A smooth rocking. Up a slight incline, down in the same incline. Repetitive. Slow. Comforting. A sounds lessens in volume. Thrashing decreases in intensity and frequency. Movements are slower and calm. Small noises occasionally come from him, but the screaming has ceased.
[break][break]
"Oh thank kami, he's calm." Reiashi would comment as he slowly placed one of the infant oprhans into his crib. Helping at the orphanage was a chore, but one Reiashi enjoyed. He always had a soft spot for kids. With a smile, he'd slowly head back downstairs to the... older children. Specifically five and up. Which meant usually: chaos.
[break][break]
There is movement, but not much noise. Footsteps in a rhythmic pattern. A workout? Unlikely, the children still talked during that. Were they planning some sort of prank and getting ready to spring it? The rhythmic nature was against such a conclusion... but a the same time, that could be used against him. Wait.... three, two, three... They were dancing.
[break][break]
"Oh he finally started that." Reiashi commented as he opened the door to the big room where the kids were given room to free. Yuuta had been talking about the idea of getting the kids to dance as a form of exercise. Honestly Yuuta's muse tended to float about, which lead to quite a few one off ventures that never ceased to bring a small genuine smile to Reiashi's face. But there was something nice about Yuuta actually going all the way with something that made his grin all the larger.
[break][break]
Everyone is born with a unique set of talents and abilities. Not just in combat, but in all aspects of life. Everyone chooses which to nurture, which to set aside for a time, which ignore completely. Few skills were ever needed for one job, and can be used in multiple ways. Yuuta is a man of contradicting talents, not much unlike me. His talents are also spread about and numerous, even if he is unaware of it as many are. Combat is irrelevant here, so it is best to not dwell on it. Socially, his talents lie in cutting through social stigma, neutrality, understanding, constant contradiction, a hard to read nature, a bleeding heart, and a strange morality that allowed him to cut through morality itself.
[break][break]
But how did he use them?
[break][break]
Yuuta, although initially not purposefully, almost always goes out of his way to cut through political speak and decorum. While this does create tension, it also cuts unneeded time and handles the heart of the matter. It is a talent both passively and purposefully fostered, and is among his strongest. Although he has a hard time setting it aside, as I do with my own brain, it is a powerful talent. However like any weapon, if used at the wrong time, it can do more damage than good.
[break][break]
His neutrality is used as an ability to play devil's advocate. It is hard for most to tell when Yuuta is being genuine, and he uses this to his advantage to argue the other side of most debates. Sometimes this is merely to strengthen one's resolve in an idea, and other times it is because Yuuta knows the other person wants to see the bigger picture, and that many people require a mirror to see what their eyes cannot. Rarely does Yuuta argue to change someone's mind if it is important to them. Instead he seeks to help, be it by enforcing what is there, or helping his friends to see what their own views hide.
[break][break]
His understanding is often put to the side, but never fully ignored. His mind does not work my mine, constantly informing him of unfinished tasks, ways to preform optimally, or trying to understand the world around him as vividly as possible. Instead he merely excepts the world, and those within it for how they are. The only time he'll ask why is so he can support those around him. This would also come into play with his later morality.
[break][break]
Just as Yuuta and I are different however, we both share our similarities. A talent we both have is an acceptance and balance of opposites and contradictions. Too often we both find the people of the world cutting everything off into small sections to easily code. While this... may be possible with the physical world, the mental and metaphysical were far to fluid for that to work. While my definitions tend to lean more towards a sense of unseen order and a balance between all of the strange opposites of the world, Yuuta has taken the ability and focused it on an acceptance of and at the same time rejection of balance. It was not that balance didn't exist, just that most people's definition of balance was too rigid to ever actually work. I recall a saying... "Like a spinning disk, the world is constantly turning and wobbling from side to side. It is not predictable and not controlled. But it works anyways." It was a way that had it's uses. Yuuta was rarely phased. It allows him to keep a calm head... well as calm as a man who has neglected the training of discipline can be.
[break][break]
The biggest talent he has is his heart. He has molded it into a double edged sword. His muse is fickle, and he's often floating from thing to thing, much like I do. Unlike me however, Yuuta cannot attach as easily to something. Though we both apply the same amount of focus, to where the rest of the world fades, Yuuta's desires are often fleeting and require multiple visits before he gets attached to them. Still, this has also lead to a Yuuta who wears his heart on his sleeve. Such people who truly do that are rare, and should be cherished. However... such people are also usually immature. A small chuckle would break his lips.
[break][break]
Then there was that last talent... Yuuta's strange sense of morality. Devil-may-care, muted, calm, detached. Many people had many words for it. But that talent has allowed Yuuta to look at things in a way no other can. Somehow he manages to be emotional and cold at once. If someone dies, they die. He will mourn them, and he will let them know they are missed. But the morality of their death, the idea of if anyone was responsible... he seemed to cut through it. Especially idealism. We differ on that front. Yuuta will not hold a grudge at someone for killing an innocent, but will hold a grudge at others for hurting anyone he cares about. He also will cut through the idea that dying with morals intact makes one any better than another. "The worms and fungi do not care what words you spat as you died, nor do they care that you watched others die so that you could feel good about yourself." He certainly had a lot of quotes. It is a strange part of Yuuta's many personality based talents. It had uses, but the more moral side of me hates it. Yet I can never... be mad at Yuuta for it. Yuuta was never mad at me for being moral. He just acknowledged that, more often than not, most morals merely acted to make someone feel better about their actions.
[break][break]
In Reiashi's mind, his heart and caring was the most important one Yuuta fostered. Yuuta's base personality traits were perfect for an unfeeling and dark tactician. Yet in spite of his he fostered and helped his more wild and passionate side to blossom. Yuuta wanted to see everyone grow and change, to stay true to themselves, and to live and let live. He took his talents, made for that of a shinobi, and built them into the idea of a person. Similarly, Reiashi's default traits were perfect for a zealot. Rigid beliefs, a desire for unity and peace, and a drive that caused him to put his bones within everything. Torashi could have been the best solider of the Hidden Leaf Village. Instead he found his opposite and met it. He tempered his passions, blended the various thoughts and ideals that made up both him and the world, and built upon them to make Reiashi; not the best shinobi, but a good individual within the village. That was what they both had in common. It would forever bond them.
[break][break]
Shaking his head, Reiashi would refocus. He needed to find out if Yuuta had actually gone through with his idea.

