But he was surprised when Midori offered out her hands, he took them without hesitation, but mildly confused as to why.

Akira was unsure of her exact antics but would take her hand. "What are we doing?" Akira would say, taking her lead on the subject. It depended on her touch and pull whether they were coming to a stand or if they would remain seated, just holding hands.

Keiko had actually done something similar, that she could hear and vaguely feel Kokuo speak when he was in the mindscape. It had been some time ago for that to technically count, but it served that Midori might've been able to do the same thing.

'Here we go, Kokuo. Bonding time.' He thought to himself.

No response.

Classic.

Midori would gently grab ahold of Akira’s hand as she rotated her body to face him completely, there was no need for the two to waste energy by standing up and walking to somewhere else, albeit that she would have rather started her training with Kokuo in a much more peaceful place, but perhaps their current environment could prove beneficial to showing the tailed beast of what Akira was capable of. The sage sighed softly as her brown eyes met with the sky blue eyes that the man wore.

"Well...We’re going to try to link chakra our chakra, and perhaps I could get a chance to have a look at what you’re dealing with.”

The woman would explain softly, following her words with a welcoming smile, to let Akira know that he didn’t have much to worry about. Jugo would circle around the two multiple times as he watched on, concerned as to why Midori wanted to come face to face with the beast itself. He eventually came to a stopping point, finding a seat perfectly in between the two shinobi as they held hands.

"Whenever you’re ready.”

She would say as she rested her eyes and focused on the foreign chakra that she would be greeted with, and in an instance she found herself in a strange land, a strange feeling as if she were being overlooked by a massive being, the chakra was heavy, and for a moment it sent chills down her spine, but she didn’t show the fear to the bijuu itself. She looked around for a moment as she stepped further into the mindscape.

"Kokuo?”

The sage would call out as she awaited a response, her voice echoing throughout the strange lands.

Satori Akira

"I understand Midori-sama." Akira was fine with all of this, this was what she was here for and if there was anyone who might be able to understand, it would be a Sage who was attuned to nature: and what other things were these beings?

So, that was where they were going with this? Akira nodded slowly - and closed his eyes, meditating, feeling and summoning the chakra in his body - and reaching out to hers. Now, if he had the true sense to feel it out and describe how he felt it, it would've been akin to reaching out to a green, healing chakra, soothing to his soul - physically, it brought calm to him as he felt the intimate moment of them connecting together through chakra. But still, nonetheless she herself would feel the over weighing power, and vastness of the chakra itself - now not contained by Akira's body, dredging down into the true potential it held, and it was bigger than even Akira could realise.

She called out, and it was in a much deeper manner than what Akira was used to. It was like she had spoken inside his soul, all telepathic-like. Akira could do one better than that, and if they were truly connected, she would even find her mind swaying, her senses closing down as she felt the pull from Akira, dragging her into the mindscape and provided she didn't pull back, she would find herself gone as well. .

For Akira who had seen it plenty of times, it didn't seem much more different than before - age, eon old buildings stretching alongside a horizon, they stood near a pool, and in their immediate view a mausoleum, pillars stretching wide and far, far larger than Midori and Akira themselves. "Welcome." Akira would say, crossing his arms, looking at her.

"I have no idea how you managed to get in here, I'm going to guess is your Sage training... but this is the mindscape, the seal, where Kokuo is found. He's inside the pillars." he pointed for her to see. To their right, a building: Akira had visited - everything about this place was ages old, in languages that he could not understand. It was likely inscribed knowledge, or a part of Kokuo's being in this world.

Only when Midori took the plunge, moving up the steps to the peak of them, past the pillars, would she see a set of blue eyes open wide staring into her soul - but only until then would it speak. "Sage..." it whispered, only, its voice was wholly incapable and so it came out as naturally sounding as he could form.

"Good.”

The lady would reply to Akira’s understanding, and with that the second part of their training would commence. The moment that their chakra synchronized perfectly with one another, Midori found herself in what seemed like a void. It was dark, with very little light to guide the sage to where she needed to be. Her voice sought out the Bijuu as she spoke his name, but to no prevail. Did it work? She would question a doubt herself, the absurdly powerful chakra was putting pressure on the sage as she looked around in the void. Her outer body would be visibly distraught and uncomfortable as she pushed through the immense pressure of what felt like sinister energy.

