Zakku wasn't prepared for the man to fight back.  He expected him to surrender and tell them everything.  Him jumping back and weaving handsigns wasn't what the blue haired shinobi had wanted at all.  Diving out of the way he barely missed falling into the Jaged ravine that opened up.  Then came the rumbling.  The fungus began to darken as the tunnels began collapsing.  "YOU IDIOT!"  Zakku screamed at the man.  "YOU'VE KILLED US ALL!"  His fears fully realized his eyes wide in horror watching as the man was trapped under some rubble.

Looking over as Azarea yelled for him he ran for her hoping she really could protect them from what was happening.  Stopping beside her he'd look up at the approaching earth and braced waiting for the inevitable weight of the earth crushing them to death.  Nothing came.  He opened his eyes and saw they were surrounded by her makeshift barrier.  Letting out a sigh of relief Zakku smiled at her.  "You really do have an answer for everything don't you Red?"  Making another light from his stakes he looked at his partner.  "Do you have a way for us to get out of her as well or is this our life now?"

Bugs

"What not liking the idea of growing old with me in a little stone box?" Azarea quipped with a laugh to hide her own worries and fears. The cave in had been dangerous and her barrier had just barely held, but thankfully there was enough room that some air was still filtering through to them even if it was poisoned. Still they had a limited time on their masks. Zakku more so then her.

"Don't worry while you're cute I'm rather taken Zakku-kuuuun." She teases tossing him a wink as she straightens best she can careful not to crush their stolen bag of plants as she glances towards the suna shinobi. "Don't freak out ok? I mean it. Do. Not. Freak. Out." Azarea orders... as she shakes out her sleeve as hundreds of little fuzzy white and gold beetles fall out. The woman forming a few handseals as the beetles begin to burrow through and devour the earth forming a tunnel for them to escape through back into the somewhat open air. The cavern half collapsed blocking their exit out. Leaving only the now widened river, a few scraggly patches of plants... and the tunnel opposite from them leading further down into the depths.

"Looks like we only have one option unless you're confident in your swimming ability and how long you can hold your breath." Azarea quips with a frown as she glances over their surroundings. It's nearly pitch dark now with barely a faint light from the ruined fungus that is already slowly dying out. Soon nothing will remain, but darkness.

DESCRIPTION:
This technique can only be utilized by those with bugs capable of both aerial and underground movement.
By allowing a swarm of bugs to submerge into the ground, the user is able to maneuver and place them beneath an opponent as a trap. Once placed, the bugs can then rapidly emerge from underneath the opponent, consuming the ground beneath them and rising up to surround them.
The combination and suddenness is enough to cause an opponent to lose their balance with the ground under them suddenly disappearing while allowing the bugs to grasp onto the target and drain them.
While the rate at which the bugs are able to dig is dependent on the bug, this jutsu can also speed up their digging capability depending on the cost.
Bugs that attach to the target drain chakra at a [Low] rate.

"Story of my life and just as I was planning on a gift registry."  Zakku quipped back.  "Why would I freak out?"  Then he saw the bugs drop from her sleeves.  He stood silently watching the fuzzy white and gold beetles made them a path out.  "You just keep bugs in your sleeves?  All the time?"  He couldn't even begin to think of how weird that'd feel.  Though with time he supposed anyone would get used to it.  A shiver ran up his spine as he looked around at the damage from the cave in. 

"As much as I'd love to test my ability to hold my breath in what i'm more than sure is cold water we're gonna have to move deeper.  You're hair could get ruined from the humidity and that's a fashion disaster we can't have.  No not today."  Looking for the men Zakku couldn't see any signs of them in the fading light.  He just hoped they didn't have back up deeper in the system but he doubted it.  Holding up his makeshift light to help get a better view he made his way towards the tunnel.  "I hope that idiot didn't cause another cave in deeper down."  Zakku wished as he held the blue light up illuminating the tunnel.

"Actually the me you see now is just an elaborate henge to hide the fact I'm actually just a vaguely human shaped mass of bugs that pretending to be a person." Azarea deadpanned as she gives Zakku a flat stare as the pair pull themselves from the rubble to survey the damage around them. The red head letting the silence linger for a moment before she cracks a smile, "Just kidding~" She sing-songs sweetly in a way that definitely doesn't sound like she was kidding.

"And a pity we won't be having any impromtu swimming lessons." She teases though the Kumo nin nods her agreement on the sentiment regarding further damage deeper in. "There must be another entrance or exit, but if we can find some softer earth I should be able to burrow us up and out." Azarea muses as the two head further in. The woman tying off the bag of herbs to her belt as the path leads down... down... down. The air slowly growing thicker with a strange cloying miasma around their feet. The likely source of the dangerous gas as the sound of running water grows louder and... so does the heat. The cool clamminess of the air giving way to tepid moisture like being inside a hot house dampening her and Zakku's clothes and leaving the air clinging to their skin as they exit out into a large room that at first glance appears to be filled with natural hotsprings. The water the most beautiful crystalline blue as Azarea shoots her arm out in alarm.

