Striding into the arena Azarea would admit she was pleased to see her fellow Kumo-nin and teammate had made it to the final Round of the Chuunin exams despite their circumstances. Her eyes flicking towards the prosthetic arm the boy wore as her sharp scarlet eyes softened just a touch with empathy. "Be needing a hand there Katsuo-chan?" The red haired Kunoichi teases voice gentle and wry refusing to dishonor her opponent with the likes of pity as she palmed a smoke bomb. Slowly flooding her muscles with chakra as she approached the center line. Offering her opponent a nod of greeting and one of acknowledgement to the Proctor. Awaiting for the Iwa nin to count down the match before she made her move.

"I'm looking forward to fighting you." Azarea murmurs before stomping her foot as a distraction, tossing down the bomb as billowing clouds of black smoke enveloped them both. The woman skirting back and away to begin her ambush.

Joō no Taikanshiki no Regaria [Queen's Coronation Regalia]
A mutated variant of the Aburame clans Yūdai no Omorejō ["Bewildering Grandeur of the Alpha"] resulting from the subsequent poisoning of Azarea's former Yūdai no Omorejō hive to prevent potential hijutsu theft. While the Joō no Taikanshiki no Regaria lacks the Yūdai no Omorejō size instead Azarea's hive has maintained the ability to produce alpha pheromones and commanding vibrations. Evolving instead to hyperspecialize in these two aspects allowing them to produce pheramones and vibrations strong enough to be detected by human hearing and sense of smell.

Reigning Chakra Control
Fine tuning her chakra control to a razor's edge Azarea is capable of performing delicate techniques with minimal to no wastage of chakra. Allowing her to conserve her reserves in prolonged combat and managed more finickity techniques and jutsu.

Kagura Mind's Eye
Born with a natural affinity towards sensing chakra like her Father before her Azarea has trained herself to become a capable sensory shinobi. Unlocking the Kagura's Mind's Eye, and with it, the ability to passively sense chakra signatures in the distance (when using the technique), thus allowing her to not only track, but also memorize a person's chakra signature, even if barely any chakra is being used. Due to her proficiency with this technique, Azarea can currently passively sense chakra up to 500 meters and actively at 2.5 kilometers.

DESCRIPTION:
The thunder step is a step beyond the wind step. The user will move their body even more faster than that in the wind step, and with their chakra, will cause their body to appear like "lightning" flying around the opponent in circles; there have been instances where the user has also appeared as a hundred sharp pieces of paper that fly around the opponent. This move is far more difficult to predict than the wind step and the user can launch dozens of attacks within seconds to quickly wear the opponent down. (tai primary only)

CLASSIFICATION: Genjutsu
TRIGGER: The user stomps their foot on the ground.
DESCRIPTION:
In order to hide the fact that this is a genjutsu, a vast cloud of black smoke bursts forth from the user's position after they stomp their foot on the ground: enveloping all targets that witnessed the stomp and obscuring the user for a split second before he is completely erased from their senses. Regardless of the direction the targets move, they'll never truly escape this thin black haze, since it's an effect that exists solely in their mind; and the effect will only fade when the technique is broken.

The haze isn't anywhere near thick enough to actually help the user's allies, as it's merely an effect to to hide the true nature of the genjutsu. The "true effect" erases the user completely from the targets' sight, smell, and hearing: hiding their exact location from all who witnessed the trigger. This allows the user to move about freely without being seen, heard, or smelled by any creatures affected by this jutsu. Shinobi with chakra sensory methods that don't rely on sight, smell, or hearing can still locate the user of this jutsu.

He had made it to the next round from the qualifier battle by the skin of his teeth. By simply avoiding as much as he could he was able to survive long enough to withstand the battle though in doing so he probably made a few people angry. breaking a truce he made with the grass swordsman in the process of it he claimed the other boy's sword as a prize. Sure it would only be a temporary claim as honestly, he would return it to the other boy eventually, but he figured since the boy offered it to him he could claim temporary ownership of it. Besides, in some circles, the bestowing of a sword to another could be seen as a proposal so while Katsuo was certain the other boy didn't mean it in that way it might be fun to play along with the idea to see how he reacts.[break][break]

His next match would be going against his teammate Azarea and honestly, Katsuo knew how this match would end. She would decimate him and he was not particularly good against genjutsu either. So she could easily toy with him if she wanted to, but he also knew she was a fairly decent person and could give him a fighting chance by holding back. This was a bit of a conflict for Katsuo cause on one hand if he did well it would show his ability. On the other hand, by her holding back she wasn't showing the world what she was capable of, and that irked him slightly. He had mad respect for the shinobi who taught him mid-mission so he would prefer her not go easy on him.[break][break]

