It was a rather decent as far as the weather was, and even though Daichi could have simply made something to eat at home, he figured that spending some of his money wouldn't be all too bad would it? And so, with that thought in mind, the leaf shinobi headed out to go grab a bite to eat. He had a set time period though before he would be getting back to work though, so he had to make up his mind exactly as to where he would go sit and eat. He walked while looking around deciding on where he should eat when he had seen that YukiNiku Q wasn't all too busy, which was a very rare occurrence. The Chunin quickly pulled out his wallet and decided to take a look at how much exactly he had.

When he confirmed that he had enough at least to buy a small meal from there, the young man quickly put his wallet away and had begun to walk inside. Hello, and welcome to YukiNiku Q! Please, follow me and I'll show you to your table," The female waitress had said. Daichi bowed his head as a means of respect, following her to his table soon after she had grabbed a menu for him. The waitress had patiently waited for Daichi to sit and had then begun to speak once more. "Alright, settled in I hope? Would you perhaps like a cup of our finest green tea while you look at the menu?" She had asked politely. Daichi, with a quick smile said, "Yes, please! Thank you," He said with another small bow of his head, and with that, the female waitress had left to go make his tea.

The Chunin quickly scanned the menu while looking for something that he could reasonably afford while also making sure it was actually something that would make him full as well. There were quite a few Shinobi who would come hear to eat and to be quite frank, this was actually his first time eating here. "Huh, everything seems quite good. I kind of wish I had someone with me who knows about their menu," Daichi had finished saying with a sigh as he had continued to eye the menu from top to bottom, page by page.

ANBU missions were often a nasty business. He knew it well, after all he had being ANBU Captain for some time, he had been leading the members of his ANBU with courage and honor, he had placed pragmatism in the front of his style and he had done so in an adept manner. Although more often than not missions were longer than expected. That was becoming the norm lately and as much as he wished to be done with the affairs that were of a highly sensitive nature, he understood that such was not always possible. This past time had been one of those situations and as much as he had wanted the mission to go faster, but rather it had simply gone at the pace that it required to fulfill all objectives.

Miho would understand however. She always did and she was patient with him every time that a mission would take longer, but still he felt it was a bad idea to return home without a form of gift to ask for a forgiveness that he really didn't need to ask. As he walked around the byways of the village, he stopped outside a barbacue type restaurant, perhaps something to share with his fiance would be good enough for them to catch up. As he stepped inside he saw some faced that he recognized immediately and others that were unknown to him. "Hello, and welcome to YukiNiku Q! Please, follow me and I'll show you to your table." A young woman whom he assumed was a waiter.

"Actually." He said, raising his hand to get her attention, the woman turning to meet her. "I was hoping to buy something to take out." He said in an apologetic tone. The woman looked around, noting that every stool was occupied and there were enough people waiting for food to take out already. She would then look back at him with an equally apologetic look before she spoke. "It might be a long wait, I would like to offer you where to sit, but there's no place unless you wish to sit with someone else whilst you wait."

Kazuto felt reluctant to take that offer, he could simply go elsewhere, but this restaurant was close to home already and as his body had tired he felt it better to simply comply. But he simply nodded and followed the woman until they reached a table occupied by a man, perhaps a few years younger than him. "Excuse me sir, but we're busy and we don't have a place to put everyone, would you mind if he sits with you whilst we get his food ready? As a treat will give you steamed rice and drinks on the house." The waitress offered before the man could comply.

Daichi had still been pondering the menu when all of a sudden, another waitress accompanied by a man had stopped by his table. Just as she had stopped and spoken to the young Hatake, Daichi simply smiled and said, "I wouldn't mind at all!" Daichi had said quickly. "And thank you!," He said, giving her thanks for the free beverages and the steamed rice. The waitress bowed, saying her thanks. She had then directed her attention back to the other gentleman.

"I do apologize for the wait, sir, but hopefully, we will have your food made for you very soon!" After that, she quickly left the two gentlemen to themselves, going to have the new order ready to be notified by the chefs in the back since it was for to go. Daichi had then begun to decide to speak to the gentleman who was sitting on the opposite side of him. "It's nice to meet you, by the way! I am Daichi Hatake. It's nice to meet you, sir." Daichi said, showing his kindness.