Konoha's orphanage was unlike any other within Hi no Kuni, an impressive building that could only be found in fantasy novels. The Orphanage sat within the middle of a large grass field, which was once an old training ground, and home to the first Gure to gain citizenship within the hidden leaf. These Gure, Yuuta's great great grandparents had migrated to Hi no kuni years ago and were treated harshly by their peers. The prejudices they faced were deep rooted in those times, with the then Konohagakure leaders reluctantly granting the clan citizenship and a run down plot of land far removed from the native clans of Hi no Kuni. The Gure would eventually tend the land and use their abilities to enrich the dilapidated stretch of land they would call home.

As time went on, leadership of the clan followed strict blood ties, with the title of clan head being passed on to the children of the first Gure family. Under the leadership of Yuuta's grandfather, the Gure clan would become accepted as equal citizens in the eyes of Hi no kuni. The original clan dwelling still stood in the plot of land given to the early Gure all those years ago. Signs of the Gure from then still littered the area, however the most notable one was the lack of walls around the property. Due to the past prejudices the Gure clan weren't given an actual clan compound to themselves. Rather the plot of land they had received was an old training area used by shinobi of a bygone era.

To show off resiliency and defiance, subsequent leaders of the clan had never installed walls or petitioned for a compound to be built. Today's Gure clan have it much easier than they're ancestors; having become valuable assets to Hi no Kuni. A single event had propelled the Gure's status into a prominent clan of the Hidden Leaf. Before Yuuta was born, his grandfather would found the Hidden Leaf's orphanage. Although it wasn't the first within the nation, it was the first within the Hidden Leaf, ultimately becoming the most notable in due time. The selfless act of his grandfather didn't go unnoticed by the Shinobi of the founding clans nor the clanless.