As he entered the arena Azarea would make a comment about his arm and he couldn't help and smile a bit at her jab. He knew she probably felt bad for his situation and honestly who wouldn't? Still, he wouldn't let such a simple thing stop him from his goals so he would jest back, "Not sure if I need three hands." He would grip his prosthetic hand's fingers before adding, "These seem to work just fine." This was to ensure to Azarea he had fairly decent control over the new arm despite only having a month to figure it out. It sure did make his training not as well as it could have been, but you make do with what you got right?[break][break]

Azarea would say she was looking forward to fighting him before almost immediately stomping her foot and creating a smoke cloud. So she wasn't trying to start with a genjutsu this time, was she? That was fine for Katsuo as it meant he had some time to prepare himself for anything she could send his way. Touching both his arm and the sword with his hand he would prepare his clan jutsu just in case he needed to do the flying tactic again against Azarea. Then pulling out his Senbon Bakudon he would spin in a circle and send all five around him to cover a wide area. His objective was to have them cover a wide area so that even if he couldn't see her at the very least some of them would hit her at least Katsuo hoped they would.[break][break]

Azarea strafed out of the smoke. Becoming visible to the crowds, but not the boy still surrounded by the thinning haze. The endless clouds covering the entire arena to Katsuo's eyes beneath her genjutsu, but clear to the Kunoichi's. Her chakra humming through her limbs serving her well in escaping the worst of the senbon bakudon's explosions, but it wasn't enough. As Azarea pulls her arm up shielding her face from the rain of shrapnel that litters her side and perforates her chestplate. A thin trail of blood cutting it's way down her cheek as the Kumo nin's stance shifts. Her tongue flicking out to taste the iron that stains her skin red as her stance hardens. The message written throughout her body language becoming clear. Katsuo's request was received.

Azarea would get serious.


The woman's fingers flying through a set of seals as she channeled chakra to the soles of her feet. The Kumo kunoichi strafing up the scaffolding holding the arena speakers as a dark mist rose from her body to form dark clouds once more over the field. The sharp scent of oil filling the air as it began to rain soaking the arena and any within it save where Azarea now perched like a gargoyle atop one of the poles. The woman's position a sole oasis of clear skies within the storm as the dirt soaked and swelled with oil. Creating a shallow lake of reflective liquid painted in rainbow hues by the stage lights.

As drawing a cigarette from her pouch Azarea lit it with a flicker of chakra and tossed it. The embers catching the oil aflame as the fire spread eating up the distance in a blink of an eye towards Katsuo. The Kunoichi tensing waiting to see what her opponent would do as she spooled nin wire into her hands. Carefully forming a lasso as she eyed the distance between herself and the screen scaffolding above her. Readying herself for her next move or... a potential rescue.

With his vision obscured, he did not indicate whether any of his senbon hit Azarea or not, but it was safe to assume in his mind they probably didn't. Still, he had no idea where she was nor did he have any way of figuring out how to get out of this smoke. Still, he had to do something so why not try and gamble with his attacks again? Much like he did with the senbon he would send out another one of his weapons to try and make contact. This time though he would use his bombs![break][break]

To be precise his fire bombs as they were probably the most useful in fights especially if he could rain fire from above. Not knowing what Azarea was doing above him he decided to lob all five of his fire bombs into the air each going a different direction and once out of his sight, due to the smokescreen, he would detonate them. Katsuo would hear the explosion and would see, once the fire got close enough to him, the flames coming down from above. He didn't know if this was from his bombs or Azarea's attack, but he knew he needed to make sure he was in a safe place.[break][break]

So using his clan's ability he would launch his false arm into the air doing his best to duck and weave through the flames from above. He would still get singed and burned in a few areas and his clothing getting small holes from the resulting debris, but at least he wasn't below on the ground to witness the hellfire that was going on down there. Though once in the air he realized the smokescreen from before was more than he thought it was. It was almost like it followed him up in the air. He couldn't see the audience nor could he see Azarea. "What the?" Katsuo would say aloud looking around the area confused as to what was going on. "It can't be," he would ponder as he remembered Azarea being a genjutsu specialist. So he might have been under a genjutsu this whole time, but he didn't know how to get out of genjutsu through jutsu means so that meant he had only one other option. Pain.[break][break]

