HISTORY

From the Born to Nōhime Yahiko and Tantetsu Tōru, two renowned members of two of the noblest clans and the village much was expected of her. From the moment she was set in the cradle after her birth, Yoshino was set on the path to rise for the protection and service for Iwagakure by her father. For years Yahiko had grown coveting the leadership of the clan but his skills had never been enough to claim the leadership of the clan.

Seeing that his dreams would become ever unfulfilled as he had reached the ceiling of his abilities, he didn't simply accept that his ambitions would die down, but he decided that it would be through his daughter that he would manage to rule the clan as she would certainly ascend and become the most powerful of the Nōhime with her great skill with the element and with his words being whispered to her ear.

The plan was put in motion, even despite the protest of his wife, and by the time she could walk, the man would spend his time making sure the girl was able to manifest Jinton, training her for his grand plan, making sure that she was the weapon that he needed her to be. However this plan came with its sacrifice as his relationship with his wife would be strained to the point that the two would not speak to each other for weeks at a time.

For years the only life the girl was that of constant training as she combined the early lessons of the academy from her instructors after she had begun her studies are the age of five, with the relentless training her father provided as he instilled the basics of the legendary element of their clan hoping that she was one of the few blessed with the ability to wield Dust Release.

His plan would fail at first, as while his daughter was loyal to the village, clan and to even to himself, she would struggle to understand him, and to even demonstrate the affinity to even conjure to element with each passing session of training.

As time passed, frustration began to mount within Yahiko, the training became increasingly grueling and intensive, driving apart the family even more, but despite that, the young girl would raise to meet the challenge, wearing the bruises on her body and the worn and callused and bandaged hands result of the strenuous training yet determined and undaunted by the lack of success she continued to ask her father for training.

To his surprise, by the time she had turned seven she would be able to manifest a tiny and feeble cube that would barely singe the flesh of anything, but that was undoubtedly the fabled element of their clan. Excited by this prospect, Yahiko would show one of the rare instances of affection to his daughter, prompting her to carry on with the training with even greater zeal.

However, he would press his daughter far harder after this, blindly seeking continue his unfulfilled ambitions through his daughter training her until she was unable to stand due exhaustion. Rumors of the aggressive training would spread around the village and many within the clan would begin whisper among themselves as what could be thought as a cruel training and the decision on whether or not they should intercede.

Ultimately they didn't interceded allowing Yahiko to proceed with the greuling and aggressive training he had put his daughter through, using the convenient excuses of living to the clans expectations and produce another loyal and skilled kunoichi in the service of the village. and then clan

Frustration would mount in the girl as well, as the praises she received from her instructors from the academy would be wasted on deaf ears from her father, increase the intensity of the training even further, as he tried to strengthen her skills with Jinton as her father insisted that the progress she showed was not the adequate.

It was then during a training session in which tragedy would strike as a training session was not going particularly well, Yahiko began to push Yoshino further and further with each exercise yielding poorly for the girl until finally a frustrated Yahiko would strike his daughter, knocking her to the floor and letting out his displeasure be heard for her.

In an impulse of fury, she allowed all the resentment she had accumulated after faithfully trying to please her father and for a brief second lost a handle of her power, blasting her father with pillar of Jinton, creating a cube that surrounded his head and ultimately behead him, his head becoming little else to dust.

Exhausted by this she fell unconscious being found hours later by her mother and shinobi from the village that had been alarmed of their disappearance. Awaking days later, she would be informed of what they had found and questioned by members of the Wardens from the Guardian Corps. After analyzing all the available information, the Wardens would come to the conclusion that it had been an accident and absolved the girl from any punishment, allowing her to continue her studies at the academy.

However things didn't went well at home, her mother fearful of her would stop addressing her daughter entirely, her self-confidence would crumble and with it her own skills, she would stop training her ability with the element entirely during the next few months.

Even as her skills degraded, she would find enough resilience within herself to continue carrying on and graduate from the academy at the age of twelve. Initially she would be placed in a Genin team under the guidance of a Jonin it was hoped that she would develop as a shinobi, but the first few years would only yield difficulties and frustration, as Yoshino was still unable to shake the fact that she had slayed her father, and to make it worse her mother would treat her as if she didn't exist.

