[Souzouteki Emi]

This trip has been an interesting one. Emi has sat back in quite amazement for the majority of it. It is his first time travelling beyond the mountain ridges of Tsuchi no Kuni and it is truly like seeing a whole new world. His artistic eye cannot help but be fascinated by the bountiful jungle and swamp lands. The humid air reacts strangely with his inks and he almost thinks it makes his lines draw smoother, but that may just be the artistic inspiration gripping him. Such a bountiful land is good for the mind.

Though it was sorely tempting to spend the entire trip doing nothing but drawing and imagining ways he could integrate the landscape into his techniques, he knew that he needed to keep at least something close to attentive focus. Any trip outside the village was always risky, and he was a guard. Not the Tsuchikage's most direct guard, but still. He was a member of the guardian corps, and a representative of Iwagakure in some ways just by being from there. Even if he wanted to draw the day away, he should do something.

The something that came to mind was rerooting himself with the earth and practicing his doton techniques. There was one that was quite common in Iwagakure, though he'd not learned it yet. In some ways, it felt... correct to show off such a technique here. He found a decent training area with terrain he felt comfortable on and set about practicing. He utilized the grand mole technique as a warmup, flattening the ground before him to make the technique he intended to train easier.

Another day, another act. Kunikunosaku was getting weary of patrolling Fake Taki, making the attempt to pretend to be a citizen. It was lame, the black outfit, that was lame too. Everything was lame, but she felt complete, properly nourished. For once in her short life, Kunikunosaku felt refresh, divine, she just needed to awaken her new gift. However, she barely gotten to play with her new toy, and so, she truly set her sight to better her Doton. The girl started to make to a nearby training ground to do just that, wiggling her way through the under brush to see a stranger across the field.

"I wonder if he's with Sayua too?" Kuni whispered to herself as she crouched low to the ground, threads unstitching as he form changed into that of a serpent. Silently slithering around the edge of the training lot, the featureless serpent moved to get a better look. He seems kinda bland... is he Sayua's boyfriend? Kuni thought as she noted whoever this person was, by the guess of how they dressed, they too were an Iwa shinobi and not a pickup. Slithering behind a tree, the serpent broke apart, forming the girl, oddly in her black formal wear.

She didn't need to really worry about herself, more making her friend not jealous. The Chūnin walked up near the male, her figure moving as quiet as a master hunter as she positioned behind the individual. The snow-haired teen placed her hands on the ground, summoning a stone wall in front of the male, hoping to get a shocked reaction out of him. Kunikunosaku chuckled regardless as she began to speak, "Just what do you think you're doing in my swamp?"

After having to recycle the roots that ended up killing the previous Apprentice just to transfer Jiongu to Kunikunosaku, the mass of black roots recollects most of its abilities from the Apprentice previous while forming new ones with its new master/host, Kunikunosaku. As far as the roots are concerned, like any organism, it desires to feed and survive, all else is not required, nor necessary to function. As for the Symbiotic Relationship benefits Kunikunosaku can control the thread-like roots however she wishes. The thread are quite versatile, acting much like surgical threads they can be used to sew up wounds stretch, or harden for attacks akin to squid tentacles, as well as being equally flexible and significantly dexterous. In time, Kunikunosaku will learn that as long as they keep a heart attached to at least some of the roots making up her body at all times, she is functionally immortal, only dying once all the threads are completely removed from any living hearts, and is unable to be poisoned. Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

Symbiotic Relationship: Mutualism

After gaining knowledge on how Jiongu behaves and acts, Kunikunosaku developed a strong bond with the Jiongu entity. Accepting both live in her now; that both are what makes up Kunikunosaku. As a result of this understanding and bond, Jiongu aids her in combat - despite being a small boost. When conditions are met, Jiongu can provide an aided strength boost to Kunikunosaku during combat. It is still relative to her natural strength at the time. While this has no speed benefits, this boost of strength can put her up to par with the max strength of her peers at the same rank level. As she matures and gains new skills and new statuses. So too does her strength grow.