Even though the clan had experienced deplorable prejudices by those considered allies. The Gure clan simply responded by welcoming the abandoned and war orphaned children of their aggressors. The altruism ushered in by Yuuta's grandfather was quite the surprise to most within Hi no Kuni. The now deceased Gure did not do it for praise however, but to offer Konoha's downtrodden, a home and family. Since then, the grandson of the orphanage's founder, Gure Yuuta, has not only kept his grandfather's dream alive but has also added his own touches to the home and plot of land the clan were given.

Upon approaching the area, the first thing one would notice was just how large the Gure's land were; with it being much larger than the compounds of the founding clans. A long yellow brick road snaked its way through the property, directly from the main street to the home, twisting and churning through the massive front yard that was littered with naked sculptures, children toys and various luminescent fungi. Several tree sized mushroom of varying colors rose high above the building itself which seemed exceedingly unremarkable when compared to the whimsical scenery around it.

As one got closer, the building would eventually appear to be quite small despite housing youths of all ages and backgrounds. However, one shouldn't judge the book by its cover as underneath the original building were numerous rooms, halls, bathrooms and even a large cafeteria facility. Over the years, the Gure leaders including Yuuta continued to add to their sprawling underground facilities, eventually creating a home unlike any of the leaf’s founding clans. Entering the home today, one would capture a rare sight of cleanliness and what's that? Relative Silence?

Pigs had to have flown in this day because this couldn't possibly be the home of Gure Yuuta and his batch of vagabonds. Was it even possible? Yuuta alone was the personification of chaos. Had Rei accidentally stumbled into an alternate universe? As he continued downstairs into the actual orphanage and living areas Rei would notice the walls of the orphanage were spotless, kids weren't running amok and Gure Yuuta, his father, inside the man's personal library his tiddies sweating as he dramatized one of his many adventures as a Jounin of the Hidden leaf.

The children surrounding him were captivated by Yuuta's grand tale, as Rei walked into the room he'd hear a song playing for background noise. It was one of Yuuta's favorites tunes called "Half-Prosperous Existence", by Three Doujutsu Blind, an older group from Yuuta’s childhood. "Alright everyone! That's all for today" the children groaned and whined in protest, causing Yuuta to chuckle however, he would not give in. Yuuta made sure to give the children under his care as much time as possible, especially to the younger children.

However when it came to his, the ones he had officially adopted, he would always stop whatever it was he was doing at the time to have family time. Although, he honestly didn't have favorites and cared for the children who lived in the orphanage; his children were the love of his life and he tried his hardest not to show that he cared for them more than he did the others. Luckily, Rei and siblings were understanding and didn't give him shit if he were busy, they understood how hectic things could get.

"Would you like some breakfast Rei? It's been a while since the two of us cooked together. Hehehe, I'll even lift you up to the stove like we used too" Yuuta said, half joking and half serious. Rei had been tall enough to reach the stove on his own for years now. How else did the boy expect Yuuta to act? One of his greatest accomplishment is when he became a father, despite it being the last thing that he ever thought would happen to him… if it ever did.

Reiashi enjoyed the rather cartoonish design of the orphanage. It created a wonderful contrast between what reality had dealt the children. Those left by their parents would question why they weren’t wanted. Others would question if they even had parents to begin with. Some… were all too aware that they once had parents. Those who were adopted would still be haunted by a lack of identity, not to mention the conflicts that were inevitable with being raised by different parents. Their lives have shattered, and now they have to learn to put the pieces back together… including the shards they stepped on. Reiash would look out a window, seeing a mushroom large enough to function as a gazebo. Like it was out of a story book. A perfect place to make them just a bit more comfortable.
[break][break]

Reiashi would continue to let his gaze shift around one of his many many homes. In a way he was a perfect fit for the chaotic lives these kids were leading. The Uzumaki complex. The Aviary. Yuuta’s actual home where he and Reiashi’s other siblings gathered. Then here. So many homes. So many different emotions, memories, and ideals etched into them. Quiet… was not one associated with the orphanage.
[break][break]

