A DEMON HAS PURPOSE

There is only one path left to take.

Kasumi hadn't expected her missions in conjunction with Yukigakure would be bringing her so close to home again so soon, but she now found herself on a boat to scout out another trading base for the two villages. Hi no Kuni was as beautiful as she remembered from the exams though, if only a little less secure now that all of the guards were back at their posts.

Kasumi gave a friendly nod to the man at the dock their ship passed. The island they were going to was close, but not actually on the infamous exam site. In fact, there was specific orders not to interfere with the residents of Hi no Kuni.

"Always somethin'." The captain let out a holler, saying they were preparing to dock. Kasumi had been on a lot of ships lately, and was starting to get the rhythm of things down. The crew on her boat were supposed to be good architects, and her partner from Yuki was supposed to bring building materials on his boat over.

The mission would probably take a few days, at the least, and resistance was expected even if she hadn't seen any enemies yet.

After the boat docked, Kasumi would get off. Her Yukigakure partner should be here soon, if he wasn't already. She was eager to meet with him and make a plan.

Demon Chakra:
Kasumi has become known for her strange chakara form. When in a dire situation, she is capable of releasing her chakra, which in turn takes a strange color unlike the normal blue color of chakra, and takes the form of a demonic cat figure. She is then enveloped in a demon shroud.

This ability grants her a fierce looking aura, that may come off as intimidating and a tenacity to push beyond their normal limits physically- when this mode is activated, Kasumi is harder to knock out or kill and will generally fight for longer than a normal body is capable of.

Keeping this ability active has a low drain on Kasumi's chakara.


Demon sword style:
Since a young age, Kasumi has felt the weight of a sword in her hands. She's practiced combat with swords, and is able to compete with some of the best sword users around. That said, people who lack training with a sword or intensive Taijutsu tend to be overwhelmed by her skill.

Demon chakra pool:
Kasumi was born with higher than average chakara reserves, letting her use more chakara and jutsu without being exhausted. A natural gift from her lineage. She has learned how to properly take advantage of these reserves.

One Handed Demon Style:
Through patience and recklessness, Kasumi has mastered the ability to do jutsu with only one available hand. She can cast jutsu only using one hand for the seals.

Taro's mission had been a little different, as he'd travelled through frost country. A deal with Shimogakure allowing them both the supplies and means of travel to meet with Kirigakure's forces. They'd be using the gathered resources to build this trading post. Somehow to get a discount the gathering of said resource was actually performed by a team Taro lead, as a shinobi with a deadline he swore he put in the most elbow grease. The results would say so, but him being a shinobi gave an edge on those came with him. The ship needed to move so much resources wasn't small and it's speeds were hindered due to it.

It was a nice chance of pace, as the large and heavy nature of the ship also meant it was rather steady at sea. He stood atop deck knowing he was the best security incase of anything out of the ordinary happening. It wasn't the most ideal relaxation before the mission, but he was meeting up with Kirigakure shinobi. Surely they'd be able to take over after his ship met up with them, it'd be then he could just kind of take a back seat in the operation. Just let some other guy do the heavy lifting he was sore.

Knowing the transport was slow, he'd expected to arrive later than the Kirigakure shinobi. He had his eyes peeled trying to assess what type of shinobi were assigned. It'd be cool if at the end of this he could get in a nice spar, but what he saw as the ship docked wasn't what he expected. At first he found himself looking at a cute girl flaunting her physique, but then the shine at her waist caught his eyes momentarily. The symbol of Kirigakure. He'd quickly go from a slouch he'd taken knowing he'd arrived, to being at attention and actually puffing up his chest. He'd look to the deck around her assess the landing. At least attempt to look like he'd be doing so, as the boat docked he'd hop off it.

The crew were more than capable of docking without him, so he'd go meet up with the babe he'd been partnered. "Heyyyy! Beautiful Kunoichi, you here for the joint mission? I'm Nakajima Taro, Chuunin representing Yukigakure for the mission." Taro announced his presence with enthusiasm and proceeded to immediately compliment the younger shinobi. Even if she wasn't here for that particular mission, she'd surely have some idea of what he was talking about. Hopefully point him in the right direction, so he could explain he gets easily lost. Convince her to just show him the way and perhaps a tour of the nearby area. The mission was important, but it could hold for a moment. The poor young man soon to be overwhelmed by beauties of Kirigakure's finest.

