A figure emerged from the ground, seemingly growing from the soil and forming into the shape of a human. As it continued to form, more details appeared. Colors of white, black and lime-green molded into clothing outlining a lean body, while a white mess of hair and a gas-mask formed to obscure the individuals face. Finally as the jutsu finished, it revealed Okingshi in fullness.

Okingshi let out a deep sigh, audible even through his gas-mask. He had just journeyed from outside his apartment through the ground to the outskirts of Kusagakure. A distance he struggled to travel and just barely made; leaving him slightly exhausted. However this is not why he sighed. Instead he sighed because this was the first time he'd be training since leaving team eight. He began walking toward an opening within the trees, finding himself at the base of a grass knoll.

'This is the perfect place' he thought to himself. He walked to the top of the grass knoll and looked outward, seeing himself alone in all directions. Pulling an arm across his body, and holding it there for a second before doing so with the other. He then began bending backwards, curving his spine forty-five degrees. All of this was necessary to warm up for the training he was about to engaged in.

After completing his regime of stretches, Okingshi slid his hand behind his back and unlatched the scythe 'Silence'; taking the weapon and placing it in front of him to gaze at the blade. For a moment he looked at it, admiring the mould he cultivated along it's length. Taking a more methodical examination of the sharp edge, he noticed it had dulled since the chuunin exam.

Deciding to do something about it, Okingshi moved his hand into his right thigh holster and took out a kunai. Okingshi sat down, crossing his legs while placing the scythe on his lap. With the kunai in his left hand and the scythe in his right, Okingshi pressed the kunai into the scythes blade parallel into one another. In one swift motion, Okingshi pulled the blades across each other, small flecks of mould and steel peeled away as he did so. He did this again and again, over and over many times until the scythe's blade steel gleamed in the sunlight, freshly sharpened.

He took a moment to watch the mould react to being disturbed. It slowly began to grow back in front of his very eyes. He smiled to himself, got up off the ground and put his kunai away.

Okingshi lifted the scythe up in front of him, feeling the weight bare down against his arm as he held it horizontally. It had been a week since he wielded it properly, it felt like forever. While he wasn't very proficient in it's use, he always liked how it felt. He felt a deep connection with it, as if it were an extension of himself. Whether that's because he spent so long cultivating the unique mould that grows from it or because he'd grown accustom to carrying it wherever he went, or maybe both; he did not know. But he knew today would be the day he took the time to increase his skill wielding it.

He stood there for a minute or so, holding the scythe up. Quickly his arm began to strain, and a burning sensation wreaked through his muscles under the seemingly ever increasing weight of the scythe. Okingshi tried to keep it there for as long as he could possibly sustain, before lowering it to his side.

It didnt take long until the pain subsided and Okingshi was ready to begin his training. First Okingshi took a swing and then another, adjusting his grip after each swing to find the perfect hand placement. He took a few more swings, imagining the existence of a target to focus his precision.

'Perfect' he whispered to himself, as he mentally decided he was happy with the outcome of each swing.

After completing his practice swings, Okingshi took a moment to exhale. His breath was deep as he took the time to consider the skill he wanted to learn. As his mind contemplated all the new things he could try, Okingshi lifted the scythe in front of himself once again.

"Spinning is a nice trick" he thought. Whether he could pull it off was another question. He hadn't tried it before, and all he had was a rough idea of how to do it. Okingshi took a moment to visualise what it would require; each complicated hand and finger movement needed to get the scythe in motion.

"It can't be that difficult" Okingshi mused. As he lightened his grip on the scythe's handle, Okingshi twisted his wrist to the left. The scythe followed his movement, swinging to the side more than ninety degrees until he snapped his wrist back. The weight of the blade jeered with the motion, the not wanting to lose it's momentum as Okingshi forced it to stop.

Okingshi sighed again. If he was to get the scythe to spin, he'd have to let it go while using the momentum and weight of it to complete the full three and sixty degree turn.

Taking from the experience of his last attempt, Okingshi was ready to try again. This time he'd aim to go the full three hundred and sixty degrees. He spent a second to brace himself then turned his wrist. As he rotated it, the scythe began to swing anti-clockwise. Once it had reached ninety degrees, Okingshi opened his hand completely to let the weapon move freely.

The scythe spun against the palm of his hand, having just enough momentum to keep it firmly in place. At first Okingshi felt confident the weapon would continue its circle, until in front of his very eyes it lost it's speed, stopped at two hundred and twenty degrees; falling swiftly to the ground.

A thud could be heard as the metal hit the firm soil next to his feet. He glared down at his prized possession laying there, still yet undamaged. What could only be described as a disappointed frown appeared on his face, although one wouldn't know it, being hidden beneath his gas-mask.

'What am I doing wrong? Okingshi asked himself as he bent down and picked the weapon up. He squeezed the grip tightly, while he internally discussed with himself what went wrong. He was going to perfect spinning it today, no matter what.