Yet it wasn’t as uncommon as one would think. Many called Reiashi’s adoptive father a chaotic leader of misfits. A creature who reveled in chaos. While the latter part wasn’t entirely untrue, Reiashi found it exaggerated into sociopathy, a lack of empathy, and sometimes even outright malicious intent. Generalizing. The shortcut of human interaction. Why understand the complex mechanisms of the lock when you can just break the chest? A slight sky would escape his lips. Enough of that. His father was more accepting of the nature of chaos within the world. It was relaxing. In all honesty, Reiashi could remember several hours of pure silence at his home with Yuuta and his other siblings. The Orphanage was just loud because children aren’t quiet.
[break][break]

Finally entering the room, Reiashi would come into a sweating Yuuta entertaining the kids. They were enthralled. The fast footsteps must have been him going well beyond what was needed to tell the story. As the children were dispersed, Reiashi gave a small chuckle. I wonder what story he was telling this time.

[break][break]
Reiashi gave a small chuckle at Yuuta’s line of lifting Reiashi up to the stove. "I think I’m tall enough now, dad.” Reiashi would quickly shoot it down. Knowing Yuuta there was a chance he’d do it just to get Reiashi to laugh a bit more. "I’m not really hungry. The infants have taken any energy I had for eating.” Reiashi would quip as a joke, as one last lingering child left the room. Bright blue hair. Messy. Grown irregularly. Needs a haircut. Skin is a pale brown- he’s gone. Relax. A rare sight for most people, and an act Yuuta had taken a year to get Reiashi to do- whilst also trying to help him through the loss of his parents-, Konsho’s posture would ever so slightly relax, his large smile returning to it's natural smaller state. "Auntie was willing to give me some snacks before I got here.” Reiashi would explain. Whenever he referred to a family member and didn’t include their name, they tended to be Uzumaki. "Although… it has been a while since we cooked together. Have the children eaten?”

Dum vita est, spes est.

Reiaishi was different then the usual misfits Yuuta raised, though in that aspect he was much like Yuuta himself. The boy was always in his own mind, trying to come to a conclusion as to why a certain thing worked or why something would happen. Yuuta had suspected the young Uzumaki boy was much more talkative in his own head than he was when dealing with his environment. Yuuta was just as inquisitive, if not dangerously more so than Rei. In that instance, Yuuta hoped to Kami that Rei had not taken on Yuuta's undeniable thirst for knowledge. It was like a double edged sword; a great asset to have yet still an urge that could never be sated. "I'm sure the aunts and your uncle, isshiki can take care of that Rei. How about we do something you'd like for a change or we can simply relax today" Yuuta replied to the boy's question about the children eating.

Luckily for them, the entirety of Konoha's Gure clan maintained the orphanage. This included Yuuta's mother, her siblings and his father's siblings and Yuuta's brother, Gure Isshiki. His father on the other hand was another story… One that still plagued Yuuta till this day. It wasn't everyday that Rei wanted to spend time with his father, of course with a father as embarrassing as Yuuta the man couldn't blame either of his children if they wanted to just get away. Yuuta's reputation often preceded him and was more often than not exaggerated. The man did take ownership of his own actions, the way society viewed him was in all honesty, Yuuta's own fault.

After all, there is truth within every rumor… I am what I am... indeed innocent, yet still a monster…

Looking at Rei, the man wanted to do whatever he could to make his children's life easier, at least the more difficult and dangerous aspects of the shinobi experience. The Jounin felt as though he had done an O.K job, however when it came to the nuances of personal connections and mental growth, he wasn't the kind of guy who'd be picked first. At least that's what he thought… The main reason for this was that in Yuuta's eyes, none of his children could do anything wrong. No matter how reputation damaging or illegal the action was. His kids were Just because they were his children. An odd, and rarely seen sense of arrogance on Yuuta's part. The man never bragged or boasted about his own abilities or triumphs. However, this wasn't the case when it came to his children; he held each and every one of them to such a standard that even if they failed Yuuta would simply praise them for how far they had managed to get before failing.

