Azarea continues to navigate alongside her team underground. Just barely peaking her head up under a bush to get eyes on the situation in regards to the guards on horseback and the ones with the dogs, ready to conceal herself with Tairai Joukei no Jutsu [Plain Sight Technique] if need be before ducking back down.

"Suzaku can you send your bird to distract the dog and guard? That a way they don't risk spotting us tunneling past." Azarea whispers, "And Natsuo if the horsemen get too close can you pull the nails out of their horses feet to make them throw a shoe? That may distract them." She suggests keeping her voice barely above a whisper before continuing to tunnel onward the group continuing their methods of surfacing when the coast is clear to make up ground and then delving under the earth when patrols pass with Moguragakure no Jutsu - [Mole Hiding Technique] and Dochuu Eigyo - [Underground Fish Projection] utilizing Suzaku's avian friends and Azarea's chakra senses to navigate.

Joō no Taikanshiki no Regaria [Queen's Coronation Regalia]
A mutated variant of the Aburame clans Yūdai no Omorejō ["Bewildering Grandeur of the Alpha"] resulting from the subsequent poisoning of Azarea's former Yūdai no Omorejō hive to prevent potential hijutsu theft. While the Joō no Taikanshiki no Regaria lacks the Yūdai no Omorejō size instead Azarea's hive has maintained the ability to produce alpha pheromones and commanding vibrations. Evolving instead to hyperspecialize in these two aspects allowing them to produce pheramones and vibrations strong enough to be detected by human hearing and sense of smell.

Reigning Chakra Control
Fine tuning her chakra control to a razor's edge Azarea is capable of performing delicate techniques with minimal to no wastage of chakra. Allowing her to conserve her reserves in prolonged combat and managed more finickity techniques and jutsu.

Kagura Mind's Eye
Born with a natural affinity towards sensing chakra like her Father before her Azarea has trained herself to become a capable sensory shinobi. Unlocking the Kagura's Mind's Eye, and with it, the ability to passively sense chakra signatures in the distance (when using the technique), thus allowing her to not only track, but also memorize a person's chakra signature, even if barely any chakra is being used. Due to her proficiency with this technique, Azarea can currently passively sense chakra up to 500 meters and actively at 2.5 kilometers.

DESCRIPTION:
This jutsu while not being able to be used offensively can make many jobs much more simple. This technique causes all other people who can see the user's handseal to not notice them. Meaning that when someone is using this technique people will subconsciously not take notice of them, the affected person(s) eyes looking around or right past them. Even in combat this can be a useful technique, as long as the user holds the seal the opponent will find it impossible to bring any focus on the user from their five main senses.
A technique meant for assassinations and infiltrations, its only true drawback is the small amount of chakra required to maintain it and the fact that the user must hold the seal while using it, making them unable to use other techniques. This technique however does not stop the target(s) from utilizing additional senses from detecting them. This including, but not limited to sensor shinobi.

Description

As Kohaku began her way toward the path closer to the mountains she could tell she was going to be in trouble. The path was slowly becoming more difficult to traverse and in turn, would play against her strengths. What was she to do now? There was no way this path wasn't being watched and she wasn't about to let herself get seen after working so hard up to this point. She needed a new strategy, but what? What could she do to climb such rocky surfaces without having the tree-climbing technique? Wait what if? No that couldn't work, could it? A small smile would paint across the young woman's face as she kept herself hidden in some brush before coming up with a new idea.

Making sure she was out of sight to the best of her ability she switched her jutsu usage from the cloak of invisibility to the transformation jutsu and would take on the appearance of a mountain goat. These creatures had a knack for traversing mountainous areas without much difficulty right? Once transformed she would take a deep breath and begin scaling her way across the path while jumping from rock face to rock face trying to act as animalistic as she could muster.

He was surprised his disguise was working so well to the point he was getting a bit suspicious of this whole test. There was no way it would be this easy there had to be some kind of trick to it. It just didn't seem reasonable to him that they would allow someone to do something so basic and get away with it unless that was the whole point. To not overthink this whole thing and just go based on instinct. So maybe his plan was exactly what they wanted? Was he simply playing into the hands of the proctors and he simply didn't realize it? This whole ordeal was quite troubling to Katsuo and he wondered if maybe he should have followed his brother and the other Kumo ninja.[break][break]

Katsuo would eventually be stopped by the guards of the roadblock and would listen to their directions listening earnestly to make sure he understood them completely. He didn't want to ignore the instructions because he felt if he didn't they would grow suspicious of him and try to lure him out of his disguise. They even gave him special instructions to keep an eye on the deer that was traveling near the road to make sure they didn't spread their diseases to other travelers by coming too close to them. Katsuo would agree of course because with his hunter persona he would need to keep an eye on them anyways as possible game targets so it wasn't too out of the ordinary of a request for him.[break][break]

