There is only one path left to take.

The traveling hadn't been too rough on the pair of shinobi that needed to get to their mission. Jun and Kasumi were able to get to know each other a little more, train a little bit, and even better there was no trouble with pirates or bandits. So far it seemed like the mission description wasn't too far off. Now all they had to do was pick out a nice spot for their trade base and make sure that they looked like they were only there to set up a humble trade base.

That part should be easy, because that was completely the plan.

"Alrighty, Jun, looks like works about to start." Kasumi said as the boat made contact with land. "What should we start with first? I'd say probably setting up a basic camp for us to build around. Could be anything around here. Not all friendly."

Not to mention a place to lay ones head and a tent to keep out the elements was always great. Kasumi found that everyone worked harder when they could properly relax, and she had no intention on being accused of being a slave driver to Yuki's workers.

"I'll start unloading the heavy stuff. You can get some of the smaller stuff and help the surveyors pick out a good starting spot, aye?"

Kasumi would nod towards the group getting off the boat. Civilians, but this was more their area of expertise than hers.

With that being noted, the girl would exit off of the boat and be asked where they’d need to start first. "I would say the best option would be undoubtedly be to set up our camp here first…lay down the encampment while one of works to secure it.” the gril would recall something she’d seen.

"If I recall there were some Kumogakurian shinobi in the area…we’ll need to be cautious if we encounter any, this is one of the reasons I was told to come on board.” she’d state the information was noted on the briefing she was given earlier and figured Kasumi would’ve known as such. "Do you think we should split up or would you rather work together? To secure the perimeter first?” the girl attempted to consider every possible angle specifically that involving the Kumogakure shinobi in a method to make sure that everything went off without a hitch protecting her as well as her allies.

She was still a novice and didn’t have too many abilities that lent themselves rather well to her during a fight so having Kasumi around would be quite beneficial to her.

Jun as well didn't seem sure about what to do to start, but also said that setting up camp was fine enough. Kasumi agreed. "I don't think we should split up. I'd feel a little bad if I wasn't there and something happened to you. How about this. We make sure the areas secure, line up where we want to set our camp, then we'll help unload."

Seemed like the safest option. They did have a few hours before the daylight ended, so they didn't have to rush after anything. If there were guards from Kumo wandering around, then it would be best to set up out of their way.

"I know the mission says that we aren't to cause any trouble, but if we do find ourselves with some trouble make sure you let me take the lead alright? I am a Chuunin afterall. Done this a few times. Just watch my back, alright?"

Kasumi hoped that didn't come off as condescending but as her first joint mission and also with the rank of her partner... she had to be extra careful. Last thing she wanted to do was damage the relationship with Yuki.

"Let's get moving." She'd say, leading the way towards the perimeter.

"Yes Ma’m.” she was going to pay close attention to Kasumi’s actions she’d never really seen to many chunin in action and hadn’t gone on any major missions outside of a few smaller missions with more experienced shinobi. When the woman spoke she addressed her with a confidence in her words she was sound and spoke like a leader it was something she aspired too and felt assured by her words.

"Of course, I trust you.” her words inspired her and with that she’d move with Chunin following her orders. As they moved and walked the girl would open her notebook and remove a paintbrush readying a few seals in the event that she may need them in the future. She’d tie them to Kunai and keep them at the ready if she needed too use them not wanting to take an unnecessary risk if she didn’t have too, especially when it came to the revelation of her dojutsu, just because they were allies meant she had to divulge everything she’d let it happen naturally and if she needed it she’d use it.

Kasumi would nod, glad the girl understood to leave the combat to her. She just hoped that the girl didn't think that meant she didn't have to step up and shine on her own this mission. She started walking towards the open area, spying a few spots.

"We'd prolly want to look at spots near the water. For a port. Defensible and hard for riff raff to invade. Ideally inland enough to have solid land. Hn." Kasumi would look over the area. She was hardly a tactician. "Close to the boat would be nice too. Don't want to lug the supplies too far, aye."

A spot halfway between the port and the trading post would be best to set up their temporary camp for the next few nights. Kasumi was looking around, but an objective opinion would say that the spot they were standing on was perfect for it.