As she took a step closer inside the blank space, a pale hand reached seemingly reached out and pull her into the light. She was confused for a moment, but seeing Akira’s face would make her feel a bit more relaxed. A smirk grew on her face as she looked over the man.

"Thanks.”

The sage would say as her eyes scanned the area. It was different than what she was expecting, the buildings were gigantic, and it seemed a bit more peaceful than what the woman had envisioned the day before. It helped to put her nerves at ease, although it seemed rather dark. What seemed to be ancient writings were carved into the walls and pillars, each of which seemed to tell a different story of people from the past, and the way they lived their day to day lives. It was much different than anything Midori had ever seen, and it was truly astonishing for her to see it for the first time.

"Has no one else seen this before?”

She would ask before she took one final glance over the area before making her way towards the stairs. The sounds of her shoes clicking and clicking as she walked up the stairs would be prominent as it echoed throughout the ravine. With each step the woman took, each stair she went up, the chakra would get heavier and heavier. For most shinobi, the pressure would cause them to lose themselves and fold underneath the pressure, but Midori simply fought back the immense pressure she felt as she drew closer to the pillars that were off to the left. Once she stood before the pillars, a voice would call out to her. Her left hand hesitantly raised and traced one of the pillars.

"Kokuo.”

She would reply softly with a powerful, yet peaceful tone as her gaze looked up at the monster that towered over her, even as he lay on the ground to be closer to eye level with the woman.

"It is my honor to be before you for the first time, formally. You have great power that puts my own to shame.”

Midori would say to be kind of flattering before jumping into the reason why she was in his space. It seemed more respectful to do so than to rush towards what she wanted. Perhaps he would be accepting of the words she had to say.

Satori Akira

While Akira didn't find it amazing, he appreciated the wonder that the Sage would have upon seeing it - it had been very similar for the Jinchuuriki himself, and a small smile came to his face as he watched Midori. She would be able to spend as much time in here as she liked.

"No, you're the first." Akira didn't even know how he'd done it in the first place, let alone replicating it for other people. But he answered her quickly and clearly as she looked around, able to move: do everything. It wasn't a dream, and it was certainly real.

Though, her experience was becoming rapidly different - he'd never felt such a presence before when ascending the stairs. He simply couldn't feel what she was talking about, though anything it had been before might've been nervousness. But never pressure, but he ambled alongside her as she ascended, tracing around the pillars.

Akira found himself too, staring into the blue eyes, exactly like his own - of Kokuo. Midori seemed powerful, and in her element as she was standing aside Akira. Kokuo, on the other hand was less impressed at the woman. But he liked her more than Akira.

Rather than rising to the flattery, Kokuo simply stared, didn't respond. It was a poor attempt, so he thought- for the woman to try and gain his favor and he didn't like it in the slightest, even more so, expected more from the woman than what Akira provided him. "This is my life." Akira shook his head softly. 'Welcome welcome, Midori.' He thought to himself. "But it's quiet." He would tack on.

The response from Kokuo, or the lack there of, was more or less expected from the sage as she spoke of his great power. His chakra was pure destructive force that could tear nations apart, she would be lying if she said otherwise. Did she have ways of combating him? Well yeah, but her power was nowhere near as intense as his. The flattery was more so to show respect as she was a guest in a foreign land that Kokuo inhabited. The words the Akira spoke weighed on the woman’s mind for a moment. So this is what he had to deal with every second of every day?

Midori would not offer much of a response to Akira herself, other than a sigh that was directed at both him and Kokuo. Nobody said it would be easy, but things were going entirely different than what she had thought before, which sort of had to do with the worse case scenario, just in case she would know how she should proceed if the need arises. The woman stepped forward a bit closer to Kokuo.

"Well, Kokuo-Sama, I have a quick question that I would like to ask, if I may.”

