[Hatake Shinde]

Shinde was a relatively open and helpful person. She enjoyed the prospect of training, taking care of her garden, and enjoying her homeland. Within just a few short years, she's made quite a bit of good progress in her training, and as the heiress to her clan, she sought to advance herself in stride. Though also decided to become more active in clan politics than her father had. What better way than to make ties with members of her village? Kiseki Uchiha. Coming to the Uchiha compound to deliver some dango to Miroru, as well as gain some insight to her half sister's family, she found herself waiting along one of the clan's local training grounds nearby a lakeside. A good place for academy students and genin. Why not help her friend's family out? Having taken the liberty to crouch down, she limbered up, stretching her legs and arms, knowing today was a good day as any to train. Especially with the beautiful view. 

"Ohayo. My name is Hatake Shinde. I'm here to tutor you today to help you in the academy and beyond hopefully. Show you some things I know, and maybe even a few Jutsu if you'd be up for it. Some people call me the Ashen Kunoichi. I like training, gardening, dogs, and spending time with my friends trying new things. I'm thirteen years old, and skilled at Ninjutsu, Shuriken Jutsu, and Kenjutsu. It's nice to meet you." Giving a bright smile with her cerulean eyes, based on the color of her hair, it wasn't too hard to figure out why she was called what she was. Introductions out of the way, she proceeded to let Kiseki give her own introduction. Then? They could figure out what they were going to be doing that day. Hopefully something that would happen fairly regularly between the two.

Kiseki wasn’t shy about asking people to help her train. Family members, teachers, random shinobi off the street, she would ask them to help her try and further her chosen career as a kunoichi. Today’s victim was Hatake Shinde, the half-sister to Kiseki’s cousin, Tokaku. The girl had been visiting the compound and had subsequently been roped into helping the young Uchiha with her studies.

They had agreed to meet at the training grounds and Kiseki was hurrying along so she didn’t make the other girl wait too long. She had been on a roll lately with her training, so she was excited to continue on with it.

Rounding the corner, she saw the girl she was looking for standing nearby the pond, stretching out. Smart idea, who knew what the two of them would get into with this little session. Kiseki lifted her arm to wave, calling out to get Shinde’s attention as she approached.

"Hi to you, too," she said, giving a bright smile of her own. "I’m Kiseki, nice to meet you. Thanks for agreeing to this." Let no one say she wasn’t grateful to the people who acquiesced to her wishes.

"So, I’ve been trying to learn anatomy and was hoping to practice that," she rocked on her toes, eager to start something. "Any ideas on what we should do to work on that?"

Kiseki seemed fairly cheerful upon her approach, and with it, as she made it clear what she was looking to train? "Well. If you're looking to train anatomy? Have you ever tried applying it in practice? You're going to be needing to fight from time to time. So...It would be a good idea to get an idea of not just where to hit, but getting experience hitting it. Get an idea of the body's limitations." That said, she proceeded to brush her grey cloak, hovering it over her body, as she looked at Kiseki from head to toe. Before deciding to give her that insight. Holding her hands beneath her cloak, she performed the tiger sign, then ram, and then formed a cross with her middle and index fingers. 

"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu." She calls out, and with it, she forms a singular clone doppleganger of herself with a poof. "This will be your sparring partner. I'll be overseeing your match, and seeing where you need improvement. You can use this if you want." Reaching into her holster, she takes out a Kunai knife for Kiseki to use. "Hand to hand is good, but learning how to use weapons is good too." Speaking rather reassuringly, and assuming Kiseki took it? She was keen on watching how Kiseki would take the knowledge in stride. Shinde herself wasn't the best martial artist, but she was well versed in Bukijutsu. So she knew how to strike and efficiently, as many motions of the sword can be replicated with the body.

Shinde's clone would take about a dozen paces backwards, before doing the seal of confrontation. A sign of respect to Kiseki, and in turn, when she gave it back? Shinde's clone would take her stance. She rested in a triangular footed stance, one leg slightly slid back, as she turned her body sideways. Her arms were level and close to her body, and she seemed well focused and relaxed. A light breeze blowing through the area as Shinde stood between them both. "Hajime!" Lowering her hand down in a chop, she'd oversee this bout.

