Evil Doesn't Die; It Changes Shape.

Kunikunosaku focused her chakra and performed the hand seals for the summoning jutsu. However, as she concentrated her energy, a sense of unease washed over her. Something felt off, different from her previous summoning attempts.

Confusion furrowed Kunikunosaku's brow as she tried again, pouring her chakra into the jutsu with heightened focus. Yet, the expected surge of power and the appearance of a summoned creature eluded her grasp. It was as if a vital connection was severed, leaving her abilities in disarray.

Anxiety welled up within Kunikunosaku as she attempted the summoning once more, desperately hoping for a different outcome. But the result remained unchanged—a void where her summoned ally should have materialized.

Doubt crept into Kunikunosaku's mind. Had she made an error in her hand seals? Had she neglected some crucial aspect of the jutsu? Or was there an unforeseen external factor hindering her summoning prowess?

Realizing she couldn't ignore the problem, Kunikunosaku took a step back to evaluate the situation. She carefully considered the state of her chakra, her mental focus, and any recent events that might have affected her summoning abilities. Something had disrupted the harmonious connection between her and her summoned companions.

Ultimatly, she weaved the hand seals for a different jutsu, one that made her chakra heavy and her EGF threads go on a rampage, ripping from one point of skin into the other. The air pressure shifted as once again she weaved the seals to summon any crocodile at this point, she had hoped a stern figure like Daichi, even Mizuchi would appear, but unlike before, Kunikunosaku felt her whole body start to shake.

After having to recycle the roots that ended up killing the previous Apprentice just to transfer Jiongu to Kunikunosaku, the mass of black roots recollects most of its abilities from the Apprentice previous while forming new ones with its new master/host, Kunikunosaku. As far as the roots are concerned, like any organism, it desires to feed and survive, all else is not required, nor necessary to function. As for the Symbiotic Relationship benefits Kunikunosaku can control the thread-like roots however she wishes. The thread are quite versatile, acting much like surgical threads they can be used to sew up wounds stretch, or harden for attacks akin to squid tentacles, as well as being equally flexible and significantly dexterous. In time, Kunikunosaku will learn that as long as they keep a heart attached to at least some of the roots making up her body at all times, she is functionally immortal, only dying once all the threads are completely removed from any living hearts, and is unable to be poisoned. Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

Symbiotic Relationship: Mutualism

After gaining knowledge on how Jiongu behaves and acts, Kunikunosaku developed a strong bond with the Jiongu entity. Accepting both live in her now; that both are what makes up Kunikunosaku. As a result of this understanding and bond, Jiongu aids her in combat - despite being a small boost. When conditions are met, Jiongu can provide an aided strength boost to Kunikunosaku during combat. It is still relative to her natural strength at the time. While this has no speed benefits, this boost of strength can put her up to par with the max strength of her peers at the same rank level. As she matures and gains new skills and new statuses. So too does her strength grow.

Symbiotic Bond: Strong Mind, Strong Body
As Kunikunosaku developed a stronger relationship with Jiongu, the creature bestowed Kunikunosaku an additional gift. That which is bestowed grants her the body as strong as her will. As long as she has the will to fight and keep pushing forward, Kunikunosaku has attained a sense of a strong body. She can still feel all the pain she receives, however, her will will push through it; literally making her body push through the pain and maintain functionality despite the egregious wounds she may receive. Overwhelming pain at one time or other will breaking input can debilitate the girl's will-driven tolerance to falter to the degree of an average shinobi, opening her up to common pain. It is this will that allows her to force the tendrils/roots/threads to repair themselves from injury or stitch back together. This will increases with her skill as she becomes more confident and driven to satiate both her needs and Jiongu's.

Power of a God:
After a great time learning how to control Jiongu, Kunikunosaku has learned to store chakra in each of her threads so long as they continue to be attached to at least one of her hearts. This extra storage capacity allows the girl to amass greater amounts of chakra within herself, expanding her reserves beyond that of the normal shinobi her rank. As with many other abilities, this ability continues to grow as the girl does through the ranks and years.