Symbiotic Bond: Strong Mind, Strong Body
As Kunikunosaku developed a stronger relationship with Jiongu, the creature bestowed Kunikunosaku an additional gift. That which is bestowed grants her the body as strong as her will. As long as she has the will to fight and keep pushing forward, Kunikunosaku has attained a sense of a strong body. She can still feel all the pain she receives, however, her will will push through it; literally making her body push through the pain and maintain functionality despite the egregious wounds she may receive. Overwhelming pain at one time or other will breaking input can debilitate the girl's will-driven tolerance to falter to the degree of an average shinobi, opening her up to common pain. It is this will that allows her to force the tendrils/roots/threads to repair themselves from injury or stitch back together. This will increases with her skill as she becomes more confident and driven to satiate both her needs and Jiongu's.

Power of a God:
After a great time learning how to control Jiongu, Kunikunosaku has learned to store chakra in each of her threads so long as they continue to be attached to at least one of her hearts. This extra storage capacity allows the girl to amass greater amounts of chakra within herself, expanding her reserves beyond that of the normal shinobi her rank. DESCRIPTION:

This technique allows the user to become also fluid with their movements. Their skin and body structure becomes serpentine and detaches as they become almost a slithering mass of tendrils. This allows them to become flatter and more nimble. They are able to move as an otherworldly serpent-like creature. In this form, the user is able to move vertically along surfaces and swim quickly. As well, the user can separate their hearts from their body to cover more ground. While this technique enhances the user's stealth it does not prevent them from being detected from a keen eye or other types of tracking.

On duty, Emi was tremendously observant, able to make note of even the smallest details and be ready for anything. Off duty, though... When he was left to his own devices, he could get very in his own head, and fail to notice obvious things. Such as a person coming up behind him. As a shinobi, that was probably something he should be more aware of, but he felt safe enough that he didn't notice Kuni's silent approach. Even if he was paying attention, he might not, given how stealthy she was.

When the wall came up before him, his reaction was probably a little lackluster. He tilted his head in confusion. Did he make that? He didn't make that. There was no way. He wasn't trying to make that. Had he learned how to make stone walls like that and forgotten? Maybe the Grand Mole- Oh!

Her sudden speech was far more effective at surprising him, making him jump and turn around to face her. He relaxed pretty quickly when he saw it was just a regular person, and not some swamp creature.

"I'm sorry," he said. "I wasn't aware it was your swamp." He apparently took her at face value here. Despite his head being in the clouds, he was often a very straightforward person, so he struggled to tell when people were joking. "I was just trying to train a technique. Do you want me to do it somewhere else?"

It was a bit shocking the Doton wall didn't freak the man with an appropriate reaction. Still, that didn't kill Kunikunosaku's mood as she began to speak, somehow that got the reaction she was expecting. Odd, still the boy responded at a rather face value, obviously making the small monster wonder about his mental state in confusion. "No, no, I'm just messing with ya, I don't own swamps. Keep on doing your training, this is a training lot. What technique are you training even?" Kuni let the threads rip apart, forming her old shinobi gi, the mask held tightly to her face.

"Maybe I can help, you're a friend of Sayua's, right?" The girl would ask, circling the individual, moving closer to the wall she created. The girl swung a hook kick and removed part of the side of the wall. The snow-haired teen looked at the presumably older male, waiting for him to describe his predicament. She slammed the ground pulling out an earthen scythe to cut the wall. It took a pit but after getting it just right, Kuni kicked the wall, watching it crumble backward as the weapon crumbled into sand from her hand.

"Forgive me for asking, you two aren't a thing, right?" Kuni asked, wrapping her questions as fast as logical sense allows.