Applying it in practice? Kiseki tilted her head in thought. She hadn’t really, besides the pointing out of the spots with Tomomi-sensei, so the path that Shinde was proposing was probably a good idea. Practice made perfect and what not.

"Sounds smart," she said. Not that she was sure how she would do much damage - all she had were practice kunai.

But her partner had the answer for that, digging into her own pouch and pulling out the genuine article. Kiseki’s smile grew, twisting the knife between her hands. She liked the feel of the heavy metal and couldn’t wait until she had a supply of her own. She grasped the handle like she did with practice ones, and waited to see what else Shinde had planned.

The shadow clone was awesome, Kiseki was in awe, practically bouncing on her toes in excitement at all the cool things she was being exposed to. It made her so excited to graduate from the Academy. But she needed to keep focused and try to work on her strategy.

She returned the sign of respect to the clone and turned her kunai to a reverse hold. Once Shinde signaled the start of the match, Kiseki ran forwards. Once she got near, the girl dropped down to skid along the dirt and try to slice the knife along the back of the clone’s ankle.

If that worked, debilitating the clone’s movements, she would push off with her foot and spin around. Kiseki would switch the kunai to her other hand as she spun, and aimed to slam the knife directly into the clone’s kidney - one of the spots that Tomomi-sensei had told her about.

Hit or not, the girl would then try to somersault away so she could pop up and try to throw the kunai at the clone’s neck, aiming to hit one of the vital spots that surrounded it.

Kiseki was serious about this practice and wanted to show her determination from the get go.

The battle soon began, and with it, Kiseki made her way forwards, already attempting to utilize her small stature and form for the unorthodox. Shinde observed her movements, and as she comes forwards, she slides, with her blade in the reverse grip. A skid, as she lashes for the clone's ankles. Immediately does the clone perform a sidestep motion, a slight hop as they move with a dexterous grace, their eyes sharpened as the Shinde replica sought to disrupt Kiseki by stepping their left foot downwards along the wrist, seeking to pin their lithe hand to the ground, but not outright stomp on it, performing a downward punching motion towards their face, but stopping short. Assuming that was successful? It calls out. "Dead."

It was far easier to react to an assault as opposed to lead one, but in that regard, Shinde didn't want to go easy in the slightest. After all. If this were a real fight, she'd take advantage of any and every opportunity. Though what she could do? Was pull her punches. The clone was swift, and it was important that if Kiseki was going to assault it in Taijutsu, or with a weapon, she learned how to properly handle a weapon. "You don't want to put yourself in a position where you can't easily react or move. All it takes is a swift counter attack. If you lose the ability to move? That's death." Shinde's clone found herself retorting, before stepping backwards. Allowing Kiseki to get back up again? It'd proceed to resume its triangular footed stance, taking a deep breath.

"When fighting an opponent with a weapon or hand to hand. There's several things to consider. Mass. Weight. Speed. Environment. Unorthodox attacks. Telegraphed blows." Shinde's clone would proceed to slowly shift their body then in that next instant, beginning to slowly move around Kiseki with a slight shift to their footwork, taking one step to the side, then forward, then back, as it's hands shift stance, but level with the chest, an open palm as the right hand curls inwards defensively. Hopefully, that was insightful! The more there was to track, the harder it was to focus on the important details.

So things definitely didn’t go according to plan, and Kiseki ended up with a foot on her hand and fist in her face. Well poo on that. She frowned and pouted a bit, snatching her hand back and jumping up and back a bit.

Death. How condescending. Kiseki rolled her eyes, acting all blasé, but she did actually take the words to heart, even if she didn’t want to act like she was acknowledging the clone who had stopped her attack in its tracks so easily.

Getting close where people could grab at you was apparently a bad thing, but then she wouldn’t be able to utilize her striking knowledge. Throwing her kunai was a possibility, but Kiseki was worried about the accuracy that would have, she was aiming for small targets, after all.

No. She wanted to be a close-combat fighter, the girl decided. So that meant she would need to learn how to be the best at evading others if she was gonna try and get into their comfort zones.