The bonds with her team were non-existent as they saw the girl as little more than a burden. It would thanks to his Jonin teacher, Tantetsu Inori that her self-confidence and skill would begin to resource. A noted master of bukijutsu and the sword he would tutor her, seeing her as a blank slate to work on, specially as she still refused to use Jinton, feeling unsure of the element as a whole.

Slowly and thanks to his guidance, she began to tailor her fighting style, acquiring great abilities with the sword coming to her own and dispelling the doubt that shackled her and becoming more useful for her team. Proving herself a natural of bukijutsu, she would come to master the intricacies of weapons with her master, Inori considering her a natural of the art.

As the months passed the cohesion of the team grew and the missions they took became more important, slaying wild animals, subduing criminals that would pray on roads, any time not dedicated to missions was put into training as Inori began to put in drills for the Chunin Exams, preparing them as he would see promise in them.

By the time she had turned fourteen, she and her teammates entered the exams with a renewed zeal, passing the written exam and then fighting through the remaining trails that weeded out the candidates. It was during the final test, as her squad was pitted against several others that would see her gain some renown in the village.

In a game of a capture the flag, she would find herself alone after her teammates had been disabled after attempting to seize the flags of their opponents. Alone, Yoshino stood her ground, three other teams coming to seize the flag guarded by a single individual thinking her to be an easy prey.  With only her sword the Nohime stayed her ground, determined in her tenacity and stubbornness that if she would not win, she would outlast them and not surrender her position.

With ferocity she fought the three teams by herself, giving ground to goad her foes into a sense of security, pushing when she new she had an immediate advantage. The round would finally end at a stalemate, the opposing teams too battered and bruised to continue and a single figure standing in victory at the midst of the arena, it was Yoshino's bruised, tired and with blood trailing from her upper lip.

That day she would gain two things, the scar that slightly marred her upper lip, a souvenir of the exams, yet it was the other one that would become a badge of honor for her, the epithet of Defiance for the actions during her exams against. It was in light of her tenacity and strategy that had managed to obtain a victory against terrible odds.

With her return to the village, tense weeks would pass as the hierarchy of the village considered what had gone during the last exams in which she only had light training as she and her teammates would attempt to recharge batteries for any incoming missions, the anticipation eating at them as days passed.

It was then that she and her Jonin teacher would be summoned to the village's administrative building. With Inori standing behind her proudly, she would be granted the rank of Chunnin from the Tsuchikage himself, becoming the sole member of her team to receive the rank. Radiant by receiving the news she would be congratulated by her teacher and her teammates, but the news itself would not be celebrated by her mother, who had become even more distant during the passing of the years.

With the celebration soured, she would focus her efforts on the missions assigned to her, alongside her new squad, still retaining bonds with her mentor and her former teammates. However the new realities of her responsibility would become self evident as the missions increased in difficulty, and while she was able to complete them, she understood the needs of the village and what it demanded of her.

Seeking to face her own demons, she would accept the past and move from it, retaking her training of Jinton at the age of fifteen under the guidance of a member of her clan. In many ways it felt as as exercising an old muscle, moving a limb that she had been not moved in years.

With time she would refine the skill and was able to even cast several of the most common technique, being deemed an adept of the element by the time she had become seventeen. As time went on, she would continue to impress the village hierarchy, receiving commendation upon commendation as she followed suit mission after mission.

By the time she was eighteen, she would not only be promoted to the tank of Tokubetsu Jonin but also be extended an invitation from the Guardian Corps to join their ranks as Warden. Elated by this, she would humbly accept the invitation and the promotion.

However she would not rest upon her laurels and would continue to improve herself and her mind considered the idea of marrying the skills that had seen her early raise to recognition and the new weapon that she had mastered and used with precision for the sake of the village.

The first attempts would be a failure, the weapons breaking and failing to properly sync with the dust release chakra. It would be than that she would seek her old master and transmit her idea. Intrigued by this, her master would call in some favors from within his clan and begin to forge weapons strong enough to withstand and transform the deadly element into something that could enhance weapons.

The genius of the Tantetsu would come forth, and with it, the desired weapons she needed to complete her own personal project. At first the weapons would feel unwieldy, heavy, meant for another person, but with patience, time and training she would master them.