Yet how much pain? Katsuo wasn't sure how much was needed to dispel genjutsu nor did he know how strong the genjutsu Azarea had used. Was it worth the risk of even attempting to get out of it? What if the pain level had to be so high he couldn't move anymore in the fight? No, it was better to be safe than sorry. So he would try to do Azarea what she did to him just with his version. Smokebomb style that is. Taking out five smoke bombs from his pouch he would launch and detonate them around himself. While it meant just more smoke to obscure his vision it should do the same of preventing Azarea from seeing him. At least he hoped it would. Using the time after his smoke bombs he would do the hand sign for a substitution jutsu just in case he needed to defend against Azarea attacking him.[break][break]

Locking her wire reel Azarea smiled as Katsuo's chakra signature lifted from the ground. Her cloud igniting in a dazzling display of pyrotechnics that set the crowd ooh'ing and aah'ing as the boy set off more smoke bombs. Well... if they were going to put on a show why not make it worth the price of admission? As Azarea snagged her lasso around the projector scaffolding and flying through a set of handseals dropped into a swan dive from her perch. Her wire going taunt swinging her out over the open air and right towards Katsuo as she dropped her genjutsu. Giving the boy just a split second to see her grinning face fangs on full display as she brought her hands together, chakra building inside her melody gauntlets, and gave her teammate the applause he rightfully deserved.

Sending a barrage of sound right towards his face.

Before the Kunoichi cut the line. Twisting through the air to emerge from the smoke as she sticks the landing. Alighting boots down on railing in front of the judges table as she flies through another set of handseals her chakra lashing out towards the projectors above to tag them. Before throwing her arms wide with a mad bloodstained grin in what was undoubtedly the perfect money shot as she yells out.

"YOU WANTED ME TO TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY KATUSOU! IS THIS ALL YOU'VE GOT!?" She calls out to her opponent.

-Azarea loops her wire around the projector scaffolding and locates Katsuo with her chakra senses.
-Azarea drops Obfuscation Genjutsu to allow Katsuo to see her at the last minute attacking him with her Sound ninjutsu.
-Azarea cuts the line in the cover of the smoke to exit the smoke and land in front of the judges on the railing in a nice money shot.

DESCRIPTION:
By building up enough sound with their gauntlets, the user can use their chakra to release and redirect the waves in mid-air to their intended target. By damaging the victim's inner ear, the victim is rendered off-balance and nauseous. While sending the sound-waves through a solid object whether it be person or inanimate, this technique can be used to damage, and in the case of objects of weaker material such as wood and the like, completely destroy it. As an added note the jutsu can also be directed through water weight with similar effect. Therefore the greater fat index an opponent has, the more they are affected by this.

With a cloud of smoke surrounding him like some sort of cloud in the sky, Katsuo wondered just what Azarea was planning for him in this fight. He wouldn't have to wait too long though because soon the genjutsu he was placed under was released as Azarea suddenly appeared before him. While not having time to counter it he was able to say, "Fancy meeting you here." Azarea would then go on the offensive and clap her hands creating a sound wave that would rock him to the bone. Luckily for Katsuo, he had his substitution ready to take the brunt of the attack as another puff of smoke would appear and a speaker from the scaffolding would take his place before falling to the ground.[break][break]

Katsuo would look towards the ground and finally see what was happening below him with the pool of fire. The speaker that had replaced him fell into it and caught fire and melted from the intense heat. Wiping sweat from his brow he said aloud, "Wrong time to be wearing a fur-lined jacked I guess." He would take the time to take off his jacket as Azarea would taunt him saying he wanted her to take him seriously. This was true, but at the same time, he wasn't expecting her to be so intense in the battle. It was kind of fun if he was honest with himself. So he decided to give her a show too.[break][break]

Crouching down on the retention wall, the audience behind him annoyed they couldn't see the full fight because of his body being in the way, he would draw out his bow and notch some arrows into the string. Aiming for Azarea he would say, "Well if we are gonna provide a show for the audience why don't you dance for them?" He would then shoot five arrows out of his bow each aiming to s different side of Azarea that way if she dodged one she should be hit by another from a different direction. He wasn't using as much jutsu as in his battle with Narihira, but at the same time, he was still getting fully used to this arm so his exhaustion levels were certainly beginning to rise in the fight.[break][break]

"There you are~" Azarea sang out with a laugh as Katsuo drew and knocked his bow. The woman tugging on her chakra as her substitution technique completed itself. Leaving a projector screen in her place. The display riddled with arrows in a sea of sparks protecting the judges that had been behind her as the piece of equipment plummeted to the ground tumbling into the flames. Azarea replacing it high above on the scaffolding where she clung to the metal poles with her chakra crimson red hair arrayed around her like a mane of flame and scarlet eyes bright with a wild hunger. Her hands flicking through the seals for her next technique as she channeled suiton within her throat spitting out a glob of sticky syrup down upon Katsuo and his perch. Leaving the boy with two options. Delve down into the flames, or try his levitation trick with his arm again to dodge. His escape routes narrowing by the second and the likelihood of him becoming trapped like a fly in a web increasing with each heartbeat.