So that's what he did. Picking up the pace, while still keeping his disguise up, he would keep a close eye on the deer while traveling down the road even further. Security began to pick up as each roadblock came and went by along with more and more questions. Katsuo was getting a bit tired of being interrogated, but he kept his made-up identity consistent as he didn't want to let slip that he wasn't a hunter after all. Plus if he decided to change up his tactics now when things were getting more dangerous he would be in a much more detrimental situation so there was no turning back from this disguise anymore.[break][break]

[Kyuumu Takame]

"Great a watch tower," Takame would mutter to himself once his bird came back telling him about the path that leads ahead along with the fact the forest was now clearing. This would make traversing this area very difficult. He was relying heavily on the shrubbery for coverage, but it looked like he would need a new strategy. Especially since the two options of paths next to him were one in the open with a waterfront and one with clear mountainous terrain. Takame was in a rough spot for sure, but he had a level head he knew he would figure something out. Well, that was until he was rudely interrupted by another Kumo ninja. Takame wasn't the type to work with people much fewer strangers. Shoot even Azarea had to do a lot to get his attention and he didn't even work with her when they arrived at the exams though he probably should of to make sure his cousin from the other branch of the clan didn't spill any beans about their techniques. So when he mentioned that the Kyuumu were great scouts Takame suddenly would become serious. Who was this slightly taller male and what did he know? Clan creed stated he would need to eliminate him before any knowledge about their abilities came to light so Takame was ready to follow those orders, but he had to stop himself. They were in an exam in a foreign territory it wouldn't look good if he killed a fellow contestant so current circumstances would spare this boy's life. The other youth's intention was clear though to work together and get passed these exams to which Takame would respond with, "I don't work with others, but I'm not going to stop you from following along." This was the best way to compromise with the other shinobi while also keeping an eye on them to make sure they didn't know much more about their clan. Call it a middle ground if you would for the time being, but if Takame found out the boy did indeed know more he would have to send word to his family so they could take care of the threat. Though he would quickly return on his words as he figured why not let the boy be bait? Kill two birds with one stone, Takame hated this phrase, and let them get taken out by any guards while he used him as either a meat shield or a distraction. A slight sneer would appear on his face as he would address them with a simple question, "What can you even do to help us get past this obstacle then?" He would point in the direction of the watchtower looming over the distance from their hiding spot. "Show me what you are made of and ill provide support as needed," Takame would add letting the other boy take the lead which he would follow if the idea was worthwhile or dispatch and try to hide among the scenery as he snuck around the tower with the cloak of invisibility. More and more recently, Sho had begun to notice a recurring trait among his fellow villagers - despite being renowned for being one of the friendliest villages in the current system, he had run across far more unfriendly people than friendly ones.

Among the civilian population of Kumogakure, the plague had done a lot to make people more tolerant and more affectionate towards others, knowing that at any point they might lose them. He wondered why this wasn't the case with the Shinobi populace.

Still, being allowed to follow them was more than enough for him right now, he would serve as a suitable compass whether or not he was going to be friendly about it. Thus, the two of them moved through the lush greenery of the forest, their only companions being their fellow contestants and the sound of the rustling foliage. This was the way for quite some time, until they came to a clearing.

Taking a moment to stand at the end of the foliage, using its shade as cover whilst he thought his way around the situation, Sho's mind came to a quick series of conclusions. Okay, he could notice the rocks that were sticking up across the field like empty daggers up to heaven, they would serve as good cover. There was no active patrol force nearby so whatever they were hiding from was far, far distant. However, there was a guard tower overlooking the area.

Being unable to see little more than the general outline of the guard tower, he was unable to tell just what the people inside might be armed with. They may, for all he knew, have binoculars or trained spotters out on the parapets. Still, as far as he could tell this was the only tower around, and it was overlooking the access points for multiple roots so as long as he did nothing to actively draw its attention, he should be able to sneak past.

That said, he wasn't about to gamble his success on a roll of the dice, nor on shoulds. He was going to have to treat this as if it was an active threat regardless.

Sho, giving a nod to his companion, spoke in a simple voice. "Alright. I'm going to scout ahead. Follow at your own pace."

With that, he seemed to disappear, using the body flicker technique to cross the open spaces between the rocks before anyone would be able to see them. Darting around the local area, he would quickly make it to the other side of the path, stopping only once he was on the other side.