Soon the weapons would be put to test, their power and her combined skills would soon be known by the enemies of Iwagakure. And through the village the murmurs of her sword that sliced all creation to ash and sowed fear to all who knew who she was. The name of the Hellblade would be added, becoming her second alias after Defiance.

By the time she was twenty-three she was given overall command of three shinobi squads as the village was hired for a side of a civil war in another country, her force coming as a relief force for the beleaguered loyalists. As the shinobi would stay behind to hold a fortress against a larger force of made from mercenary shinobi, giving time for the feudal lord of the to escape to a more secure location, her shinobi and those forces loyal to the Daimyo facing an opposition with superior numbers.

Weeks later, a relief force from other squad of shinobi from Iwagakure would return, the fortress still standing with the fields before them filled with the bodies of enemy shinobi as crows and vultures feasted upon their remain, with the defenders tired and wounded, but unbent under the command of the Defiant One and the tale of the Siege of the Fortress of Shura would spread among the youths of the village upon her return.

Taking a brief respite she would rejoin the effort with the men under her command and fight under the command of Yutakako Shinso, following his orders during the war effort, only deviating from her orders when she saw the chance to keep more of the shinobi under her command alive.

During the final push to the capital, she would find herself taking command as Shinso would be wounded. Expertly dividing her forces into a triple front attack, leading from the middle while the other sides of their attacking force would ambush from the side and break into the castle with minimal casualties.

After the war was finished, the young woman would be brought next to the Yutakako, the man impressed by the result, the man would congratulate her for the skills she had displayed and the few losses they had taken.

Taking a few weeks to rest, the shinobi from Iwagakure would return to the village, receiving commendations for how they had conducted the mission and upon Yutakako Shinso's recommendation, Yoshino was promoted to the rank of Jonin at the age of twenty-four her skills even further recognized.

Whilst professionally her life was great, personally she struggled, as she dedicated herself to her duty and found no way to form a lasting relationship beyond that of friendship. Not bothered by this she would continue to carry on, trying to mend the relationship with her mother only to find that her mother was unwilling to do so, unable to forgive the accidental death of her father.

Understanding that there would never be a reconciliation with her mother, Yoshiko simply left her, deciding not to waste her time with someone that despite all her accomplishments felt nothing but contempt for her, carrying on and completing more missions for the village.

As time passed and she gained further recognition for her skills as a shinobi, Yoshino would come to embody the values of Wardens within the Guardian Corps steadfast, selfless and modest, content with her role as a bringer of justice and peacekeeper within the village, thinking it the greatest honor she could ever hope to attain, eschewing achieving the leadership of her clan.

It was during this time that she would be the happiest as she would meet a man and eventually bore him a son, although never formally marrying him the two formed a family with their son whom they decided to give her last name to. This lead to a reconciliation with her mother thanks to her son.

Shortly by the time she had turned twenty-six she had been elevated to the position of Elite Jonin, in recognition of her veteran status, experience, leadership and the countless missions she had carried for the village. Yet things would turn sour soon.

The village would be embroiled in a short but violent civil war as a faction led by her own clan and another by the Tantetsu would clash upon the leadership of the village which would present a problem between the members of the Guardian Corps and other organizations within the village, but more so to herself. She would feel conflicted at the two clans from which she hailed to be the leading participants in the war.  deciding to take no part of the war in any side, she adhered to her guardian oaths and took it upon herself to stop any fighting.

However the more she fought about both sides, the more she saw how meaningless it was everything. She saw a village that had by large failed its people. Distraught she clung to the last thing that had any meaning for her in the village and saw her role as a guardian to protect that which she loved.

However fate had a strange turn awaiting for her as it was during the fighting in the civil war as she and other guardians were keeping what little order remained in which her family perished caught in the cross fire between both sides of the civil war. Broken and angered as she clutched the bodies of her beloved and son she would soon turn her despair into wrath and in a moment's notice slayed the combatants on both sides and her fellow guardians in a red haze.