The woman would ask as she folded her arms across one another. Taking a moment in between, silence would reign over the three souls that stood amongst one another.

"I see that you are a … reserved soul, but can you tell me why you choose not to acknowledge my subordinate, Satori Akira? Even after being together for all these years.”

The woman would ask respectfully. From the response that was provided to the sage moments prior, Midori could tell that Kokuo was different than what his chakra gave off. He was humble? More passive than what she was expecting for sure. The beast had a taciturn personality, and seemed quite respectful, Midori couldn’t fault him for being such a way. The question may seem like a no brainer as to why he didn’t want to acknowledge or even speak to Akira, because he was caged inside of the man like some wild animal. But Midori sought out a deeper explanation, there had to be .. something more.

Satori Akira

She was trying very hard to act as the avatar and the bridge between Akira and him. But she posed an interesting question, but it was an answer that Akira himself had heard before. So many times that he'd tried to interact: and so many times to be responded with, with silence. Akira already knew the reason, and Kokuo would say it one more time. His focus was on Midori, eyes several times larger than her own body staring him down. Few jabs of praise and good will would make Kokuo want to talk any more, but there was something else to be gained here - it hadn't been heard in truth by another human, from his own mouth.

So he would speak.

Akira had kept his arms crossed with good reason, bad mouthing him in front of Midori. "His anger is unbridled, purer than most humans I've encountered: perhaps even more so than my own. But without control. Until he can control himself, he is not worthy."

His head lightly turned: he didn't need to very much with his size, and his giant impression on what was his domain, what little of it. "And chanelled incorrectly, the path he's on now, he will be one more Kouen, no more just, and no more effective." Kokuo was speaking directly to Akira. The man felt naked under his gaze with his penetrative, yet still glare. Akira would look between Midori and Kokuo, keeping his mouth shut and becoming unnerved by the beast's unwavering stare at the two of them.

Akira would allow the woman her turn to talk, Akira had already had years over her with the subject - and so would walk, creating some distance with her and him, on to the pillar opposite her, leaning against it and sulking, quiet, angry with the thoughts. "Even now, he proves my point." He was looking at Akira from his opposite eye, but his focus was primarily on Midori now.

Midori stood with her arms folded as she awaited a response from Kokuo himself. She didn’t know much about the relationship the two had other than what Akira himself provided to her. Which more so confirmed to be true as the woman finally came face to face with the beast for the first time. His quietness seemed prominent, so perhaps it was more than difficult for Akira himself to try to speak to the biju.

Kokuo began to answer. Speaking his words of wisdom as to why he chose not to acknowledge the man, talking directly to Midori, it was obvious that there was a disconnect between the two. The sage rested her eyes as she gathered a deep breath before sighing away the stress. Kokuo had a point, in which anger was a plague and often drove people to do things that many others wouldn’t do. The reference to Kouen reminded the woman of what it was like back in that time. Her brown eyes remained on the biju as he spoke, and as Akira wandered off a bit, Midori’s eyes would then follow him for a brief moment before returning to Kokuo. ’So that’s the reason, huh?’ The lady would think to herself.

"You..speak so negatively of my student, it wounds me…”

The woman would say before taking a moment to choose her words carefully. There was no doubt that Akira was listening along.

"Yet..you are far from being wrong. Hate cages the good things about a person, and leads them down the wrong path.”

Midori would state as she lowered her head slightly. The sage knew the devasty and destruction that could be had when anger was unleashed on the world. Although she felt as if Akira was far from harboring pure hatred, there was no way for her to say otherwise. Kokuo knew him better than she did, and would more than likely always know better than Midori herself.

"But every ounce of hatred has its source.”

The woman would say as she nodded her head slightly, her gaze shifting over to Akira for a brief second before returning to Kokuo, a tired look on her face as she spoke.

"You say that his hatred is pure and might even outweigh your own. If I may ask...what is your source of hatred? What causes you to feel such negative emotions?”

Midori would ask.

Akira had his own stare going on, eyeing up the Bijuu - far more different from the chat he'd had with him earlier in the day. It was all different now there was somebody else to listen. 'Faaaantastic.' he sarcastically thought as he watched blankly from the side.

