Cocky kid! Luckily, Taru wasn't really the type to take offense to that kind of thing. People being overconfident had nothing to do with her, and she'd only be bothered by someone doubting her abilities if they were at her same rank. Some kid saying she must suck was amusing if anything, and paradoxically seemed to make her smile more, an expression not dampened when he went on to apologize.
"The theory behind the two techniques is really similar," she started to explain. "In both cases, you're using your chakra to change how something looks. With the transformation technique, you're mimicking a certain person, or object, or animal, but with this technique you're mimicking an area a little more broadly. Instead of copying one thing, you copy many little elements."
She whipped the fabric up so she could throw it over herself, letting it drape around her. Then she began to demonstrate, in parts.
She changed the fabric near the ground to be green to start with. Just green. A similar shade to the grass, but not textured enough to blend in.
"See that? I'm using something like the transformation technique there to change the color of the fabric. The color isn't enough, though. When you're copying a spot you want to hide, you have to think about three things - color, texture, and shadows. Does that make sense?"
