The period of time around the Chuunin Exams brought Tomomi closer to being a mail clerk than they were at any other point in the year, though the mail that came into his office was hardly of a typical sort. For example, today a correspondence specially received from the office of the Raikage had been delivered, addressed to one Uchiha Tokaku. Considering this was priority mail, it was entrusted into the Hokage's Assistant's hands rather than passed along through the normal channels, where it could easily get lost among a dozen other letters.

Uchiha Tokaku... Tomomi had been dealing with an incident report regarding the conflict between her and Azarea, a shinobi from Kumogakure with whom Tomomi was somewhat familiar, recently. Incidents like that tended to generate a lot of paperwork. The diplomatic troubles it could possibly incur, the detailed record of events, the forthcoming hospital costs the village generally paid on part of their shinobi... Someone had to compile that information, and it was usually Tomomi.

Why was it that the Uchiha so often seemed to be at the heart of troubles like this?

No time to dwell on that. Tomomi needed to pay a visit to the girl in the hospital and deliver this letter.

Tomomi would arrive bright and early in the morning, right at the start of visiting hours. One of the attending medical shinobi showed him to her room and would knock on the door lightly, checking Tokaku was awake before allowing Tomomi in.

"Good morning, Uchiha-san," Tomomi would greet, talking softly in the way people often did in hospitals. There was a necessary quiet. They would approach to offer Tokaku the letter, though if her injuries were significant enough to impair mobility he would happily help open the letter. "I have a message for you from the honorable Raikage."