With the same reverse grip, Kiseki narrowed her eyes and bounced on her toes. This time the clone could come to her. If it was easier to react to an attack then she would do that. She knew where to strike, it was just up to the clone to get close enough for her to do that.

It wasn't meant to be condescending. It was meant to be the truth. If she had a Kunai of her own or a sword in hand, it could have easily turned any which direction. In those moments, she looked to Kiseki and tried to gather some meaningful critique. "If you're lashing out with a knife, a good spot to aim would be joints, the wrists, and the throat." If Kiseki could imagine it in her head, as Shinde was a taller and larger opponent, it was unlikely in a heated exchange of daggers that there wouldn't be some form of injury. Usually a slash mark left on such an area. Shinde's eyes remained sharp, and with it, as Kiseki stepped back, deciding to now play the defensive? Shinde's clone would press inwards.

A fast speed, not looking to beeline her, but instead remain in the triangular footed stance, looking to close in, lunge, and sidestep, as to force her to turn, leaning inwards and crouching with a bent knee, attempting to lash out at Kiseki's legs and knee. It's hands and arms were shouldered, prepared to intercept, divert, or prepare to disarm her opponent, and find room for retaliation with the hands in a pseudo open palm motion. Assuming the kick was successful, Kiseki might feel her weight shift if not buckle to the side from the blow, in which Shinde's doppleganger looks to lash out with both of it's arms in a crossed X like motion, looking to shove her upwards in a cross blow motion, to send her knocking back with her weight imbalanced.

Shinde's clone was quite fast, and as the original observed from the background, she sought to observe how she'd strike out in a time of crisis, and if she could see and observe the right areas to strike, but also, if she could see the opportunities of which to lash and strike.

Kiseki hummed at the advice Shinde was giving. She had been aiming for the clone’s joints - ankles to be precise, but it hadn’t worked. How was she supposed to put her knowledge into practice if the target wasn’t going to cooperate? The young Uchiha guessed that in the real world, her opponents would be doing their hardest to not get hit, but still. She probably should have practiced this stuff earlier on a non-moving target - like a training dummy.

Huffing out a noise of annoyance, she waited in a defensive stance for the clone to move forward. She took what Shinde had told her, keep things in mind - mass, weight, speed, environment, unorthodox attacks, telegraphed blows - and kept her eyes on the prize, trying to judge which way the clone would move.

As her opponent closed in, she allowed it close but didn’t follow the feint. Instead, she moved the opposite direction than what the clone was trying to corral her into and lashed out at it with the kunai. Aim for the vulnerable spots. She made a slash towards the clone’s neck, hoping it would try and defend against it, but at the last second, she would twist the dagger, shifting the arc and aim to stab downwards into the soft flesh by the clone’s collarbone.

The arteries that would be prominent in the neck were also in the collarbone, and less easily defended if you weren’t expecting it.

But strike or not, Kiseki would bounce back a step, to twist around and then aim the kunai to strike at Shinde’s clone’s kidney. If it was defending its neck area, then it shouldn’t be blocking its side. Kiseki was trying to take advantage of the close combat while not putting herself too close to harm. If she connected her attacks, or even if she did, the young girl would step away from the clone and put distance between them again, still playing the defense.

This time, the assault that came was much better. Kiseki was definitely focused, and in this instance, she slashed outwards and upwards towards the neck. Causing the clone to disrupt it's attack, and lean backwards to avoid having its throat slit. Only for Kiseki with a dexterous twist of the hand to switch into a downwards stabbing motion. Stabbing straight along the collarbone. A delicate and easy bone to break. Shinde saw a major improvement. If she were grading Kiseki, which she wasn't, she'd give a solid score for improvement. Kiseki through this could feel the sensation of the kunai running through flesh and the pierce of bone for but a moment. Before the clone disperses in a poof of smoke and a gasp of pain. Shinde staightens herself, rising now fully as she looks out to Kiseki before her.

"That's good. Very good." Shinde liked seeing the knifework. Often times, Shinobi could become too reliant on ninjutsu and genjutsu. Often neglecting the useful tools that they had at their disposal. That said, she formed another handseal, and with it? Shinde calls forth again. "Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!" Another clone poofs into existence. "You want to go for that decisive moment. The opening where you can land a killing or crippling blow. If you can't do that? You want to do the best you can to make that opening." Shinde felt relaxed enough to throw Kiseki a bone persay. Help her feel like she was making progress. Besides. She was working hard and putting in the effort wasn't she? It felt good to be able to help her grow, and with it, she found herself letting Kiseki play about. Approach the clone this time.