From there, he would stop and bunker down, using his coat as a suitable cloak against the back of the last rock in the open area before the forest continued. With position established, he would silently gesture to his new ally to come across, serving as the spotter until they were able to once more slide unnoticed into the dense bush of the forest.

DESCRIPTION: By invigorating one's entire body with chakra, a shinobi can seemingly disappear and reappear in another location faster than most people can see. Often times one's movements are disguised with the use of an extra element, be it a smoke bomb, leaves, water, sand, etc. in order to hide the user's trajectory from those with skilled eyes. Though it mimics teleportation, it is important to remember this jutsu merely boosts the agility of its user. As useful as this technique is, it can only be used 4 times in a battle thread, compounding in exertion and difficulty each time. with any more usages beyond that result in muscle tears in the legs from overexertion. The hand seal for this technique must be held until the shinobi reaches their destination, making it impossible to utilize other techniques regardless of any preparation.

Yamanaka Itsuki

Making good time, eventually the two young Genin managed to find themselves in the slowly clearing woodlands, an area that generally animals such as pigs wouldn't find themselves as often, it was also a lot harder to hide this way compared to in the depths of the forest. Stopping as Miroru popped out of her henge, Ino-tsuki stared at the redhead for a moment, a little doubtful that this plan was going to work but not having much of a better idea to go off of. 

He did let off a little piggy grunt as he was slapped on the butt by the now bear shaped Miroru, taking off with a simple application of Hohō to match the sort of speed a fleeing boar might reach. Grunting as a pig under exertion might, he hurtled through the more open treeline, weaving around trees in an attempt to slow the 'bear' that was chasing him while trying not to slow their own path too much. His sensory field would hopefully allow him to guide the two of them away from people that were too close, even as he had a little piggy grimace of determination on his face.

To anyone's eyes, it should simply seem like a very determined pig trying to escape a predator, keepingf the sort of distance from human structures that a wild animal normally would, but also getting a bit closer than was standard for something that would normally avoid being seen. After all, they were pretending to be predator and prey right now, and a panicking prey animal sometimes ignored its usual instincts to survive.

He could only hope their little pantomime paid off and his continued henge as a boar was good enough to get them through.

The covered trail that Nari had "discovered” seemed to be everything he wanted. No one was on it and it was a nice straight shot for him. As he bounded down the animal path, still in his deer form, he neared the bottom of a precipice jutting out of the mountain he had chosen to be close to.

He slowed to a trot as the trees began to thin out a little. The genin couldn’t see anything on top of it from this vantage, but he guessed it would be a really good lookout point if anyone had chosen to use it. But he was still technically in a wooded area and he hoped that deer were still a common enough sight to not be suspicious.

Refocusing himself so that his disguise didn’t falter, he kicked himself back up into a gallop. If anyone was looking down, all they would see would be a deer booking it along an animal path. He didn’t have any sensory talents, but he did keep his eye on the path before and around him. Adding a few zigzags into his path, Nari continued running until he reached the bottom of the plateau.

He continued bounding through, using his natural agility to skip around the rocks and boulders in as close to a deer-ly manner as possible. He needed to keep moving and hoped that he was able to bypass any true detection with his disguise as he made his way to the next checkpoint.

It's especially useful for him, due to the fact that his Life Blade is constantly absorbing chakra from him. But thanks to the depth of his stores, he never feels the strain from that drain unless he has depleted the polearm's stores in combat.

  As all Life Blades, Hisuiyuri absorbs Nari's chakra continuously as he carries it around, stacking up a decent amount of chakra inside of itself equal to half its wielder's chakra pool. The chakra becomes Hisuiyuri's and cannot be accessed by anyone other than the spear, allowing it to have the ability to self-repair small nicks and scratches it may obtain during combat.

  It also allows Hisuiyuri to have its own built-in security in case someone other than Nari grabs onto it. Using its futon chakra, sharp blades of wind will strike at the stranger's hands and arms until they release the spear. These gouges are minor cuts but they do sting quite a bit if they manage to hit skin.

  When entering combat, Hisuiyuri will use its own stores to fuel its abilities until it runs out and then will begin taking from Narihira. Thanks to his deeper-than-average chakra pools the wielder and weapon are able to go for a decent length of time-fighting in that state, but eventually, it will cause Nari to lose consciousness if the spear takes too much chakra.

  Using its natural affinity to fūton, Hisuiyuri is able to detach the six small jade points that line the sides of its spearhead and allow them to hover. By sacrificing the shredding ability the points usually grant the spear, Narihira is able to fire them off either one-by-one or all at once towards his opponents.

  At it's current skill level, Hisuiyuri's points move at a speed slightly quicker than a regular thrown kunai, due to being powered by fūton chakra and Narihira's able to control the path the points take up to 30m.

