High noon, sun shining, temperatures and nerves peaked as a certain bodyguard contemplated the actions he was about to take: fighting the man who had tasked him with protecting him. Bandits, crime lords, and rogue shinobi were one thing and while they had provided good tests for his skills it wasn't enough for the chunin to feel confident in where he believed he was at. Rarely did he have an opportunity to utilize his abilities to the fullest due to outside factors that kept him from focusing purely on the task at hand, whether that be people or places that would become collateral damage it was all a distraction. If he wanted to be the best and protect the best he had to go up against them with clear mind and not having to worry about anyone and what more trouble they were possibly getting themselves into; and foolish as this may have looked there was no one better to ask than Takato.

There's was an interesting dynamic that took many forms and probably still had more to go, but Asahi had been in service of the Kage since his promotion and it may have been the biggest reason that the man agreed to such a request. Granted, wanting to see if the people assigned to protect him were capable of doing so was perhaps his reasoning for agreeing as well. Whatever the reason, the time and date had been set and even when the man would show up Asahi would still be a little surprised.

One of the isolated training fields was the chosen destination, complete with both flat land and shifting dunes of sand that would serve as an excellent backdrop for their spar. Truth be told the chunin wasn't sure just how well he would fair as he thought back to the final round of his chunin exams and being pitted against a literal jinchuriki which, ironically, had not been his first run in with one though they shared the same penchant for putting the young man in dangerous situations. Speaking of... that would be something he'd have to handle sooner or later, but for now his mind was focused purely on the task at hand: fighting the Kazekage.

Grains of sand crunched beneath his steps as the Kazekage made his way towards the training field. He was calm, quiet, his body slowly getting back to a pace that had been but a distant memory. How long had it been the last time since he had sparred, let alone seen battle? It seemed like a lifetime ago when he had been under the pouring rain fighting men from the north or in a derelict square battling what he could only describe as a demon. Fighting had been much part of his early life as a shinobi and at first when he had risen to be the Kazekage he had convinced himself that he didn't missed that.

He lied to himself. Beneath the politician, beneath to conciliator, the impresario, he had enjoyed being a warlord. He had enjoyed the thrill of combat, the cerebral aspect of conflict, the satisfaction of outwitting an enemy. There was fear, because he could not never ignore it. It always remained lurking, but he knew to control it. As he reached the training yard amidst the sand dunes he would find one the one that cited him to be here. "You have an interesting concept of bodyguarding by attacking me, Asahi."

Takato remarked in an amused tone. Hands behind his back, gourd levitating next to him as he awaited the usual bow and greeting. If he were to say that he wasn't surprised he would be lying. Asahi didn't seem the one to try to fight him. Learn from him yes, but that other part no. Still he was pleasantly surprised from the invitation of combat and the opportunity to shake out some of the rust that had accomulated from his lack of exertion. "Are you ready?" He asked gently.

Even before the man came into view his unique chakra signature pinged Asahi's sensory network, or rather, unique in the sense of how large it was. Granted, being around the Kazekage for extended periods of time did allow him to get a more personal feel for his chakra signature; same with a certain other member of his family, and aside from his own parents they were the only people he could say that about. Usually a skill like that was reserved for shinobi far more experienced than him, and truth be told if Takato wasn't moving at the steady yet leisurely pace that he was Asahi wouldn't have been able to tell that it was him. It was one of the many things that the young man needed to improve upon before he felt confident in his abilities being ready enough for the next level.

Alas, speculation and theorizing was nothing like practical experience and by days end he would know exactly where his skills as a shinobi stood. Once the Kage reached his resting spot Asahi would offer a reverent bow as even an upcoming battle wasn't enough of an excuse to bypass decorum and if there was one thing Takato enjoyed --if you could call it that-- it was decorum. His words made the situation seem more dire than it was though going up against a Kage was not something to ever be taken lightly. "I... need to make sure I'm doing the best I can in that regard." The chunin replied with a heavy breath. There was no decent way to make light of what was about to happen and anything less than a deadly serious attitude would end things quickly.

Spectacled eyes focused on the leader before him as he readied himself for what was to come. Since the moment Takato agreed Asahi had been thinking of a strategy and to say it was a near impossible task was an understatement. Too much distance between them and the iron sand would block everything he threw at him. Too close and.. well, Asahi's strong suit had never been taijutsu, so mid range it was. He'd have to work to keep the man off balance to mitigate the sheer difference in strength.

"I am." He replied with a nod before quickly completing a set of seals and taking a deep breath. He'd then unleash a rapidly moving stream of fire aimed at Takato. If there had been more than sand around it would have caught on fire, but thankfully the only thing that could ignite was the intended target, assuming it hit of course.

DESCRIPTION:
Fire Release and Wind Release chakra are both saturated in the lungs as the user inhales. The user will then exhale a powerful flamethrower-like stream from their mouth, igniting targets in a sudden wildfire. This fire may not be as destructive as most Fire Release techniques, nor does it cut or buffet its targets as expected of Wind Release techniques, but its true strength lies in its incredible speed; the Wind Release chakra simultaneously fans and expands the fire as it’s exhaled, resulting in the creation of a rushing stream of fire that can reach its targets almost immediately after being released.

