The day was young and to be fair Kazui wished it was close to ending already. There wasn’t much going on for the day and it was overall boring as hell. No training, no new books that she wanted to read, and once again she found herself all alone. At this point the girl even considered going to look for Yurako...at least with her she wouldn’t be as bored as she was now.

The Uchiha quickly propped herself up into a seated position as she thought. ’Hmm...I haven’t talked to her in a while since she showed me her parents.’ The young girl would think to herself as she placed a hand gently beneath her chin. She felt bad for Yurako but...at the same time she felt bad for herself. She knew the girl’s pain having lost everyone around her. Quickly Kazui began to shake her head, trying to clear her mind from the thoughts that were beginning to plague her mind and cloud her judgment. A sigh escaped from her lips as she flopped back onto her back, the grass crunching beneath as she did so. But once again soon after, the thoughts returned.

’I was such an asshole to Yurako for no reason.’ The young Uchiha would think to herself as she propped herself up yet again, another sigh escaping her lips as she looked up towards the clouds.

"I wonder if she’s been on any missions lately.”

Kazui would mumble to herself as she slowly began to push herself up from the ground and onto her feet. Her hands brushing away the dirt and blades of grass that might’ve been stuck to her shorts or what not. The wind began to blow gently as it carried the girl’s rather long black hair with it. The bushes rustled and the small trees that were in the surrounding area began to sway slightly from right to left and back again.

The girl stood around for a brief second before she began to check her pouches for things that could keep her occupied. As she shuffled through the pouch she saw a white piece of paper folded neatly, and once she grabbed it and opened the paper she saw that it was her registration for the upcoming chuunin exams. A sigh escaped her lips before she realized that she really wanted to take this exam.

As quickly as she remembered that, the girl also remembered what her guardian, Hiruko, told her not too long ago. She needed to sharpen up on her shurikenjutsu, besides it was pretty much a clan speciality. What kind of Uchiha didn’t know how to wield shuriken? Kazui would release a groan because she knew that Hiruko was right, but at the same time she felt as if she knew everything there was needed to be known about that particular art.

"I guess I’ll freshen up on it...that never hurt anyone.”

The girl would say to herself as she began to dig inside the pouch that rested on the small of her back, there were a few loose Shuriken that she would grab and begin to spin around her index finger. One by one the girl would begin to hurl the shuriken towards a wooden dummy that sat in the middle of the vacant field, each one hitting its target precisely.

"This stuff never works.”

She would mumble to herself as she threw the final shuriken, curving it at an angle to where it hit the wooden dummy on top of the head. She felt as if she knew it all already.

The girl would say as she slowly fell back onto her back and began to stare up towards the clouds above. ’This sucks. Hmmm. The girl would begin to think deeper and deeper until she remembered the first time she fought her mentor. "Be more deceiving!”

Especially against stronger opponents. But in this case she just needed to be clever, something that could catch her opponents off guard..if even for a split second. That’s all it would take, at least that’s what she thought. The girl would quickly prop herself up as she dug through her pouch yet again.

She would muse to herself for a moment as she inspected the two shuriken that she held in her hand.

How could she possibly use them to deceive her opponent while maximizing the lethality of the blades? Well there were a few ways she could go about it. The girl continued to inspect the shuriken as she brainstormed different ways she could use them to deceive her opponents.

"Hmm I could throw them rapidly one after another..I suppose but what’s stopping them deflecting them all?”

She would ask herself quietly as she continued to look over the shuriken. Kazui would shrug her shoulders slightly before hurling yet another shuriken towards the wooden dummy, but this time she saw something that made her think deeper than she had before. Something caught her attention and she needed to see it once again.

"Wait a second.”

The girl would say curiously before she would throw another shuriken. This time she paid even more attention to not only the blade, but the velocity, the angle, and the shadow it created. She studied everything about it, as much as she possibly could within those few seconds that the ninja tool was in flight, and once the metal collided with the wooden dummy, a thump could be heard and Kazui finally managed to come up with an idea that seemed to be much more deceptive than any idea she had earlier.

The girl would say happily as she ran to collect the few shuriken that she had lodged into the wooden dummy. Pulling each blade out one by one, she would jog back to her original spot before throwing one back towards the dummy. Then she watched the ninja travel again before coming up with a solid idea that could be pretty beneficial to her if she managed to pull it off correctly.

"What if I hide one of these blades in the original blade's shadow??”