"It's been awhile since we had the chance to catch up, wouldn't you say Rei? Let's go outside and sit in the yard. We can catch up and you can tell me how awesome you've been. After all, you're my son and there's no one that is greater than my children" Yuuta said an out of place sense of haughtiness dripped from his last words. Without letting Rei agree or disagree, Yuuta would exit the room where he had been telling the story and walk towards the stairs that led to the ground floor. He instinctively knew Rei would follow, having been in the boy's life for quite some time. Yuuta however, didn't rush ahead, or consciously decide where they were headed to. Rather, he simply walked and allowed either his legs or Rei to guide them to their next destination.

To see Yuuta interacting with his son, or any of his children for that matter would be shocking to those who knew him. The personification of chaos was in a sense less chaotic than he'd normally appear. This was because Yuuta enjoyed spending time with his children more than anything. "Who would have thought that I of all people would be a father? Not me… but as it is, I can't help but to love my misfits'' the man thought as he walked outside of the orphanage. The two of them stepped onto the sprawling yard that appeared as if it was plucked from one of the orphan's fantasy novels. There was a hidden truth about Yuuta, one that always surfaced within his mind when dealing with any of his adopted kids. He wondered if Rei or his siblings knew that their father never wanted children or thought for that matter that in his lifetime that he would have ties to another person as deep as he does with the kids.

The Yuuta before now viewed such relationships as a weakness. Caring about something or someone opened the door for that something to be taken or destroyed by his enemies. The Gure Yuuta then would have laughed in someone's face had they told him he would have children someday. The Jounin had gone out his way to never create any relationship deeper than a comrade in arms. Despite all of his efforts Yuuta had not only gained friendships among his peers but had also gained several young lives that looked to him for guidance and above all… love. "Grubby little bastards, they did this to me. They've corrupted me… he thought to himself before letting out a small chuckle.

As he thought those words he knew that it wasn't just his children that imprinted onto him but he, himself who had begun to love them as if they were his own. "Well? Where should we relax? You were always fond of the purple mushroom", Yuuta said, mentioning the gigantic deep purple mushroom that grew within the center of the yard. Underneath it were smaller yet still larger than normal mushrooms the orphans and Yuuta used as seats.

Don't judge him okay? Lol

There was a large part of Reiashi that wanted to continue to work with the children. But given the amount of infants he had just dealt with… he couldn't argue relaxing sounded heavenly right now. Plus he didn't get much time with his father, not for a lack of trying. Reiashi almost always had something he wanted to be doing, or a promise to keep. Hopefully Yuuta knew Reiashi wasn't avoiding him.

Besides, it would serve as a good example of rest for the children. Reiashi would rationalize as he nodded along with what his father was saying. "Alright you talked me int- and he’s gone.” With a small bemused chuckle, Reiashi would follow the sound of his father’s footsteps. At first he would follow behind Yuuta, similar to an aid following their boss through their workplace. Soon however… it was fairly obvious they didn’t have a clear destination. Making me choose the destination so that I’m sure to relax… clever as always.

The shadows are pointing directly down from their sources, and are surprisingly short. It is exactly noon at the moment. Soon a small bell would chime, a late alarm for lunch for the children. 12:01 Reiashi’s gaze would slowly move across the yard. one of the kids broke the swing. Rope will need to be replaced. One of the tire swings has been torn apart. I could put that together with the other scraps, make a small sculpture out of it. Maybe in the shape of a horse? It could function as a replacement swing. His father’s suggestion would rouse Reiashi from his workaholic mindset. "That… actually sounds very nice.” The mushroom. He had forgotten all about that. He would ask about it all the time as a child. Reiashi would lead the way, taking slow steps towards the gigantic mushroom. As he entered the shade he’d allow his shoulders to ever so slightly slouch, sitting down on one of the smaller mushrooms. For now he’d just take everything in. Enjoy the moment before they moved onto conversations.
