Information: Born with the ability to utilize the Boil Release, Oborozuki Masami graduated the academy at eleven and was placed on Team 14, with a focus on frontline combat. Noted for leaning into her large Chakra Reserves and specializing exclusively in the use of Ninjutsu and the Boil Release. Passed the chuunin exams at thirteen and continued to run missions until induction into SHUKAN at fifteen.

Exclusively ran SHUKAN Operation until the age of twenty. Was made the leader of a team and internally promoted to the rank of Jounin during that time. Mainly sent out on False Flag, Search and Destroy and Intel Accusation missions. Evaluated and ruled for re-integration into normal Shinobi forces following that.

Due to promise shown, Masami leaned into a Diplomatic and Subversion missions focus while still building reputation as a combatant. It was noted as a build-up into a acquiring a leadership position, War council and then presumably Jounin Commander. In response, priority in SHUKAN missions was lowered and granted permission to lead a minor facility at age twenty-five.

It is unknown what the exact trigger was but it’s suspected due to friction with the past Jounin Commander. Nonetheless, it has come to light that Oborozuki Masami is guilty of illegally acquiring and selling classified information. It is also suspected that she has been trying to form a clandestine organization that does not answer to our Lord but only to her.

While preferable to be brought alive for interrogation, Oborozuki Masami is to be taken care of and whatever group she has been trying to form, dismantled. She has been noted for passing through Anomaly 84 repeatedly due to the nature of her clan, while her last sighting was at Facility 56, which she heads.

Anomaly 84 aka Ishii Forrest

Situated near the border with Forrest Country is a tropical forest that slowly shifts into a temperate one, that the nearby villages named Ishii Forest. While dense, said forest was still traversable with a minor route established. Though a few years ago a mist slowly emerged and took over most of the area. It would have been ignored, only for the civilians that passed through the forest to find out that said mist was acidic and caused burns the longer one remained there.

Curiously enough, it was noted that the mist affected only humans. In a response to that missions were requested for investigation and clearing of said mist, only for those to be regulated to Facility 56. The initial report sent by Oborozuki Masami declared that it was a failed experiment and that it would dissipate naturally. Further reports were marked as none essential and swept away due the none critical nature of the route passing through said forest, also a suspected meddling of Masami.



Facility 56 aka Kasai Research Facility

Located North-East near the border with Forrest Country is Kasai Research Facility. It’s a minor compound focused on developing and testing of combat stimulants, that and biology research. The lead Scientist is Konishi Minato, who saw little progress in his research until the appointment of Masami as head of the facility. Under her care, the Kasai Research Center saw increase of breakthroughs and budget grants due to its success, alongside the personal investment of Masami herself.

Said facility has also been responsible for handling reports from the region around it and some of the mission’s request from there being passed to shinobi affiliated with the facility. Recent investigations have shown suspicious activity and signs of meddling, but despite Masami’s missing status, the research facility has continued sanding reports and operating as normal.

The report came with a simple order, nukehunt, dead or alive. The nuke in question was an Oborozuki. This was one hunt she wasn't going to tell Hideo. How could she say "Your family had to die," so casually to a teammate that had more familial bonds than Kuni had enemies? And worse, one that actually cared about her and vice-versa. The Mikatakujira sighed, try to piece together evidence and knowledge she knew and had access to. Kunikunosaku began wondering how she would fair against herself, if that variant was human. Her profile read like that, the similarities between her and this nuke just wasn't a good feeling. Kunikunosaku still composed herself as she checked the mission overview once more. A slight smile cracked on her lips as she saw her teammate. This Nuke in no way was going to be as easy to Ruto to take in. Hell, if she was distributing information from such a rank, it could danger the whole village. Dead or alive maybe the official designation, but counting both the risks Masami and her apparent followers bore. It just screamed that death was both the only and too good of an option in her opinion.

Gathering her equipment, a wave of nostalgia washed over Kuni. It was nice thinking about more bonding moments with Etsuko. Sure, she wasn't the greatest teacher dealing with the emotional side but looking back, she was definitely the best team leader for her. Did Kunikunosaku feel she could have learned more from Etsuko, yes. But alas, the Kunoichi felt like she was doing good enough considering her circumstances. Taking the report and orders, she went back to the prison and automatically had an unwelcome and haunting memory. The Mikatakujira let out a shaky breath before making a loud whistle noise in the prison after she got passed the preliminary entrance. "Etsuko-sensei! We got a mission together again, a violent one. Ignore the similarities to years ago, it's time for a good ol' man-hunt!" Kunikunosaku spoke loudly into the blocks, hoping it would get to Etsuko.

She walked slower as she looked for the cell Etsuko was in. She knew exactly where it was but Kuni wanted to at least give the woman time to get ready.