Kaida moved along with the rest of her 'herd' as they made their way down the small animal paths heads up and spooking if they heard any noise like a forest creature was prone too and head down and playing at grazing as they meandered through the brush when all seemed quiet. The red haired taki nin doing her best to mimic the native Tsuchi no Kuni fauna alongside Saga and the others to avoid detection. Keeping a low profile and choosing to blend in with their surroundings as best they could.

The 'animal' skirting away from signs of 'humans' and never drawing too far away from the other deer as they continued up along the Left Plains Route with their henge.

[Honō Kojirou]

Boy, how long had they been going? Already felt like an entire day’s worth of traveling, and while Kojirou felt relatively safe from getting spotted, the fact that time felt so slow on his eyes was a source of worry. They did still need to make it to the finish line before 24 hours had passed, and having traversed across non-roads and wild, mountainous spike fields, Kojirou was starting to doubt whether or not two or less checkpoints had been met… but the balloons were clear to see. That was a relief, in the end… but still, his head was banging with confusion.

The rocks kept getting jaggier and jaggier, prompting the swordsman to keep a closer eye on his toes and what they were standing on during the advance. About a good chunk into the area, however, civilization of one kind suddenly appeared on the otherwise ludicrously deserted mountain path – a sort of mining business with multiple tunnels drilled into the mountainside. The swordsman quickly joined Atagi and listened to his little plan, thinking about the possibility of them being able to kill the act of miners…

Henge no Jutsu!

Kojirou was in on the idea – now, he too donned a similar miner’s outfit as his fellow Kusa-nin. "Pleeeeeeaaaaaaaaase, let this work…” he crossed fingers before following suit, trying his best to move as a mere, ordinary miner and not any sort of trained shinobi at all…

Urgh, hopefully they wouldn’t mind the backpack he was wearing. His katanas were hidden in there, and he couldn’t hide them anywhere else without outright discarding them on the route. He could, however, transform them as well as himself into boulders once they had found a means of faster transport through the tunnel system that the mining area boasted.

It would likely be a ride, yeah. Something told Kojirou’s psyche that Atagi was more than thrilled to try out this sort of traveling. Concerning the disguise, Kojirou would try to crack jokes and appear as welcoming and friendly as he could – nothing to worry about, it was just a friendly miner here… nothing suspicious going on. At least, until they were transformed into boulders…

Now, what was the worst thing that could happen?

[Murahira Hana]

in life, honor - in death, glory Hana had been making good time thus far, but more importantly, had managed to go unseen the entire time. Others had not been as fortunate, and some were lagging behind. However, Hana was also quite aware that she was not the only one who had made excellent progress. Others were doing so as well. It was time to, well, make up some lost time. Hana chose a little more risky route, and took to the plains. The left plains route relied upon rocks jutting from the ground for cover, and darting between them, would keep someone unseen. For Hana, moving as such was not that big of a deal so long as she was patient and didn't try to push herself too hard. Shunpo, one of the Subakage-ryu's movement techniques, could provide an exceptional burst of speed for a short distance, more than enough to zip between these rocks and move unseen. Most normal people would hardly be able to register such quick movement with their eyes. Getting through the check point was the trickier part. Hana would rely upon her sensitive ears to locate the guards and from there, she'd begin making her move. She'd throw stones or whatever else was at hand into the area as necessary to draw attention whenever she needed an opening, and then would rely upon her Shunpo to close the gap. It may not be the perfect method, but it should work, especially since there were likely to be others coming along who would undoubtedly cause more distractions and make her ingress even easier.

Konsho would remain within the bounds of the plains, staying at the front, and acting as a warning should the others suddenly be on alert through moving his false transformation. Weirdly enough, the act of pretending to be on guard as a prey animal blended well with being on guard whilst moving undetected. Constantly on guard, keeping watch around you as if everyone is a threat. This stealth scenario was eerily similar to the hunts Konsho was often on... although this time he was on the other side. Still, he had hunted deer multiple times before.

As he walked, he'd relay information to his partners. Now that they were near each other, the radios were not needed, he'd speak barely above a whisper. "Deer will always take the path of least resistance. If we find a clear and easy path, that's what we take." He'd say, moving along the plains route rather than taking the mountains. "If you notice anything with sensory techniques, make sure to alert us. We'll move around as needed. Shouldn't be hard. Deer don't really care for human made barriers. A quick stroll through any near by greenery- or even just jumping a fence- won't be strange."

