Family, if one analyzed the word from a place deeper than just blood ties, seemed to sour on some tongues and sweeten on others. Some clans throughout the shinobi world were genuinely just large devoted families. Some were estranged warrior tribes that valued little over raw power. The Uchiha were perhaps somewhere dead in the middle. They could go either way at times, but as a result were deeply diverse.
Despite a reputation for being sufferers, no doubt a product of what potential lay dormant within the lot of them and how it came to be, the varied personalities and ambitions of such a large clan made it hard to group them one way or another. But, in some ways, that made them more like a regular family than most.
Yutaka had never subscribed to the whole pain and suffering thing. He was a generally happy man that took life as it came and did his best to remain content. Where he struggled more than anywhere else was in social situations. Be it lack of social experience, an innate predisposition for introversion, or just a genuine disdain for the subject, he boasted no great charisma nor stellar confidence.
But something about being holed up in the clan compound over the weekend tested that reclusive inclination, begging him to venture out.
It seemed, as he approached the courtyard near the heart of the complex, that his favorite shady spot had already been claimed. Initially, he thought to flee; to find another resting place free of the burden of human interaction, but something in his chest stopped him. A desire to hear and be heard by someone other than his wife and parents after a spell of solitude. So he approached.
Not far from the ancient tree was a carved stone bench that sat low to the ground and offered some solace from the sun overhead. The young man set a small basket containing various snacks to his side and began to busy himself with it in favor of actually making his presence known vocally. He quickly betrayed himself, however, with a low hum as he perused the selection of treats he’d brought with him.