As far as the roots are concerned, like any organism, it desires to feed and survive, all else is not required, nor necessary to function. As for the Symbiotic Relationship benefits Kunikunosaku can control the thread-like roots however she wishes. The thread are quite versatile, acting much like surgical threads they can be used to sew up wounds stretch, or harden for attacks akin to squid tentacles, as well as being equally flexible and significantly dexterous. In time, Kunikunosaku will learn that as long as they keep a heart attached to at least some of the roots making up her body at all times, she is functionally immortal, only dying once all the threads are completely removed from any living hearts, and is unable to be poisoned. Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

Symbiotic Relationship: Mutualism

After gaining knowledge on how Jiongu behaves and acts, Kunikunosaku developed a strong bond with the Jiongu entity. Accepting both live in her now; that both are what makes up Kunikunosaku. As a result of this understanding and bond, Jiongu aids her in combat - despite being a small boost. When conditions are met, Jiongu can provide an aided strength boost to Kunikunosaku during combat. Oh. She'd just been joking. That was good news. He wouldn't really mind having to relocate to somewhere else, but it was definitely more convenient, and he didn't have to be concerned that he'd somehow gotten mixed up and ended somewhere he didn't belong. It was a strange joke, though. Maybe she'd just been trying to shock him? He wondered if she would get along with Ryoko, from his village. Though the two might butt heads if their sense of humor was too similar, now that he thought about it. Still, this did seem like a more mild version of the kind of thing Ryoko would try to do. He always ran into interesting people.

"Hm. A thing?" Emi asked. He wasn't exactly sure what kind of thing she meant. It was a really vague inquiry. "We're not on a team together," he decided, as if that might be what Kuni meant. "I don't know her particularly well. This is our first time being on a mission of any kind together." That would inadvertently answer Kuni's question, at least, even if it was in the most roundabout way imaginable.

Now onto the other question.

"I'm trying to learn the Flying Stones technique. It's said to be good for crowd control, and I'm part of the Guardian Corps," he explained. Crowd control was part of the whole thing he was meant to be good at.

Well, that's good, Sayua doesn't have meh tastes. The Chūnin though as Emi explained how his was practically the first time he'd really was anywhere close to her. Kunikunosaku thought a bit on that, mostly "why?" Her thoughts were interrupted by Emi revealing why he was here. Flying Rocks... Is that an Iwa thing? The Mikatakujira went through various jutsus in her head. She had a similar one, yet Kuni always wanted to hurl a boulder at someone instead of just stone plates. But, that last part... "Um... what is the Barrier Corps.? Is it something from Iwa, what do you guys do?"

The girl asked, confused as to what he meant... Maybe he wasn't so lame. Maybe. "I guess, I can try to help you with the jutsu if you'll let me." The Mikatakujira stated, offering her aid with whatever was troubling him. "I'm a great teacher, I know Katon and Doton, even better than that, I'm learning Raiton. I think I'm more than qualified to help you... uh... what's your name." The teen asked realizing she had no clue who the hell this person was.

What I'm trying to figure out, why did he come along. To just train? Is he lying about Sayua. Don't fucking tell me it's the Okada... No matter, I guess. We're here training.

"The Barrier Squad is..." Well, he didn't know how to explain it more clearly than the name implied. It was a part of the Guardian Corps that specialized in barriers of various kinds. He knew ones related to his ink jutsu, primarily. It was a unique set of barrier techniques that made him an interesting surprise addition to the team, which was why he had been chosen in the first place. "We specialize in national defense and blocking attacks. It is our job to hold off attackers," Emi explained. That was part of why this jutsu was interesting. Anyone would run away or try to take cover if they were having small boulders flung at them.

Her explanation of her elemental mastery was intriguing. She seemed quite a bit younger than him, yet she had mastered more elements. People learned at different paces, and he had a habit of falling behind, so maybe she was just more experiencing with elemental areas than he was. Or she had some clan advantage, perhaps? It could be anything, really.

"I would be happy to train it with you," Emi said, smiling slightly and bowing his head. "It works the same as many other doton techniques," Emi said. It was just a matter of getting the chakra output required for the technique right. He was still more familiar with suiton than doton, as it had been a recently acquired elemental ability.