[Natsuo Jokyū]

Natsuo continued to follow Azarea as they got closer and closer to the end goal. She peaked her head up out of the ground for a moment. Presumably, that was to check the position of the guards nearby. She asked the other boy to distract the guard with a dog with one of his crows. That was a smart play, the dogs might be able to smell them underground. 

Finally though, Natsuo had a use. He could use the metal in the horses' feet to distract the guards too. He hoped it wouldn't hurt the horse too bad, but it was a necessary distraction so even if it hurt a lot, he still needed to do it. The boy closed his eyes, focusing on the metal in the closest horse's foot. He'd rather not wait for the horsemen to get closer. So, he went ahead and took the nails out of one of its feet. "One distraction, successful. Hopefully." He needed more confidence, but at least he was useful now. "You're up next, Suzaku. Hope your birds listen well." The boy stated, hoping that the other member of their ragtag group could command his birds decently. How would birds even distract a dog though?

[Yasuraka Hitsukai]

Hitsukai had felt that he had been able to cover a much greater distance this time around, but looking ahead it seemed the left mountain route he was currently on was about to become much more problematic. As he stopped to crouch behind some of the rocks in the area he could see small dots on the mountain moving. It was possible that some might have been other participants, but given their seeming lack of urgency in the majority of dot's movements, he had to assume they were patrolling guards.

He understood that force was not to be used against the guards, but also doubted he would be able to make it through unseen given his lack of stealth techniques. A frown would slowly form on his face as an idea came to mind. He did not particularly like it, but he did not believe it would break any of the rules either. Given the heavy presence of guards this side of the mountain, his best chance was to head to the peak and potentially shift to the other side of the mountain. However, a silhouette on top of the mountain was likely to stand out. . . unless something else drew the eyes instead, which was where his moral quandary came in.

With a shake of his head Hitsukai gave a sigh as he tried to steel his resolve. It was not as if being seen meant the other participants would die. It might not have been the most honorable of methods, but in the end he needed to prove Bishamon's gift. He needed to prove both to others and himself that this was where he belonged. Pausing only a few moments longer to grab a handful of stones and securing them throughout a couple of pockets throughout his robes, Hitsukai set off at his quick pace once again.

The plan was to make his way further up the mountain and hopefully away from the patrolling guard's eyes. At any point he began to near a guard, Hitsukai planned to throw one of the large rocks with as much strength as he could muster further down the mountain than the guards were where it might draw their eyes to the Left Plains Route instead of where he was. Apart from that attempted distraction, Hitsukai's only hope was that his speed and ability to more easily navigate the chaotic stones far away from any paths would help him get through this segment.

[Inunaki Itsuko]

So far the locks had failed to impede the girl's progress; in fact, there wasn't much at all down the canal route to offer Itsuko any opposition. The match-up was proving to be a good call. With the majority of the path being comprised of conductive material and her being able to make a beeline toward her destination with little to no threat of being spotted, save by sensors, it made her path quick and painless.

Ahead there were more locks and frequent elevation changes, but, given her lack of mass, neither should affect her forward momentum. Still, she took care to avoid the ships bobbing along the water's surface or any other physical entities in the water. When she passed through the locks, she did so as easily as before; passing through the conductive materials be it by metal or water.

She wondered for a brief moment how her other Cloud-nin were faring. She hadn't taken the time to discuss with anyone at the start of the race, for obvious reasons, so she wondered how they were all holding up. Though, knowing the lot of them very little made her assumptions pretty pointless; plus, based on the rough layout she'd seen at the start, the paths wouldn't intertwine at any point save the finish line, so she didn't linger on the thought.

Instead, she focused on the route ahead of her. She'd been in a sprint since the start and wasn't about to slow down now!

"Chuunin Exams". "How can you move forward if you keep on regretting the past?" NO BUSINESS MESSING WITH A WINNING TEAM Saga was not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he had made it this far without being spotted, which meant that this strategy of theirs was working out fine. And although the Lizard wouldn't be of much help now that they reached an area with far more guards; they wouldn't need any assistant identifying them and stuff, he still thought it would be wise to keep him there to aid them, should they reach a spot where there were no guards. It would help guide them to the better path then. And having Kaida with him, he felt confident. Hence, he would continue to mimic the girl, in their deer disguise with the Transformation Technique being sustained, and continue to follow along the Left Plains Route, hoping they could continue to experience this same degree of success. He was nervous, yes, but he also knew it was pointless to think about that. "It is what it is. If I pass, I deserved it. If I fail, no different. I am where I am supposed to be. he thought to himself. "But damn, moving in all fours can be quite convenient... Maybe I should try doing that as well in my human form..." he mused for a moment, as he continued to move as a deer would. "There is no such a thing as a painless lesson, they just don't exist.