After having to recycle the roots that ended up killing the previous Apprentice just to transfer Jiongu to Kunikunosaku, the mass of black roots recollects most of its abilities from the Apprentice previous while forming new ones with its new master/host, Kunikunosaku. As far as the roots are concerned, like any organism, it desires to feed and survive, all else is not required, nor necessary to function. As for the Symbiotic Relationship benefits Kunikunosaku can control the thread-like roots however she wishes. The thread are quite versatile, acting much like surgical threads they can be used to sew up wounds stretch, or harden for attacks akin to squid tentacles, as well as being equally flexible and significantly dexterous. In time, Kunikunosaku will learn that as long as they keep a heart attached to at least some of the roots making up her body at all times, she is functionally immortal, only dying once all the threads are completely removed from any living hearts, and is unable to be poisoned. Because all of her vital organs and their corresponding systems are gone, Kunikunosaku has no need to breathe, eat, or sleep. The roots are sufficiently maintained by storing hearts that are pumping and living, in turn drawing sustenance from them. These roots also allow Kunikunosaku to utilize the inherent nature of any hearts she adds to their body, allowing them to perform jutsu of that element as if it was their natural affinity.

Symbiotic Relationship: Mutualism

After gaining knowledge on how Jiongu behaves and acts, Kunikunosaku developed a strong bond with the Jiongu entity. Accepting both live in her now; that both are what makes up Kunikunosaku. As a result of this understanding and bond, Jiongu aids her in combat - despite being a small boost. When conditions are met, Jiongu can provide an aided strength boost to Kunikunosaku during combat. It is still relative to her natural strength at the time. While this has no speed benefits, this boost of strength can put her up to par with the max strength of her peers at the same rank level. As she matures and gains new skills and new statuses. So too does her strength grow.

Symbiotic Bond: Strong Mind, Strong Body
As Kunikunosaku developed a stronger relationship with Jiongu, the creature bestowed Kunikunosaku an additional gift. That which is bestowed grants her the body as strong as her will. As long as she has the will to fight and keep pushing forward, Kunikunosaku has attained a sense of a strong body. She can still feel all the pain she receives, however, her will will push through it; literally making her body push through the pain and maintain functionality despite the egregious wounds she may receive. Overwhelming pain at one time or other will breaking input can debilitate the girl's will-driven tolerance to falter to the degree of an average shinobi, opening her up to common pain. It is this will that allows her to force the tendrils/roots/threads to repair themselves from injury or stitch back together. This will increases with her skill as she becomes more confident and driven to satiate both her needs and Jiongu's.

Power of a God:
After a great time learning how to control Jiongu, Kunikunosaku has learned to store chakra in each of her threads so long as they continue to be attached to at least one of her hearts. This extra storage capacity allows the girl to amass greater amounts of chakra within herself, expanding her reserves beyond that of the normal shinobi her rank. As with many other abilities, this ability continues to grow as the girl does through the ranks and years.

Cursed Master:

As a reward for attaining a greater deal of control over her symbiotic relationship with Jiongu, Kunikunosaku acquired the keys to the gate of mastering her abilities. This new boon allows Kunikunosaku to double the impact of her EGF ninjutsu. In addition, a passive boon is the ability to completely negate Jiongu's manipulation to consume more hearts. These boons together allow Kuni to further manipulate Jiongu against its basic natures, improving her unique utilization. While still young and unrefined, the ability is expected to grow as their bond deepens to even further levels.

Medical Knowledge:

Being from Takigakure's prestigious clan medical clan, Kunikunosaku is also set to learn the human anatomy, biology, and Kinesthetics, While this knowledge DOES NOT give her access to Medical Ninjutsu Techniques, however, the knowledge does unlock abilities of precision to the human body with every attack. This knowledge grants field combat medic aid but nowhere near the degree of those actually trained in it.

Etsuko had spent more time recently in her bijuu's domain, it wasn't a place she was void from the world. However meditated, she felt the ability to practice, but due so without movement. At least her intention was to do that, she lacked much in the form of stillness. Her nearby cellmates would sometimes watch her in this state of meditation out of fear, as she'd suddenly tense muscles and or release a deep breath.

Her face sometimes slightly contorting to that of annoyance, a look that never gave those around her a feeling of comfort. They were all stuck in the same building after all, but the sound of a familiar voice would immediately get Etsuko's attention. She'd tune herself into the sound as best she could from her distance, as a jounin that'd be an easy task. She'd pop up from a squatted position, grabbing her weighted cloak and charging out to meet her old student. Someone who could to an extent understand the role of a weapon.

"Kunikunosaku it's been a time since we last cooperated. A weapon dulls without practice, but what violent affairs are we committed to today?" Etsuko would ask her old student passing more words than she would with most. However it was still quite brief and to the point. It was simply the nature of the jounin though, she didn't mean it kindly or rudely. There was a lot to possibly question, but likely more than a hop and skip to their opposition. Surely there'd be more uproar, if the enemy was out front. Also the word hunt implied some level of needed tracking.

