And if only I could, I'd make a deal with God
This was easily Reiji's favorite place in all of Yukigakure.
After having lived here for a year, he'd adjusted quite well to the shinobi village. And, truthfully, there was much to admire about the place. Even despite it's bitter cold, it was, perhaps, one of the most beautiful places in the world. At least, that's what the boy thought. The way that the sunlight set the snow alight in shimmer, the view of the night sky and the lights that danced in the heavens--or even watching the rising sun from the rooftops. The warm comfort of the buildings as soon as you stepped in from outside, the skating rink, the libraries, and especially the architecture of the Black Castle--all enthralling in each their own ways.
But out of all of it, Reiji had grown particularly fond of the little coffee shop located in the market district. He'd wound up there one day months ago, trying to figure out his way home but getting rather lost instead, as was quite common for the white-haired boy. The shop owner had helped ease his nerves inside, giving him a warm cup of hot chocolate, and that's when he'd seen it.
    A piano.
Reiji couldn't remember the last time he'd seen one--and to the boy it'd felt like an astronomical discovery. Something truly rare--and precious. Apparently the shop owner had owned the old instrument and set it up in his shop for patrons to occasionally play on should they please. It added to the environment, and during the evenings some people would come in to play and dance and sing and enjoy the community while sipping down a hot beverage.
And, ever since then, this had been Reiji's favorite place to spend his time when he wasn't training or doing his job as a bodyguard.
Today was one of those times. He still hadn't fully settled in to his environment socially, he was still a bit awkward, still learning how to speak properly--something he'd seemed to struggle with greatly since the day Shiro had found him. He didn't really have any friends, though people were nice enough. And that was all fair and well. But rather than consistently stepping out of his comfort zone, Reiji tended to seclude himself when he got the chance. And, so, on this particularly cold morning while he had the day off, instead of spending time with friends or loved ones, Reiji was in the cafe, playing a song quietly in the cafe. He was gentle on the instrument, not wishing to disturb any other patrons who may have been nearby, but the quiet playing added a certain element to the environment where they lacked a jukebox or some other tool for ambiance.
