Niko Kawai was a well-traveled woman, and when she could, she sought new and exciting adventures. Her journeys mostly took her throughout her homeland of Hi no Kuni. She had known it quite well, especially so given her time as a village leader and the other as a space-traveling savant.
However, as times changed slightly, so did her availability. Now opportune with a little more time, she sought to take advantage of it and see other intriguing, distant lands. For so long, she had worked with the shinobi of Sunagakure, yet, rarely had she had the time to see the remote desert city. She had known the village for its breathtaking beauty and rich cultural history. The importance of rekindling and renewing significant diplomatic ties allowed her to satiate her encyclopedic interests.
She packed her bags and set out on her journey, eager to see what new things the village had in store for her from her last visit. As she traveled across the desert, she was awed by the endless expanse of sand and the shimmering heat waves that rose from the ground. She felt a sense of freedom and excitement, knowing that she was exploring a place not many of her fellow leaf shinobi got to see.
When she finally arrived at the city, she was greeted by the towering walls surrounding it and the bustling markets filling its streets. Niko spent her days exploring the city, visiting its ancient temples, sampling its unique cuisine, and speaking with the locals.
She was fascinated by the city’s rich history and culture and was always eager to learn more. She spent hours reading ancient texts and studying the intricate murals and carvings that adorned the city’s buildings. And every night of her diplomatic mission, she would retire to her room, filled with a sense of wonder and excitement about much of what she had seen and learned.
On this day, she neared what appeared to be a more desolate, less urban part of Sunagakure. The village’s shinobi were tenacious, she could tell. One part derived from the largely harsh environment, but the second appeared from their inner intrepidity. Purple eyes would take note of a particular kunoichi who appeared to be exerting extra effort into her exercises.
"Your form is excellent!” the blond stated animatedly, speaking a little beyond conversational distance.
"But won’t you leave the bar useable for those after you?”, she mentioned, noticing the impressions the Suna kunoichi left on an increasingly crushed metal bar.