Okingshi pondered quietly to himself as he straighten his back to adjust his stance. His mind raced, contemplating how many failures he would have to endure before turning it into a success. His technique obviously needed improvement, but where; perhaps putting more strength and speed into the angular momentum is just what it needed, he thought to himself.

He raised the weapon in front of his body for the third time, readying it to try again. For a moment he stood there, imagining a successful spin and how he'd preform it. He had no confidence he could do it, but that wouldn't stop them. Seconds later he went ahead, twisting his wrist faster and harder than before. Again opening his hand as the handle became parallel with the ground.

The moment he opened his palm the scythe spun rapidly, making one full circle and then began another. Okingshi tried to grasp the handle as it was about too complete the second rotation but his timing was off and the scythe rolled off the side of his palm into the air. Okingshi's gaze fixated on the weapon as it twisted and turned, flying higher and higher above the tree tops to his dismay.

In an instant Okingshi hands flew up to his gas-mask. His jaw dropped into a shocked face beneath it as he watch on utterly horrified. The weapon continue to soar through the sky, into the tree line; where it fell leaving his view. It took a moment for what had happened to sink in, before he begun running in the direction it went.

He frantically jumped into the bushes, which had he not been wearing his coat would have scratched and cut him. Upon landing, Okingshi fell onto a branch, breaking it and causing a loud snapping sound. He quickly got up from the ground and brushed himself off, checking to make sure the snap he heard was just a branch. Once he assessed himself, looking for any injuries; Okingshi observed the area around him, searching for this scythe. He couldn't see it anywhere, so he ventured deeper into the shrubbery. The shrubbery was thick in this section of the trees, and made it difficult to see the natural colors of the mould covered weapon.

He continued his search for several minutes, but too no avail. Despair was beginning  to wreak havoc on his thoughts, believing he'd never find it again.

Panic struck, Okingshi continued to search the area. With each passing minute he became even more visibly distressed, walking back and forth, checking places he had already checked once and even twice. He was losing his mind not just figuratively but literally as well. He scurried along the forest floor like a mouse, looking at even the smallest details that could possibly provide a hint to the scythe's location.

Trying to avoiding the thorns, sharp brushes and other obstacles that blocked his path, Okingshi sunk into pessimism. His mind was still completely overwhelmed by negitive thoughts, considering the possibility he would never find his weapon again and with each passing moment, that felt even more true to the boy.

As he began to give up, his vision started to blur... the colors of the forest began to seep into one another. A assortment of greens, yellows, browns and reds washed into each other, making new colors. His mind wandered as his eyes followed several of the color combinations bleeding vibrantly into a diamond shape. Other strange geometric shapes started to manifest as well; twirling, morphing and then evolving into even more exotic ones. He was enthralled by the ever changing shapes and colors until a small white orb floating midair took his attention. This orb quickly buzzed around his field of vision, until it finally hit him in the forehead. The force of which caused him to close his eyes and fall flat onto his back.

Okingshi laid there for what seemed forever, enjoying the soft patch of grass he had landed on. While there, he meditated with his eyes closed, letting his mind focus on what he just experienced. He tried to calm down, struggling with it at first but eventually overcoming it.

'Was that a fairy?' he asked himself. 'No, it was probably just those poisonous mushrooms' he continued. Referencing the ones he ate earlier that day. But not even a second later, as if on cue, a sharp pain shot through his stomach. A painful ache, enough to cause him to writhe on the ground. He held onto stomach, it was a terrible pain. He heaved as if about to throw up, forcing him to remove his gas-mask. This continued several times until he eventually threw up his stomach contents. The contents splattered onto the ground, revealing what he had for breakfast. As quickly as it came, the pain was gone and Okingshi felt relieved.

As he recovered, he opened his eyes and looked up toward the tree canopy. Okingshi reapplied his gas-mask. As his eyes focused, adjusting to the light, low and behold, there was his scythe stuck high in a tree between two branches. Okingshi grinned wide, praising his luck. As soon as he could, he shot up onto his feet ready to attempt to retrieve it.

The tree loomed over Okingshi as he stepped closer to it. He found the sheer size and scale a little daunting. Nevertheless he'd attempt to climb it. Having had some experience climbing back when his step-father threw him into the Hole, Okingshi knew he'd at first have to evaluated the possibilities, looking carefully for any hand holds he could find. The tree wasn't very forgiving, with little to choose from; the closest hold being several meters high.

Okingshi backed up away from the tree, readying himself for the leap. He whispered words of motivation to himself, even if he didn't believe he could do it. Deciding enough with the procrastination, Okingshi ran toward the tree and jumped toward his target. To get there, he need to land his foot on an angle against it and push himself further up; which he successfully managed. This push allowed him to make the extra distance to the hand hold.

However as he gripped the bark, the dry and brittle material instantly crumbled in his fingers. As his weight bore down on it, he started to fall. Okingshi scratched at the bark in a moment of fear, looking for any more holds but there was none to find. Gravity continued to pull him down until he hit the ground, landing on his back hard.