"Zakku quick! Put out your light! I those are sulfer springs!" She calls out in alarm recognizing them from her own homeland.

Aburame Azarea

So she's a bug witch?  Or just a clever collection of Chakra reactive bugs.  The blue haired chunin thought to himself.  He didn't doubt many things anymore given half the things he'd seen in his journeys.   Zakku watched the Miasma around their feet as the pair moved.  He'd never imagined seeing an environment in these lands.  Never too late to learn a new thing.  Feeling his clothes dampen he was further impressed seeing a natural hot spring this deep under ground.  Just as he got ready to compliment the scene he saw Azarea throw her arm out in front of him and warn him.  

Quickly he killed the light and tucked his weapons away.  "Sulfur?  There's Sulfur under this mountain!?!"  While it was a discovery that would earn them some brownie points with the Kage it was also a bit more deadly than their earlier adversaries.  If it weren't for Azareas warning he'd have sent them both up in a fiery explosion that probably would have rocked the mountain with the highly reactive agent.  So there was another fear to add to his growing list for today.  Buried alive, Burned alive and buried, Just being exploded and never found again.  He really needed to stop focusing on the negatives.

Reassurance

Sensing her companion's rising panic Azarea reached out her fingers closing gentle, but firm around Zakku's arm, "It's ok. This is a good thing." Azarea assures him her voice calm as she disperses her insects sending them scuttling along the walls over the cavern to find an exit for them. "We must be very deep underground, but the build up of gas has to go somewhere which means there's probably another exit to the surface. All we have to do is find it." She explains as she gives Zakku's arm a reassuring squeeze.

"Do you know how to water walk? We don't want to fall into these springs. They're incredibly deadly, but with her masks on so long as we stay out of the water we should be fine." Azarea adds glancing back towards Zakku even knowing she couldn't see him in the dark. The woman left to rely completely on her chakra senses and insects as said Kikaichu alert her to another exit in the room across the pools and part way up the wall. It was their best bet for getting out of here though where it would lead was anyone's guess. Standing still though wouldn't do them any good however. Not when the time was ticking on their oxygen.

"My bugs have found and exit, but we'll need to cross the springs." She murmurs hoping he wasn't like her teammate Tsuki who'd just adamantly refused to ever learn to water or tree walk when he could just run hard enough and let gravity do it's worse. Then again not everyone was as lucky of a bastard as Tsukimono so there was a decent chance Zakku could navigate the water.

Aburame Azarea

Zakku let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding.  "Ye-yeah I can water walk.  Who doesn't know how to?  Was it not forced learning for you guys?"  He arched an eyebrow at his red haired companion.  He just assumed everyone was forced to learn it when they began their training.  At least he had been forced to by his first sensei after getting in trouble for the umpteenth time that week. "As long as we don't have to swim I'll be fine."

Thankfully it would come just and natural to Zakku as he was used to doing the same type of Chakra gathering under his feet for his Grind Wire technique.  "Is it a telepathic link with the bugs or does this operate like a shadow clone?"  He asked curious as to how the bugs communicated with her.  He was used to the information that rushed back to him from his clones. Feeling the chakra gather under his feet he cautiously placed a foot on the water and tested it before fully stepping onto it.  He almost got into a runners stance out of instinct but stopped himself.  He shouldn't risk the run especially without knowing what was ahead of them.

Tunnel

"Well you do live in a dessert so I had to ask," Azarea explains with a loose shrug that's more felt then seen and doesn't mention the fact her own chuunin ranked teammate still doesn't know how to walk on water and refuses to learn. Honestly she's pretty sure it's the principle of the thing that has him refusing at this point, but the fact Zakku can water walk is a welcome relief. "And it's a little bit of both with the bugs." She adds not quite wanting to reveal that she can speak with her insects as well as communicate with them emotionally or maybe she just wants to keep poking fun at the Suna nin with her joke about being just a humanoid shaped sentient blob of beetles.

"Anyway let's get across this and get up that wall towards the tunnel." Azarea murmurs as she channels chakra to her own feet and begins slowly picking her way across the water her hand still steady of Zakku's arm to guide them both. Just because she knew where they were going didn't lessen the risk of tripping and the water beneath them was scaldling hot and dangerous to boot. Sweat beading on the back of the kumo nin's neck between the steam and nerves as they moved across the expanse with slow sweeping steps to not stumble over any rocky ridges or other issues.

Until finally they reached the wall and began their ascent. The 'tunnel' the insects had found barely big enough that with Azarea getting down on her hands and knees could crawl through it. The tight rock around them making even the doton user somewhat nervous as they shimmied forward on hands and feet.

Aburame Azarea

Zakku felt the sweat gather under his feet from the hot water.  Azarea guiding him by her hold on his arm was a great relief.  He'd never have found a way out without her and her bugs.  Never thought he'd ever thank bugs but he also never thought he'd meet a tanuki.  He really needed to broaden his thinking.  Especially if he was going to see his career as a shinobi go any further.