She would ask herself softly, her hand began to rub her chin as she thought. ‘Could that even work?’ It seemed complicated and stupid but there was much else she could think of that would make a simple shuriken be deceiving even in the slightest of manners. She began to have doubts even more so because the idea was so simple, it didn’t seem complexed in the slightest, but there was only one way to truly tell if her idea was a good one or not, and that would be testing it out. Of course the outcome may change when up against an actual shinobi but for now the wooden dummy would be the test subject.

The girl would say in a nonchalant tone before slinging the two shuriken together yet with a delay between them. The blades began cutting through the wind and traveling at extreme speeds, but the one beneath the first shuriken just didn’t line up correctly with the shadow of the first one.

"Damn it!”

The girl would mumble underneath her breath as she jumped up and down in frustration, it seemed like such a good idea but her execution was just terrible, she would need to throw the ninja tools perfectly one after another to truly see if her idea would work or not. A sigh escaped her lips as she took a deep breath in and a deep exhale. ‘Stay calm.’ She would think to herself as her eyes remained on the target before her. The girl often allowed her frustrations to get the best of her, which wasn’t good for her progress. It only really slowed her down which often brought along more frustration and an even bigger delay in her training. It was like a never ending cycle, a spiral out of control until she finally burned herself out.

Kazui would tell herself softly as she juggled the remaining shuriken she had left in her possession in one hand. Okay, her execution would have to be flawless if this was going to work. The previous time she released the second shuriken too late, perhaps this time she should try letting it go a bit faster, hopefully then it will line up with the first shuriken’s shadow and maybe just maybe it’ll be enough to confuse the enemy.

"Okay.”

The girl would say as she closed her eyes and drew in a deep breath through her nose and a slow exhale through her mouth. She needed to be as close to perfection as she possibly could or else she would just be wasting her own time. ‘Let’s try to wrap this up as quickly as possible.’ She would think to herself before opening her eyes, her gaze resting on the wooden dummy that stood only a few meters away from her as she released the two shuriken nearly at the same time.

The two shuriken proceeded to cut through the wind as they homed in towards their intended target. The following shuriken proceeded to fall in line with the first, and much to her surprise she managed to time it perfectly. The second blade seemed to have disappeared but in reality it was disguising itself as the first blade’s shadow. A smile would grow on the Uchiha’s face as she watched the two shuriken collide with the practice dummy almost simultaneously. Two thuds could be heard as the metal dug its way into the wood.

"Sweet…”

Kazui would say softly as she jogged over to collect the few ninja tools that she had thrown just now and earlier, pulling the blades from the wood and placing them back into her pouch where they belonged. The girl released a breath of happiness, a sense of accomplishment soon began to overcome her but there was something else that she needed to figure out.

‘Yeah that’s a great technique and all but...how can I make it a bit more lethal?’ The girl would think to herself as she began to ponder more and more. There were w few ways the girl could go about it but.

A voice would call out from the distance that quickly grabbed the attention of the young Uchiha. The girl quickly began to gather her things and what not and place them back into her pouch. The voice seemed familiar. Perhaps it was one of the elders of the Uchiha clan coming to collect the girl to go attend one of those boring meetings again.

"O-One moment!”

The girl would say softly as she quickly gathered her things and began to jog in the direction the voice had come from. Shoot, she was just beginning to find different uses for shuriken, but maybe that was enough for the day, besides she didn’t want to spend her entire day working on shurikenjutsu anyway.

Once the girl turned the corner she saw two older Uchiha standing before her, their high collared robes gave it away before anything else.

"The clan is gathering.”

One of the men would say gently. Kazui would nod her head and follow the two towards the meeting. The trip there was relatively silent. Neither one of them said anything to each other nor did Kazui find the need to speak as well until a few minutes passed.

The girl would say in hopes of receiving praise from her fellow clan members. But instead she was met with silence as they all continued towards their meeting area. ‘Well it was worth a shot.’ The girl thought to herself. She was more or less expecting that exact reaction from them. It was almost as if they didn’t care, and for a moment she was sure that they actually didn’t.

The young Uchiha released a sigh as she shrugged her shoulders and lowered her head, her eyes averted towards the grass beneath her as she continued to walk behind the two other Uchiha. There wasn’t much of a reason to be upset that they didn’t give her the attention her mentor normally did, but the girl was sure that Hiruko would be very happy with her hard work, whenever she saw the woman again that was. She understood that as the Hanchou, Hiruko was a very busy person so she wasn’t too upset that she wasn’t around as much.

As the girl continued to walk she would kick the dirt and rocks beneath her feet with each step she took, as boring as these meetings usually were, she was actually beginning to like being a part of them.
