Kizumi tried—as often as she could, anyway—to help the twins along in their career development. Since she was given the Kage hat, it had gotten harder and harder to do so, and for different reasons than before; when they were younger, it was simply that she was never home, always off on a ship or ranging far afield to handle whatever business needing handling. Now she was home all the time, but perpetually and sincerely busy, and while at least once a day she thought of the boys, it was rare that she took any action to follow up on that thought. But Katsuo had asked for help improving his accuracy, and Daisuke had been able to help her shuffle some appointments around to make it happen: so here she was at the training field. "Alright, kid, here’s the deal,” Kizumi said, cocking her head and placing a hand on her hip. "Every shinobi and their mother can hit a stationary target; if you want better accuracy, you need to practice hitting things that move. We’ll start big and go smaller until you’ve got it down.” A single handseal, and two shadow clones poofed into existence on Kizumi’s flanks. They each hopped off to the side, and each pulled out a kunai, presumably for deflection purposes. "Any questions?”

His training was normally done alone for Katsuo. Be it with target dummies or simply working with the architecture or environment around him. While it wasn't the worst training it lacked instruction and guidance. Sure he had scrolls he could read on how to do things and figure out the fundamentals of things, but it wasn't the same as having a teacher to help guide him along the learning process. So he would ask for help from the one person he felt he could trust the most and that was Kizumi the Raikage. She was both strong and talented plus the added benefit of being family certainly helped in his opinion. Sure she wasn't a part of the clan so she couldn't help him that much with the clan jutsu, but at least she could help with some of his other training objectives.[break][break]

Which was what she was doing today for him to practice his aim and improve his accuracy to be more precise. Katsuo felt that by practicing this skill he could make it to where his weapons would be almost impossible to dodge. Add the fact he could control them and he would have the best arsenal at his disposal to hit enemies from afar. At least in his mind, that's how he saw it. So improving this skill set would certainly prove beneficial for his growth as a shinobi.[break][break]

This training specifically would be about hitting a moving target and the target in question would be no other than Kizumi's clones. "At least I don't have to hit the real you," Katsuo would say as he looked at the two clones with their kunai in hand. "Guess you want me to also try and anticipate them seeing the attacks so I can get better at hitting their blind spots too?" Katsuo would ask pointing to the kunai the two clones held.

Kizumi grinned, bright and proud. "Wrong!” she said brightly. "I’ll be a part of it too. Don’t worry about it, baby, I can take a few hits. Figuring out which one is the real me in the thick of it is important too, you know.” He’d always been a bright boy; he was right on the money with his question. "Yep, exactly right,” she replied. "My side will be focusing on defending for now. Once you get the hang of it, I’ll press an attack while you keep practicing. Then we move on to smaller targets.” Her two clones began circling the training area; not at any great speed, but at the careful pace of an ambush predator evaluating their prey. Kizumi herself took a few steps back, summoning her greatsword to hand from the strap on her wrist and grasping the hilt of the blade in one hand, as though the massive weapon were weightless, effortless to carry. She took up a defensive stance, the broad blade of the sword covering the majority of the front of her body, her lone eye peeking over the edge of the blade as she watched to see what Katsuo would do. Once he made a motion towards taking the offense, her clones would pick up the pace, creating more of a challenge for his accuracy.

Katsuo wasn't sure how he felt about even remotely hurting Kizumi even if it was just a simple nick and scratch from him. Sure she had to be strong to even be given the title of Raikage she was still family though and he didn't want to hurt his family. Even Natsuo was a part of this thought process though Katsuo would never admit that out loud to anyone. Still, he had to have faith in his aunt that she would be okay even with him aiming arrows and other projectiles at her. "For the sake of training," Katsuo would mutter to himself when Kizumi would explain her role in this training.[break][break]

Not long afterward the training exercise would begin with Kizumi's clones circling the training area almost like a pack of vultures. It was a tad ominsing to Katsuo even more so when Kizumi summoned a greatsword to use as a defensive tool which honestly made Katsuo a bit nervous. Yet at the same time excited. Adrenaline started to fill his body as he decided to start simple in this practice. Pulling out his bow he would notch an arrow in his quiver then taking careful aim he would release the string and send an arrow flying towards one of the clones. Once the arrow was released from his grip though he would quickly reload another arrow while spinning on the spot and shoot an arrow at the other clone.

Kizumi could sense Katsuo’s hesitation still—it was writ plain on his face, clear as day. She was sympathetic, for sure, but that kind of hesitation could get him killed in a real-life scenario, and while it wasn’t terribly likely that he’d ever end up in a real to-the-death fight against a loved one, it would be better to help him work past that hesitation sooner than later. Transformation technique or genjutsu or just simple trickery—any number of things could make someone believe they were fighting someone they weren’t, and he needed to be hardened to that before it became a problem. An arrow came flying for one clone; it dodged deftly out of the way. The second clone sliced the arrow heading its way out of the air, snapping the wooden shaft in two with a clean cut of its kunai. Both clones picked up speed now, circling around the arena faster and faster, forcing Katsuo to aim carefully and predict their movement in order to try to land a hit on either of them. The real Kizumi pulled a smokebomb from a pouch at her hip, holding her greatsword effortlessly in one hand as she bounced the smokebomb idly in her grip—with a mischievous glint in her eye, waiting to see if Katsuo was paying enough attention to realize what next obstacle she was going to throw his way.