"Also should look out for patrols from other villages. Don't want to step too much on their toes. Just need to pick a good spot." Kasumi would talk and talk as she tried to make up her mind.

"You got any ideas? You know this area probably as well as I do, to be honest. I was sheltered in Kirigakure."

An understatement for sure. She hardly left her village.

[attr="class","skullbody"]As the two looked about at the area, Kasumi would denote what would be a good spot for a port, as she looked about the girl would see some of the sea shore that seemed to show a vast and endless ocean whirpool country was pleasant to look at around this time of year and while there was a great deal of snow still on the ground she imagined it must look even grander in the springtime.

As she kept looking out at everything, she’d be told to keep an eye for patrols. "For an island that’s uncharted, I find it interesting Kumogakurian forces would be surveying the area? Perhaps they may have wanted it for themselves?” the girl would wonder trying to piece together just what their reasoning could be however such inquiry was neither here nor there and not entirely pertinent so long as they remained neutral and didn’t cause a stir.

After making her statement know the girl would look back at the younger genin asking her if she had any good ideas about just where they could set up their camp. "Well I’ve traveled only a few times since becoming a genin and while I’m not too familiar with Ushien geography judging by the area…hmm.” She’d look around at the environment seeing if it provided adequate shelter from the elements, there weren’t many trees but some of the footprints she noticed did seem to denote they’re may have been wildlife nearby.

"This seems like a more than suitable location for the rest of the crew, and provides an even ground to haul the supplies once everyone is ready to get started.” the girl would say giving the woman a pleasant smile she always seemed to be in a chipper mood she had wondered what some others may have thought of that.

Kasumi's partner would speculate about why Kumo would be eyeing the area, but Kasumi hadn't honestly given it much thought. She just knew her own orders on the matter, and left the reasoning and all that to her higher ups. She had enough to deal with as a swordsman.

"Aa. Right. I guess we're standing on a rather good spot. Good eye, Jun." She'd compliment. With the plan for their temporary camp picked, Kasumi would look back to the ship with the supplies. "Let's get some supplies down then. I'll help with the lumber and all. You mind picking spots for storage? Make sure you keep your head up for patrols or attacks."

Kasumi would offer, still scanning the nearby area to make sure it seemed clear. If Jun agreed, the Momochi would start towards the boat. Careful to stay near her partner in case there was a sudden attack. The mission might not expect any resistance but a shinobi always had to expect the unexpected. It's how they stayed alive.

The lumber that Kasumi would be carrying would be heavy, but she would be able to carry a bundle by herself where the other sailors seemed to need two people to pull it off. They'd look to Jun for instructions on how to tactically lay out the supplies.

After all, if Kasumi was in charge of that there was a good chance they'd be working twice as hard as they needed to.

[attr="class","skullbody"]Having been complimented by the the girl filled the Muramatsan with pride and she would graciously accept it and then be told of their next set of plans which would be to bring over the supplies and assist the men from the ship. Kasumi would take to handling the lumber once again putting on that display of strength that Jun found herself so impressed by.

As the others came with extra supplies she would give orders telling everyone where to go working with some of the more senior members of their naval department. To tell them where to set everything down at. "Place the extra lumber away from the tents if they break from the binding we don’t want anyone getting hurt!” after a few hours it would seem that the large campsite was complete.

Several small fires having been lit with many of the sailors taking a well deserved rest for the evening inside their tents, Jun appreciated the sight as she could hear the sounds of shanties quietly sung in the night, as their boat stood docked not too far from where they rested their heads. "Looks like most of the hardwork is done.” Jun would think as she made her way towards a tent where Kasumi was staying bringing her a cup of warm tea she had made from scratch, it had a rather strong smell but was pleasant to the senses.

"Kasumi are you in here! I made you some tea, I figured you might be tired.” it was a kind gesture and with Kasumi having done the more physical aspect of their work she figured she deserved something to lift her spirits.

