AN INTRO TO THE BOUT So the time had finally come where the aspiring Chuunin would face each other in a battle to decide who would be able to progress to the Final Round, and who would be eliminated. Saga was already impressed he had come this far, as he felt utterly unprepared for the challenges he faced, and yet - somehow - he managed to succeed. Maybe the deities were smiling upon the young boy from the Waterfall village after all. In any case, he was ready to do his very best, despite the fact that he was feeling tired from the previous rounds. This whole thing had been nothing short of a marathon, and he wondered if that was on purpose. "Maybe they wanna see if we can take the intensity of it... Or maybe they just forgot to let us rest... I think the later is more likely." he thought to himself, shrugging as he made his way to the rocky arena, hoping to meet his opponent there. Awa Uta, whoever that person was, she had proven capable of reaching the preliminary battle as well, so he would do well not to underestimate her. Saga didn't have a lot going on for him, other than his mastery over Fire Release, and a larger than usual Chakra Pool. But still, he was not going to let his lack of techniques and abilities make him feel blue. No, he was a fighter, he had survived a very rough life thus far, and if he needed to pass this exam to finally be acknowledged by his master and properly trained, well, he would do all in his power to make sure he would reach the Final Round. "Yo, sorry we are meeting in the battlefield, but it is what it is. I hope you don't hold it against me, but I'm going all out. I have something to prove." he would say the moment his opponent entered the battle field. He wouldn't do anything just yet, as he would be reading the room first and trying to assess what his opponent was going to do, but he did start waiving a few hand seals, in preparation for a potential jutsu, just in case. Urahira was happy as could be with the situation unfolding in front of her. As it stood, it was time to get her hands dirty. It had even worked out well for her, she got to let Uta do a lot of the boring stuff. Especially that first round, just walking down a road for like a whole day. And then she just sat on a scale. In all the ways that really mattered she hadn't even actually exerted herself much. This body could definitely do with sleep some time soon, but there hadn't been much use of chakra at all, and no real physical exertion to speak of.     That meant that Urahira felt more than prepared to step into the battlefield. Another blue haired genin took place opposite of her. He seemed nice enough, even if the girl found herself slightly annoyed at the verbiage. Is this just how people talked in other villages? It was weird. Urahira would probably given the formal, long introduction, but Urahira wasn't here for pleasantries. It was easier if she didn't make friends.      "Right or left?" the girl started off, making the first of what she hoped would be very few hand seals in this bout. The quicker she got done, the better. The less people learned about how she fought, the better. "I need to know which arm you prefer. If you're planning on going all out, I can't really promise you your safety. Just the way things go in a place like this."

"bubbly fire". "How can you move forward if you keep on regretting the past?" INITIATIVE Saga was definitely not expecting to get such a wicked response for such a kind looking girl. When she first asked right or left, he looked completely confused, not really understanding what she meant by that, but before he could actually ask, the girl revealed what was behind that eerie question, and his expression quickly shifted from his mild excitement, to concern and a hint of anger. "Why are you like this? Going all out for your people means maiming and killing a member of an allied village? If that's the case, it's just dumb." he said, scoffing and shaking his head. He was upset, that was clear, but he was also not oblivious to the cruel nature of the ninja world; he had lost his share of people. And if the girl wanted to fight in a way where their lives would be on the line, he would respond in kind, even if deep down, he hoped that was just the girl trying to look tough, bark but no bite. But he wasn't going to let his guard down. Holding the hand seal, Saga would charge in her direction and, if allowed to get into melee range, he would aim to throw a round kick at her face using his right leg, putting a good rotation with his hips to add power to it. He was using all of his strength in his attacks, even though - for now - he was aiming for a knock out only. "There is no such a thing as a painless lesson, they just don't exist. His reaction was perfect. Angry people tended to make dumb mistakes, especially when you poked at their ego. Especially when it was a boy. Urahira simply giggled as he responded, almost smirking as she saw him ready to take off towards her. If he was trying to get in close, there was no need to use the trampoline. Not at this speed. No handseals needed, so it was time to go straight on the attack. At least that seemed to be for the best.      