Cursed Master:

As a reward for attaining a greater deal of control over her symbiotic relationship with Jiongu, Kunikunosaku acquired the keys to the gate of mastering her abilities. This new boon allows Kunikunosaku to double the impact of her EGF ninjutsu. In addition, a passive boon is the ability to completely negate Jiongu's manipulation to consume more hearts. These boons together allow Kuni to further manipulate Jiongu against its basic natures, improving her unique utilization. While still young and unrefined, the ability is expected to grow as their bond deepens to even further levels.

Medical Knowledge:

Being from Takigakure's prestigious clan medical clan, Kunikunosaku is also set to learn the human anatomy, biology, and Kinesthetics, While this knowledge DOES NOT give her access to Medical Ninjutsu Techniques, however, the knowledge does unlock abilities of precision to the human body with every attack. This knowledge grants field combat medic aid but nowhere near the degree of those actually trained in it.

An evolutionary adaptation powered by chakra, Shukuteki by itself does nothing except unlock the malevolent adaption Jiongu can accomplish in Kunikunosaku's body. A visual identifier this is utilized is a seeming explosion of thread activity crawling and flailing around the user. Before the user strikes, there can be a feeling akin to dread and murderous intent in a ten meter radius around the girl. Like a predator ready to pounce, this stance allows any and all 'Nemesis' jutsus to work, without this, none of the techniques that require this stance can even work.

DESCRIPTION:
One of the most common and beneficial techniques in the known shinobi world. Simply drawing blood and releasing a mass of chakra from one's extended hand is capable of calling an animal or otherwise to one's location. As a Space-Time Ninjutsu, this technique is capable of instantly displacing an intended summon from wherever they may be to the requested location, though there are obstacles that can prevent this. To use this jutsu, one must first make a contract with whatever they are summoning, living creature or not. Both the size and the stamina of what a shinobi calls upon increases the demand of chakra they must spend to perform the jutsu.

As the white-haired kunoichi felt the air pressure change, she would quickly realize that all was not as it should be. Of course, she had already had that suspicion ever since she had attempted, and failed, to summon one of her crocodile allies the first time. But the feeling she would have now would be one of displacement, as though something had shifted in the world, and she had shifted with it.

And even as her palm had hit the ground to execute the summoning technique, a plume of smoke had risen, as though the technique was successful, except that said plume should have burst out some distance from her, where the summon was expected to appear. Instead, Kunikunosaku would find herself wreathed in smoke, which temporarily obscured her vision in a curtain of white. Perhaps this was normal; if the summon was appearing in rather close proximity, the smoke of its appearing could be large enough to envelop her. Except that it had been when she had attempted the second summon, when the smoke had engulfed her, that the Taki nin felt the weird displacement.

When the smoke cleared away, the first thing Kunikunosaku would notice was that her surroundings were quite different from where she had attempted to make a summon. It was night, so the place was dark, as was expected, but the soil beneath her feet felt soggy. And the air... the air was oppressively heavy with humidity, like some vengeful weather god had dipped a towel in tepid water and bitch-slapped the environment with it. But that wasn't all the kunoichi would notice. Everything seemed stagnant, dead. The water, the trees, even the earth. Still, lifeless, corpse-like.

And that was when she would notice the two dull green lights shining in the distance. Even these lights seemed dead. But attempting to peer through the gloom at the lights would reveal a shadow from which jagged spines seemed to stick out of, from which the two dead lights gleamed. And the kunoichi would realize that they were eyes; dull, lifeless eyes, which, despite their deadness, were fixed unblinkingly on Kunikunosaku.

Kunikunosaku felt her own pressure, or what she thought it was. It was heavy, it was foreign, it was intimidating. Those were all the feelings she could feel, but all of that only made her feel alive; well, more alive than now. She was expecting the smoke to pop in front of her and show she could still communicate with her crocodilian allies. There were many things that are surprising by their very nature that evoke no feeling from the Kunoichi. Yet, it was this one instance of the smoke plumbing around her rather than in front of her that shocked her. So much so, even the threads flailing out of her began moving desperately for some sense where she is rather than trying to muster energy or harness anger. She would theoretically understand if maybe she summoned something too big that had its own smoke engulf her, but that wouldn't explain why she only felt the chakra drain of Nemesis. The Mikatakujira Apprentice began to suspect maybe it was another Kiri shinobi, coming after her after what she did to Toru, Asuka, Sora, and Kasumi. Whatever it was, Kuni definitely felt off. Something quite alarming, thus having her push up the two daggers in her wrists up to her hand as she prepared herself.

