I WILL BE YOUR LIGHT, YOUR BEACON OF HOPE
Red had been granted leave from Takigakure to watch as Hotarubi and other genin participated in the recent chunin exams. As much as he wanted to, the genin didn't feel like he was quite ready to put his name in the running. Not yet, anyway. Hotarubi, on the other hand, had grown immensly since their former bout some year or so ago. And it certainly got him thinking.
'You need to train.' He thought to himself. 'Where are you weakest right now?'
The question rattled in his mind for some time as he mozied about the city of Kuwana. He knew Taijutsu was easily his greatest asset. He was never very good at manipulating chakra. He never felt like he had much to work with in the first place. Not like Ryuu, or Etsuko, or Kunikunosaku.
'Well, maybe that was a good place to start.' He mused, 'Focus on what you're good at and get better, and turn your weakness into an asset.' The genin let out a small sigh, a disgrunted expression forming over his typically emotionless face. 'But how?'
He continued to walk around the city, trying to appreciate the vastly different sights and atmosphere from what he had grown so accustomed to in his home of Takigakure. The air wasn't as thick here, nor was it anywhere near as humid. The sounds of rushing water from rivers and waterfalls were replaced with the hustling and bustling din of the city. People going thrugh ordinary lives, working ordinary jobs. He wondered for a moment what that would be like.
Soon, though, something caught his attention. It was a rather large facility, and the banner overhead certainly rang a bell. 'Okada Gym?' He thought to himself. 'Like the show fighters?'
Intregued, Red made his way inside, and a small grin stretched across his face when he was met with a heart warming sight. All around there were people training. Wrestling, boxing, throwing each other around, some training with weights, others on punching backs, or using jump ropes, kettle bells, anything and everything. There was a sublte smell in this place of both blood and sweat, but it was a reasuring thing for him. At the center, there seemed to be some light sparring going on, and Red made his way forward.
"THAT'S IT, THAT'S IT, KEEP THE SPACING! MOVE IN, GET HIM TO THE GROUND, OH-, Ohhh, shit...”
The man must have been some kind of coach. Curly sandy blonde hair topped his head, with a bit of unkempt facial hair poking out around his face. While he may not have been too tall by Red's standards, the fellow maybe only an inch or two taller than he was, he was built like a fortress. Large arms, powerful shoulders, legs like tree trunks, though the beer belly he had seemed a slight contrast to the rest of him.
"Excuse me.” Red said on his approach.
"Eh? Oh, hey there kid,” the man started. "Okada Junji. Never seen you in here before, you lookin' to bulk up or what? Lemme know what the Okada can help you accomplish, bud.”
That was... A bit odd, he thought. Likely, he just wanted another member for their gym.
"I wanted to go next.” Red said, his thumb pointing to the ring as his gaze turned.
"You wanna go next, huh? Well. We'd have to- Oh hey, hey! Taki, what are you doin' here?”