He formed the hand seals with his hands and bent over to plant them on the ground. He succeeded in making the ground in front of him jut out a little, but, obviously, as this was just a demonstration, he put nowhere near enough chakra in.

"...That is the part where boulders would fly out."

So, he's part of Iwa's defense... Why isn't he like, ya'know, back home protecting Iwagakure... Well, I mean Iwa definitely has a mixed bag, so... it's not too strange... until he said national defense. now that make me confused. Silently, Kuni observed this character up and down. Curiouser and curioser. In truth, this boy duped Kuni, there might be more to him than meets the eye. She folded her arms instinctively but once the boy agreed train with, Kunikunosaku couldn't but form a grin, she needed to learn Doton so this shift was okay. He first elaborated it was the same as many other Doton techniques to which Kuni looked at him in feign shock.

However, she'd do no more as her attention was set on him. Before he did the seals to put his hand on the ground, Kuni had mentally prepared herself, only to see him after placing his hands, he described the rest of the jutsu. Well, that was very anti-climatic. The Takigakure Kunoichi thought as she considered her words. "You're training this, right? Cool, so as you know Doton requiring you to make some contact with the ground is best when you shoot chakra into the ground as if, I don't, overloading the ground I guess." The girl tried to explain, uncertain if it would work.

Demonstrating what she meant, Kuni stomped the ground, and a rather large pillar formed, she dug her hand in with ease to rip out a scythe made of stone. "At least, that's how I imagine it goes, and to be honest, it works better than just trying to will the ground. I have a jutsu probably closer to what you want if you don't mind me showing it." The teen stated with a sheepish, forced smile. Being friendly to strangers was not her cup of tea.

As she said that, Emi nodded. "I know," he assured her. He could be a little thoughtless or oblivious about a lot of things, but he at the very least knew how doton worked. Of course, Emi didn't exactly have massive chakra reserves or issues with eruptive chakra, but it was still something to consider.

He watched her perform the scythe creation technique and shot the pillar out of the ground, pulling a scythe from it. That was interesting. He would consider asking about that technique, too, but he already had one that allowed him to perform a similar technique. His ink weapon creation allowed him to have quite a bit of weapon flexibility, since he could salvage the used ink and utilize it to create weapon after weapon.

When she offered to show off a similar technique, Emi nodded enthusiastically.

"I would appreciate you demonstrating. Any example would be useful here. And if you already know something like it, it will probably help you learn it faster."

Glad he knows, means I don't need to repeat myself again and again. The Mikatakujira thought, full concentration on the boy's words. At least he had a safety concern, but what he didn't know was Kuni was a big girl, silly things don't hurt her... as much anyway. Still, it was a noble and charming note that Kunikunosaku did not share as she stomped the ground to take a scythe, daunting the stone's power before letting it release. She watched for Emi's reaction, and again when Kuni asked if he was willing to see her demonstrate a similar jutsu.

It was funny how he seemed enthusiastic and his explanation made sense, she would have ease learning the jutsu. She just hoped the experience was mutual. "Okay, see that tree? Watch. Both it and me." Kuni placed her hand on the ground as she hyperfocused on the tree she told Emi to watch. "Doton: Doeirou!" As soon as Kuni finished, stone slabs shot from the ground, flying to hit and immobilize the tree, or at least appear that way, can't immobilize something that can't move.

"Doton: Doeirou... a jutsu that conjures stone plates to immbolize an enemy. There is a chance what you are trying is closely related. How did you enjoy that?"