Having to crawl on their hands and knees made him feel even more uncomfortable.  "Now I know what it's like to be packed up into one of my blunts."  Zakku mused into the cramped space.  The tighter area was uncomfortable but if it meant getting out of this area Zakku wasn't going to question it.  He just wanted to get out of the earth and take off the uncomfortable gas mask he had to wear for this.  The feeling of humidity was slowly giving way but the heat remained.  That meant they were getting closer.  Fighting the urge to shove Azarea in an attempt to get her to speed up but decided better not wanting to recieve a kick in the head for touching where her in a spot he shouldn't.  He'd dealt enough with those misunderstandings for one lifetime.

Open Air

The tunnel felt like it went on forever. The tight compact rock forcing Azarea to at times belly crawl and as it sloped upwards slowly it steepened until they were no longer crawling, but climbing up the tight stone shaft. The kumo nin channeling chakra to her hands and feet to tree walk as she scrambled up the surface like a lizard. Her insects buzzing excitedably as they informed her they smelled fresh air.

"I think we're near the surface." She calls back to Zakku. The thought of fresh air tempting given even now they were running low on their filters. The gasmasks wouldn't hold out too much longer as the woman felt her gloved hand connect when hewn stone. The surface different from the previous rugged natural formations they'd scrambled through before. As tilting her head up she spotted stars. The sun having set during their time underground as realization strikes her as she pulls herself up and out of what she finds to be an old ancient dry well. The woman turning around to offer Zakku a hand up as Azarea breathed a sigh of relief. Only then tugging her mask off to wipe down her face sticky with sweat from nerves and the heat of the sulfur springs below.

"Kami that was a tight fucking squeeze. Any idea where we are?" She inquires glancing around and only seeing rugged dry mountains as she tries to reorientation herself. They had to be somewhere north of the entrance. Further into the highlands that surrounded Suna.

Aburame Azarea

Zakku accepted Azareas helping hand and had never been happier to feel the dry Suna air.  Ripping off his mask he gasped taking in the fresh air and sighed.  Sitting down after Azarea had offered a hand out to help him he looked around the area.  "Uh..."  Trying to figure out where they'd came out at he tapped his mask against his leg as he kept looking.  It looked familiar to him.  A bit too familiar.  

"Oh wait.  This is the remains of an older village."  Pointing with the mask he'd motion towards a crumbled building.  "I think this place used to belong to one of the original tribes that used to roam the deserts or a tribe of nomads."  The old world fascinated him and he'd often gotten lost in researching old ways of tribes or clans long since passed.  It also helped in developing new ways to use his chakra.  "Hey big favor, Red.  Next time you can go into the poisonous cave alone.  I'll keep watch at the door."  He laid back on the ground and let out a tired groan.  "Yeah.  Next time you enter the cave.  I'll stay as a door guard.  Turn away people who aren't on the list."

Stars

Azarea can't help letting out a laugh at Zakku's exaggerated relief. Not that she wasn't feeling pretty grateful to be out in the open again again as well. Though the mental image of him standing guard while she skulked around in the dark was pretty amusing all and all to the woman. "All right Blue, but only if you throw in lunch into the mix." She jests her gaze landing on the boys bright azure hair as she arches a playful brow back at him before flopping down onto the ground next to him.

"Wanna set up camp here for the night and head back come morning? We'll be a little late, but nothing alarming and it's been a helluva a day." Azarea suggests noting how worn the chuunin looks as she lets herself lean back arms under her head to stare up at the dazzling star filled night sky. "And gotta admit. I think I could do with just taking in the view." She adds with a fanged grin though with the way the temperature was dropping neither probably wanted to stay out too late up here in the mountains.

"So tell me about the old tribes huh? What were they like?" Azarea questions glancing over their surroundings and trying to build a picture in her head of what this place must have looked like before. How those people must have lived. What their lives were like and why they left their homes for somewhere else. Though a dry well was maybe half a hint there.

Chuckling Zakku nodded.  "Deal."  He let out with a laugh.  Staring at the sky he couldn't help but agree with Azarea.  It was a great view.  "We can camp for the night or we can take the couple hour hike back to the vilIages east gate.  I forget how lucky we are out here to get such a great view of the stars."  The open air of Suna was great for star gazing.  Though it was something he and many others taken for granted.  

Zakku let out a sigh.  "Some of the clans native to Sunagakure were originally tribes that wandered the deserts and made home on these mountains.  The Saeko and the Kyokojitsu clans."   With a huff he pushed himself up onto his elbows.   "They conquered other tribes and were eventually the strongest.  A lot of us can trace our lineages to some of those tribes lost to time."  Zakku had never investigated his own lineage but when he'd asked his parents they'd shrugged.  "These ruins are a lot of the ways we can learn about the old world and how different life used to be.  The well we just crawled out of might have drained into the mountain and forced these people to leave.  Sad yet that's what happens."
