Staring out into the forest suspiciously, Kaori stared at the greenery as her tail flickered back and forth. Something was out there, she was sure of it! She had been out exploring, as she often did when she was bored, when she heard a strange noise nearby. Upon investigating and crawling through a hole she noticed in a fence, she came upon a somewhat hidden grove. Naturally once she found this, it was up to her to investigate and see what was up. Wasn’t like she had much better to do.

Leaping up into a nearby tree on all fours, Kaori tilted her head. With each and every new sound cropping up, her ears would flicker, aiming to pinpoint the source. It was a challenge, since it was still relatively early in the morning. Birds were chirping and a small breeze was blowing through the area. A nice picturesque experience, but not one she really cared for at the moment. It was just making it harder to track down the source of the sound she had heard.

The noise had been somewhat of a thudding sound, something heavy no doubt. Probably some kind of animal if she had to guess, a somewhat large one too since she heard it all the way from the position. A boar maybe? Either way she wanted to find it. Then….well she didn’t know what she would do. She had to find it first anyways! Staring down at her hands, Kaori unsheathed her claws momentarily before nodding in satisfaction. Thankfully her transformation was holding up, but until she mastered it, it was quite sporadic. She never knew when she’d be forced to transform back into her weapon form. But such was the way of things, so she didn’t bother worrying about it. What ever happens happens.

The next hour passed by quickly with the young girl leaping from tree to tree and exploring. The whole experience was actually quite fun, and halfway through traveling she even forgot her whole reason for coming out here. Once she remembered, she decided to pursue the sound more seriously, even if quite a bit of time had passed. The grove was somewhat small, and she had the whole day free. As long as she kept up the search, she would find what she was looking for. Whatever that happened to be.

Unfortunately for her, the source of the noise found her before she found it. And as she was leaping from one branch to the next, Kaori found herself slapped out of the air and hurtling towards the ground below. Thudding into the soil in her shuriken form, Kaori stared at the large feline above her grumpily. Currently it was sniffing the air around her in a confused manner, probably wondering where she went. Cracking her neck mentally, she concentrated on transforming once again. Now that she knew where the feline was, there was no way she’d be hit again!

Groaning to herself and transforming once more, Kaori stared at the panther balefully.

"Do you mind not hitting me anymore? It’s kind of a pain transforming back and forth.”

Looking at her amusedly, the panther circled around Kaori in a languid manner, patting her softly with its paw before meowing. Hissing at the panther in annoyance, the young girl examined the creature in front of her closely. Judging from the whole ordeal she had gone through in the past few minutes, this panther had some modicum of intelligence. Suspiciously so. It didn’t really act like a wild animal and it enjoyed toying with her, much to her exasperation. Thankfully it had finally stopped, but only after it got bored of messing with her.

Shaking her head, Kaori turned her back on the animal and headed home, no longer in the mood to play. She was quite tired, as the series of back to back transformations had taken a lot out of her. She wasn’t too concerned with the panther attacking her from behind either. One, it wouldn't do much to her true form and two, it didn’t seem particularly hostile. All the hits she received had been with sheathed claws, her transformation was just pitifully weak. That was really the only reason she was forced to transform back.

As she walked step by step, she noticed the panther following her. Brazenly at that. Any attempt to shoo it off would result in it rolling its eyes. Kaori only realized that she had a problem the moment she arrived at her front door, with the panther still in tow. Scratching her head, Kaori thought about the situation for a whole ten seconds before shrugging her shoulders. It seemed peaceful enough, so she wasn’t going to worry about making it leave. Opening her door and letting the panther inside, she headed into the kitchen to make herself some food. Maybe she’d give some to her new pet if she felt generous.

Turning her head to the panther as she walked, Kaori rubbed her chin for a bit before finally speaking. "Your name will be Momo for now. Dunno if you even plan on staying though.” As Momo leapt on her couch and curled up into a ball, Kaori let out a sigh. At least she wouldn’t be alone now?