After having to recycle the roots that ended up killing the previous Apprentice just to transfer Jiongu to Kunikunosaku, the mass of black roots recollects most of its abilities from the Apprentice previous while forming new ones with its new master/host, Kunikunosaku. As far as the roots are concerned, like any organism, it desires to feed and survive, all else is not required, nor necessary to function. As for the Symbiotic Relationship benefits Kunikunosaku can control the thread-like roots however she wishes. The thread are quite versatile, acting much like surgical threads they can be used to sew up wounds stretch, or harden for attacks akin to squid tentacles, as well as being equally flexible and significantly dexterous. In time, Kunikunosaku will learn that as long as they keep a heart attached to at least some of the roots making up her body at all times, she is functionally immortal, only dying once all the threads are completely removed from any living hearts, and is unable to be poisoned. Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

Symbiotic Relationship: Mutualism

After gaining knowledge on how Jiongu behaves and acts, Kunikunosaku developed a strong bond with the Jiongu entity. Accepting both live in her now; that both are what makes up Kunikunosaku. As a result of this understanding and bond, Jiongu aids her in combat - despite being a small boost. When conditions are met, Jiongu can provide an aided strength boost to Kunikunosaku during combat. It is still relative to her natural strength at the time. While this has no speed benefits, this boost of strength can put her up to par with the max strength of her peers at the same rank level. As she matures and gains new skills and new statuses. So too does her strength grow.

Symbiotic Bond: Strong Mind, Strong Body
As Kunikunosaku developed a stronger relationship with Jiongu, the creature bestowed Kunikunosaku an additional gift. That which is bestowed grants her the body as strong as her will. As long as she has the will to fight and keep pushing forward, Kunikunosaku has attained a sense of a strong body. She can still feel all the pain she receives, however, her will will push through it; literally making her body push through the pain and maintain functionality despite the egregious wounds she may receive. Overwhelming pain at one time or other will breaking input can debilitate the girl's will-driven tolerance to falter to the degree of an average shinobi, opening her up to common pain. It is this will that allows her to force the tendrils/roots/threads to repair themselves from injury or stitch back together. This will increases with her skill as she becomes more confident and driven to satiate both her needs and Jiongu's.

After a great time learning how to control Jiongu, Kunikunosaku has learned to store chakra in each of her threads so long as they continue to be attached to at least one of her hearts. This extra storage capacity allows the girl to amass greater amounts of chakra within herself, expanding her reserves beyond that of the normal shinobi her rank. As with many other abilities, this ability continues to grow as the girl does through the ranks and years.

When Kuni instructed him to look at the specific tree, Emi focused his attention firmly on it. Maybe too much? He was very intent on following her direction and watched, expression shifting from concentrated to impressed when she sent those stone pillars crashing into the tree. That could probably do a lot of damage to a person. He certainly wouldn't like to get hit with an attack like that. It looked exactly like the kind of thing worth learning. So if it was similar to this new technique, that was great.

"I enjoyed it a lot," he answered, genuinely, nodding. He was a straightforward person and did not mind expressing his enthusiasm. He looked quite mild, and spoke in a mild manner, so it was sometimes hard to notice his excitement, but he was open about it in his own way. "The force required looked similar," Emi said. He ran her movements over in his mind, remembering every detail. If only he was a sensor and could memorize the movement of the chakra as well. That would help him with many things.

"If we do that, but simply separate the stone from the ground instead of allowing it to form into large pillars, and still use the same velocity... That should have a similar effect," Emi decided.

He formed the necessary hand seals in quick succession, then slammed his hands on the ground again. A large rock jutted out from the earth... and fell flat on the ground. Well, at least he had formed one. He just lacked the force.

Kunikunosaku's jutsu seemed to impress the man, but he wasn't that expressive about it. Such tact kind of reminded her of Etsuko. Hold on, why is he so much like Etsuko-sensei, don't tell me he has a nnth-bi in him, too. While she did think it was crazy Iwa would send it's jinchūriki, she took pause. Wait... Maybe it was that orange haired guy... Aki-something. Why was he looking for Keiko though? Kuni was getting side-tracked, lost in her thoughts, She came back in time to hear that what he was aiming for was something really similar. She turned to look at him, magenta eyes staring at him with a rather nonchalant gaze. It was a look only given to people who annoyed her before the Jiongu incident... now, everyone gets it.