Jun was quick to pick a fine spot for the lumber to be stored. The first day would be spent mostly setting up work areas and a camp for the group as they got ready to start building, but it was far from easy work. Kasumi helped a lot in making it possible to finish in a single day, with her strength letting her move the lumber much faster than an average shinobi. Once they were all settled in, she was quick to retire to her tent, her muscles sore and knowing that sleeping on the ground in a tent wouldn't do her very many favors.

She wasn't sleeping yet when she heard Jun ask if she was in there. Kasumi's first thought was danger, and she opened her tent flap quickly with a hand on her sword.

"Aa. Tea?" Kasumi had never really been much of a tea drinker. She preferred a hearty meal over a calming drink generally. "Thanks."

She took it either way, the warmth relaxing her a bit. It smelled nice enough. "Have you eaten yet? I have some rations I can share if you'd like."

If Jun accepted, the two would have nice tea and a meal for a short period before they heard noise at the edge of camp. It seemed that a patrol had, in fact, come by.

"Eh... be careful. We'll try to handle this diplomatically but if it gets dicey be ready."

"Kasumi, It’s only me I promise.” the girl would say with a chuckle. "Are you always this excitable?" After accepting her warm cup of tea Kasumi would share some of her rations and the two would take some time to rest for a brief moment, as she consumed some of her food she'd look towards the Kirigakurian shinobi once again a calm tone in her voice her trademark chiperness.

"I noticed you were a swordsman, did you make it yoursel–” however before she could finish her sentence Jun herself would also notice the noise that had come from a distance, and would hear the girl speak noting that there might’ve been someone nearby, she was told to come with her. As Such Jun would follow along, it was dark in the night and as such the girl would infuse her staff with a small amount of Katon which would ignite the tip which she would use like a torch as they made their way towards the sound of whatever was causing the disturbance.

"Yes Ma’m I’m right behind you, if it happens to be members of the Kumogakure please allow me to speak with them first.” the girl wasn’t sure what to expect and it would've been her first time dealing with a foreign delegation she was equal parts eager for the challenge but also weary if her words fell on deaf ears. And if it came too it she was ready to support Kasumi in combat if needed and had a few plans in mind, but still her skills weren't the best in comparison to her compatriot.

Kasumi only raised a brow at the first question. She didn't think of herself as excitable. Cautious, definitely, but maybe excitable could apply too. Either way, she'd rather be called excitable or cautious over dead. When you were a shinobi it only took a few moments of weakness to end everything you've ever had.

"On a mission, generally. It's why I've made it back from every one so far, I imagine." She said with a bit of a smug smirk. They enjoyed the tea and rations, but the inevitable questions were cut off. Kasumi was almost thankful. "I'm feeling alright. A bit sore and tired but nothing I can't get over with a nights rest."

"Right. I'll let you do the talking. I'm sure you're better trained for something like that." Kasumi agreed with a small nod.

As they approached the commotion, they would notice first a team of coordinated people. Two guys and one girl. As they got closer they might spot the Kumogakure headbands on the group. The workers that spotted them backed away as Jun and Kasumi approached.

"Right. It's as you predicted. I'll let you do the talking, but don't give them more than they need alright? Leave any deals outside of building to the Kage's. It's what they're here for, after all."

Kasumi has become known for her strange chakara form. When in a dire situation, she is capable of releasing her chakra, which in turn takes a strange color unlike the normal blue color of chakra, and takes the form of a demonic cat figure. She is then enveloped in a demon shroud.

This ability grants her a fierce looking aura, that may come off as intimidating and a tenacity to push beyond their normal limits physically- when this mode is activated, Kasumi is harder to knock out or kill and will generally fight for longer than a normal body is capable of.

Kasumi was born with higher than average chakara reserves, letting her use more chakara and jutsu without being exhausted. A natural gift from her lineage. She has learned how to properly take advantage of these reserves.

"I see…perhaps I’ll take some cues from you myself then.” she’d say enthusiastic at the thought, perhaps it was something she could attempt to implement herself being a tad bit more cautious to never let one’s guard down, yes an excellent idea.

The woman would denote that she was going to be fine due to the strain she put herself under. The girl was still somewhat concerned but so long as she was confident she wouldn’t worry about it too much.