"Do you get food from here a lot by chance? The reason I ask is that this is honestly my first time here. Do you have any suggestions on the menu I should try?" Daichi had asked him. Even though he wasn't sure if the man knew anything better than he did about the restaurant's dinner choices, Daichi figured he'd give it a shot in the dark and see if the man had any suggestions that Daichi should try.

The Senju felt as if he would have preferred to stand than bother someone else who was probably in the midst of his own meal. But before any objections could be brought, the waitress had already left to attend another customer. Left with little option the Senju would simply sit and look at the man unsure of what to make of him and he would simply flick at the menu as he thought if there was anything else that he would order before the man would speak to him presenting himself as Daichi and a Hatake as well. That clan was relatively rare, although it produced a good quantity of shinobi they weren't as common as the Nara or the Akimichi, well at least not in his own personal experience.

"I'm Kazuto." The Senju said, deciding not to give his last name as he more often than not did. He supposed that his given name would suffice and he was certain that if the man saw the emblem that was displayed on his back and hidden by his hair he would put information together to summarize who he was, although anonymity was preferred to him at the moment. As the next question came he looked around. He had been here before, and he had experienced a good time but he could not honestly say that it was a place that he had being once or twice, but it hasn't been as filled with people as it was right now. Still the idea had being for him to come and just get some food.

"Hmmm... I've been here... once or twice I think." He explained with a shrug. If he were to guide himself by the scents of the food being cooked and consumed, then he was certain that there was good enough for anyone to eat and order. "I'm afraid I can't help you, although I did order marinates pork and beef to share with my fiance." He explained.

Daichi had not seemed bothered by the man seeming to not talk all too much. He honestly respected people who were a lot more reserved in all honesty and tried to not pressure people who were like that into talking. Nonetheless, Kazuto seemed okay with Daichi making small talk, despite his reserved nature. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Kazuto." Daichi said. Soon after, the waitress that sat Daichi down had come back with Daichi's tea as well as a bowl of rice for him to have.

"Here is the tea for ya, and also your rice. This won't be charged on your bill once you finished either! Is there anything you liked on the menu?" She asked, readying her pen and a small notebook to write down the Hatake's order. Daichi had definitely given it some thought. In fact, Kazuto said that he couldn't help in that regard, but in fact, he actually did. Normally, Daichi would eat fish over pork and other meats, but honestly, It did sound promising.

"Yes, I would like to have a batch of your pork and beef marinates please!" Daichi said. With a smile on the waitress's face, she quickly scribbled it down and asked him if that would be all for him. "Yes, please! Thank you!" He said, making sure to give her his thanks. She then quickly spoke to Kazuto about his wait. "And you're the gentleman waiting on the order to go, correct? I really do apologize for your wait, but we should have your food and cooked and ready for you hopefully soon! Is there anything you'd like for a drink while you wait?" She had asked him.

"It's nice to meet you too, Daichi." Kazuto would reply unsure if he actually echoed the sentiment. It was always good to get to know people of his own village as well as individuals from other clans but besides his name and the little he knew about the disposition of the man he knew very little about Daichi. When the waitress came and Daichi would order his food she would then turn to him and ask if he wanted something to drink as he awaited for his order and he would nod. "Tea would be fine." He would reply to the woman, allowing her to write down his request before she thanked him for his patience and he would give her a respectful nod in turn.

"Thank you." Kazuto would add as the woman would return with the tea. Quietly he would take a sip and sample the flavor and quality of the tea. It was good, not the greatest he had ever tasted but then again he couldn't call himself the greatest connoisseur of tea in the world, but he was competent enough to enjoy the little pleasure of life in the form of the beverage. As he took his gaze from the tea and would look at the Hatake. Small talk wasn't something he was necessarily the best at. He coughed as he placed the tea cup on the table.

"So, what you do in the village?" He asked, he supposed that it was for the best that he could think to break the ice. Of course that also meant that he would have to disclose some information about himself. He supposed that just telling him that he was a Jonin would suffice, he didn't know Daichi so he had to assume that he was at the most a Chunin or Special Jonin.

