The pre-dawn dew had slowly began to burn off in the morning sun, where there was mostly darkness it had mostly been replaced by the light of the fledgling day's sun. A conversation between comrades had shifted into the opportunity to sharpen steel against steel and, hopefully, improve their skills enough to help them both be able to follow through on their respective promises to protect those they cared for. It wasn't how the chunin was expecting to start his day but being able to break up the monotony of daily shinobi tasks wasn't something that Shikajin would be upset about.

He found himself standing a few meters away from Yusuke, on the other side of the clearing that was once his secret little spot to clear his head but now... an impromptu training ground. A deep breath and exhale would precede dark hues locking onto the Sarutobi. It was to be a test of who could catch who first, the acrobat or the shadow user, the latter being designed for such things but going up against one so agile could prove to be a bit of an issue. No matter, Shikajin was confident in he and his clans abilities and even though he wasn't a front liner in terms of combat prowess the man knew how to protect himself. Medics being vital members to any teams warranted sufficient training and knowledge to keep themselves alive so more often than not they weren't the helpless lambs some thought them to be.

"First move is yours." The Nara would speak as he readied himself for an incoming assault. The element of surprise was more or less lost given that Yusuke knew about his abilities but all was not lost, in fact him being a little more wary of the shadows --if that ended up being the case-- would work in the chunins favor.