She listened to Emi's thinking rattling the words against her head, trying to think the solution he came to through. The Mikatakujira couldn't really think of anything that could go wrong with what he is thinking. She waited around, looking as he made the seals once more. Once he smacked the earth, Kuni was pretty impressed a large boulder launched from the ground, only to crash back down. Well... Just what the hell was that, dude? Jiongu, you got any ideas? Kuni would mentally fish for ideas, only to be greeted by silence. Well, I kinda regret giving him that damn heart. I can't believe I'm thinking that.

"Okay Iwa guy, let me try. So don't form plates, just launch them... got it!" Kuni stated as she did her best to weave the seals correctly before smacking the earth. That part she was a master at. Sending her chakra from her body into the earth caused a different effect than either were hoping for, in a five-meter radius, tiny pebble-sized rocks shot out of the ground en masse pelting the tree pointed out earlier. "Uh... I don't think that's what you described... either way I'm making that, well, I made that now, call it 'Stony Hail' or something... Uh, how big is it supposed to be?"

When the pebbles shot from the ground, Emi held his hands up in front of his face defensively. All of them flew in the opposite direction, towards the tree, but still better safe than sorry. He wouldn't very much like to be pelted with a hail of tiny stones. Emi blinked at it, tilting his head in thought. That was an interesting technique. Weaponizing it could be interesting... But also, if it was so easy to accidentally do it while trying this other technique, maybe there was a reason people didn't use it. Maybe its battlefield application was limited, or something else already existed that did what it could do better.

Kuni asked Emi about the size of the technique. He remembered the material from the scroll he had read. "They are the size of small boulders. That means about 26 centimeters or greater in diameter. You want them to be large enough that a solid hit to the head with one could result in a concussion or a split skull," Emi explained. "You want to create multiple, like you just did. But... probably less than that," he said. That hailstorm was really interesting, but trying to create that many at once for a larger selection of rocks would probably be tremendously draining.

"That was interesting, though," he noted. Then he went about trying again. He formed the seals and slammed his hands on the ground again, and managed to form a handful of larger stones which jumped into the air, launching a few feet forward. Not quite, but closer.

Kunikunosaku nodded at his explanation, So I need to create big boys... got it. It was to be in a manner such as she just did but larger and certainly less, the Mikatakujira noted these pointers and made mental notes and visualizations of how this could be done. Kunikunosaku's attention shifted over to Emi as he stated that accounting everything, it was still impressive. The girl gave a faint smile before shaking her head back to stoicism. Her eyes focused once again, both in front of her and to Emi. The same handseals plastered to the same ground yielded different results. This time, stone head managed even more stones than initially, much more adequately sized than her hail of stones. In some aspects, it made her jealous he improved by observation, but it also made her proud because he was watching her that the whole adventure would be easier to bare.

"You know uh... let's go with 'dude'. You know, dude, you just look to me you're being too cautious, with your chakra. You just look afraid to use your full potential. You're hesitating, I noticed by just watching you. How big is your pool? I think if you use it more, you might get the results you want, if I could share my pool with you, it might help you learn but that's just my thought process."

This was an issue he repeatedly ran into while working with stone, he had learned. His natural chakra was suiton and that was much more... effortless. Water could flow without even trying. Earth required a firmer hand. It was why he had difficulty forming straight lines when he was doing the grand mole technique with Manami. He needed to remember his will of stone.

Kuni seemed to have the same impression, because she pointed it out. She said he was being too cautious. Was he? Maybe. Yes. He was. He was being restrained. Part of it was an instinctive restraint. The brush required a delicate hand, so he would be too delicate. But it was definitely somewhat out of concern for his chakra stores. He had relatively average chakra stores and no chakra control or extra reserves to speak of. That meant he needed to be careful, and sometimes that meant he was far, far too careful.

Alright. Drop the restraint. But- wait, what was she offering? Emi tilted his head at her like a curious dog and said,

"Share your stores? Is that something you're able to do, or is that just a hypothetical?" He asked. He had never heard of anyone sharing their chakra stores together. That was a really interesting idea if that was something that was possible. Was there a technique involved or maybe it was a clan ability of hers?