Especially given the red haired Kunoichi was far from done, her hands flowing into the next set of seals as she channeled chakra to her tongue spitting out a barrier bullet aimed for Katsuo's mechanical arm looking to bust and shatter it.

Unlocking the Kagura's Mind's Eye, and with it, the ability to passively sense chakra signatures in the distance (when using the technique), thus allowing her to not only track, but also memorize a person's chakra signature, even if barely any chakra is being used. Due to her proficiency with this technique, Azarea can currently passively sense chakra up to 500 meters and actively at 2.5 kilometers.

Well, surprise surprise it wasn't unexpected of Azarea to dodge flimsy arrows only to be replaced by a monitor from above. At least he didn't use his explosive tags with his arrows this time otherwise there might have been some injuries to the judging panel and even more destruction to the property of Iwa, but this was no time to reflect on what damages they were causing as the fight was still ongoing.[break][break]

Azarea wasn't going to let off, nor did Katsuo want her to as he was having a blast himself, and trying to limit his movements even further. The floor was now a hazard and she was shooting out a liquid while Katsuo didn't know exactly what it did he was certain it wasn't good news. Grabbing into his pocket he prepared two different objects to hopefully distract or disorientate Azarea, but to do so he needed to get in close. This was a gamble of a tactic, but it might work in his favor if he is lucky enough to get them to work.[break][break]

Using the sword as his current levitation tactic he would rush towards Azarea as fast as he could not paying any mind to the second attack she let loose. Since the sword he got from Koji was in the lead it took the hit of the air bullet snapping the blade in half. Switching to his arm being the new way to push him forward he would get as close as possible to Azarea and using his now free hand, he dropped the remains of the sword, and activated a flash bomb straight into Azarea's eyes. [break][break]

He was hoping to disorient her enough he could pull the next tactic. Releasing the small black ball into the chamber he would use a close-range stinkbomb to attack her sense of smell. He was hoping using both items would make things harder for Azarea to react and in response make it a little easier to get a hit on her. Grabbing the staff he held he would attempt to smack Azarea upside the head hoping to either give her a concussion or knock her out.[break][break]

"Oh? You're approaching me?" Azarea calls out as the other genin floated towards her. It did make sense. He was a buki-specialist and he couldn't very well properly beat the shit out of her without getting closer. His sword snapping in two under her prior assualt as the magnet release user was forced to switch over to his arm to prevent himself from falling into the hell fire below as the crimson haired Kunoichi smiled. It was not a nice smile. Full of feral teeth and blood thirsty mirth as she dipped her hand into her pocket grabbing a fist full of tags and threw them into the air around her. The pieces of paper fluttering as she quickly formed another set of seals.

Katsuo tried to blind her with a flashbang and follow it up with a stink bomb. The bright light making her eyes water, but Azarea's focus was solely on completing her technique and with a snap of chakra it took. Right as Katsuo activated his stink bomb the woman stopped clinging to the scaffolding with chakra. Allowing herself to plummet down down towards the flames and inevitable death as Katsuo's strike met open air.

But Azarea had left him one last parting gift as the woman followed her last seal up with a familiar one. Unseeing gaze focuses upwards towards Katsuo, her hair streaming about her like the flaming tail of a comet she mouthed the word 'Boom~' right as she triggered the five explosive tags to bring the projector scaffolding and Katsuo down with it.

As her own form twisted. Dark clothes giving way to dark feathers as the Kunoichi shifted to that of the form of a crow. Spreading her wings at the last minute, flames licking over her feathers, to take flight and alight upon a railing to observe the carnage she had just unleashed.

DESCRIPTION:
After four hand-seals, the user is capable of transforming themselves either into a person or animal, as long as the creature is less than 10 meters tall. Unlike regular henge, this technique allows the user to completely take on the characteristics of the said animal, though they lose their ability to perform jutsu while transformed. They're also capable of holding the form in battle, even after taking considerable damage, though the more damage they take the more taxing the technique becomes.