He was going for a high kick. Uta had seen enough of the Okada families matches to pick up on the smaller things. And it didn't take much brain power to imagine ducking underneath the kick. Going far lower, and launching the counter. His leg was still in the air, redirection would be difficult. Her palm heading directly for the young mans leg, just above the knee. Close enough that Urahira would hopefully disable the limb temporarily. It would slow him down enough. And if she could succesfully do that, then she hoped he would be too slow to avoid the follow through. Already ducking down to get at the leg, seemed a decent enough time to kick the remaining leg out, and knock the young shinobi off his balance.     With a weakened leg getting up alone would likely take some time. NOT WHAT IT SEEMS The giggling seemed to just further irritated the boy, who charged against her as fast as he could, and aimed to hit her with a powerful round kick right to the face. But the girl seemed to be ready to react to such a direct attack, and she did so by dropping her centre of gravity, getting away from his attack. Her palm would aim for his leg, behind his knee, where she attempted to use her Corpse Limb technique to disable it. As her attack seemingly connected, the quick follow up with the her explosive tag, not giving him any breathing room. However, the moment she connected the tag, his body would vanish in a poof of smoke, leaving behind one of the rocks from the arena, an clever strategy using the Substitution Technique he had prepared earlier on the fight. Saga would reappear behind where Uta was, a fair distance between them so that he could also be away from the range of a potential explosion of her tag, as he quickly waived a new set of hand seals, banking on the fact that, without the crazy reflexes displayed by taijutsu fighters, she would be left with her guard open for enough time for him to take advantage of that. "Katon! Goryuuka no Jutsu!!" and from his mouth, Saga would expel a dragon head shaped fireball towards Uta. The fireball was as large as two men put together, and they were extremely powerful: a normal version of this technique was already strong enough to punch through solid walls of concrete, and so hot that even just grazing was enough to give their targets first degree burns. But Saga's Fire Release was stronger than average, thus making the fireball even more powerful and dangerous. And that was not the end of it. Assessing the situation, if Uta dodged the attack, he would adjust the trajectory and follow up with another fire ball, to a maximum of five, thus making any chances of escaping the assault very difficult. However, he still had no intention of killing her, and if he managed to get a clear hit and she seemed to be knocked out or seriously injured to the point of not being able to fight, he wouldn't continue. Because of that, he dedicated a great part of his Shinobi training to develop the use of Fire Release, making him quite proficient with the element. When he uses Fire Release techniques, he can make them significantly more powerful than what other shinobis of his level can hope to produce.

Urahira was, at the worst of times, a rather impulsive, ill-tempered girl with a head-strong attitude. Willing to berate authority, and rarely, if ever, willing to show any ounce of fear. At her best however, Urahira was a protector. She saw Uta has weak, fragile. And wether or not that was true, it lead to Urahira having a strong need to keep her safe, both mentally and physically. Even if Uta didn't fully know that Urahira was watching over her, Urahira still got the satisfaction of knowing she wasn't hurt.           In an environment like the chuunin exams, it became increasingly harder to truly protect Uta. This was dangerous. An environment where anything could happen. Like your enemy evaporating into a cloud of smoke. Substitution, a pretty basic technique, but one could never ignore its usefulness in battle. There were other, rather simple techniques that one could use in emergencies, many of which Uta had taken to learning, and Urahira had watched her do. One body, two minds. But for now at least, Urahira was the stronger of them. And began to sign for the Trampoline Barrier immediately. It would be either a get away or a counter. Urahira didn't know which yet.      Her eyes darted about, but it was the beginning of the loudly shouted jutsu that caught her attention. She turned just in time to see a giant ball of fire generating from the boys gullet. Uta held up the final seal, and a barrier would form in front of her. At the beginning it likely look purely defensive, but Uta hoped this would work. The fire would crash into the barricade, Urahira watched it bend. All she needed was to see it snap back and launch the ball of flames right back to it's sender.      Instead Urahira saw a mass of flames rupture her barricade. The jutsu much stronger than she had realized. And the ball of flame would slam into her like a ton of... well, fire. The girl was rolling across the ground, quickly seeing the flames overtake her, catching to her clothes. She could feel it burning her skin. She had to protect Uta, but wrapped in flames, there was only one way to do that now.      "I forfeit! This barrier is flexible and can catch the weight of up to 500 lbs before breaking. When an individual lands on it, the barrier will flex before launching them back up several feet. Regardless of how much the person or item weighs, after one use the barrier will break and fade away.