When the smoke started to clear, Kuni recognized it was night. That much was clear as day. But, before she could even see, it was the fact the hard dirt of the training ground she was on was so unbelievably damp and weak. She felt like she was transported somewhere in Mizu no Kuni. Kunikunosaku's eyes adjusted to the darkness and she didn't feel like she was in friendly territory, nor enemy territory. Yet, the grounds she was on were all twisted and lifeless... like... she was in a humid hell. What greeted her in this hell were two green orbs contrasting the darkness. As soon as Kuni's eyes latched onto the orbs, her threads flailed as if she was preparing for a strike. "Ten seconds, where the hell am I and who the hell are you?" Kunikunosaku raised the daggers as well as swing them to hold each like she was going to overhead stab a body. The Kunoichi slowly moved closer, keeping herself at the ready like she was stalking and preparing to ambush someone. Her movements were more animalistic than humanoid, but one could tell from her eyes that she was pissed, greatly so that she would fall back to feral tactics to have her way.

If the Takigakure ninja's arming herself with her two daggers, and the flailing of the eldritch threads that were stitched through the kunoichi's body was indicative of a threat, whatever lay in the shadows, watching Kunikunosaku, seemed to either be ignorant of, or place little value on, the severity of the threat. The silence remained. But as Kunikunosaku inched forward carefully, and as her eyes adjusted to the gloom, she would begin to see more and more of the murky and half-visible world around her. And most especially the one who sat in silence in the darkness, patiently watching her approach.

It was a crocodile. Relatively large and not very pretty-looking, although looks didn't amount to much as far as efficiency was concerned in the shinobi world. Jagged spines rose from the creature's back, and the fact that it had lay at the foot of a great dead tree had made it all the more difficult to make out hat sort of creature this thing was. But that was about as much as Kunikunosaku would be able to make of the creature without a light. And then, if the kunoichi had actually been counting the seconds since she had asked her questions, around the 8th second, the creature said in a listless, raspy voice, "You are here. I am Mizuchi." She had said ten seconds, hadn't she. But that was all. No more words were said for the time being.

Kunikunosaku slowly approached but during her approach, she could feel just pure indifference and apathy coming from the orbs. She kept her internal clock ticking but she felt this presence was familiar. Especially as she acclimated to the darkness. She noticed the silhouette formed in the shape of a rather familiar form. Regardless, Kuni kept at the ready, she was raised to trust no one. Just especially so since a trusted clan relative threw her into a pit to be killed and turned into something more. The clock ticked down, she felt more calm, well specifically, more apathetic. It started to become clear to the Kunoichi she wasn't in a completely foreign land. She was still in Bonchi no Kuni, but a part of it that she could not go out of respect.

The seconds came close to her jumping the creature before it addressed her on the 8th second. Kuni held her daggers tighter as she prepared herself. Even in front of what Kuni would call her best friend. The identity now revealed, gave the Kunoichi some pause as she tried to think of a follow-up. She used Mizuchi before and the Croc needed only to snap her jaws to cast her ninjutsu and hiss to use Genjutsu, she hasn't summoned her in such a long time. Kuni had no clue of her capabilities now so her guard remained. "Mizuchi, what's going on?" Kuni called out as her tendrils pulled in. She didn't like this, things didn't feel like the Mizuchi that Kuni knew.

Even though Kunikunosaku recognized the creature that waited in the shadows, even though she had summoned this creature before, the beast just stared at her with that absolutely unfeeling gaze. If Mizuchi was offended that Kunikunosaku was still holding her daggers warily, despite having known the identity of the crocodile, she did not show it. But for the first time since Kunikunosaku had arrived in the dead, humid swamps, the scaled reptile blinked. Then uncoiling her form, the beast slowly waddled from where she had lain at the foot of the dead tree, towards the Taki ninja, her purpose inscrutable for the present.

"Nothing, presently," came the reply, as the crocodile slithered closer. But just when Mizuchi was a little beyond reach of Kunikunosaku, the crocodile stopped. "I have a deal for you," the crocodile suddenly said flatly, which sounded a little odd, seeing as there had really been no build up to the statement. If Mizuchi was a salesperson, there would be a good chance that this croc wouldn't be swimming in money. But money was of absolutely no importance to this deal that was to be made.