From the moment he impacted the ground a wave of kinetic energy reverberated through his body, dissipating most of the damage. However his back took the brunt force, injuring it in the process. As he tried to move, an almost unbearable pain exploded through his spine. "Ah, my back!?" Okingshi groaned. He squirmed his legs to be sure he hadn't paralysed himself. A sigh of relief passed his lips as he was reassured he hadn't. Okingshi lent up, deeply inhaling, smacking his lips into a hissing sound as the pain erupted again. Clutching his back and fighting through the pain, Okingshi climbed to his feet; cursing his luck as he did.

He stood there for a moment bent over, readying himself for another burst of pain. Teasing the pain by swinging lightly back and forth before snapping his back straight. Okingshi let out a bellowing scream as he suffered another moment of agony. He kept bending backwards, grunting as he curved his spine, pushing himself through the pain to try to shrug it off. It wasn't long until the pain had subsided into a rather uncomfortable tenderness. While it wasn't ideal, it was something he could manage through as he returned to the task of recovering his scythe.

Okingshi looked up at the weapon, gleaming bright as the sunshine poured through the canopy onto it's freshly sharpened steel. He stood there pondering what else he could try, there were several ideas that came to his mind, but none so clear as using his kekkai genkai to create climbing holds out of mushrooms. While it would take time to prepare, it was a reasonable choice to try, he thought.

Closing his eyes and molding his chakra, without a moment of hesitation he swung his arm at the trunk of the tree, hitting it as hard as he could. Instantly a puff of spore particles exploded from his forearm. He momentary grit his teeth from the impact, as his arm turned red and the flesh tendered. This was only the first step to his plan, but the hardest part was now over.

He watched on as the cloud of spores slowly expanded outward, spreading over and covering a third of tree before the rest settled on the ground below him. Okingshi rubbed his slowly bruising arm as he smiled, quite pleased with himself at the clever usage of the Spore Scattering technique. He had never thought of using it like this before now.

Having let spores completely settled, Okingshi preformed two quick successive handseals then pressed his hand against the tree. He channelled his chakra outward across the bark and ground in a ten meter radius, the spores he'd previously dispersed begun to react. In front of his very eyes a wide variety of mushrooms burst into existence, growing at an exponential rate. Angel Wing and oyster mushrooms clung to the side of the tree, while different types of capped mushrooms nd puffballs grew below him. All with different colors and sizes. One particular puffball grew underneath his feet a meter wide.

With the mushrooms grown, Okingshi now had enough hand holds to make it to the first branch and in reaching distant of the scythe. He eagerly scurried to climb them, the first few he had little trouble with, even a novice could climb. They were large and stable enough to hold his weight. But as he climb further and further up, the mushrooms became smaller and not as secure. He became more cautious as he climbed, choosing his holds carefully. This however was a frugal attempt, as a mushroom his hand was gripping couldn't support his weight and ripped out of the tree trunk. This sent him falling again, four meters onto the cushioning puffball below.

The puffball may have comforted his fall, but his body was still aching and sore all over from the constant failures. He sighed exhausted, laying there for some time to recover his stamina and persist on with the task. He questioned his brilliant idea, which turned out to not be so brilliant. After which he spent the next few minutes quietly debating to himself what he should try next. He had remembered the concept of tree climbing technique; using one's chakra to adhere their feet to vertical surfaces.

Okingshi raised off his mushroom bed, removing his coat and throwing it on the ground. All the falling had made the white material dirty and damp. It would just weigh him down if he continued wearing it, he thought.

He closed his eyes and formed the tiger handseal. Concentrating hard on gathering his chakra into a fine point, letting it swirl and coalesce into his feet. Okingshi knew chakra control was never his forte, but this was a simple task compared to his kekkai genkai techniques. He continued molding his chakra for a few moments until these thoughts of inadequacy snapped his concentration, releasing the technique. So he knew if he was to perform the technique, he'd have to focus harder.

Okingshi closed his eyes, trying to concentrate again. 'Focus, focus' he thought to himself. Falling into the deep meditation, he once again interlocked his hands into the tiger seal and began molding chakra into his feet. As it slowly pooled there a strange sensation swirled in his soles. He felt ready to try, hoping he could hold his concentration and preform the technique.

Opening his eyes and staring at the tree's trunk, Okingshi bent over into a running stance before quickly launching into a sprint toward it. With each step closer, he felt a slight amount of chakra leave his feet. However this didn't deter him, remaining focused even as his confident was slipping. He approached the base of the tree in a haste and then with one large stride, Okingshi's foot hit the tree, adhering to it. With the first step made, he made successive steps, than another and another. 'It was working' he mused. A few strides more and Okingshi was half way up the trunk, higher than he managed before. He jumped away from the tree, attempting a backflip as he felt the last of his chakra extinguish from his feet. He smiled as he sailed through the air, landing safely onto this feet.
