IF YOU ALWAYS WORRY ABOUT CRUSHING ANTS BENEATH YOUR FEET
Azarea's words echoed in the chuunin's mind as he tried to keep himself in the present. They haunted him, just as much as the visuals of the incident did. Of course he regretted it. Kota shouldn't have been involved in the fight at all, and it was the fear he grappled with that got the wolf injusred. He failed the execution of one of the most basic of shinobi techniques, swapping himself with the wolf instead of anything else that could have been around for him to utilize.
"Of course I do.” Daisuke muttered, his voice almost drowned out by the thunder booming above them.
Feeling Azarea's hand against his shoulder, there was a harsh reality to her next words. Something he found himself knowing, but never feeling. If he were ever to move past this, he would need to forgive himself, over anything else. Kota was his spirit bond, the two were tied together, mind, body, and soul. Daisuke could feel Kota's thoughts and emotions, just as much as Kota could feel his own. But there was still fear surrounding the incident. Fear that Kota would not fogive him. Fear that he might do it again. Buckle under pressure, or create a foolish challenge that only drove him further down the path to chaos and self destruction.
He took in a deep breath, feeling the thunder boom through his body, and letting the cooling rain soothe his mind.
"I must not fear,” Daisuke said, the thunder again clapping above them.
" Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.”
Azarea's words rang true, he was more than aware, but it was something he needed not just to learn, but to feel. He needed to tune himself with the world, become one with the present, and let go of the pain and suffering that were all birthed from a single moment of hesitation. Of fear.
"I will face my fear,” The chuunin said, his eyes closing as he began to enter an eerie calm. His body began to glow faintly, and he felt the world starting to gently tug at him, like a gravitational smoke forming around hin.
"I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.”
Daisuke's eyes opened, and blazed alight with chakra, the nature energy recharging his body, rejuvinating him, as he felt all of his insecurities begin to crumble. He became one with the world around him.
"Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
The rain and thunder above seemed to resonate with Daisuke's feelings, and all around the two moved from a subtle shift into a powerful storm. Lightning raged, thunder echoing as Daisuke stood, his body shifting as the nature energy balanced and harmonized with him. Wind whipped around them as the rain became torrential, the violence of the world tuning itself to Daisuke. His breath became deeper, more jagged, and his eyes roared with vigor. His hair grew, darkening in color, as his ears soon shifted and matched that of a wolf. His arms bulked, fur growing over his shoulders, chest, and forarms, while his fingers grew claws. His legs bent, his feet extending into a much more canine shape, while his teeth grew like knives.
Despite managing to balance the energy within himself, there was far too much chaos on both sides of the scale. The storm around them grew vicious, just as Daisuke felt within himself. He needed to find a calm, he needed to truly balance himself in all aspects, mind, body, and spirit. There was so much power raging within him, a far greater sense than what he felt after Don'yokuna injected him with his natural chakra. He needed to control it, to control himself. His emotions still ran wild within him, and the world around the two cloud ninja made clear that the battle over fear, over failure, over insecurities was in full swing.