Daichi had taken a sip of his tea as Kazuto had told the waitress that he would take some. Soon after Kazuto had gotten him his tea and took a sip of his own, Kazuto had asked what Daichi did in the village. Daichi smiled and said, "I'm on the second Operations team." Daichi had, to put it simply. It was where the majority of the Shinobi that were considered the rank of Chunin were mostly placed. "I actually just got placed on the team, so I don't know much about my team yet. Although, I did meet at least one of them. She's actually from my clan as well. As for the other two, I haven't got the chance to greet them yet." Daichi said admittedly. However, it won't be long until he would officially get to meet them. After all, they were on the same team, so he would definitely get to meet them sometime soon.

"I hear the Chunin Exams have started up. It's being held in the Land of Snow if I'm not mistaken," Daichi had said, thinking back to when he had taken the Chunin Exams. Daichi was modest the entire time about his progression into the exams at that point in time. However, he had clearly shown the skills to pass. It wasn't just in him to boast about his skills to be quite honest. He felt that anyone could pass the Exams if they put their mind at work. The Chunin Exams, no matter where they were being held, was always designed to challenge Genin. The Chunin Exams would always be changed in some form too so that the next Generation of Genin wouldn't be doing the same exact thing. It was always different each year.

"Forgive me, I was rambling. It was a wave of nostalgia hitting me," Daichi smiled nervously, scratching the back of his head. "So, what do you do, if of course, you don't mind me asking?" Daichi had asked Kazuto since he told him about what he did.

Kazuto listened with care, granting the man his full attention before he would take another sip of tea. As his theory was confirmed he found it amusing that he was placed in a team with one of his kin. There was nothing wrong with that but it was in his belief that having teams comprised of members from different clans meant that there was a stronger cooperation between all the clans that made up the village, but he kept his objections with such roster formation. As he handled most of the ANBU detachment in the village he chose to use arrayed teams with different abilities, taking in the clans they belonged in consideration.

"The Exams haven't started yet." He declared to his new acquaintance. "I will depart there soon as an escort for the genin for the exams." He said quietly before taking another sip of tea. He didn't particularly like the idea of the exams taking place in such a desolate location like Yukigakure, the exams themselves were already difficult as they were, but the freezing conditions would make it even much harder. "Although I'm there to see my apprentice and my fiance, they're both genin." The Senju expressed before he leaned on his seat as he pondered what to reply with the obvious question that he knew was about to come.

"I'm a Jonin." He said at first dryly. "As of what I'm doing right now, I apologize, but I can't say." That was the answer that he always gave and the one that had been instructed by his proctors when he was merely a novice in ANBU that they weren't allowed to disclose their assignment as a member of the organization, and since he was a Jonin and outranked his fellow shinobi, he was in no real obligation of detailing any of his current deployments nor his status as ANBU Captain.

"Oh, well it should be a little exciting for the Genin none the less." Daichi had said briefly after Kazuto had corrected him about the Chunin Exams. When Kazuto had stated that he was to escort the Genin to the land of Snow, Daichi had smiled. Kazuto also stated that two Genin, in particular, was his fiance and the other was his apprentice. "Congrats. You must be buying your food for the both of you, then?" Daichi asked, referring to his fiance. The Hatake had to admit that he wasn't quite 'in tune' with the department of romance to be quite honest. He never gave it all too much thought, if he were to be completely truthful. Perhaps, one day he'd find someone to spend the rest of his life with. For now, though, his work as Shinobi came first.

When Kazuto had said in a dry tone that he was a Jonin, Daichi had quickly said, "My current goal is to become a Jonin. I've always wanted to become a Genin Team Leader, ya see," Daichi said, beginning to explain. "I want to be a Shinobi that's not just strong, but I want to set a good example to those who are just starting their path as a Leaf Shinobi," Daichi said, not faltering in his words. "I may not have the leadership skills yet, of course, someday I will, and I look forward to it," Daichi said smiling. "Also, don't worry about it. I'm not one to pry. It's actually probably a good thing that I don't know. Classified Information is not something I should know to begin with," Daichi said, completely understanding Kazuto's reasoning for not telling him in detail about what he's been currently doing.

Daichi also knew that the man sitting in front of him had no obligation to tell him such a thing either, especially when it came to his own job. "My parents had taught me that meddling in stuff that doesn't fully pertain to what I do is a bad thing, so I just avoid it altogether. It's become a slight habit of mine since I became a Genin," Daichi said, being honest. That also was another thing. Daichi hardly ever lied about anything. Now, he'd be vague about certain things that wouldn't pertain to someone, but in terms of lying to someone deliberately, that's something he wouldn't do.