Though, his worry did make him continue to watch Midori for any sign of her having truth in his words, for the hurtful response, or how she might turn on him. It did not come. Kokuo didn't care if he spoke negatively of her student. Truth was truth. But even so, she would choose to share in the good things about him: outlining them that Shinobi were capable of evil, or the bad things.

"I-ore share all of Akira's senses. Every feeling... Every indulging moment, every urge or desire. I-ore know the difference between what is a passing thought, and what is him making decisions." Kokuo provided context, without respite.

It shook its head slowly, wind blowing past them, the shifting and rustling of its fur as it moved. "I think you know, Sage..." it would be quiet, to see if she would get it. But if she didn't, or she waited for him to speak - he would give the answer. "Humanity, in all its forms, has brought more detriment to the world than when they were without it." The Sage would hopefully understand that sentiment.

"And yet, at the same time, you sit and comment about how entertaining my life is, serving some purpose for you." Akira would interject, knowing that the bijuu had his own thoughts and feelings. "He's asked me to read books for him, do certain things. Keep him entertained, his mind sharp. He said he would run if he had the chance, never return to humanity ever again." Akira would speak over to Midori, a face a lot darker, sour from the conversation unfolding.

"I-ore was alive long before you, and I-ore will continue to be alive long after you. The difference between what I-ore would do with my hatred, and what you would do with yours: I-ore would resolve it with solutide, you would have it crushed." Akira shook his head, always having something to say.

But how much of it was true?

Midori nodded her head as she listened to Kokuo explain that whatever Akira himself felt, could be felt by him as well. The same thoughts, feelings, everything about the two of them were linked. The sage found it baffling that even with that, the knowledge of one another, even though that felt what each other was feeling, they had yet to find themselves on common ground. Usually the more time spent with someone the more compatible they become with each other, but that did not seem to be the case here. A gentle sigh escaped from the lady’s lips as dark brown hues shifted and her gaze rested on Akira for a brief moment. Kokuo shifted his head, causing a small breeze to pass the two, Midori’s hair shifted in the wind as the beast provided his answer.

"Of course…”

The woman would think to herself. Of course she knew, matter of fact it was actually quite difficult to ignore. The source of his hatred came from humans, and he couldn’t be blamed. Humans are a huge cause of all evil on earth, and while there were a handful of good ones, it becomes easier and easier to overlook them as time goes on since the evil outweighs the good. Midori shrugged her shoulders and sighed internally, and as she went to answer the statement of Kokuo, she was interrupted. It seemed as if Akira had something to get off his chest.

She listened on as the argument unfolded. He had asked Akira to read to him, and even showed his own personal feelings and desires. Brown gaze fell upon Akira, his demeanor was sour, it was clear he wasn’t happy with the conversation at hand. Midori listened to both parties and tried her hardest not to seem biased or one sided. She agreed with Kokuo, but she felt as if Akira’s hatred wasn’t as pure as he made it out to seem. Turning slightly, she faced the caged beast.

"Kokuo-sama, you are indeed correct, but we are nothing more than humans, we are not perfect under any scope. However, we can work to get better, and Akira is one of the hardest workers I’ve ever known.”

The woman would explain before slowly turning back to face her comrade.

"Akira-san. What he is saying may not be new to you, but I ask you to delve deeper into his words, and try to truly fight off all negative thoughts and actions. If hatred really is the cause then I will help you get rid of it.”

She would sigh softly before her gaze returned to Kokuo.

"Other than hatred is there anything else?..I just want to know why you’ve been ignoring him. You’ve communicated with him in the past, correct? Why shield yourself off and ignore him so suddenly?”

Midori would ask.

Satori Akira

The beast didn't seem perturbed by the Sage's sigh, or the following words that guided it. His gaze uninterrupted by the other two: like he had been born in this position and was comfortable in it. But still a prisoner nonetheless.

"Akira is one of the hardest working people I've known. But he runs the eternal treadmill. He arrives at the goal he yearns for, and then it becomes not enough. His undoing."