However shortly after the two of them spoke there was a commotion at the front of camp which seemingly drew the attention of the others, Kasumi and Jun would approach and Jun would recognize the headbands of the individuals in question as those of the members of the Kam delegation that they should’ve been expecting.

"What goes on here…?” one of the men said he was the tallest of the trio and had dark skin with a short haircut and spoke with an imposing tone, he would recognize the headbands that the two wore as being those of Kirigakure and Yukigakure respectively. "This is Kaminari no Kuni territory, what’re you doing here?” the tall male would say. Seeing this notion the girl would clear her throat.

"Hello there sir, I’m Jun, Jun Muramatsa of Yukigakure diplomacy corps my apologies for this intrusion, my colleagues and I are here to build a small base to use as a trading hub.” the girl would say giving a measured response to the situation in question.

The man would then look around taking note of everyone that happened to be there. "I see, we saw the ship and were somewhat curious about your involvement?” he would ask as he saw the large encampment of people. "Yes, quite, our nations respective leaders wanted to make certain that we were well staffed, we're simply here to conduct our business and then we'll be off.” the girl would reply trying to give another strong supplementary response to everything. The man seemed placated for now however his other two colleagues weren't sure of what to make of the situation.

Kasumi had never really tried her hand much at diplomacy, and if she was being honest she wasn't sure where to even start with it. She never had a lot of friends in her life either, and the ones she made she had a tendency to aggravate after any length of time. Hell, she was still pretty sure that an Okada would assault her if she went to Iwakagure again. That was a bag of rats she didn't care to open.

So, she was more than content to stand behind Jun as she spoke to the opposing ninja. A hand rested on her sword, probably doing little to ease the tensions but the Demon refused to be caught off guard if things did go south.

She would, however, direct some of the extra hands away. Urging them towards their tents to get uninvolved. They had already shown the amount of people that they had here and they might make guesses based on that.

Jun seemed diplomatic enough for the both of them, though. She would explain away the people and why they were there in one fell swoop. It was just up to the other group to believe them. Trading outposts might benefit the region in many ways that they didn't think of, probably.

Kasumi would leave that type of thinking to the Kage.

"We do have an early morning tomorrow though. We should get some rest, if these guys will let us." Kasumi said to Jun, but loud enough for the foreign ninja to hear.

And he’d look towards them; he didn't seem to want to cause too much trouble even if there was a small degree of suspicion, especially hearing the other girls words and noting the hand she had on her blade. Not wanting to exacerbate the situation he'd leave them be. "Carry on then.” the man would remark as he and his compatriots departed the locale.

With that Jun would smile at them as they left and once they were clear she’d turn about spotting Kasumi once again with her hand on her sword. "Your posture could’ve caused trouble if they saw you, I can't negotiate if there's a perceived tension.” she’d say with a chuckle as she watched the girl once she turned around, but she knew she had her reasons for it.

As everyone else settled back into camp it seemed as thought it was getting late and there was a good deal of construction to be done. "We should rest, I’ll see you in the morning.” with that the girl would return back towards her tent getting a good nights sleep before waking in the morning for the next part of their workload.

Kasumi raised a brow as she was told about her posture. Jun was polite about it, but Kasumi was still unsure of how those types of things worked. It's not like they were firmly aggressive with Kumo, but they were far from friends. At least, last Kasumi remembered that was true.

"Eh. You did fine enough even with the posturing. Let's you negotiate from a position of power, or something. Right?" Kasumi still didn't understand diplomacy well. It was good that there was a trained diplomat on their team. "I'll try to relax more if they come back again. For now, we should get some rest. I think it might be a good idea to sleep in shifts. One of us keeps watch."

After all, never knew if those guys would be back to investigate further or not. "I'll let you sleep first. I'll need a minute to settle down anyway."

If she agreed, Kasumi would do the first watch and then get her own rest for the next day. She hoped nothing would happen on Jun's shift, but had doubts about the area being too dangerous. The other shinobi clearly didn't want to escalate the situation either.

Assuming things did go well overnight, the two would have a big and full day of work ahead of them. Luckily they had a large crew to support them.
