Tori no Kuni featured a small orphanage with an adjacent medical facility. The buildings rested over top of a canal with adobe walls, a wooden bridge to connect them and green shrubs that walled the yards off. The clinic itself was two stories, inside the first floor featured rows of hospital beds with privacy screens set up between them. There was a little tea table inside a half-room resting in double bay windows, somewhere that Kazutoshi (Hotaru’s alias) had entertained Natsuki before. Near the entrance there was an elevator with a hand crank next to a staircase that led up into Kazutoshi’s office and bedroom.

These days, the clinic mostly ran itself. He’d taught several of the orphans who hadn’t found homes medical knowledge until they reached adulthood, and several more how to administrate the orphanage. There were other things he had to do now, but he still checked in on them and had asked others like Natsuki to do so by letter.

Today was one of the days that Hotaru had come back to Tori to check in on his facilities and to pay the bills for them. Taking on the role of Kazutoshi once again for a day, although he felt like it would soon be too dangerous for him to return here and risk jeopardizing the children with his presence.

Making his way across the canal, he saw a lot of the children gathered around in the yard behind the orphanage from afar, but the building blocked his vantage so he couldn’t see exactly what the focus of their attention was. He approached slowly, even though he had been the proprietor of the establishment, he kept himself somewhat distant from the children to the best of his abilities. There was a popular game that permeated the orphanage trying to see his whole face uncovered.

Fortune is Not Universal

I Will Be There for the Lesser

Further and further from her home country as of late… With Bird Country a place she visited relatively often. A ‘friend’ of hers with somewhat similar values and desires had set up a orphanage for children within those lands and it was always fantastic to see how it was thriving. They took care of their own, as much as they could, and then gained help from those trusted to be among them. Natsuki had been asked to be one of those people, her own watchfulness and care towards the lesser fortunate gaining some attention from the man that influenced the place.

It wasn’t often she arrived, but she always came with a smile to her lips and a little bit of trouble and energy to her presence. Children were amusing to be among, and those that were taking care of themselves in this rough world? Deserved a laugh. They were still children after all. So when the day was done of more pressing medical desires, or assisting in the kitchen, or even simply cleaning up for the day, breaks could be had among the mass bedlam.

A game of what Kazutoshi’s appearance might be was always a favorite~ Drawings had turned up among the orphanage of guesses. Young children likely went for his coverings. But the most ‘magical’ of all was that brief amusement when one of the ninja ladies would entertain the shenanigans.

Natsuki didn’t hide her skills when it came to her past shinobi life. Perhaps a danger to herself and a way to track such a location, she was at least confident enough that the past she left behind wouldn’t have troubled such an orphanage… It was those skills though that were employed. A changing of her features, [Henge], and a familiar sort of form to that of Kazutoshi. Similar garb to what she could remember of him and with facial features always shown, but always overdone. Too big of a nose, eyes that bulged or were tiny specks. Lips that came out to far, then a puff of smoke to shift to a fully bearded man…

The game played on. Any time the kids would giggle and laugh their ‘no’s about how that couldn’t be how he looked, a brief bit of smoke to shade away changes and then a new Kazutoshi to behold.

"This one seems right though!”

Nose far too long, sticking her nose up to the air and eyes closed in a pompous pose with hands on each of her hips. Giggles and laughs from about those gathered around and playing that game. It was then that he caught Natsuki’s eye. A faint tilt of her head as she wasn’t quite sure it was him at first, but through a brief activation of glorious black irises, it was all too clear through those details that it was the one and the same [Second Stage Tennogan].

"I got it, I got it. This hits the mark.”

Another puff of smoke and she was crossing her arms. A disapproving scowl on her face with features that were very similar to his own, a copy of his outfit that he approached in, but the features that were always covered and hidden away were enhanced… A huge chin and a face that was normally smooth and lovely had accented lines and overly masculine features. Grumpy and huffing, with a brief wink towards the man that kept his own odd distance despite his large heart.