Protocol was cast aside. Custom was ignored. This surprised Takato. He knew Asahi, he knew the boy that was polite, a straightforward shinobi. This sleight of hand was surprising and unexpected. Old customs came to live, flared up by the feeling of battle. Chakra molding within him, fingers moving as the gourd of sand came to live and the slithering sound of shifting sands emerged. Rather than a usual nebulae that he would surround himself with in the middle of battle, but a wave that came forth and formed a shield at his beckoning, placing itself before the hellish flames of his technique.

He could feel the heat. Sweat began to appear in beads on his skin, rolling down his forehead. A smile, appeared on his lips. Fingers in a hand flicking, the arm moving as thin clouds of iron formed, pebble-like objects were born like stars inside a celestial cluster as more grains drifted in, attracted by magnetism to each other until the projectiles were formed. Takato wasn't trying to be accurate here, he was trying to put some pressure back into his guard. Suddenly both clouds released their content.

No crack of detonation announced the fusillade. Only the eerie whistle of dark objects cutting through the hot air of the desert. They flew towards Asahi, he counted on the boy to look upon them and make a decision. Either submit himself to be struck and possibly end the contest too soon, or leave his attack and retreat. As the sand from the shield began to turn blazing red from the head, another flick of his hand game by as sand was redirected, given a new purpose as it began to accumulate around his feet in a quick motion, as he prepared for the next stage of combat.

NAME: Satetsu no Tate [Iron Sand Shield]

DESCRIPTION:
A rather simple yet powerful technique, the surrounds himself in sand, either in the for of a in shapeless form that is aimed to intercept incoming strikes or in a layered sphere of Iron Sand compressed to such an extent that it becomes as hard as stone. It is also capable of repairing surface damage by shifting the Iron Sand over a flaw in it's defense, making it an incredibly useful technique. There is one rather large flaw however, in that the user's visibility is completely null when inside the sphere of Iron Sand.

DESCRIPTION:
A gunshot-like attack which uses Iron Sand hardened into minuscule grains to attack simultaneously across a range of thirty-five meters. The bullets are incredibly difficult to see but not impossible. The moment the user has finished preparing the attack, evading it becomes extremely difficult. Using the repellent force of magnetism, the speed of the bullets is rapidly increased after they are shot. Furthermore, the user can also use an attack pattern where the Iron Sand bullets are shaped into sharp needles, increasing their ability to wound or kill the opponent.

Jiton Mastery

Being an Oonakayama in more than name, Takato is master of Jiton, by combining both Raiton and Doton he can create magnetic fields through which he can control and manipulate any metal he touches, namely in his case Iron Sand, for which he is renown in the world. His ability to give shape to the Sand into various weapons and defensive constructs are a testament to his tremendous skill, that make him a difficult opponent to fight due the nature of the Iron Sand.


Enhanced Reflexes

Despite not being a great Taijutsu user, Takato has developed keen reflexes and sharp eye to hand coordination. This allows him to react faster to attacks in order to prevent him from sustaining injuries. In tandem his attacks and counterattacks are also shown to be rather fast as well and effective with just a quick look he knows where his next move will be directed at.



High Chakra Reserves

Born with a powerful chakra, Takato was blessed with greater chakra reserves than those of a normal shinobi. With this he can fight longer than most and use chakra taxing techniques with greater frequency than most fighters. While this means that at the same time that he cannot use chakra in a more precise way the quantity he has compensates for the finesse he lacks making prolonged battles something he can endure.


Tactician

Takato is a man that keep his calm during combat. Whether it is on the defensive or offensive he always has in mind a back up plan for where things don't go as he had foreseen. It was his tactical mindset that allowed him to lead the men and women under his command during the Ame-Suna conflict to achieve victory. During combat he tends to analyze the abilities of his opponent to find a weakness and then exploit it while also understanding and using the environment to his advantage. While for the normal observer his defensive and offensive patterns are hopelessly random for others his tactics are brilliantly conceived.

Asahi had been quite fond of that technique since it helped him get over the somewhat limited range of his Shakuton orbs in addition to just how fast it moved and the power it held, but of course resting on the laurels of what a technique could do when it actually hit its target was one thing, and watching it be stopped by a shield of iron sand was something completely different. The chunin knew that he would have to deal with Takato's bread and butter sooner rather than later but it was always awe inspiring to see it in person, though a little less considering he'd have to be fighting against it this time around.

Chances were he'd run out of chakra before getting through that barrier and to make matters worse it looked like the man was beginning to start his counter in the form of a couple dark 'clouds beginning to form above his area. Cutting off his attack, the chunin would dart to his right as the rain of iron sand began to close in on his position doing his best to evade them which with their numbers was going to prove difficult but given the distance between them not impossible. Well this was already going swimmingly. Stay too far away and nothing would even reach Takato while also having to deal with long range attacks, get in close and still have to deal with the iron sand defense. With that said a good portion of the Kyokujitsu's arsenal was designed for close combat so at some point he was going to have to turn up the pressure. First, however, he wanted to see just how durable that wall of iron sand truly was.