RAISE YOUR BANNER, WON'T YOU COME

It had been a while since the gate guard from Kirigakure had been on a mission outside of the country, but the change was welcome. It had been hasty business as some supplies were missing from the original shipment and Kasumi's ship had already sailed, so they commandeered her two days off and assigned her to aid in the mission as well as bring the supplies to their destination as swift as she possibly could. Luckily the ship was smaller and not so heavily loaded, the captain told her they'd make good time and if they sailed with few breaks, they might even arrive before the others. 

Of course, no such thing would happen. Meiko helped out where she could and otherwise kept to herself, when their destination was in sight, she started checking her equipment and scouted for the Yukigakure and Kirigakure shinobi. 

Not until they were in the process of docking did she spy the younger kunoichi, the Demon Cat Momochi Kasumi. Dark hair and a revealing outfit, but mostly known for her unusual chakra cloak and flares. She had her colleagues ad gossiped plenty about her - and others- on her shifts.

Another was approaching her - dark hair and clad rather simply considering it was a mission- and after looking over his appearance she concluded it must be the shinobi from Yukigakure. Meiko tightened she shawl-like belt, muttering to herself, "this will be fun."

Meiko made her way to the two others. The sun would catch the silver plate denoting her affiliation rather easily as it was tied around her forehead. She wore a simple salmon pink kimono over the standard Kirigakure uniform, looking much like the foot soldier she was and Kasumi might recognize her more easily than their dark haired companion from Yukigakure due to her comings and goings through the gates during her time as a genin and chuunin. 

"Hi, you are here for the joint mission, correct? Momochi-sans ship forgot a few supplies, so I was assigned to help out and bring the extra supplies to you." She turned her attention to the shinobi from Yukigakure, "I am Kaguya Meiko, pleased to meet you."

It didn't take too long for Kasumi's partner on the mission to arrive, an older boy who didn't seem to have a headband but instead his village symbol etched into his clothes. Maybe Yuki was just a little more lax? He introduced himself quickly, and it would seem as if Kasumi hardly noticed the compliment he gave her. She got the same compliment from a lot of people, it was hard to phase her now.

"Aa. Hello, it's good to meet ya. I'm Momochi Kasumi, but you can just call me Kasumi." Before they could talk more, a somewhat familiar face approached the pair. Kaguya Meiko, a name for the face that Kasumi had seen while passing through the gates of Kiri. "They forgot some stuff? Tch. Typical. Well, the more the merrier. I'm Momochi Kasumi, if you missed the introduction. Just call me Kasumi though."

Kasumi felt a little out of place as the youngest in the group, even if they were all the same rank in the eyes of the village. It was nice to have back up for her first B rank, though. Even if she hadn't worked with them before.

"How do you guys suggest we start? I was thinking searching the immediate area for any bandit camps while the others unload the boats. Don't want to get stuck with a camp next to a swarm of bandits or something."

Not to mention that the quite traveling had made Kasumi itching for a little exercise. She was always happy to get that in with a fight. She'd fought raiders before, but this island was supposed to be dangerous. Even for Shinobi of their rank.

The male couldn't help being further thrown off as the second Kirigakure shinobi arrived. At this point if his memory played him right, every single Kirigakure shinobi he's met has been a chick. He felt all the more cocky as it seemed their was some sort of luck to him and Kirigakure. "Daaaamn! Are all the mist shinobi major hotties?!" Taro exclaimed enamored by these well endowed women.

He'd attempt to straighten up his stance and be a bit more professional, as he'd give a quick salute and restate his name for the newcomer. "Nakajima Taro, chuunin from Yukigakure reporting. Don't worry, I come packing the heat too." He'd state ending on a more boastful note, as he'd flex his bicep and at the same time ignite his fist a flame. To both show off his physical might, as well as demonstrate a little of what they could expect. More so making his pun hopefully all the more impactful and cool.

It seemed they're all the same rank? So it didn't really seem there'd be a leader and team vibe. It wasn't his first time working on par with others, but he wasn't the type to lead. Strategizing and making the important decisions were typically left to someone else, so when Kasumi would go ahead and suggest a plan Taro would accept it. Perhaps too distracted by his perceived fortune, he'd simply nod confidently at the idea of searching the island. He would look to Meiko if they'd interject or suggest something else.

If Meiko turned out to be the silent type like his old partner, then he'd refocus on Kasumi replying. "That sounds like a plan I can get behind. Strike now before they can prepare and maybe gain the element of surprise on them." He'd attempt to make this plan sound more sound, but realistically he wasn't about the element of surprise. He simply wanted to fight the enemy and if someone's strategy was as simple as to go fight the enemy. Well then nothing sounds like a better idea to him, so he'd give her the thumbs up and let them lead granted Meiko hadn't proposed something else and taken that leader role instead.