When Midori had turned to Akira, Akira would break his gaze against Kokuo, his face was turned into a nasty one, of anger much like how Kokuo had described, but it faded under Midori's gaze to a blank faced one - for the one who didn't want to listen. "For an old being, he's also a fool." Akira wanted to do better, he wanted to do right: but with someone so hard to take him down, he wasn't being receptive to the feedback.

But Kokuo had responses for the Sage: who believed it was out of choice. This was true. Partially. "This is not new. My solitude is my own." The Bijuu had always been comfortable in its own silence: the hermit of the nine. His stubbornness, was greatest of the other Bijuu. In some ways, was like Akira himself. Kokuō hadn't begun ignoring Akira, it had always been so.

But things were apparently getting better, or at least Kokuo was admitting it to someone who wasn't Akira. "I do not blame him for his own actions, he is a Scorpion." Everybody knew of the tale between the Frog and the Scorpion, and Akira only lightly groaned.

Midori folded her arms across her chest, her right hand resting below her chin as she continued to listen to the words of Kokuo. His words were wise, and he was answering the sage fairly well, but it seemed as if they were getting nowhere fast. For the most part it looked as if Akira already knew of this, the reason why the tailed beast often ignored him and remained to himself in his own comfort of solitude. But perhaps hearing him explain it to another being would help Akira understand a bit better, not only the situation but Kokuo himself. If hatred was the only reason, then surely it can be dealt with, although it would take time.

The only way the two of them could bond would be if they communicated with one another, but with his solitude, Midori figured doing so was easier said than done. She thought deeply, her eyes rested as she took in a deep breath. How should I go about this situation? The sage would question herself. It was like listening to two siblings argue with one another, each had a side which was different than the other’s.

"It may be in your nature to be quiet, humble, and confined to your own self. But communication is important especially in a relationship such as this one. It also requires trust, and the two of you being on the same page.”

The woman would start, her voice calm as her brown eyes met with Kokuo’s. What she said was true, but did she expect it to be that easy? Not at all.

"Akira is still young, a child even. And No one is perfect. You may not want to acknowledge him as of now, or maybe even years from now, but all that I ask is that you please give him time to mature into the shinobi that you know he can become. It won’t happen overnight, but as you said, he is the hardest worker you’ve known, … and the hardest worker I’ve known as well.”

Midori would add on. She wasn’t sure how to get through directly to Kokuo, so all that she could ask of him was to give him a chance.

Satori Akira

Finally, they were getting somewhere. Kokuo was attacking at Akira's core values and who he was as a person, Midori was highlighting his issues as well. It would be good for him to get a taste of his own medicine. Kokuo kept his gaze on the Sage accepting what she had to say about the subject and her view on it. Though, she wouldn't know everything that went on in their mind.

Akira agreed with the woman, and came back to stand by her. Watching the beast himself. Communication was important. He'd tried it on so many occasions but he couldn't force Kokuo to respond. For such free communication allowed between their seals, very little of it had actually taken place.

The Jinchuuriki sighed. "Yes. I am still a child, in comparison to our world, you've lived a lot longer. I must seem like it." There was something he'd have to conceed: only because Kokuo would have one thing that Akira didn't. That was perspective. Kokuo seemed happy for Akira to recognise this - and nodded. Again, a gust of wind flew by them.

But it did appear that it was taking their words into consideration, because Kokuo would merely stay silent, thinking of what it might've wanted to say to either of them. "...Fine." He responded. Beyond being a beast of supreme chakra, it didn't mean that he was able to tell the future: though he could guess Akira's actions and course of how he would turn out, he wouldn't dismiss him. For now.

There would come a time when that path would be faced, and if Akira went down the wrong one: that would be it, forever. But for now, the beast would give Akira the benefit of the doubt, and the benefit of not being omniscient. But there was something that Kokuo didn't want to acknowledge. He didn't need to say it directly but his empty stare and lack of response said it all: "I don't want to." it said.

But that was something that Akira could work with nonetheless.

"That's likely all you're going to get from him, now." Akira recognised the silent treatment when he saw it. He was happy to cut it there: even if it was partly due to how he had been insulted by him.