"Your parents are wise." He told the Hatake almost immediately. It was a good attitude to have not to seek information that wasn't according to your current rank, although Kazuto would encourage questioning orders when they would seem questionable. At least that was the way that he had always operated and the man hoped that his new acquaintance would be that sort of man as well, specially if he were to aim to take his own command upon becoming a Jonin, he should have an ability to think on his own feet. "And as you said, being Jonin is not only a matter of skill, but of leadership." He spoke before taking another sip of his tea. "But you need to have the mental fortitude to make difficult decisions. Sometimes you can't save them all."

It was a truth that he had learned as a Jonin and doubly so as an ANBU. Whatever bellicose principles that the the academy and the a Jonin teacher would pass on were not close to the actual realities of combat and their duties as shinobi. "This is a reason why not everyone becomes a Jonin, the reality of command is too much for some to handle." That was true, either they stayed as Chunin or they became specialists on a single field as a Tokubetsu Jonin. "So, you should ask yourself if you would be ready to make those difficult choices, send two hundred to be slaughtered so two thousand may live to fight for another day."

Kazuto knew that it wasn't the most pleasant topic, specially as they awaited for his food. But there was much that Daichi would need to understand if he tried to opt to for a promotion. To become a Jonin was a bigger leap than becoming a Chunin, at least that is how he saw it.

Daichi had sat there listening closely to Kazuto as the Jonin had spoken once more. Even though it was a hard truth for most shinobi, what Kazuto had said was a very hard truth. Admittedly, Daichi didn't like the thought of people being sacrificed for the greater good, however, he did understand there would be times where someone like him, or another Shinobi had or would make such a decision. Daichi sat there, contemplating on what he should actually say. "Do you think that there could be a way to avoid such decision making?" Daichi had asked. He wasn't meaning to come off disrespectful towards the Jonin. In fact, he was asking a rather legitimate question.

In all honesty, that was the only thing that Daichi could say, or ask rather. Daichi's fellow clansmen honored the shinobi code highly and felt that missions were of great importance in general in terms of following and taking orders that were given. Daichi, of course, felt the same, however, there were some things that he would question from time to time. Daichi had never been in a tough spot like that before. compared to most ninja that came before him, like his parents, had probably faced such predicaments, he was sure of. He also knew that there would be a time when he would face such a hard decision. It was clear that it did worry him a bit, but at the same time, he didn't seem to let it weigh significantly on him.

It was clear that the Hatake still had quite a few things to learn while on his path of being a Shinobi, however, he still accepted the path he had chosen, without any regrets. Daichi wanted to keep doing what he was doing and to keep learning, whether it be something that he didn't know or learning from his own mistakes that he might make. His parents told that it was the best thing a Shinobi could do, was to learn so that he can one day guide and teach those that would next such guidance from newer generations of shinobi to come.

"No." Kazuto said with shake of his head, eyes closed as he compered the words after giving the short answer. It was something that he had made peace with when he had assumed his first command. Save them if you can but make sure their sacrifices matter. As much as the idea was a notion that could bother his more honorable beliefs, but if the village survived and prospered, if the village continued to linger long still because of the duty that he and his companions had done, then it would be all for the better. As he took a sip of tea he placed it the cup down and spoke.

"Dread from it, run for it, the moment will come when you will need to make a choice." It was perhaps somewhat harsh but he was certain that Daichi would understand. Of course he considered that if he wanted a career that didn't meant having to face those decisions then he would probably opt for a desk job in the administration building or as a village guard. Although he would not bring it up, preferring to be polite rather than insult his new acquaintance. "Now, I don't believe in sending comrades to needless slaughter."

He would remark on it. He believed that sacrifices could be made when there wasn't another choice but he would not condone commanders using those under their command to seek personal glory and recognition. He despite those that were power hungry and would create a name paved by the individuals that had died because of their desire to make a name for themselves. "A good commander would also seek to do more than what the situation is asked for them, to lead by example in the front and inspire those under his command." He said, making sure to put emphasis on those words. "At least I believe so."