"Feel free to approach and strike it where you want. It's about as close to the real feeling as you're going to get right about now."

Kiseki almost dropped her kunai when she felt it slice into the clone’s collarbone and the figure disappeared in a puff of smoke. Her elation over being successful with her knife work was dimmed somewhat by the sensation of having killed someone - even if it was only a clone. It was the first time she had ever stabbed something that wasn’t a training dummy and the difference was palpable.

As she bounced back out of the way, the girl noticed a slight tremor to her hands. She quickly shook it out, hopefully before Shinde noticed. She couldn’t get shaken from a simple training exercise. How would she react in the field if this was how she acted when it was fake.

She stayed in her defensive stance, pasting a shaky grin on her face as she awaited for Shinde to continue on with their session. Another clone was created, but instead of coming at the younger girl, it remained stationary. Kiseki tilted her head in confusion at the permission she had been given.

To just charge ahead and attack as she wanted seemed like a complete divergence from what had been going on before. Was this a trick to make her lower her guard? Or was it just Shinde pitying the girl? Kiseki wasn’t sure, but she needed the practice.

She took a deep breath and nodded before charging at the clone. Kiseki ran straight towards the clone. She kept her guard up, a simple crossguard with her arms, in case the clone went on the defensive. Kiseki spun the knife in her hand and as she moved passed the clone and aimed to stab it in the lower intestinal area, aiming to drag it along and create a deep gash in the clone’s side.

She knew that was a wicked spot, that if she nicked the intestines it would cause a painful death to whoever she hit. Then the gash towards the kidney area would just be a the gruesome bonus of making sure there was no recovery.

Then Kiseki would spin around, keeping her guard facing the clone, and waited to see what happened next.

It must have felt very different. The feeling of a blade slicing flesh for real. The cracking feeling of bone on metal. It was for Shinde when she first felt it too. However, in those next moments? The Ashen kunoichi looked over the younger one before watching her before realizing that she seemed nervous. Though. Charging the clone, she sought to strike out for a painful area indeed. The stomach and intestine. The dragging of the blade towards the kidney. Except this time? It was rather different. For as she ripped into the clone? The Kunai was not a lithe and slim blade. It was more shovel shaped. A trowel. So as it ripped upwards? She might actually feel the sensation of it not only piercing, but the drag and intimate feeling. The thud as the blade rips upwards, through, somewhat digging deeper into the lower back area, and then back out.

The clone poofed, as the blade was struck. Shinde remembered the feeling of the sensation. The memory in question. Shinde hadn't done this for no particular reason. She wanted to see if Kiseki had the resolution to go through after the first strike, and then, to figure out where she'd hit. Her target areas. Shinde wasn't a medical ninja. No, not in the slightest. However, even she could remember the kill points. They'd been taught that much when considering the vulnerable areas of the body. "Heart. Liver. Lungs. Spine. Clavicle Artery. Juggular. Brain." Seven kill spots in the human body. She said it idly. She seemed to more so say it to herself. Though, she gazed on towards Kiseki with a thumbs up.

"You've done pretty good. Kiseki-Chan. You've made progress. I'm proud of you." Shinde said with her eyes closed, and a curl upwards of the lips.

"I think that's enough for today. And if you're open? I'll take you out for some icecream for a training well done. If you don't mind. Besides. I figured I might as well offer something."

Kiseki expected the feeling of stabbing into flesh this time, keeping her hands steady as she plunged the kunai into the clone’s kidney. What she didn’t expect was the resistance when she dragged the blade towards its back.

She had been thinking it would split rather easily, but that wasn’t the case, causing the girl to almost lose her grip when she first felt the knife stalling. She tightened her grip so she wouldn’t drop the kunai and continued to push through until the clone disappeared in a burst of smoke.

It had definitely been a different experience from a training dummy and she was still reeling from it, coursing on the adrenaline. The girl was panting and she shook out her hands as she straightened up and turned to Shinde.

