[googlefont=Cinzel] Important People of Nohara no Kuni Name: Hirano Tetsuo Age: 65 Status: Single, no immediate family Occupation: Daimyo of Nohara no Kuni Residence: Hohei-chō Affiliation: Nohara no Kuni, Hohei Clan Traits and Persona: Much like the Hohei who follow him, Tetsuo is a fierce and contentious man. And like the Daimyos before him, he takes great pride in Nohara no Kuni and its ashigaru, keeping Kusagakure and its shinobi system primarily out of necessity. Despite his propensity towards aggression, he is still astute and wise, all of his decisions revolving around the desire to protect and nurture the people of his nation. He is a maddeningly independent leader, often completely dismissing the counsel of his advisors and making decisions based on his own whims and experiences. To the frustration of his constituents, the Daimyo has yet to marry and bear any heirs, leaving many of his supporters worried what may come should he suffer an untimely death. Background: Tetsuo was born in the year 957, the first son of the previous Daimyo, Hirano Takahiro. His early years were spent primarily on preparing him to one day take his father's place. His lessons consisted of the basic subjects, but also included the basics of law, statecraft, and military tactics. When Tetsuo hit the age of 20, in the year 977, the Third Shinobi War begun. This was convenient timing as Takahiro knew that no Daimyo could be respected by the people if they had not gained some amount of military experience. Takahiro appointed Tetsuo as an officer of an entire ashigaru company, though he ensured that company was stationed in a relatively safe location, well behind the front lines and defended by shinobi. Still, Tetsuo's tenure accomplished its job spectacularly, earning him the respect of most, if not all, of Nohara no Kuni's people. In the year 990, the Third Shinobi War came to an end along with Tetsuo's time as a mere military officer. Takahiro had become quite elderly and he was ready to give the position of Daimyo to his son. Since then, Tetsuo has been faithfully ruling over Nohara no Kuni as its Daimyo, overseeing several appointments of Kusagakure Lords, especially during the more recent years of his term. The unreliableness of these Kusagakure leaders has shaken Tetsuo's faith in the shinobi system, though he still understands its importance. Name: Hori Taro Age: Late 30's (??) Status: Single, and very much looking to mingle Occupation: Merchant Residence: Hohei-chō Affiliation: Independent Traits and Persona: A true merchant, Taro is silver-tongued silver fox who expands his trade network with the use of his friendly personality, charming charisma, and shrewd business skills. He is a single man by choice, which supports his tendency to be a bit of a philanderer. Taro refuses to engage in any illegal activities, but will otherwise buy and sell just about anything to anyone so long as it will turn a profit. He dislikes violence and most things related to it, but begrudgingly accepts that it is simply a natural part of living in this world and so relies on the hiring of shinobi for all his defensive needs. Background: It's known that Taro was born sometime around 984, though it's impossible to get a true year from the man himself. He was born in Bird Country to two wealthy parents who ensured he got a top notch education. When he was old enough to strike out on his own, he actually had many business ventures in an assortment of nations, ranging from Tsuchi no Kuni to Hi no Kuni. In the last decade or so, however, Taro has decided to focus his efforts in Nohara no Kuni instead, the relative peacefulness of the world making its central location and flat terrain stellar for housing all of his future trade ventures. Name: Higuchi Tsuya Age: 30 Status: Married, 2 children Occupation: Head of Religious Affairs Residence: Kusagakure no Sato Affiliation: Hohei Clan, Daimyo's Court Traits and Persona: A cold, calculating woman, Tsuya has been in her position for 8 years, barely taking time off to even rear her children. Tsuyu has an unfailing loyalty to the Daimyo like the rest of the Hohei clan, and should she suspect someone of even potentially betraying him they will find themselves at the mercy of her wrath. She is one of the Daimyo's many advisors, though like the rest he rarely heeds her advice. Instead, he gives her a surprising amount of autonomy and power, allowing her to work directly with the shinobi system to carry out her duties. These duties mostly involve keeping track of the various activities of religions and religious individuals within Nohara no Kuni, and acting to ensure they don't cause trouble or get out of hand. Background: Tsuyu was born in 992 in Kusagakure no Sato to unimpressive members of the Hohei clan. She led a relatively normal life for a Hohei, training to use basic weaponry and graduating from the academy before pursuing a career in government administration. She rose her way through the ranks before being recommended to be one of the Daimyo's advisors in 1013, which she happily accepted. It was during her years as the Head of Religious Affairs that Tsuyu met her husband, a chuunin of Kusagakure no Sato. They worked closely together and respected each other before quickly falling in love, eventually having 2 children, one in 1015 and the other in 1017. Her career as the Head of Religious Affairs has been fairly uneventful, but she still takes the job seriously, very aware that dangerous religious individuals with unnatural abilities could cause significant problems for the nation if left to their own devices. Name: Matsui Michi Age: 33 Status: Married, 4 children Occupation: Hohei Soldier, Gashira [Head], War Council Member Residence: Kusagakure no Sato Affiliation: Hohei Clan, Kusagakure no Sato Traits and Persona: Michi bears the same undying loyalty most Hohei have towards their glorious Daimyo, though he also sports a more jovial attitude than his fanatical peers. He is a soldier by trade, and he stands out as a respected local leader for the ashigaru in and around Kusagakure no Sato. He is also a loving husband and father of four children, a great deal of his efforts going towards providing security for his family. Michi is easily the most, if not the most, experienced soldier of the Hohei clan who still serves with the rank and file of the ashigaru, refusing promotion into the officer ranks of the clan. He firmly believes he is best suited for working down in the thick of things, leaving all the stuffy paper-work and bureaucracy to those better suited for those tasks. It's because of this philosphy that Michi can be a much more useful well of knowledge for those seeking information on the more mundane happenings of the Hohei Clan. Background: Michi was born in 987 during the back end of the Third Shinobi War. He had a bit of a tough life growing up in the aftermath of such a destructive conflict, but aside from that his story is one free of exceptional deeds. Like all Hohei are expected to, he learned combat skills as soon as he was able, entering into Kusagakure's shinobi system and finding that he was decently skilled in the ninja arts. Michi climbed the ranks at a slow pace, plateauing in skill when he became a tokubetsu jounin. It was during his time as a simple operations team member that he met and fell in love with his wife, Tani Aki. They served together as equals for many years before Michi was promoted to both a Gashira and a War Council Member. This increase in status and pay prompted the two to get married and begin their family, a family which has been growing steadily and prosperously for nearly a decade now. |