Damage is retained between both forms, so a broken arm in one's original form would make it impossible to fly if you transformed into a bird; and any damage taken in their transformed state is retained when they return to their original form. If this jutsu is used to transform into someone with a higher rank, you're still limited by the physical capabilities of your rank and specs; this same rule doesn't hold when transforming into an animal that might have natural physicality beyond the user.

Things were not going in his favor as Azarea didn't seem to be fazed by his flash bomb or his stink bomb. She was ready for him and let him a gift to deal with. Explosives. Something he had used in his other match, but this time he had no way of defending himself. He didn't have a substitution prepared for this like last time and he couldn't just escape so he covered his face with his metal arm which took part in the blast as he would scream out in pain from the explosives. If he thought that was the end of it though he now had to deal with the scaffolding falling upon himself too. The weight was too heavy for him to stop from falling with his jutsu so he was forced to let it fall down and with his exhaustion setting in he couldn't get out of the way of it either.[break][break]

The scaffolding would fall into the inferno below burying Katsuo below it essentially trapping him in the inferno. The fire raging was making his arm malfunction a bit as it would begin to slightly melt from the heat. Katsuo would try to struggle out and found he wasn't able to get out. "Damnit," Katsuo would say as he took his free arm and would wave at the proctor and say, "I'm stuck and can no longer fight so I surrender!" The proctor would signal the end of the fight and declare Azarea the winner as the arena was put into recovery mode and Katsuo was rescued from the rubble.[break][break]

The Kumo boy felt a tad sad he couldn't do too much more against Azarea especially since he didn't even get to use all the jutsu in his arsenal, but he just couldn't get close enough to her and her knack for sensing his presence along with her genjutsu just meant he was outclassed. When he was able to stand from his predicament he would approach Azarea and say, "Hope I was able to give you some sort of challenge or at the very least entertainment." He would chuckle to himself as he rotated his mechanical arm checking to see how bad the damage to it was before adding, "Guess I have a bit more training before I can be up to par with you." He respected Azarea for going all out against him despite being a teammate and someone who was not as experienced as her but was glad he was able to at the very least enjoy himself in the fight.

Over the crackle of flames Azarea caught Katsuo's words of surrender. The girl swearing or well... the crow clacking it's beak as she dropped the jutsu shifting back to her normal form in a poof of smoke as she took the nin wire she'd spooled out before and attached to a Kunai. Tossing the weapon down to clack off of and wrap around one of the metal bars with a quick tug of her fingers as she strafed right towards the remaining speaker tower. The fight was over, but now that Katsuo had surrendered her priority was to get her fellow Kumo nin out safely and with minimal injuries. As the woman looped the end of the line around a sturdy bit of the metal bar and leaped down using her own weight to counterpoint and help lift the downed scaffolding enough that hopefully the judges could easily fish Katsuo out from under it without the boy losing more then just his eyebrows.

Once the two of them however, were free and safe she'd meet Katsuo in one of the entrances to watch the repair crew try to undo their handiwork. "It was a good fight. I had fun Katsuo. Don't sell yourself short." She coaxes offering the boy a beaming smile as she reached out to ruffle his hair. "Sides for someone relearning how to use a new arm you gave me quite the run for my money." Azarea assures him.

It was over and honestly, Katsuo was a bit relieved to some degree. He gave it his all and though he couldn't beat Azarea he was able to do some damage and it seemed like she enjoyed the fight. She even gave him a bit of a pep talk on his abilities which honestly was a nice change of pace for Katsuo. She even complimented the fact he was doing well with his new arm. So it wasn't all that bad losing this fight.[break][break]

The one thing had did hurt though was the sword. Turning around and looking at the fire being dosed by the clean-up crew he looked around the arena for the sword he had received during his last fight. After a bit of time looking through the fire, he found the two pieces on the ground and reached to pick them up. The blade was a bit hot to the touch so he had to pick it up with his prosthetic arm so as not to burn himself. He put the two pieces together and sighed, "Guess we will have to call off the wedding now." Katsuo would turn to the audience and search for Koji and look with a rather remorseful face to the other boy. The two had only been engaged for a day and it looked like fate had in store for them to not work out.[break][break]

Katsuo would take the sword and carry its fragments with him as he headed back towards the entrance of the arena. Stopping before going back to join the rest of the audience he would clutch the sword close to himself and close his eyes. "Guess happiness isn't something that will come easy for me," Katsuo would say to himself as a single tear would fall from his eye. He would then walk through the entrance to join the other contestants in the viewing area before the next match would start. He wasn't sure how he was going to face Koji now, but one thing was for certain the other boy wasn't going to be happy.
