Rain gently tapped against the roof of the transport. It was cool, but the chill was kept at bay by heavy fabrics, tea, and good company. Meiko had accepted a rather unconventional mission for her status, but it seemed the Mizukage or his underlings thought she would be capable of completing it. So she had met up with a local entertainer and shipped out. Their ship had docked between Hi no kuni and Kaze no kuni, for them to travel up through the land and through nohara and Arashi country. It had been rather painless, but now they were approaching the border of Stone Country from Arashi no kuni.[break][break]

Meiko brushed her orange hair behind her ear, her fingertips brushing past the flower hairpin her companion had lent her. Hazel eyes caught the entertainer looking out the carriage. A captivating individual and someone who seemed to have their own set of rules. Suspicious, but useful if she looked at them through her Shiryu butai perspective. Regardless of their dealings, Meiko welcomed the company and cover the other could provide. Just two entertainers traveling to new cities and seeking new customers.[break][break]

While Hisako's role was preestablished, Meiko had been cast as both an acrobatic individual and a geisha in training. A meiko, funnily enough. Meiko gazed out and saw the border marking approaching. One hand touched the scroll she was supposed to note her findings in. She was terrible at fuinjutsu, but now she wished she was not and had sealed the damn thing in herself or a bracelet. She would just have to swallow it or something if she was caught... Ideally, she would hand it over to the Mizukage personally.

Hisako had mostly attempted to blandly entertain his traveling companion throughout the travels. Some jokes had landed successfully others were less so. He did not care either way. Some things he had said were morbid, talking about the world ending or some such as the rain pattered away. On and on until finally their transport lurched at a checkpoint and they were searched.

"What is your purpose?"

Hisako leaned forward practically out the window towards the checkpoint guards that were inspecting their vehicle.

"Can't entertainers travel without issue?" He huffed and pouted, putting on a bit of an act.

"Oh, entertainers are ya?" The guard rolled his eyes.

"Where are your permits?

He glanced to the young woman before pulling out a scroll with his identification handing it to the man.

The guard looked it over, a grimace of annoyance on his features. The guards here clearly preferred to do nothing. Lazing about. So when push came to shove, it was just more a frustration than something they enjoyed or took pride in doing. The identification was returned and Hisako sat back with a thud.

"And what about you miss?" The guard was staring at the red-head then, his arms folded across his chest.

Meiko watched, slightly nervous and her body tensed up somewhat, as Hisako handed over their identification and it was scrutinized by the guard. They were just doing their job, but this man? A sour puss with extra sour powder added on top of it all... She ruffled through her own things as the guard made motions to hand over the identification, she would pull out a similar-looking scroll, popped the leather wrap holding it closed, and handed it over. Hopefully, the people in charge of the false identification had done their job well and the guard would find nothing to put a finger on. [break][break]"It is a double act, Mister. Here you go~" She did her best to be soft, in her voice and in her features. Perhaps he would thaw up a bit and be sell sour about their arrival and departure... [break][break]

If it was accepted and handed back, Meiko would lock the scroll again and put it away. Likely with an offended pout if the guard was snarky... Meiko would sit back down and wait for the wagon to continue on. Where would they go? Likely the first town they met. Ask around and figure out where the biggest collection of people lived. Try their luck with a few cities before attempting to locate the shinobi village. It was likely quite a trek to find it... Additionally, they would need business in the village beyond their act. She had wondered about what she would hire them to do, pack her things? Escort her to the border? Just in case Hisako wanted to stick around the country. That might work.

The scroll was handed back to Hisako who rolled his eyes and tucked it away after putting it back in place. Then it was the red-heads turn. The guard sneered for a moment, being clearly grizzled, scrutinizing the whole thing. But he ultimately decided that the identification scroll was fine and with a flick of the wrist handed it back to the lady with a smirk.

"You two have a nice visit, but no funny business. Bah... Entertainers." He shook his head returning to his post.

The wagon would wheel on then with the whip of the reins against the poor animals pulling it along. On they went, several more hours before they found the nearest town. A sleepy little thing with not much going on it, Hisako had resorted to doodling idly in that time, letting the silence draw on with almost a painful cadence. Occasionally he yawned, but otherwise he doodled and stared out the miniature window. Though upon arriving to town he perked up a little bit.

"Oh fancy," He drawled, but only sarcastically before he glanced towards the girl.

"Want to get out here? Walk around? Barely anyone here, might be a waste." But of course he also simply did not want to get out of the wagon.

Hisako doodled and gazed out the window, silent. How great. But honestly? Meiko did not mind too much. In an attempt to fill the time after leaving the gate, Meiko took to studying her identification scroll. She already knew its contents, but what if she suddenly forgot? Unlikely to happen, but it filled the time. Once it had been read front to back it was packed away and she took to gazing out the window, looking for things of importance such as watch towers, powerlines, and anything else suggesting the foundation supporting the society and the shinobi village. [break][break]

When they arrived at the first town Hisako asked if she wanted to get out, even though there weren't really any people here. Meiko regarded what little she could see from the wagon. Perhaps it was useless. Perhaps not. She doubted she should leave it unexplored. She looked back at Hisako, "I will go have a look, I would like to stretch my legs a little, too. You just stay here if you'd like - I will be right back" [break]

With that she exited the wagon, wearing a soft smile and an otherwise neutral expression. She would take a walk around the town, hoping to find something of note. If she found nothing, she would return to the wagon and jump back in and head on toward their next destination. In her hand, she would have a small box of local snacks, a local map, and a small charm. She would mark the location on her empty map and place it back into her belongings along, keeping the local map for her to study on the journey.

Hisako let out a yawn, bored out of his mind and completely disinterested in what was happening. The girl, however, told him to stay put while she investigated. He let out an almost petulant whine, more boredom. But she was already gone.

As she explored, she could note a few farmers here and there. It was, however, a small village. Just a minor blip in the nation, nothing worth nothing other than perhaps those farmers - a food source of sorts?

Regardless Meiko returned to the wagon and off they went again. Hisako occasionally fiddling with his garb, wanting to get out and explore by foot, getting antsy. They had so much space to cover!

Soon enough they arrived at another town, this one, well it was immediately visible that it was larger - much larger. Bustling with activity, merchants shouting about their wares, and a huge tower at the very center.

"Should I stay inside for this one too, or can I find somewhere to get a drink while you look around?" He joked dryly, there was a sense that he PROBABLY should not have actual alcohol on this expedition, but if they were going to spend more than one hour in any given location it was probably worth being a little inebriated for it.