"I am sure that you will be glad to accept it." And then the crocodile was silent, as though telling Kunikunosaku that she would like the deal was enough for the kunoichi to gladly strike without hearing the stipulations.

Kunikunosaku couldn't believe her ears, she was truly summoned on grounds of nothing. She wanted to yell at Mizuchi but she knew better than to anger someone when on their land. Well, close allies to Takigakure. Kunikunosaku withdrew her blades back into her arms, not even watching as the black threads pulled them quite literally back into her wrists. Kunikunosaku looked around as this summon of nothing then stated an item of pristine interest. Mizuchi stated she had a deal for her. Kunikunosaku made a cant of her head.

"Okay, keep talking." The Kunoichi knelt down on both knees before sitting on her legs. "We've worked enough that you probably already went through the time to assess if I was ready and worthy of such a deal. But, what are the terms of this deal, as in what do I get and what do you get?" That was how deals work, right? Something of a compromise which both parties gain something. "The reason I ask instead of agreeing was I thought you were living lavishly, are you okay? What compels you to strike a deal? Did someone put you up to this? Are others mistreating you?" The Kunoichi inquired, looking at the crocodile as if they were close friends.

Kuni looked at the Crocodilian and held her hand out like she wanted to pet Mizuchi but she didn't try to force anything. She didn't want to anger the village's esteemed protectors. If anything, she was more willing to protect the crocs that reminded her of well her.

Kunikunosaku responded to the offer with some degree of suspicion. That was not only expected, but good, even. Mizuchi, for all her apparent lack of emotions would have been a tad disappointed if the kunoichi had simply agreed to whatever the deal would be without being cautious enough to know what she was getting herself into.

"That is correct," deadpanned the croc, when Kunikunosaku mentioned that if she was being approached with such a deal, then she was judged to be worthy of such a thing. A deal meant one party, at least, was in need of something, a detail the kunoichi quickly picked on. Yet Mizuchi said nothing, simply staring at her with those dead eyes.

When Kunikunosaku reached out towards the crocodile, Mizuchi remained motionless. If the shinobi's show of care had been pleasing, or repulsive, to the great reptile, there was absolutely no indication of such in the green beady eyes. But this was good. Care, if it wasn't being feigned, indicated loyalty, something that was of utmost importance for whoever would be granted the honor of the deal. For a few seconds, silence reigned, with the croc simply staring at her emotionlessly, then Mizuchi said, "I am under no compulsion but mine to strike this deal. It's a simple one, really. I'm offering you an exclusive deal to have as your personal summons, myself and one other, the greatest of the crocodiles. You get incredible firepower in your arsenal. We get more time outside this swamp. Simple, really."

Kunikunosaku looked at Mizuchi, hearing the reptile assure she was correct made the Kunoichi give a rare smile of genuine happiness. It was off-putting that Mizuchi didn't directly address her concerns then and there and the Kunoichi tilted her head in a different direction. when she lowered herself and offered to pet Mizuchi as a means of comfort, the crocodile just stared at her. She didn't show any ounce of dissatisfaction being quite literally left hanging. Instead, Kuni nodded as Mizuchi stated this was of her own accord and naturally lowered her hand. The Kunoichi kept her eyes on the reptile as she spoke, it was odd. Usually deals like this had some extreme weight tied to it. But the way Mizuchi was offering, and the fact it was the most level-headed, in Kuni's opinion, crocodile certainly aided the deal in the familiarity aspect.

The deal was simple, she'd get the honor of summoning her and the strongest of the crocodiles within a village contract. Kunikunosaku brought a hand to her chin, the terms sounded a bit one-sided. But when Kuni broke it down, if it required someone of worth to summon the strongest of the Crocs, they might be locked up here with that rough stipulation. Being that their leader had a sage contract and the other signer is an undesirable, to her at least, Kuni nodded. She clenched a fist and placed it against her chest, hard. She felt her torso constrict tightly and Kuni coughed. The Kunoichi looked visibly shaken as a single thread emerged from her chest, glistening with a red coating. "You know what I want and you offer it so neatly. You're my friend, so I hope I can give you exactly what you want. Where do I sign?" Kuni cut to the deal without investigating further. She wanted power and after the hell she had to go through. She was more than happy to get started. "I, Kunikunosaku, am honored to be granted this deal, and it would be an honor to see it through." She stated as her hand held the glistening thread, the red stains on her hand formed a minuscule pool before the thread pulled back into her.

Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

Trust. A thing not so easily gained in the world of shinobi, and one even less likely to be regained, if it had been abused. It seemed Kunikunosaku had a lot of invested trust in Mizuchi to so quickly agree to the deal, upon hearing it. Would she feel betrayed if she knew what the full stipulations of this deal was? Mizuchi could not tell, but then again, the crocodile did not concern herself about such things. What she needed was a worthy and loyal summoner, and the kunoichi standing before her seemed to tick the boxes. Of course, only time would tell just how worthy she was of this, but there was no point in waiting and trusting fortune to blow a better prospect by.

Mizuchi made no response to Kunikunosaku's declaration of the status of their friendship, although when the kunoichi asked where she was to sign to ratify the deal, the crocodile waddled forward, and opened her great maw, before spitting out a long, but rather narrow scroll. It looked somewhat old, but had rather ornate designs. With a flick of one of her forelegs, Mizuchi unfurled the scroll, revealing to Kunikunosaku a bunch of earlier contracts. They were few, and all faded. "Place your blood here," the reptile said, indicating an empty slot, "and be assured we will honor our own part of the deal. Whenever you're ready."

Mizuchi herself seemed rather eager to get the deal written up as well, dismissing Kuni's more sentimental statement to open her mouth and eject an ancient looking scroll from her maw. The Kunoichi wondered if it was possible for her to hide in the crocodile as it moved about. She was unsure why she had the thought, but the quick hideaway within something, a literal passenger seemed really nice at the moment. Kunikunosaku merely watched as the crocodile kicked the scroll to be undone. Narrow and long, the scroll and every aspect had ornate designs, but it was old. She had to wonder if this predated the village contract. The Mikatakujitra Kunoichi looked at the scroll and back to Mizuchi, the softness of her expressions gone and her face as lifeless as Mizuchi, as her status quo, main sail emotion. "I'd say it's time to protect the village protectors." The Kunoichi stated before using her own blood to sign the deal. She had taken such great care of her hearts, well most of them, that by shock compressing her chest, she can get her original heart to excrete fresh chakra-enhanced blood makes things easier to match to her mainstay chakra signature to.

Signing her name slowly, Kunikunosaku couldn't help but feel rather odd, like something wasn't right. It wasn't a feeling she dwelled on nor was it something she allowed herself to feel. She had to trust these crocodiles for they had trusted her. Finishing her signature, she looked at Mizuchi. "Signed... When do we solidify it?" Usually summons liked to give very specific practice or some prefer fully going how each contract fully works. Knowing a tad too little, she wouldn't be surprised if she got a history lesson instead of summon practice.

Mizuchi watched Kunikunosaku with that silent, lifeless expression, as the kunoichi commented on protecting the village's protectors. Anyone who had no idea of Mizuchi's behavior would probably have thought the crocodile was either annoyed or at least dismissive about the kunoichi's statement, with the way Mizuchi just stared blandly at her. And yet, with that expression, was there really any way by which Kunikunosaku, or anyone in general, would be able to know what was going on in Mizuchi's mind? It also did not help that crocodiles by default tend to be less expressive as far as facial features are concerned than humans.

Blood was spilled (even if it was through unconventional means) and the contract was signed. The deal was done. As Kunikunosaku asked about solidifying the deal, having signed it, Mizuchi seemed silent for a moment, then the crocodile rolled the scroll shut with her forelimb. "That will be all," she said simply, before picking the scroll by one end and lifting it up in the air. With a single motion, Mizuchi opened her maw wide, the scroll fell in, and her jaws snapped shut. "You may summon me again, if you wish to hear more about the history of this deal. But for now, you may return to your place."

There would be a puff of smoke around Kunikunosaku, and she would find herself back where she had attempted to summon, which had led to this strange but short event. There was obviously more information to be given, but at least Mizuchi had mentioned that there was an avenue to learn more. Time would tell how everything played out, though.