As her thirst for blood was sated and all that remained around her was dust and echoes, she fully embraced her bitterness and saw the village for the folly that it was. Never again would she wear its colors, taking her lover and son's body with her she departed in the chaos, slaying those that chose to stop her. Before departing for good, she buried a grave for both of them at the western coast of Ichi no Kuni and departed, forever becoming a vagrant and plotting for one day to take her revenge against her former village to whom she had given all and which had taken everything from her.

FIGHTING STYLE

Approaching battle in rage and fury, Nohime is the zenith of what a shinobi and a sword master is. Heralded to have a great future her personal tragedies have marked a warrior that shows her fulfilled potential. While many of this can be attributed to the blood that flows through her veins, it is through tremendous sacrifice and ingenuity that Yoshino has emerged as possibly one of the greatest blademasters of her generation, bringing terror to the battlefield, all in great part of her invention of a style that as far as she knows only she has mastered with the combination of Jinton and bukijutsu.

Her combat style can be described as vicious, chaotic and fast. Filled with both fury and a malignant grace as she waltz into the battlefield, focusing heavily into a relentless and ruthless offense in bold, direct motions filled with unpredictability and seemingly erratic movement. While some would think that this style of combat would be used by someone who was little else than a mindless beast for the Nohime this is also a state of mind that leads through a penumbra in which she has to control her desire for victory and satisfaction of the fight, giving her a razor sharp focus that allows her to resist and counter insidious illusions to a degree.

Thanks to her style and offensive-minded techniques she can overwhelm most opponents, yet when this fails she does a ordered retreat using her considerable talent with the blade and expertly trained evasion and muscle memory to fall back into a strongpoint from which she can resume her attack with the same ferocity of before.

Supplementing this is her extensive knowledge of Jinton, allowing her to create more distance between herself and the enemy should she need to. Displaying terrifying applications of the element as she turns all in her sight into little else than a memory to be swept by the wind.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Longsword of the Remnant

At a young age Yoshino found difficulty with the manipulation of her clan's famed Kekkei Tota, rather a detriment she made this of a virtue as she combined her skill with the blade with that which was a boon of her genes.  Through great insight and practice she was able to understand the properties of the element and apply advanced shapes until these were distilled into a form of sheer simplicity but of maximum danger as she is able to project the deadly element through the edge of her sword, further refining it into a potent force of destruction capable of inflicting horrifying damage at different ranges.

Enthropic Strike

At first her abilities with Jinton where subpar, enough to make her almost consider to abandon the element entirely after accidentally slaying her father. Despite this set back she managed to claim her birthright by understanding the element and applying it to its zenith in battle. With this she can atomize enemies at will, render defenses into nothingness and even protect herself from attacks that would otherwise be deadly.

Sudden Onslaught

Her skill with the sword is the stuff of legend, yet it is by her speed that she reaches her enemies for the kill. To most enemies she would seem like blur, an after image that darts from one side to the next, to others they would be met by a enemy that provides a relentless and aggressive dance of death as her precise, quick silver strikes seem to attack at many directions at the same time as she overwhelms their defenses and only stops when the final stroke is delivered.

Competitive Edge

Speed alone would not defeat an enemy, for there is no offense be sustained in such breathtaking fashion. As such she relies in her reflexes, in exquisite quicksilver movement and well trained evasion that has been engrained into her very muscles to avoid being hit, in elegant parries to deflect otherwise dolorous blows as she seeks to regain footing or breathing space to mount her next destructive offensive.

Stellar Alignment

L:ike many of her kin, Nohime was blessed with a seemingly innate understanding of chakra control. As much of a blessing as well as a necessity for the backfiring effects of the element that is at the grasp of her fingertips, this internal balancing act allows her to approach battles in a surgical manner, using no more and no less than needed of her reserves making each encounter a calculated approach in which he dispatches the foes

Flawless Approach

In the midst of battle, there can be no moment of hesitation, no respite, no mercy, For the Nohime battle is one of the few instances that she feels alive, were the bitterness and hatred of her village is temporarily lifted as she conducts ruthless battle and maintains equilibrium between her rage and lust for battle and the control that her style demands, as such she had honed her mine into an instrument of precision in which there is no space for doubt. Thanks to this she has gained the ability to resist and cancel genjutsu up to A-rank level, continuing to fight through them to ensure victory.