Excitement ran through the air as Kunikunosaku thought of how the hunt was going to go. The threads writhed just under her skin in erratic spots to signify the emotion was felt throughout her whole body. She was thinking she'd need to go all the way to Etsuko's cell once more, to a pleasant surprise, she did not in fact have to walk all of the way there. Her former sensei met Kuni halfway and immediately pointed at the time away. Kunikunosaku nodded agreeingly as she folded her arms. A weapon dulls without practice. I'm pretty sure you mean erodes without maintenance. Kunikunosaku retorted mentally, she understood where Etsuko was coming from though. The woman thought herself too be a weapon so these analogies made sense, especially when Kuni took the time to learn a bit more of Etsuko, from first-hand to hearsay. Of course, each had a speaker's bias and a complete picture could not be formed. "Kirigakure's FEAR event if I recall correctly. It has been a while since we were side by side though, I don't remember how we were there, considering the tournament nature." The Mikatakujira stated matter of factly, she compartmentalized her thoughts as she tried to figure out the words that weren't too technical for this meeting.

"Best type of violent affair, killing a Takigakure nuke. We're better off killing them than apprehending them, despite it wanting us to interrogate them. You know how Ryū-sama is regarding traitors. Remember Hideo?" The younger Kunoichi asked rhetorically but she still paused, she had a feeling her former sensei is still a bit too facetious. "Yeah, the nuke is from his clan... Funny how time is ironic. The declassification of what we have is she's a Shukan, know about them? Well, the file says she was exclusive to it before being reintegrated into standard forces. So, apparently, rumors of a secret organization are true, and we have to bring her in or kill her, I'm for the latter. She tried to make a group that followed and only answered to her. Even my clan still answers to Ryū so more than likely, he'll want her head. But that's about it." Kuni gestured for her Sensei to follow as she began to lead to the exit, handing Etsuko the small file they were allowed to read for this hunt. "Destroy or hold onto it when you're done reading, can't let that fall into underqualified hands."

Kunikunosaku didn't add much more. She was used to the silence between them, it reminded her of old times. "Says she was last seen at the Kasai Research Facility. Considering her past, we need to find some information there to get a new trail. If those rumors are true, we need to be a bit more observant." There were hushed whispers in barracks and amongst casual Chūnin both serious and jokingly of the well-hidden and specialized group. Kunikunosaku could only gather the hearsay of the group and the exaggeration of their stealth. So, the possibility this task was near impossible was valid. But, she wasn't going to give up. "Want to lead like old times? Or do you want me to see what I can do?"

"Tournaments are like festivals or vacation for a weapon." Etsuko wasn't certain what made Kuni uncertain, perhaps she still didn't see herself in the situation Etsuko stood. She knew it was a different situation, but still in some sense all shinobi were weapons of their villages. The degree of independence shifting likely far more slightly than any might believe. She had more freedom than she needed most of the time.

"Oh?" Was all the response that felt needed for Kuni's reply of the type of violence. She couldn't exactly share the sentiment, as she'd typically rather her violence be directed at a clear enemy. Not that a traitor wasn't a clear enemy, but betrayal almost always insinuated a level of wronging from betrayed. Though some acted solely on greed, but still it didn't exactly wane heavily on Etsuko. She'd worry mildly about them being someone she knew.

"I had a time working with them, a sort of initiation... I didn't make the cut." That'd be the sort of extent of her explanation. She kind of assumed Kuni had the knowledge of the organization from a village perspective. They were the shadows to which kept the village and nations security. They often excelled in infiltration, espionage and high ranking security or assassination. She however wasn't around them enough to really know their secrets or feel some edge by their position. She felt she might know them though.

Hideo's mention gave a tinge of worry, but it was thankfully clarified the reference was just to highlight abilities at hand. She didn't really put her cloak to the test of his jutsu, but she'd have a good idea of what to look out for. Anything in the burning nature of reactions seemed manageable. That in mind she'd assume herself the more resilient to any possible situation.

The Mikatakujira gave her choice of who'd lead, so with her strengths in mind and still rank superiority. Etsuko would take the lead, her hand channeling Matatabi's cloak as the blue flames at up the information. She had everything she needed from it. "I'll lead the way. I think I might of met them before, if they're looking to overthrow Ryu. They'll want strong allies, maybe they'll show themselves to try to recruit me." This wasn't the most serious of strategies, but she didn't see this team-up made with investigation or stealth in mind.

Etsuko's pace was hard for most to keep up, so she'd partially take the lead merely by moving her stride a tad bit forward. She had loads of energy and years of knowledge in this land to have a path already routed. To Facility 56.