A set of seals would precede futon natured chakra kneading in the chunin's gut before releasing four powerful blasts of wind at Takato. They were strong enough to cause blunt damage but Asahi didn't expect them to even reach him, no, he fully expected the shield of iron sand to come up and block his attack. He had picked a hell of a time to start testing out theories but hey, no time like the present.

After the formation of the Bird hand seal, the Shinobi will knead chakra in their gut. From there, the chakra will be formed into one to six orbs. When expelled, these orbs move with enough concussive force to knock the wind out of its targets. With enough power to dent wood, a hit from one these bullets to the head is enough to render a man unconscious.

Heat had fused the iron grains into a single, brittle slab. So when the invisible strike had come, it did collapse, shrapnel flying towards where the Kazekage was. Where he had been as above, standing on a thin sheet of metal, gave shape by his will, given purpose to save him from an indecorous death for both lord and liege. Arms crossed before his chest as Takato surveyed the battle from above. Not from contempt but out of practicality. Quietness settled into the battlefield as the Kazekage had bought himself some seconds of reprieve.

Seconds was all that he required. Flicker of fingers gave the silent command as the nebulae of surrounded him like a constellation that glittered under the light of a nascent sun. Another mere gesture gave form to his stratagem as the nebulae expanded on the heavens, grains compacting into a pellets. It fell down, this time directed, pinpointed, looking to strike at the young Kyokujitsu to force him back or to capitulate. He wouldn't. Takato knew his bodyguard too well to expect that to happen. He would attempt to continue, to show his worth, to keep him trying to attack him. To gain what would be a first blood at least from the Kazekage.

Takato wanted that to continue, but he wanted to test the last, to show him that he took him seriously. With that, the sand that remained on the desert soil, inert would take life once more, slithering towards him as the pellets fell towards him. Tendrils reached out of the Asahi, seeking to grasp, to hold, to detain. Keeping him on his toes as attacks came from the earth and the heaven, testing his resolve and worth just like he imagined the boy wanted that to be tested.

Seeing the wall of iron sand shatter from the impact of the wind bullets was definitely a surprise and he supposed there was only to thank the earlier Shakuton jutsu for super heating the sand prior to its cooling for such an effect to take place. Well the good news was that Asahi had stumbled upon a method to counter act Takato's sand, but the very obvious bad news was that the effort it would take would exhaust his chakra reserves pretty quickly. Perhaps that information would come in handy further down the line but for now the Chunin had more pressing matters to attend to in the form of a man floating in the air above him.

A less than pleased look crossed Asahi's face for a brief moment upon seeing his Kage floating on a disc of iron sand. He had seen this move before from Arashi, hell, he had experienced it on more than one occasion himself and knew it provided nearly unparalleled advantages in battle in terms of vision and movement which just made this so much more fun. Alas, there was little time for self pity as his opponent began his next attack as pellets of sand began to rain down towards him, but unlike before the sand that had been loosed earlier had sprung to life and was coming for him, too. One or the other wouldn't be as much of a problem but both.... that was an issue. Continuing to run and take pot shots wasn't going to get him far and eventually there'd be more iron sand on the ground than he'd be able to split his attention towards but it was tough to be aggressive against such an all encompassing technique, but what was there to do? Get aggressive, was the answer.

Asahi would focus a considerable amount of chakra around his body to the point where a soft glow would begin to emanate from him that gradually grew brighter until all at once the boy rocketed into the air akin to a missile. He wasn't sure if the speed and heat of the technique would be enough to negate the pellets heading for him but the Chunin was willing to take that risk as his trajectory took him straight into the air stopping eye level with his Kage with a few meters of empty space between them. Asahi had only used this technique once before in actual combat mostly for defensive purposes but in a situation like this there was no use in holding back.

The boy would focus chakra to his feet before propelling himself forward at a rapid pace aiming straight for Takato at blistering speeds. Perhaps the most dangerous game of chicken ever played but he wanted to see just how much pressure he could put on the man in terms of response time, not to mention the fact that the Kyokujitsu was coated in Shakuton chakra which made getting hit dangerous in more ways than one. There was definitely some recklessness to his plan but Asahi felt his best chance in this fight was getting up close to utilize a set of jutsu that he had yet been able to break out.

: Scorch Release chakra saturates the air around the user, creating what appears to be a sun-like aura of fire. This specialized chakra combines the heating abilities of Fire Release with the ability to control the movement of air via Wind Release to obtain the ability to fly. The capsule of heated air around the user controls their elevation, while the user's control of the surrounding air enables them to manipulate the direction of their flight. Powerful bursts of chakra grants rocket-like thrusts to one's flight, making the user into a human railgun projectile in terms of speed, while refined control of the elevating air currents allows them to change directions on a dime. While versatile in transporation and quick in closing distances, the surrounding fiery aura created by the chakra makes the user a bright target for all those trying to follow the shinobi's movements.