"bubbly fire". "How can you move forward if you keep on regretting the past?" BLAZING VICTORY His strategy worked like clockwork, and he couldn't help but to feel a sense of pride inside of him. "Kaida would be proud! I actully managed to use my head this time! Not in a headbutt kind of way..." he thought to himself as he saw the girl prepare a barrier to try and intercept his technique. Still, that technique was his main ace. Maybe it was foolish of him to use it on the preliminary rounds, with other people watching, but alas, he really wanted to make it to the next round, he had something to prove not only to himself, but to the man who insisted on sending him to his apparent death, as if he was just an inconvenience to get rid of. As the dragon head hit the barrier, it initially bent it before destroying it, and the girl was hit by the huge fireball. Saga would exhale, knowing there was no need to follow up with the other four fireballs, as she seemed to have been defeated. Engulfed in the searing flames, the girl screamed for help after saying she forfeit and Saga would be the first one to jump to her aind. Removing his shirt, he would grab a bunch of the arena's dirt and carry it on his shirt close to the girl, who was rolling on the ground, trying to put the fire out. As someone who dealt with fire often, he knew that dirt was a good way to put it out, and he would dump all the dirt he had accumulated and carried over on his shirt, hoping that would be enough to either put it out completely, or just enough before the proctor took care of business. "I'm sorry I hurt you, but I couldn't risk it. I hope you will be okay, even though you threated me." he said, his expression was somewhat pained from seeing her suffering, but his sympathy was limited considering their initial exchange. With that said, Saga would drop his shirt over one of his shoulders, and walk out of the arena as the victor. He had made it to the last round, and he was proud of himself. "I did it for you as well, Kaida. And for you, coach aunty." he thought to himself. "There is no such a thing as a painless lesson, they just don't exist. The fire was spreading quickly across Urahira's skin. Even trying to hold back, a jutsu this powerful, taken full force, is going to cause a lot of damage. Urahira had not defended properly, she wasn't prepared for a move this strong, and here she was facing the consequences of her actions. It seemed stronger than anything someone the level of Saga should be able to create.      When it first hit her, Urahira immediately felt the heat. She didn't feel pain, no, she just felt the intense heat. As if the fire, instead of being actively attached to her, was simply a campfire she was too close with. And yet, she didn't feel the relief of the sweat. She felt nothing but sheer panic. She went to roll on the ground to put the fire out, and as she put her arm down, her screams began in full. Her arm was in incredible pain, but not a burning pain from the outside, rather the feeling of broken bones began to pulse.      It wasn't just her arm. She coughed as the smoke from her burning clothes and flesh filled her lungs, and those coughs lead to a searing pain in her chest as she realized the multiple broken ribs within. If she tried to stand, she'd feel her right hip grinding, and the additional broken bones in her legs. Yet still, she needed to roll over, so she would scream louder in pain as she tried to push through it. Letting Saga help put out the fire. The proctors quickly rushed over to do the same. One of them using some simple water jutsu to put out the flames, another beginning to do some sort of pain relief to the girl.      She was in shock. She was panicking. So many people were around her...     Urahira couldn't handle it. Unfortunately, someone else would be force to.      Uta blinked her eyes open. Where was she? Who were all these people. She looked around at the terrified and worried faces around herm before looking the same direction they were. She looked down at her arms and saw... white?      It took a moment for her to fully realize. She was looking at the deep layers of fat that should usually be covered by her skin. Her arms were covered in deep burns, and as she dully processed what she was seeing, her brain managed to catch up to the pain it was causing. The brief moments of calm as she awoke were gone, and her screams of pain... her screams of fear, began. "W-what the hell!? Who are you! Where am I!? W-what happened to me?" the concerned glares from the proctors seemed to grow even deeper with worry, as they quickly went to the process of getting the girl into the hands of the medics.  SPOILER: Click to show