Heart. Liver. Lungs. Spine. Clavicle Artery. Jugular. Brain. Kiseki knew those spots, plus a few more, but she kept the advice in her head. It was good knowledge for when she got out into the field and faced real enemies.

She immediately perked up and smiled at the praise that Shinde gave her. Kiseki wouldn’t admit it, but she thrived on positive reinforcement and the offer for ice cream was just the icing on the cake. "Okay!" she said happily. "Thanks a bunch!"

She jogged over to her temporary teacher and handed back the kunai she had been allowed to borrow. Then she would follow the older girl from the training grounds and into the town for some sweet treats after a job well done.

"You're welcome." Shinde responded with a bright smile. Though. As Kiseki ran forward to offer her the Kunai? She shook her head. "Keep it. As a bit of a memento to remember me by. As well as a sign of a training well done." She extends her right hand and smiles for a moment, to ruffle her hair. And along the way, as they made their way to the Ice Cream parlor or shop? Shinde proceeds to do some minor thinking. "Say...I know that you're aspiring to be a medical ninja and what not. But I'm wondering. If perhaps you'd be interested in being a student of mine. A disciple of sorts." Shinde figured she might as well offer. In a way, she was family to the Uchiha in some form. Well, that wasn't entirely accurate. Considering she was family to an Uchiha. 

Quite literally in the case of Tokaku. So making connections and good ties just seemed relatively sensible to her. Sure, Kiseki had a clan to teach her and all of that, but maybe the potential offer was something that might appeal to her. If not full time, then maybe a partial investment sort of situation. Wouldn't that be nice? "If...You're interested in that sort of thing, it won't be easy. But I promise you I'll help mold you to be a great Kunoichi. The best I can anyways." What a twist?

As Shinde handed back the kunai, Kiseki couldn’t help but stare in awe. Her very own actual real kunai. Ha...the other kids at the Academy were going to be so jealous. But she would have to be careful so that she didn’t get it taken away by some rude teacher.

Tucking the kunai away safely into her little side pouch alongside her practice gear, Kiseki turned her attention back towards Shinde. The silverette was offering to continue training Kiseki in what sounded like an almost exclusive fashion. That would be awesome, she wasn’t gonna lie, there were a lot of other things she wanted to learn besides just medical knowledge and SHidne could definitely help her in that regard.

"I’m not really trying to be a medical nin," she answered the other girl. "I just want to learn the best places to strike someone while in a fight." She took a few quick steps so that she was leading the way towards the ice cream parlor, turning to walk backwards and face Shinde at the same time.

"But yeah! I would like to become a student of yours. You seemed really skilled." she paused. "As long as I can keep training with others too, right?"

Exclusivity sounded cool, but it wouldn’t be fun if this deal locked her into Shinde and only Shinde. Not that she had a problem with Shinde, there were just a bunch of other people that Kiseki also wanted to learn from too.

"Of course you can train with other people. I don't want to steal you away after all. Though. I'm definitely tempted." She jested, smiling brightly towards Kiseki. "I guess you could say that while I grow, I want to help others around me become the best they can be. Build that sense of...community up. Be someone that people look up to." She says, looking Kiseki in the eyes. "I guess, I'd like for kids like you to look up to me like a big sister." She muses, as she walks, her arms behind her head, thinking it through. That sounded about right. Though, as she digested that thought? Shinde smiled and closed her eyes cutely, as if reminiscing a good memory.

"I've had some ups and downs, in my short time as a Kunoichi. Life's been kind of wild. But I always remembered when growing up with my mom, that I always wanted a sibling. Older. Younger. Someone I could share good memories with. Thick and thin." That smile became a little smaller then. "If...You ever need anything. Or someone to talk to? I think you can count of me to be there. Or at least, I'll try." Kiseki was a cute kid, and she seemed spunky, rambunctious, and eager to be put to the challenge. Offering her hand, she looks to do a bit of a fist bump. None of that hand holding stuff; at least not now. Kiseki was a raven Uchiha after all. Had a reputation to uphold. "Anyways. Let's get us some icecream. Well deserved after a training well done."
